    Civil Unrest .... Oregon

Oregon sheriff says armed men want to spark overthrow
    January 03, 2016

BURNS, Ore. - The remote high desert of eastern Oregon is the latest flashpoint for anti-government sentiment as armed protesters occupied a national wildlife refuge to object to a prison sentence for local ranchers for burning federal land.

Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden says "outsiders" are to blame for the situation in a rural part of the state. Wyden told The Associated Press he had been briefed by Gregory Bretzing, the FBI special agent in charge in Portland, Oregon. Wyden says the FBI is coordinating with state police and the Harney County sheriff's office, but he declined to offer further details.

Ammon Bundy - the son of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who was involved in a 2014 standoff with the government over grazing rights - is among the people at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge south of Burns, Oregon. It's unclear how many protesters are at the refuge, but Bundy says they are planning to stay indefinitely.

Ammon Bundy posted a video on Facebook asking for others to join him.

Wyden says he understands why some may be frustrated with federal bureaucracy and poor economic conditions in rural areas. However he says they shouldn't be "misled by some outsiders who seem willing to take the law into their own hands."

Sheriff David Ward says the men came to Harney County in remote southeastern Oregon claiming to be there in support of local ranchers, but were really there to spark a movement to overthrow the government.

Wyden says he believes most people in the area don't support the protesters.

Militia members came to Burns last month, a small town about 280 miles southeast of Portland, Oregon. They were upset over the looming prison sentences for local ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond. They went to the wildlife refuge Saturday evening following a rally in Burns to support the ranchers.

The sheriff says he is working with local and federal authorities to keep the citizens in his county safe and to quickly and peacefully resolve the situation that began Saturday evening after a peaceful protest in the nearby town of Burns.

He is asking people to stay away from the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge for their own safety. Ward says he does not think any other parts of the county are in immediate danger.

Armed militia, Bundy brothers take over federal building in rural Oregon

The Washington Post - Peter Holley 1 hr ago

An armed militia took over a building at a national wildlife refuge in Oregon late Saturday and vows to occupy the outpost for years to protest the federal government’s treatment of a pair of ranchers facing prison time.

The occupation of a portion of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge 30 miles southeast of Burns, Ore., followed a peaceful march for ranchers Dwight Hammond, 73, and Steven Hammond, 46, who are scheduled to report to federal prison in San Pedro, Calif., on Monday after being convicted of arson, according to the Oregonian.

Prosecutors said the father and son set the fire, which burned about 130 acres in 2001 on leased federal land, to conceal poaching, according to CNN. The Hammonds argued that they were attempting to reduce the growth of invasive plant species and ward off potential wildfires. The pair was sentenced to five years in prison.

Among the occupiers are several members of the Bundy family, whose patriarch — Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy — was involved in an armed standoff with government agents over grazing rights in 2014.

At a news conference on Sunday, Ammon Bundy said militia members had taken over an unoccupied site. He said the group had not heard from law enforcement and had no desire to be aggressive. He urged other citizens from across the country to join their effort and said that if violence occurred, it would begin on the government’s side.

“If they did,” he said, referring to the authorities taking violent action, “it would simply be over a building that they would come in and kill.”

The federal property, managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, was closed and unoccupied for the holiday weekend, the Oregonian reported.

Noting that the group isn’t holding hostages, Ryan Bundy echoed his brother, telling the Oregonian that the group doesn’t want to resort to violence but will not rule it out if authorities attempt to remove the occupiers from the property. He said many of the occupiers would be willing to fight — and die — to reclaim constitutionally protected rights for local land management, according to the Associated Press.

The group is calling for the Hammonds’ release and said the militia was planning an occupation that lasted “for years.”

“The best possible outcome is that the ranchers that have been kicked out of the area, then they will come back and reclaim their land, and the wildlife refuge will be shut down forever and the federal government will relinquish such control,” Ryan Bundy told the Oregonian. “What we’re doing is not rebellious. What we’re doing is in accordance with the Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land.”

The Malheur National Wildlife Refuge was established on August 18, 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt “as a preserve and breeding ground for native birds,” according to the park’s website.

“The Refuge represents a crucial stop along the Pacific Flyway and offers resting, breeding, and nesting habitat for hundreds of migratory birds and other wildlife,” a statement on the site says. “Many of the species migrating through or breeding here are highlighted as priority species in national bird conservation plans.”

At Sunday’s news conference, Ammon Bundy said the refuge’s creation was “an unconstitutional act,” one that removed local ranchers from their lands, thrusting the county into an economic depression.

“This refuge here is rightfully owned by the people and we intend to use it,” he said, adding that they plan to assisting ranchers, loggers, hunters and campers who want to use the land. “We will be here as a unified body of people that understand the principles of the Constitution.”

