    Shootings

There have been 204 mass shootings — and 204 days — in 2015 so far
By Christopher Ingraham July 24 2015

The headlines all start to sound the same after awhile. Seven people shot inside Louisville nightclub. Four men shot in Suffolk early Sunday morning. Two dead, two hospitalized in Brice Street shooting.

The shootings happen so often, the circumstances become so familiar, that we tune them out. One dead, five injured in west Columbus shooting. Four shot in grocery store ambush. One dead, four injured in Stockton shooting.

Every now and then a particularly heinous crime makes us pause and reflect. Nine dead in shooting at black church in Charleston. Four marines, one sailor killed in attacks on Chattanooga military facilities. Gunman opens fire on Louisiana movie theater.

The Mass Shooting Tracker, a crowd-sourced project of the anti-gun folks at the Guns Are Cool subreddit, lists 203 mass shooting events so far in 2015. Add in the shooting at a Louisiana movie theater last night and you get 204. Incidentally, yesterday was the 204th day of the year.

The Mass Shooting Tracker is different from other shooting databases in that it uses a broader definition of mass shooting. "The old FBI definition of Mass Murder (not even the most recent one) is four or more people murdered in one event," the site's creators explain. "It is only logical that a Mass Shooting is four or more people shot in one event."

These shootings have become so common that they typically don't even make national news. Do you remember the four people shot in Cincinnati earlier this month? How about the seven in Cleveland, or the nine in Fort Wayne? Unless you live in these areas, you probably didn't even hear about them.

This year there were 18 mass shootings in April, 39 in May, 41 in June, and 34 so far in July -- and the month isn't over yet. The theater shooting was Louisiana's 8th this year. There have been 10 in Ohio, 14 in California and 16 in New York.

Will anything change? Probably not. The Charleston shooting did produce a fruitful national conversation -- not on guns, but on the symbolism of the Confederate flag, which the shooter adopted as a banner of his racist beliefs. It took 150 years and a national tragedy for the country to reach something like a consensus on the meaning of a battle flag.

"Those who live in America, or visit it, might do best to regard [mass shootings] the way one regards air pollution in China: an endemic local health hazard which, for deep-rooted cultural, social, economic and political reasons, the country is incapable of addressing," The Economist wrote in response to the Charleston massacre. "This may, however, be a bit unfair. China seems to be making progress on pollution."

The Left make me laugh. Thank you for that. You scream for more "gun control" as if that will solve all the problems with crazies that go and shoot up movie theaters. Time for a reality lesson. The crazies, the gangs, the drug lords, all the bad guys of the world are not going to turn their guns in if "gun control" is passed. They will not be hanging out in their pads and say, "Ah, man. They passed gun control! Oh, well. Lets go down and turn in our weapons." NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

So this is what government run gun control looks like. Think China, Hitler's Germany, Russia's Stalin, and that Cambodia guy...Pol Pot. Something like that. Any way go online and see how many of their own country folks they killed when they had "gun control."

Another Mass Homicide But Guess Why You’re Not Hearing About THIS One?
    A. Jackson July 24, 2015

On Wednesday night, while all the news was ablaze with a shooting that killed several people and injured more in a movie theater, another heinous mass murder that claimed five lives was taking place. In the small community of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, eighteen year old Robert Beaver was killing almost every member of his family. He murdered his three siblings and both of his parents.

The question is, why has this not made the mainstream media with the same furor as the theater shootings? The answer is simple.

The murderer used a knife, instead of a gun!

    From Yahoo News:

The dead include his parents, David Bever, 52, and April Bever, 44. The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday also identified the three dead siblings as Daniel Bever, 12; Christopher Bever, 7; and Victoria Bever, 5. An unidentified 13-year-old sister was in serious but stable condition in a hospital and an unnamed 2-year-old sister wasn’t harmed and was placed in state custody.
More than likely, this is the first time you’ve heard of this mass murder, even though the theater shooting has been all you’ve no doubt heard of since the same time as this mass murder. This only goes to show how biased the mainstream media is toward that all mighty goal of theirs to help the Obama administration in disarming law abiding citizens. At least of handguns, because as this case points out, obviously, knives don’t count.

Oklahoma teen accused of killing parents, three siblings

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) — Police in Oklahoma say they have turned to social media posts for clues about the motive of a teenager accused in the stabbing deaths of his parents and three siblings during a late-night attack that left bodies strewn through the family's home.

A booking document filed by police in the Tulsa suburb of Broken Arrow accuses Robert Bever, 18, of five counts of first-degree murder and a count of aggravated assault in the attack Wednesday night.

