Mateen’s Father is Talk Show Host Who Supports Taliban

The father of Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen hosts an incoherent political talk show in which he has declared his candidacy for president of Afghanistan and praises the Taliban, the Washington Post reports. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...an-presidency/

The Post reports that Seddique Mateen hosts a show called “Durand Jirga Show” on a channel called Payam-e-Afghan, which broadcasts from California.

“In one video, Mateen expresses gratitude toward the Afghan Taliban, while denouncing the Pakistani government,” the Post reports.

“Our brothers in Waziristan, our warrior brothers in [the] Taliban movement and national Afghan Taliban are rising up,” he said. “Inshallah the Durand Line issue will be solved soon.”

The Durand Line is the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The line was given by the British to Pakistan but divides the native Pashtun population in the area.

The timing of the video is strange, as it came a year after presidential elections were held in Afghanistan. Mateen appears incoherent at times in the video, and he jumps abruptly from topic to topic. i listened today to obama's speech. there was no emotion - he might have been reciting his multiplication tables not announcing the murder of at least 50 sons, daughters, friends, relatives. was he lamenting that his golf time might have been eliminated because he had to play pres? he mentioned the word terror once and then spent all his time talking about guns and hatred for the lgbt community. does O want his secret service, military and police also turn over their guns or only those who have been charged to protect him have the right to guns? before he tries to wipe out all guns, let him first take away the guns from all the bad people...the bad ppl like the ones who were given guns by our own doj! :( when it comes to the gay community imho obama has caused more division with his executive order regarding allowing transgenders into locker rooms and bathrooms based on how a person feels (of course he would not have to share with them nor would his daughters or his wife)and punishing school children if their schools do not comply to his wishes, wants, desires. one of the things i noticed during this speech is that he did not shed 1 tear. his eyes were emotionless. his speech was flat. he shed more tears just thinking of his daughter graduating high school than he did for these 103 human beings in orlando. it is a sad commentary when the leader of the US of A does not feel for these americans

Man with weapons was headed to LA gay pride parade

LOS ANGELES — Authorities on Sunday were trying to determine the intentions of an Indiana man with a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosive-making materials in his car and apparent plans to attend the L.A. Pride festival in West Hollywood.

Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks initially said on Twitter that the 20-year-old man told one of her officers after he was arrested that he wanted “to harm Gay Pride event.”

But Lt. Saul Rodriguez said later the tweet was a misstatement. He said the suspect told investigators that he was going to the Pride festival but said he did not make additional statements about his intentions.

“It was a misstatement,” Rodriguez said. “Unfortunately, she was given incorrect information initially, which indicated that that statement was made; however, that statement never was made. He did indicate that he was planning on going to the Pride festival but beyond anything as far as motives or his intentions that statement was never made nor did any officer receive that statement.”

Police identified the suspect as James Wesley Howell of Indiana. A Facebook page for someone with the same name in Indiana shows a young man posing next to a white Acura with the same license plate as the car searched in Santa Monica for the weapons and explosives.

At a news conference Sunday afternoon, police stressed they were still trying to figure out what Howell planned to do with the weapons.

Howell’s friend and fellow car club member Joseph Greeson, 18, said Howell didn’t harbor any ill will toward gays or lesbians and added that Howell was bisexual.

Greeson said Howell’s family in Jeffersonville hadn’t seen him for days and that his parents had called Greeson’s parents looking for him.

He added that Howell was known to have a gun collection.

According to Indiana court records, Howell was charged in October 2015 with intimidation and felony pointing a firearm at another person. On April 19, Howell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor intimidation, and prosecutors dropped the charge of pointing a firearm. Court records show he was sentenced to a year in state prison and placed on probation. Under the deal, he agreed to forfeit all weapons during his term of probation.

Howell allegedly pointed a gun at his neighbors in the October incident, according to a News and Tribune article. In the article, witnesses also described Howell as having pointed his gun at his boyfriend in an earlier incident.

“James is going to get someone hurt,” one witness said, the article said. “He needs to stop pointing guns at people.”

Federal and local law enforcement decided against canceling the annual parade, which went forward Sunday morning under tightened security. Investigators are now trying to piece together what happened but said they don’t believe there is any connection between the incident and the massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., that killed at least 50 people overnight.

Early Sunday, Santa Monica police received a call about a suspected prowler who was knocking on a resident’s door and window about 5 a.m. in the 1700 block of 11th Street, Santa Monica police said. Patrol officers responded and encountered Howell, who was sitting in a car registered in Indiana, police said. Officers inspected the car and found three assault rifles, high-capacity ammunition and a 5-gallon bucket containing “chemicals capable of forming an improvised explosive device,” police said.