In a video interview with reporters on Saturday that was posted on Ammon Bundy’s Facebook page, he said the group is standing up against government “overreach” because “the people have been abused long enough.”

“I feel we are in a situation where if we do not do something, if we do not take a hard stand, we’ll be in a position where we’ll be no longer able to do so,” he said.

A video posted days earlier on Bundy’s Facebook page urged militia members from all over the country to join him:

“**ALL PATRIOTS ITS TIME TO STAND UP NOT STAND DOWN!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! COME PREPARED.”

Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward urged the public to stay away from the area as authorities work to resolve the standoff, according to the Oregonian.

[Bundy ranch standoff ‘invigorated’ anti-government groups, report says]

“A collective effort from multiple agencies is currently working on a solution,” Ward said in a statement reported by the paper. “For the time being please stay away from that area. More information will be provided as it becomes available. Please maintain a peaceful and united front and allow us to work through this situation.”

Beth Anne Steele, an FBI spokeswoman in Portland, told the AP that the bureau was aware of the situation at the wildlife refuge, but she declined further comment.

A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service spokesperson told CNN that the agency and the Bureau of Land Management are monitoring the armed protesters.

“While the situation is ongoing, the main concern is employee safety, and we can confirm that no federal staff were in the building at the time of the initial incident,” the spokesperson said. “We will continue to monitor the situation.”

Cliven Bundy told Oregon Public Broadcasting on Saturday night that he wasn’t involved in the standoff, but he struck a sympathetic tone.

“That’s not exactly what I thought should happen, but I didn’t know what to do,” he said. “You know, if the Hammonds wouldn’t stand, if the sheriff didn’t stand, then, you know, the people had to do something. And I guess this is what they did decide to do. I wasn’t in on that.”

Late Saturday, the occupiers blocked the entrance of the federal headquarters with a pickup truck and placed an American flag over the welcome sign, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting. An Oregon State Police car “idled by the side of the road just outside Burns,” the broadcaster reported, but there were no signs of a larger law enforcement presence in the area.

“We are not hurting anybody or damaging any property.,” Ammon Bundy told OPB. “We would expect that they understand that we have given them no reason to use lethal force upon us or any other force.”

Ron Gainer, the owner of a nearby RV park who dropped off some chili for the occupiers, told the broadcaster that he counted about 15 people, a half-dozen vehicles and a trailer at the site. The estimate differed sharply from the Bundy family accounting, which put the number of people at the refuge at about 150, according to OPB.

By nightfall, the broadcaster noted, the temperature had plummeted to 10 degrees, prompting occupiers to bundle around a campfire. Some of those present identified themselves as nearby residents and supporters of the convicted ranchers.

Asked by an OPB reporter how many militia members were at the headquarters, Bundy didn’t divulge. “I will not disclose,” he said. “Operational security.”

BREAKING: Feds prep for Waco style raid of Bundy Ranch

    Published on Apr 9, 2014

    MAKE THIS VIDEO VIRAL!!!

NEVADA | In the state of Nevada, Cliven Bundy and his family are currently caught in a fight over land with the Federal government. This is over his long standing refusal to acknowledge a 1993 modification to grazing rights on the land.

Bundy claims the land has been in his family since the 1800s. On Saturday, hundreds of federal officials, helicopters, low flying aircraft and hired cowboys, began rounding up Bundy's cattle in northeastern Clark County.

Bundy stated to the media, "I have raised cattle on that land, which is public land for the people of Clark County, all my life. Why I raise cattle there and why I can raise cattle there is because I have preemptive rights... who is the trespasser here? Who is the trespasser on this land? Is the United States trespassing on Clark County, Nevada, land? Or is it Cliven Bundy who is trespassing on Clark County, Nevada, land? Who's the trespasser?"

More than 100 supporters violated a crudely taped off "First Amendment Area" to rally in support of the Bundy family. They erected two flagpoles with the words "We the People" above a flag which read, "Liberty Freedom For God We Stand". The first amendment area stood empty, with one sign nearby declaring, "1st Amendment is not an area."

The feds say the move is about enforcing the law and protecting the endangered desert tortoise, but the Bundy family says the spat represents a showdown between big government and American farmers.

The Feds claim that the removal of the cattle from the land will cost taxpayers roughly $ 3 million.

Feds Use Attack Dogs, Tasers on Protesters Defending Nevada Rancher

By Gina Cassinion April 10, 2014

The long-simmering dispute between a Nevada cattle rancher and the federal Bureau of Land Management boiled over Wednesday, resulting in a near riot. http://toprightnews.com/?p=2393

The BLM disgracefully created a ‘designated First Amendment Area’ outside of which free speech is apparently banned. http://www.infowars.com/nevada-gover...bundy-dispute/ These protesters decided to pursue their free speech rights outside that area…and the video is the ugly result.

