If ANY McDoanld's employee had tried that with me, I would be calling the head office of McDoanld's ASAP! I've had some problems lately with them myself. Just about every time I go through the drive thru they will screw up my order. I got tired of it and called the toll free number they print on the food bag: 1-800-244-6227 and complained about the quality control and the rotten attitudes I was getting from the people there. They are going to have the franchise owner call me back after he's had a chance to check out what's going on there. A manager I had previously called about it is sending me a bunch of free meal coupons.Quote:

Turtle Soup
from River Road Recipes II...
A Second Helping
3 pounds turtle meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 cup oil
1 cup flour
1 cup diced onions
1 cup diced celery
6 cloves chopped garlic
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 quarts water
1/4 cup beef extract
2 teaspoons celery salt
4 bay leaves
2 lemons, halved
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 cup chopped parsley
Salt and lemon-pepper to taste
GARNISH:
Sliced lemon, chopped egg, sherry
Sauté turtle meat in shortening until brown. Set aside. Brown flour, and add onion, celery and garlic. Cook 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and turtle meat. Simmer about 2 hours until meat is very tender. Garnish with sliced lemon, chopped egg and sherry before serving.
YIELD: 1 gallon
Cantaloupe or Honeydew Vichyssoise
• 1 medium potato or 1/2 large potato
• 2 medium cantaloupes or honeydews or 1 of each, seeded and cubed (about 8 c. cubes)
• 2 c. fat-free half-and-half
• 1/2 tsp. grated fresh ginger
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
• Dash hot pepper sauce
Peel the potato, cut into medium chunks and cook in boiling water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain, retaining 1/2 cup of the cooking water.
Preferably in a blender, but a food processor will do, purée the potato, the retained cooking water, half of the cubed melon and 1 cup of the half-and-half; pour into a large pot or bowl. Purée the remaining melon with the remaining half-and-half and add to the first batch.
Stir in the ginger, salt, Worcestershire and hot pepper sauce. Chill; taste before serving and adjust seasonings.