A law enforcement source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the contents of the bucket included Tannerite, an ingredient that could be used to create a pipe bomb. The maker of the material said that was not the case and that it can only be detonated by high-velocity impact such as a bullet strike. But Tannerite is known as a material used in the construction of other types of explosive devices.

The source, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation, said authorities also found camouflage clothing in the car.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said the suspect told police he was going to the Pride parade to look for a friend. Authorities were looking for that individual.

Santa Monica police searched the suspect’s car on Sunday morning. All four of the car’s doors were open and a green blanket, red gasoline canister and several other smaller items were being piled on the sidewalk next to it. The car’s license plate included a symbol of the National Rifle Association on the left side and the bottom said, “Teaching Freedom.”

A Facebook page for Howell said he attended high school in Louisville, Ky., and lives in Jeffersonville, Ind., where he works for an air filtration company. A car enthusiast, Howell posted numerous photographs of the Acura along with a couple of videos taken from inside cars. Another 10-second video includes gunfire, with shots striking grass.

The site includes political posts, including one in which he compares Hillary Clinton to Adolf Hitler. In another, he repeats conspiracy theories that the government was behind notorious terrorist attacks, including Sept. 11, 2001. That post shares a video claiming that last year’s terror attack on the Paris offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo was a hoax and attributable to the “New World Order.”

The parade in West Hollywood came hours after the attack at the Orlando club. In addition to those killed, at least 53 were injured in the deadliest shooting in modern American history. The gunman, who was killed in a shootout with police, has been identified as 29-year-old Omar Mateen, a U.S. law enforcement official said.

The parade began about 10:45 a.m. Usually a joyful affair, the event was tempered by the Orlando violence and the Santa Monica arrest.

Emma Samuels, 16, stood at Crescent Heights and Santa Monica boulevards with a group of friends, wearing a rainbow tutu.

She had heard about what happened in Florida when her mother called her Sunday morning, as soon as she arrived at the parade. “She told me and said, ‘I hope you’re safe, sweetie, I love you and let me know that you’re OK,’ ” she said. Her friend Nicki Genco-Kamin, 18, stood with her, a “No H8” temporary tattoo on his left cheek: “I feel like it’s all the more reason to come out. That’s trying to push us back. This is showing we’re still here, we’re still going to take a stand,” he said.

They said that a sense of worry was there, but stressed the importance of turning out.

“That’s exactly why we’re here, to be like, ‘I’m proud of who I am. I don’t care if you hate me, I’m going to love myself,’ ” Samuels said.

“Life is short anyways,” Genco-Kamin said. “Spend it being authentic to yourself.”

“Gun violence on the LGBTQ family during Pride Month makes me sick,” Horvath said. “The deadliest mass shooting in America happened to LGBTQ people on Latin night. While we mourn this heartbreaking loss, we must also rededicate ourselves to the fight for full equality for all people. No one is equal unless everyone is equal.”

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz issued a statement Sunday regarding the gay nightclub shooting in Orlando.

Ted Cruz’s statement:

“Our nation is at war. From 9/11 to the Boston Marathon, from Fort Hood to Chattanooga, from San Bernardino to last night’s horrific attack in Orlando, radical Islamic terrorism has declared jihad on America,” Sen. Cruz said. “Early reports indicate the Orlando terrorist had pledged his allegiance to ISIS, and he had previously been investigated by the FBI. And yet, as with the prior attacks, we were not able to act to stop this act of vicious terrorism that has now murdered 50 and injured more than 50 others.

“Our hearts go out to those killed and wounded last night. Our prayers are with their families, and with all their grieving loved ones.

“It is a time for action. We need a Commander in Chief who will speak the truth, and who will unleash the full force and fury of the American military to utterly destroy ISIS and its affiliates. FAIL: Bill Rejected By The GOP 6 Months Ago Would Have Stopped Florida Shooter From Gun Purchase

As it turns out, America’s elected Republican officials could have stopped Orlando’s gay nightclub shooter from being able to purchase the assault rifle that claimed the lives of 50 people in the early hours on Sunday morning. Dozens more were hospitalized

Omar Mateen opened fire in the Florida nightclub after apparently becoming enraged at the sight of two men kissing when he went on a family outing, months before the incident. Before going on his murderous rampage, Mateen called 911 to pledge his undying allegiance to terrorist organization ISIS.

Not only are Republicans responsible for stigmatizing members of the LGBT community as anti-god deviants, but they could have thrown a huge wrench in Mateen’s massacre plans had they passed a law proposed six whole months before this morning’s mass shooting occurred.