On a Nevada highway, protesters faced off against federal agents armed with taser guns and police dogs. Again and again, the two sides clashed, with a man appearing to be tased more than once as he kicked a dog.

Ammon Bundy, the son of rancher Cliven Bundy, claimed he was the one being tased, according to the CBS affiliate KLAS-TV. http://www.8newsnow.com/story/252081...s-seize-cattle

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has rightly denounced the “1st Amendment area” limitation — but what is he going to DO about this dangerous overreach of Federal environmental agencies against an innocent Nevada citizen? He needs to send the highway patrol to this area to stop this before something tragic occurs.

Where is state sovereignty? Have we just given it up completely? First Arizona and SB1070. Now this?

A video obtained from Guerilla Media Network captured the confrontation as it took place. http://beforeitsnews.com/r2/?url=htt...dianetwork.com

Man Imprisoned for Collecting Rainwater on his Own Land
July 9, 2014 By Todd Cefaratti

On Wednesday, a man entered a jail cell in Oregon to pay his supposed debt to society. The man’s crime? He collected rainwater on his own land.

Yes-that’s right; an Oregon man is serving a jail sentence for having had the audacity to collect rainwater on his land. This is what our government has become.

For years, Gary Harrington has battled with the Oregon Water Resources Department over reservoirs on his land that collected rainwater. The water officials claim that Harrington is violating a 1925 law by diverting water from the Big Butte River.

Harrington claims that he has done nothing of the sort and has just collected rainwater.

Harrington began his sentence on Wednesday and will be out in 30 days. He incurred a fine of $1500, was found guilty of nine misdemeanors, and sentenced to serve 30 days in jail.

When Harrington arrived at the jail, he was greeted by several people showing support for the man and he offered a few words of encouragement, saying, “I’m sacrificing my liberty so we can stand up as a country and stand for our liberty.”

In a recent interview, Harrington stated about the government,

“They’ve just gotten to be big bullies and if you just lay over and die and give up, that just makes them bigger bullies.”

"We as Americans, we need to stand on our constitutional rights, on our rights as citizens and hang tough. This is a good country, we’ll prevail,” he said.
Is this what our government has become? Is this a service to the people?

Like the Bundy ranch standoff, people may view this case and conclude different levels of wrongdoing by Harrington. I believe that the government’s position is ridiculous just as I believe the government’s position with regards to the Bundy situation was ridiculous- but others may disagree.

What we should all be able to agree upon, however, is that in both instances, the government’s reaction was wholly inappropriate. A jail sentence and a criminal record that will fall Harrington forever is not the solution to a violation as minor as collecting rainwater on one’s land.

    http://www.tpnn.com/2014/07/09/tyran...-his-own-land/

According to the law in Oregon, as soon as the rain leaves the clouds, it belongs to the state of Oregon. Even if you have a wheelbarrow that accidentally catch's rain, you can get a ticket. IT is so stupid law, it should be thrown out.

    ..

I agree these laws are stupid. If the rain belongs to the state can I sue the state for the erosion it does to my land?

    ..

File the lawsuit, site the above case as proof that the Oregon Government and court system have systematically set a precedence and that it is THEIR water, and seeing as how the water has caused damage, it is THEIR fault and you will not be denied your just recompense

    ..

Hmmm...you may be on to something. If all precipitation belongs to the State, then you should be able to sue them for floods, accidental drownings, auto accidents on slick roads, trees brought down by ice storms and a thousand other mishaps. After all, if it's their water, they should be held responsible for any damage it causes.

    ..

A man out west was arrested for having a rain barrel under the downspout from his roof gutters to water his houseplants. The spirit of the law was to prevent people upstream from withholding water from people downstream. It has been perverted like everything else.

What's Happening in Oregon? The Malheur Refuge Militia Standoff, Explained
    By Claire Lampen

An ad hoc militia seized control of the government-managed Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Oregon, on Friday, vowing that they would hunker down in the building for "several years," according to a video Sarah Dee Spurlock posted Saturday to Facebook. At issue is the case of two Harney County ranchers — Dwight Lincoln Hammond Jr. and his son, Steven Dwight Hammond — who were re-sentenced in 2015 for two fires they lit in 2001 and 2006, according to the Tri-State Livestock News. As the Oregonian reported Saturday, occupation followed the march of some 300 protesters through Burns.

