    i agree
and i strongly believe its from all the steroids that they put in the food you buy at the store....
they give cattle/animals steriod shots so they are bigger and a)rancher gets more profit cause they are paid by the pound b)more meat to sell
they fertilize with steriods among other things to produce bigger and prettier fruits and vegetables.....same reasons...

now...the steriods don't just dissapear when they are sold....they have to go somewhere...and that means we are eating them...

again....this is just my opion...no bashing please....

my new nephew was 7.5 lbs...and he's 3 wks early...

First of all we are taller than we were even 100 years ago. We eat better and most pregnant women are under the care of a physician. And we are basically healthier than people were even 50 years ago.

I think that having bigger babies is just the result of better pre-natal care. There are less and less babies who die at birth, less premies, and fewer babies that are born with major heath defects. Women quit drinking and smoking when they find out they are pregnant. They eat more veggies and basically take the time to be sure that their baby is born healthy.

Fifty years ago, our mother's didn't know that smoking would affect the birth weight of a baby. They didn't know that drinking would affect the birth weight of a baby. They didn't know how important folic acid was to the health of a baby. Once they were pregnant, they didn't go to exercise class or go through birthing classes like people do today. They just were at home and they had their babies.

If you look at my sisters and I, when my oldest sister was born, my mom smoked (ok this is in the 50's so it was a while ago). My oldest sister is the shortest and smallest of the three of us. My mom quit smoking during her pregnancy with me. I am average height. Then when she has bmy youngest sister, she wasn't smoking and she took better care of herself. My youngest sister is an Amazon woman. She also had a birth weight of about 9 lbs. And that was in 1959.

So look at your family and see who had their babies when and what they were doing to keep themselves healthy for their babies.

Well 4 years ago when I had my first baby I was tall and skinny. I was ALL belly. Do you know that child weighed in at 10lbs, 11 ozs!!! No it was not a csection birth!!! Man, that was scary. Actually I had an epidural, so I had no pain - just a heck of a time pushing him out!! The recovery was PAINFUL if you can imagine!

Second child 16 months ago was 9lbs, 11 ozs and he was 1 week early!!! Of course now after having those two big babies, I am still tall, but have retained a gut!

Am scared to see what the third child will be IF we get pregnant again!!
