It's official Tropical Storm #Bill has been declared. A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the coast of Texas from Baffin Bay to High Island. Here is the projected path with landfall sometime tomorrow along the #Texas Gulf Coast. Tropical storm conditions are likely along portions of the middle and upper Texas coast, and possible in extreme southwestern #Louisiana, tonight and Tuesday. The system is also likely to bring heavy rainfall with possible flooding across portions of eastern Texas and western Louisiana. 7AM NHC Update: Tropical Storm #Bill pressure has fallen, with winds up to 60mph. Tracking into Texas as a depression and eventually toward Illinois at the end of the week

4AM CDT: 2nd advisory on Tropical Storm Bill. Anyone near the current projected path please hunker down now and follow all local warnings. Bill is nearing the coast and you can now see the main convection coming in on radar. Now with sustained winds of 50mph it looks to me that the storm is trying to strengthen a little more before landfall. Main concern: FLOODING. #Tropical101: A very rare event called the brown ocean effect possibly occurring right now with Tropical Storm Bill. Most Hurricane and Tropical Storm winds and rain bands weaken rapidly as soon as they cross land. Bill might actually sustain Tropical Depression winds as far inland as Dallas and rain bands tonight are actually starting to intensify! Crazy rare and amazing to see this happen. With all the rainfall that has occurred in Texas in the month of May, the ground is very saturated and wet, and given that the ground is also warm the land can act as a warm ocean, hence the name “Brown Ocean Effect”.