"While we're here," a militia spokesperson says in the video, "what we're going to be doing is we're going to be freeing the lands up and getting the ranchers back to ranching, getting the miners back to mining, getting the loggers back to logging where they can do it under the protection of the people, and not be afraid of this tyranny that's been upon them."

Among the militiamen are Ammon and Ryan Bundy, whose last name won't be an unfamiliar one for anyone who follows the fight for land rights in the west. But what does the Bundy family have to do with the Hammond family, and why are the Hammonds only now serving time for fires lit over a decade ago? Here's everything we know about the Oregon militia standoff.

Who are the Hammonds? The Hammond family owns Hammond Ranches Inc. in Diamond, Oregon. They hold some 12,00 acres of private land, the Idaho Press reported, as well as grazing rights for upwards of 25,000 acres on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. Dwight and Steven Hammond run the ranch, and so they are the recipients of the charges.

Why are they on trial? In 2001, the Hammonds set fire to a segment of their BLM-overlap land in order to "burn off invasive species on that section," and with the BLM's blessing. The Tri-State Livestock News reported the fire spread to 139 acres of public land, and although the Hammonds hadn't meant it to, they weren't first-time offenders: In 1999, the spread of a BLM-sanctioned fire onto public land prompted the government to warn the family that "serious consequences" would follow a second slip-up.

In 2006, lightning sparked a fire on federal land bordering the Hammonds' private holdings, the source of their winter feed. What TSLN calls the "Krumbo-Butte" blaze was the ranchers' effort to preserve their crops from being burned up, a backfire that damaged an approximate acre of government land.

What's the sentence? It wasn't until 2010 that the BLM brought charges against Dwight and Steven under the 1996 Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Act, according to the Idaho Press. As the Oregonian reported, the two were found guilty of perpetrating arson on government land after a two-week trial in 2012, and were expected to serve the mandatory minimum of five years in prison for the crime.

However, then-U.S. District Judge Michael Hogan thought the punishment "grossly disproportionate" to the ranchers' offenses, according to TSLN. In their sentencing hearing, the Register Guard reported, Hogan awarded Steven Hammond one year and one day behind bars for the two fires, and Dwight Hammond three months in prison for his role in setting the 2001 fire.

According to the Register Guard, Hogan's ruling didn't sit well with the Oregon government, which appealed his decision on the grounds that it disregarded the legal minimum sentence for such a violation. In October, the father and son were given five years of prison time each, "with credit for the time they already served" following their 2012 sentencing, according to the Oregon District Attorney's office.

Where does the Bundy family fit in? According to the Oregonian's report Saturday, Ammon Bundy has taken up the Hammond's cause, having met with Dwight Hammond in November, attempting to convince the elder rancher not to show up for his prison term on Monday. Both Hammonds intend to show up for and serve out their sentences.

The Hammonds' cause is a personal one for Ammon Bundy, the New York Times reported. The son of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, Ammon is no stranger to the battle between private landholders and the federal government. In 2014, he mired himself in an armed standoff with BLM rangers who had been ordered to seize some 500 head of cattle from the rancher, who had allowed the animals to graze on public lands without a permit, according to the Times. Eventually, the federal agents desisted, but the Bundys still have beef with the government.

In another video Facebook post, Ammon explained the purpose of protesting for the rights of Oregon land owners: "We're out here because the people have been abused long enough, really, to the point where it's putting them literally in poverty," continuing that he and the militia would occupy the government building until the moment "when the people of Harney County can use the land and resources without being put in fear, and without being restricted to the point that it puts them out of business."

Militiamen take a stand against feds to protest ranchers’ jail sentence, but there’s a twist…
Written by Michele Hickford, Editor-in-Chief on January 3, 2016

Remember in April of 2014 (seems like ages ago) when rancher Cliven Bundy took a stand against the federal government regarding “grazing fees” the government said Bundy owed? Bundy became a lightening rod for patriotism as scores of protestors, some of them armed and on horseback, held a stand off against the Bureau of Land Management. Bundy became an overnight sensation until he made comments about “the Negro” being better off as slaves rather than living under government subsidies. Then he was dropped like a hot spud.

Well, the Bundy family is back in the news again. This time it’s Cliven’s son, Ammon, who’s leading a protest in Oregon on behalf of two ranchers.

In this case, Dwight Hammond, 73, and Steven Hammond, 46, said they lit fires in 2001 and 2006 to reduce the growth of invasive plants and protect their property from wildfires. As CBS News reports, http://www.cbsnews.com/news/oregon-r...ly-occupation/
“The two were convicted of the arsons three years ago and served time – the father three months, the son one year. But a judge ruled their terms were too short under federal law and ordered them back to prison for about four years each.