This piece of legislation would have prevented anyone on the terror watch list from purchasing a firearm, let alone an assault rifle capable of killing dozens in seconds. Dianne Feinstein supported the legislation that was shot down by Republicans more worried about their 2nd Amendment rights than their actual physical safety. Feinstein said this about the problem with gun lobbying:

The guy was a "suspected terrorist" already on FBI Watch Lists ... so why didn't it pop up on the already mandated background check that is required to go thru the FBI ?

Probably the scariest thing about this tragedy is that the shooter worked for G4S security. They are the security at my work and probably yours. They also guard our nuclear facilities and are on buses right now bringing Muslim refugees to a neighborhood near you. These Muslims are not converting to our ways and will want you to follow sharia law. This is not me saying this it is them saying it. This wasn't some immigrant who came and shot people. How do we stop a force that is peaceful until the moment it is time to kill you?

Orlando nightclub terrorist worked for major DHS contractor that secures “90 percent of U.S. nuclear facilities.”

The Orlando nightclub terrorist who pledged allegiance to ISIS worked almost a decade for a major Department of Homeland Security contractor, raising alarms that ISIS sympathizers and agents have infiltrated the federal agency set up after 9/11 to combat terrorists.

Officials say Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, an Afghan-American who held two firearms licenses and a security officer license, was employed by the security firm G4S Secure Solutions USA Inc. since Sept. 10, 2007. The Jupiter, Fla.-based company merged with the Wackenhut Corp. after 9/11 and assumed federal contracts.

“G4S supports the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CPB), with its operations at the U.S. * Mexico border and with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to transport illegal immigrants in selected urban areas,” the company says in a brochure, titled “Providing Manpower Solutions for Government Services.”

The DHS contract with G4S is worth more than $234 million. The contract states that one of the “performance requirements” is helping identify “suspected terrorists” trying to enter the U.S.

The security contractor also provides security guards and other security services for “90 percent of U.S. nuclear facilities.”

G4S uses fortified buses to transport “hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants” from city to city and from cities to the U.S.-Mexican border. But earlier this month, Judicial Watch revealed G4S has been quietly moving and releasing van loads of illegal aliens away from the border to interior American cities.

The immigrants were classified as OTMs — Other Than Mexican — and included mostly Central American illegals but possibly also foreign border-crossers from the Middle East and Pakistan.

“A security company contracted by the U.S. government is driving the OTMs from the Border Patrol’s Tucson sector, where they were in custody, to Phoenix,” the Washington-based government watchdog group said. “The firm is called G4S and claims to be the world’s leading security solutions group with operations in more than 100 countries and 610,000 employees.”

It’s not clear if the 29-year-old Mateen worked on any federal contracts or dealt with federal inmates. One of his jobs was to help transport and guard state and local prisoner youths in Florida. The subsidiary he worked for — G4S Secure Solutions USA Inc. — is based in Jupiter, Fla., which is located just south of Mateen’s home in Fort Pierce, Fla.

It’s also not immediately known if he had federal security clearances, or what kind of security background check G4S administered before hiring Mateen.

But he continued to guard prisoners despite reports he openly praised ISIS in conversations with co-workers, and even though he had been under federal investigation for terrorism ties since at least 2013.

In a 2012 company newsletter, G4S congratulated Mateen for five years of service.

Attempts to reach G4S representatives Sunday were unsuccessful. But the same company brochure says security officers “are subjected to a stringent background investigation” that includes psychological, background and criminal screening.” Testing for jihadist sympathies is not listed.

“From our superior recruiting, training and education to our background checks and screening, our manned security will exceed your expectations,” the contractor assures federal clients.

G4S, which was the first contract security company to received designation and certification by DHS, also helps the federal government with emergency security responses to “terror threats.”

Employing more than 50,000 Americans, G4S provides security support for several other federal agencies, as well, including the departments of State, Interior, Labor, Justice and Energy, and the IRS and Drug Enforcement Administration. The security firm also partners with the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and NASA.

Through the U.S. General Services Administration, the company supplies guards, detention officers, court security officers, baggage handlers, security clerks, and prisoner bus and van drivers in contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

It’s not the first time a federal contractor has employed a major Islamic terrorist.

In 2008, Charlotte, N.C.-based Convergys Corp. came under fire for employing a Muslim computer operator who openly maintained a jihadist website featuring grisly images of American soldiers blown up by al-Qaida terrorists overseas which he said “bring great happiness to me.” Convergys at the time had landed a $2.5 billion federal contract to set up emergency communications centers in the event to terrorist attacks and other disasters.

The employee, 22-year-old Sami Khan, turned out to be an al-Qaida operative. He was killed in 2011 in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen.
