More than 280 exhibitors will be at this year's Twin Cities Food and Wine Experience, Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 2nd Av. S. Here are some highlights, and things you'll need to know if you plan to attend:
Hours: Experience the Experience Jan. 31 from 3 to 9 p.m., Feb. 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cost: Tickets for the exhibit hall are $50 in advance and $55. Advance ticket prices are available until Jan. 24. Note: Last year, Friday and Saturday sold out. Tickets are available at Lunds and Byerly's stores, online at http://www.foodwineshow.comor by calling 612-371-5857.
Seminars: There are several seminars available throughout the weekend. Cost is $30 unless noted. Among this year's offerings:
• A Vertical Tasting of Chateau Lagrange and Chateau D'Issan, Emmanuel Cruse, owner of Chateau D'Issan, and Marcel Ducasse, winemaker and director of Chateau Lagrange. Feb. 1 at noon.
• Finding the 'Zin Zones' Bull's Eye, Eric Cinnamon, winemaker at Rancho Zabaco Winery, Feb. 1 at noon.
• Pinot Noir in America, moderated by sommelier Andrea Immer, featuring Jed Steele of Jed Steele Winery, Robert Sinskey of Sinskey Vineyards, Tony Rynders of Domaine Serene, and David Coventry or Morgan Winery. Feb. 1 at noon.
• The Wines of Southern Rhone and Provence: Chateauneuf-du-pape to Bandol, David Anderson, France 44 Wines & Spirits, Feb. 1, 2:30 p.m.
• Robert Mondavi Oak-Aging Presentation, Dyson De Mara, Robert Mondavi Winery, Feb. 1 at 2:30 p.m.
• Organically Grown -- The Ultimate Luxury, Robert Sinskey Vineyards, Feb. 1 at 2:30 p.m.
• The Uniqueness of Mendocino Valley, Van Williamson, Kendall-Jackson, Saturday, 4:30 p.m.
• The Success of Spanish Wines in California, Chuck Hovey, Stevenot Winery, Feb. 1, 4:30 p.m.
• California Pinot Noir, Jed Steele, Steele Vineyards, Feb. 1 at 4:30 p.m.
• Basic Component Tasting, Robert Plantenberg, Robert Mondavi Winery, Feb. 2, noon.
• The Slope of Gold -- The Wines of Burgandy, John Wiggins and Bill Belkin, Byerly's Wines and Spirits, Feb. 2, noon.
• Oregon Pinot Noir, Tony Rynders, Domaine Serene, Feb. 2, noon.
• A Morgan Montage from Monterey, David Coventry, Morgan Winery, Feb. 2 at 2:30 p.m.
• Riedel Stemware Comparison Tasting, Michael G. Farnham, Aurora Wine and Spirits, and Christopher McDonnell and Paul Daggett, The Wine Company. Feb. 2 at 2:30 p.m. Cost is $80.
• A Voyage Through the World of Italian Wines, Giampaolo Cherubin, Rose Importing, Feb. 2, 2:30 p.m.
Special events: Here's a rundown of various special lunches and dinners:
• Oddfellows Restaurant and Rancho Zabaco Winery, Jan. 31 at noon, $50.
• MPR Winemakers' Dinner, Jan. 31 from 6 to 10 p.m., $200.