The decision has generated controversy in a remote part of the state.

In particular, the Hammonds’ new sentences touched a nerve with far right groups who repudiate federal authority.”

Dwight Hammond has said he and his son plan to peacefully report to prison Jan. 4 as ordered by the judge.

Remember: It’s not about me, it’s about America and somehow we have to get the wheels back on this wagon because they are flying off,” Dwight Hammond told KOIN. He said he feels his upcoming prison term is a life sentence.

“I’m not very happy about that. Just don’t know what to say,” Hammond said. “It just seems like a little overreach for having burned 127 acres.”
Ammon Bundy posted a video on his Facebook page asking for militia members to come help him, saying “this is not a time to stand down. It’s a time to stand up and come to Harney County” (where Burns is located). Below the video he added: “ALL PATRIOTS ITS TIME TO STAND UP NOT STAND DOWN!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! COME PREPARED.”

The group is demanding the Hammonds be released and the federal government give up control of the Malheur National Forest, according to the Daily Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ail-arson.html

As we reported here, the federal government owns vast portions of land in the west. http://www.allenbwest.com/2014/08/ma...doesnt-bother/

However, the Hammond family doesn’t really want their help. CBS says,
“Neither Ammon Bundy nor anyone within his group/organization speak for the Hammond Family,” the Hammonds’ lawyer W. Alan Schroeder wrote to Sheriff David Ward.”
Nonetheless, Bundy and his group planned continue to occupy the Malheur National Wildlife refuge building in Princeton, Oregon for as long as it takes.

In an interview with reporters late Saturday night that was posted on Facebook, Bundy said he and others are occupying the building because “the people have been abused long enough.”

“I feel we are in a situation where if we do not do something, if we do not take a hard stand, we’ll be in a position where we’ll be no longer able to do so,” he said.

Bundy said the group planned to stay at the refuge indefinitely. “We’re planning on staying here for years, absolutely,” Ammon Bundy said. “This is not a decision we’ve made at the last minute.”
What do you think, folks? Has it come to this in our nation? And is this just the tip of the iceberg, or just a few crazies in cowboy hats?

Key fact: Hammonds targeted because government wants to steal their land

Dwight Hammond, 73 and son Steven Hamond, 46, were prosecuted and convicted as part of an effort to remove the Hammond family from their ranch land.

In October Tri-State Livestock News did a story on the Hammonds and the sentence they received for inadvertently burning about 140 acres of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rangeland in two separate fires.

“The jury convicted both of the Hammonds of using fire to destroy federal property for a 2001 arson known as the Hardie-Hammond Fire, located in the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area,” states a Department of Justice news release cited by the livestock industry trade publication.

According to the article the BLM often worked with ranchers on collaborative burns to manage invasive juniper that steal water from grass and other cover. Erin Maupin, a former BLM range technician and watershed specialist and rancher in the area, said backfires by other ranchers had burned BLM land in the past and the agency had not taken action.

During her tenure as a full-time BLM employee from 1997-1999, Maupin recalled other fires accidentally spilling over onto BLM land, but only the Hammonds have been charged, arrested and sentenced, she said. Ranchers “would call and the BLM would go and help put it out and it was not a big deal.”

On the other hand, Maupin said, there were numerous instances of BLM fires spreading to private land and ranchers losing significant numbers of cattle and other property. Maupin said she was unaware of the BLM compensating ranchers for destroyed property.

Such recklessness is not limited to Oregon:

In 2013, two South Dakota prescribed burns started by the U.S. Forest Service—over the objections of area landowners—blew out of control, burning thousands of acres of federal and private land. Ranchers that suffered property damage from the Pautre fire in Perkins County, South Dakota filed extensive tort claims in accordance with federal requirements, but will receive no compensation because USDA found the U.S. Forest Service not responsible for that fire.
    Government Targeted Hammonds

As part of a deal to fend off an effort by the federal government to designate Steens Mountain as a federal monument, ranchers traded their BLM permits and private property for land on the valley floor. This allowed Congress to create a 170,000 acre wilderness in 2000.

“The last holdouts on that cow-free wilderness are the Hammonds,” said Maupin.

“It’s become more and more obvious over the years that the BLM and the wildlife refuge want that ranch. It would tie in with what they have,” Rusty Inglis, an area rancher and retired US Forest Service employee, told the trade publication.

The BLM prevented the Hammonds from watering their cattle by draining a water hole. Government scientists and resource managers supported the use of the water hole, but they were defeated by high level bureaucrats backed special interest anti-grazing groups. The Oregon Natural Desert Association worked with the government to deny the family a lease on a parcel of land that bordered the refuge “in order to expand the cow-free wilderness,” according to Maupin.