Bever's 16-year-old brother also was being held. Because he is a juvenile, officers have not released his name or announced charges against him. Broken Arrow Police Cpl. Leon Calhoun said both brothers were cooperating with the investigation.

Calhoun said Friday that the agency was still looking for a motive and was searching social media accounts that they believe belong to Bever. Those include community site Pinterest and a Facebook account.

On Pinterest, Bever showed an interest in Star Wars, the rock group Linkin Park and sports cars. A Facebook post lists him as a recent graduate of Citizens' High School, which describes itself as providing "a home-school curriculum" for people hoping to earn a college degree.

The dead include his parents, David Bever, 52, and April Bever, 44. The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office on Friday also identified the three dead siblings as Daniel Bever, 12; Christopher Bever, 7; and Victoria Bever, 5. An unidentified 13-year-old sister was in serious but stable condition in a hospital and an unnamed 2-year-old sister wasn't harmed and was placed in state custody.

By many neighbors' accounts, the Bevers kept out of sight and to themselves — the kids played alone in the backyard, walked down neighborhood streets bunched together and their parents didn't socialize much. That appeared to carry over to the father's work.

David Bever's former co-workers in the IT department at Samson Resources described him as a quiet man who kept to himself. "He was a nice guy, but we weren't close," said Lisa Wolfe, Bever's supervisor at Samson. "I hired him. He worked for us for several years as a contractor. He was a good worker and a nice guy. He didn't get involved in any office politics, and those are the kind of people I like to work with.

"He liked to do his work and focus on that. He didn't socialize a lot with the folks he worked with," Wolfe said.

Documents filed to support the teenager's arrest said a caller from the home was able to tell police "their brother was attacking their family." Police had said Thursday that the 911 call was silent. Calhoun said the agency would release audio on Monday.

After officers arrived at the home, "officers could hear a faint voice from inside asking for help" and found the 13-year-old bleeding from multiple stab wounds. The young girl was still alive and made statements to the officers that "her brothers" were responsible for the attack, it said.

Fresh footprints in the backyard led officers to a wooded area, where they found the brothers.

A neighbor of the family, Matt Jacobsen, on Friday described the 16-year-old as a follower, not a leader, and "nerdy," given his interest in computers and technology. Others in the subdivision noted the family seemed isolated to the point that they appeared to avoid community events.

David Bever's sister, Tamela Massey of Seminole, Florida, said her family is dealing with grief following the death of her brother and members of his family and that they do not know what may have triggered the tragedy. "We have no idea," she said.

British Police Call On Nation To ‘Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife’ As ‘Knife Violence’ Continues

The news out of the United Kingdom almost reads like a satire piece from The Onion. But as strange as it may sound to people around the world, and especially in the United States, the British police push to ban knives is no joke.

The new “Save a Life – Surrender Your Knife” program is in full swing and police are telling us that they have joined forces with an already growing trend in the United Kingdom to ban “pointy” knives.

Lancashire Police tell us that an “amnesty” program began at the end of August, and “more than 800 knives have been handed in across the county – including swords, machetes and commando knives.”

“The amnesty was extended for a further week owing to its success,” Lancashire Police representatives explained.

The Lancashire department explains that their “officers have now given their backing to a national initiative designed to raise awareness of knife crime and encourage the surrender of dangerous weapons.”

In spite of the amnesty ending this week, police tell us that “people can continue to hand in any knife at any police station with a front counter as well being able to drop them into the designated bins.”

Those bins will be in cities all over the U.K. as this call for people to turn in pointed knives continues.

“We are keen to raise awareness of the devastating impact of knife crime and to reduce the number of families affected so we have decided to keep the knife bins indefinitely,” Detective Chief Inspector Steve Dowson said.

“While projects encouraging the surrender of knives are not a single solution to violence, they have an important role to play in inspiring communities to get behind education and preventative measures,” he added. “Such campaigns show a desire to address local concerns and Lancashire Police is keen to throw our weight behind them in support.

“We’ve been delighted with the response so far, but our communities have told us that they want an end to knife crime and that they want to work with us to make that happen.”

A call from the British Medical Journal was published several years ago, arguing that “many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon,” according to the BBC.

Researchers “consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen. None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed.”

Again, we remind our readers outside of the UK, that this is not satire, just another example of the government claiming they are here to protect us from ourselves.

In the UK, the rate of knife violence is approximately one in every 374 people victimized, compared with a rate of one in 750 people victimized by gun violence in the United States.