In addition, the BLM refused to renew a permit that allowed the ranchers to use a large amount of intermingled private land.

“We have done everything according to their rules and regulations and there is no reason that they should not give us back our permit. We don’t understand how a federal land management agency can ‘take’ personal private property (checkerboarded with BLM land) in this manner,” said Susan Hammond, Dwight’s wife.

During a plea agreement on the arson charge in 2012 the Hammonds agreed to allow the BLM to obtain the first right of refusal should the family sell their private land.

“The Hammond family is not arsonists. They are number one, top-notch. They know their land management,” said Inglis. “We are not in Nazi Germany. We are in the United States of America.”

    A Wealth of Natural Resources

After the Hammonds are gone the federal government will be free to fully exploit natural resources on federal and “monument” land in Harney County.

A US Geological Survey Bulletin (1740-B) indicates there is a high potential for silver, gold, copper, mercury, uranium and molybdenum (a refractory metallic element used principally as an alloying agent in steel) and other resources in the area. There is also a moderate estimate for natural gas and oil.

The feds want to drive ranchers and private property owners off the land because on patented land (an exclusive private property land grant), which has passed into private ownership, a mining interest does not need to lease land or file a plan or notice with the federal government.

In regard to oil, the BLM “does not tell you that its share of total oil production has dropped dramatically due to substantial increases in oil production on private and state lands that are not subject to the onerous regulations and permitting delays of the federal government,” notes the Institute for Energy Research.

The Hammonds and other private property owners stand in the way of total federal monopolization of natural resources and that is why in part we are witnessing an unprecedented land grab in the West.

“Much of the land targeted for government takeover holds great oil and natural gas resources which could provide jobs in the energy industry and a flow of resources from our own American supply. Once those lands become ‘monuments’, access to those natural resources is limited and in the hands of the federal government,” explains the Property Rights Alliance.

“The government offers little explanation for the land-grab frenzy, but there are plenty of reasons to oppose it. First and foremost, it is unconstitutional for the government to simply take land from states without compensation. Second, government-controlled land takes away opportunities for development, particularly when it comes to accessing much-needed resources. The land designated as ‘monument’ space could have created dozens of employment opportunities—opportunities which will go wasted under the thumb of the federal government.”

Harry Reid Owns 93 Acres Next to Bundy Ranch

Harry Reid has run 52 ranchers out of business so far, just like their recent efforts with Cliven Bundy, because of his ownership in Reid Bunkerville, LLC, which holds 93 acres in Nevada.

The parcels seem to be in the way of future development with the Chinese, which may even involve a freeway interchange and loop, and all sit west of the same general area as the land where all these ‘trespassing cattle’ graze.

We all know that the Reid crime syndicate had ulterior motives for the attacks on Cliven Bundy. Here’s the proof.

Below are the parcel numbers of land which the Clark County Assessors Office lists as owned by Reid Bunkerville, LLC, who coincidentally updated their company records on April 17, 2014. The parcel map with ownership data will be shown for the three parcels Reid Bunkerville, LLC owns, below the linked parcel numbers.

    REID BUNKERVILLE L L C DST-901 #002-26-301-002

    REID BUNKERVILLE L L C DST-800 #002-26-301-004

    REID BUNKERVILLE L L C DST-800 #002-26-301-005

    REID BUNKERVILLE L L C DST-800 #002-26-701-001

To put some of this into context and to provide readers a starting point on why parcels and ownership listings are not only important but should be researched extensively, please note that three of those four parcel numbers above are listed as Bunkerville jurisdiction, where Mr. Cliven Bundy’s ranch is located.

Parcels above and below are listed as owned by USA, jurisdiction listed as Mesquite, two examples of that shown below.

    USA #002-26-202-001

    USA #002-26-301-001

The last one listed above for Reid Bunkerville, LLC, (REID BUNKERVILLE L L C DST-800 #002-26-701-001) directly borders another parcel in Bunkerville, and shows the “owner” as Bureau of Land Management (BLM), not the USA as the examples above are.

    REID BUNKERVILLE L L C DST-800 #002-26-701-001

According to descriptions of the BLM, their job is to “administer” or “manage” public lands, yet they are listed as “owners” of the parcel directly connected to the Reid Bunkerville parcel.

It is also noteworthy that a Google map from Mesquite Nevada, through Bunkerville, down to Riverside, goes up to a fully functional and built intersection that loops back around to Mesquite, shown in the image below.

Zoning and development are driven by “business loops”, which use high speed intersections from freeways that cost taxpayers millions of dollars. These can instantly raise property values for landowners in the right place who know where the development is going to happen. Decisions for the infrastructure are controlled by state and local and generally involve money from the federal government.

Provided link is a comprehensive report of properties owned by Reid Bunkerville Trust and Reid Bunkerville LLC, showing over 30 properties in the Bunkerville and Mesquite area.

Oregon U.S. Attorney resigns amid investigation

Sara Roth, KGW News 5:16 p.m. PDT April 24, 2015

Update: Amanda Marshall has resigned, citing health issues, a spokeswoman for the Attorney's office confirmed. The Oregonian reports Marshall sent a note to colleagues and the resignation is effective May 15.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, Amanda Marshall, has taken a leave of absence from her position as the top federal prosecutor in the state.

Gerri Badden, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, confirmed that Amanda Marshall is on leave. She would not provide any additional information about the leave and said no press advisory would be issued. Marshall is still listed as the U.S. Attorney for Oregon on the U.S. Department of Justice website.

Bill Williams, who was Marshall's first assistant, has taken over as acting U.S. Attorney.

Although DOJ officials are keeping quiet about any reasons why Marshall would take leave, Marshall told The Oregonian that she has been having health issues for months and "can't serve right now."

The newspaper also reported that the U.S. Justice Department is investigating a relationship Marshall had with assistant U.S. Attorney Scott M. Kerin, a subordinate of Marshall's. According to Oregonian sources, Kerin tried to break off a relationship with Marshall and he reported it to Justice Department superiors.

Badden would not confirm whether an investigation has been opened. Kerin is married to a federal prosecutor; Marshall is married to a Yamhill County Circuit Court judge.

The Oregonian also talked to Charese Rohny, an employment lawyer hired by Marshall. Rohny said she spoke with the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and was told that Kerin, not his client, was the subject of the investigation.

In a statement Monday, the OIG said that was untrue.

"The statements in the article attributed to a lawyer for U.S. Attorney Marshall do not accurately represent the position of the OIG. Consistent with our policies regarding OIG investigations, we will not comment further," said spokesman John Lavinsky.

Adding to the strange situation, the Willamette Week reported Monday that Kerin was under armed protection because his life was threatened by Mexican drug dealers. Emails obtained by the Willamette Week said Kerin asked Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Edmonds to act as interim Drug Unit Chief while he remained under protective detail.

Amanda Marshall took over as U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon in September 2011. In her position, she managed a staff of more than 100 people in three Oregon offices and oversaw all Oregon federal and civil cases on behalf of the United States.

Marshall's office recently opened an investigation into former Governor John Kitzhaber's and his fiancee, Cylvia Hayes, amid reports that the couple used Kitzhaber's position as governor for Hayes' financial gain. That investigation is ongoing.

Dems Horrified When Shocking Truth About Oregon Standoff Comes Out… Obama Totally Silent

The way one member of the liberal mainstream media establishment chose to respond to the crisis in Burns, Oregon, where armed militia members commandeered the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in support of rancher Dwight Hammond and his son, Steven, spoke volumes about not just the media’s bias, but its hypocrisy as well.

Jonathan Chait, a liberal blowhard at New York magazine, would like to see the militiamen involved in the Oregon standoff gunned down like animals.

On Sunday, reporter Ian Kullgren revealed on Twitter that he had talked to lead militiaman Ryan Bundy and that Bundy had told him “they’re willing to kill and be killed if necessary.”

“Do we get to vote on this?” Chait tweeted back in reply. “Because I’m voting for #2.”

might be mistaken, but it sounded to me as if Chait publicly advocated for violence against citizens of the United States. Yet his pals in the liberal media establishment made no fuss about his statement, because apparently, calling for violence against protesters is now suddenly OK.

Moreover, in a video uploaded to Facebook that very same day, militiaman Jon Ritzheimer specifically said, “We will not fire unless fired upon.”

“We will stand and defend the Constitution,” he added. “We are within our rights.”

But even after this militiaman pledged to remain peaceful unless the government first turns violent, the liberal media remained silent about Chait’s “vote.”

And President Barack Obama, who had no problem inserting himself into local matters like the Trayvon Martin shooting or the Ferguson riots, apparently has nothing to say about liberal calls for bloodshed.

Imagine what might have transpired had a prominent conservativesaid the same thing about the Ferguson protesters, the Baltimore protesters, or any of the “Black Lives Matter” gang.

The irony is that when protesters act out violently by smashing windows, looting stores and burning their own cities, the liberal media cheer in glee. Yet when peaceful militiamen take over a single facility in protest of government overreach without destroying so much as a backyard shed, the same Democrat-supporting media charlatans hope for their death.

Hopefully, Americans are paying close attention and learning a pivotal lesson about their leftist media.

The Crucial Difference Between Donbass and Oregon

Despite a few superficial similarities, the difference between the rebellion in eastern Ukraine and armed Oregon ranchers standing off with the US federal government couldn’t be greater.

A lack of understanding regarding the nature of power and how it is brokered has led to many mistakenly believing there is any merit to what the Oregon ranchers are doing, besides providing an example of precisely how not to stand up against increasingly tyrannical special interests. This is not to say the ranchers, or even Occupy Wall Street should not be standing up against the US government, it is just that they are going about it in completely the wrong way – compounding their problems, not solving them.

Perhaps by examining the numerous and critical differences between the Donbass fighters and the Oregon ranchers, readers can see the chasm between the two, and perhaps how, in certain aspects, to bridge that chasm.

    Donbass vs. Oregon

    1. Backing: Donbass has the backing of a superpower – Russia. This includes substantial backing across the media, in terms of political support, and logistical and military support ranging from the implicit threat of Russian retaliation should Kiev and its NATO backers step over certain lines, to – according to NATO – direct military assistance.

In all likelihood, the only superpower backing the Oregon ranchers is the US federal government itself – not a single militia in the US has gone un-infiltrated in the last several decades. Geopolitical analyst Eric Draitser in a recent piece admits he is unsure as to the true motives and intentions of the Oregon ranchers, but has dug up a significant amount of information casting serious doubts over not only their objectives, but the very character of its leadership.

    2. Weaponry: The Donbass fighters have a standing army which includes machine guns, military-grade rifles, rockets, missiles (including anti-aircraft systems), artillery, counter-battery radar, and even main battle tanks. They have the infrastructure to resupply front lines with food, weapons, and fuel, and the ability to protect their logistical lines leading to and from areas of engagement.

The Oregon ranchers have 5.56mm rifles, which can be quickly overwhelmed by numerical superiority, superior firepower, and armor – of which the federal government has all in much abundance.

    3. Supporting Networks: The Donbass fighters are but one factor in a much larger eastern Ukrainian rebellion. They function under their own government which controls all infrastructure from electricity to water to communications in the region. They also have a functioning economy and are receiving significant humanitarian aid from neighboring Russia.

The Oregon ranchers have some boxes of supplies they bought from the very Fortune 500 corporations that created the overbearing regime they are “standing up” against. Their failure to build a sufficient and sustainable infrastructure to underpin their armed confrontation illustrates a significant lack of foresight and strategic thinking, a lack of thinking not shared by the federal government it has taken up arms against.

    4. Endgame: The Donbass fighters are part of a larger movement seeking to create an entirely self-sufficient, functional political entity. In many ways they have already succeeded in doing this. They are doing so with overwhelming military force, and tremendous popular support both locally and abroad.

The Oregon ranchers have already painted themselves into a corner with their polarizing ideology and the outright racism and bigotry exhibited by several of their members. They’ve automatically alienated themselves from many other Americans who might have otherwise supported them if they used more sensible methods and had an actual plan worth supporting.

    5. Understanding: The fighters in Donbass know their enemy lies far beyond the Ukrainian soldiers they face on the front lines. They know it ultimately goes even beyond Kiev – all the way to Brussels, NATO, and even Washington, and they’ve been clearly factored this into their strategy from day-one.

The problem the Oregon ranchers are standing up to is not just a federal agency dealing with land use – it is a problem that can be traced all the way back to Washington and Wall Street. A strategy that has not accounted for this or developed any sort of plan to confront, is doomed to fail.

What Those Supporting the Oregon Ranchers Should Do

While lengthy, the article, “Showdown in Oregon: How to – and How Not to Fight Tyranny,” introduces readers to the very playbook used by empires and rebels alike regarding insurgency and counterinsurgency. It lays out how real resistance – or the rolling back of an entrenched system -requires more than just armed force. It requires socioeconomic considerations, control over crucial infrastructure, economic plans, education, inclusive political agendas, and much more.

The playbook is essentially the recipe for wresting power away from one party, and placing it into the hands of another and would work just as well for the “good guys” as it has for the “bad guys.” And while much of it requires patience and hard work, it should be noted that the people of Donbass have followed all of the prescribed actions for taking and keeping power and have succeeded, while groups like the Oregon ranchers and Occupy Wall Street have followed virtually none of them and have failed both utterly and repeatedly.

To point out the shortcomings of the Oregon ranchers or the Occupy Wall Street protesters is not saying that people living under a truly unjust system should not stand up against it. It is saying instead that they have gone about it in demonstrably the wrong way. They are now being handed the very playbook that has been used against them. It is up to them to stop playing make-believe, to pick it up and read it, and more importantly, begin realistically applying it.
