Abilene officer murdered at home in planned, coordinated attack by ‘multiple parties’

Yet another officer has been killed this week in what is being described as having been planned by multiple parties to kill an Abilene police officer in his home. The slain officer has been identified as Don Allen by the chief of police. According to a local news source, Big Country Homepage, a search warrant for cell tower information included the following:

This ruling isn’t official, but a direct quote from the documents reads, “communication occurred between multiple parties to plan and carry out the murder. [The officer filing the warrant] believes cell towers within the ten mile radius will have captured transaction between the suspects who were involved in this murder.”
Little information has been made available to the public at this point, but it has been released that the FBI, Texas DPS, Texas Rangers and other agencies have joined in the investigation. Authorities have said this was not a random targeting of a police officer.

“His family is heartbroken, as is our police family,” said an Abilene police spokesman according to WFAA.

We will update this story as information becomes available. Full press release from Abilene PD below.

OFFICER DEATH INVESTIGATION ABILENE, TX – On August 31, 2015, the Clyde Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a south side residence shortly after 7 pm indicating a man had been found deceased in the home. When police arrived, they found the body of off-duty Abilene Police Officer Don Allen. He was the only person inside the residence when found by family members. The manner of death was clearly suspicious, so the Clyde Police Department contacted the Abilene Police Department and Texas Rangers for assistance. All three agencies and the FBI have now been working through this investigation non-stop, and we will continue until those responsible are taken into custody. This investigation is being treated as a homicide. At this time, there does not appear to be any danger to members of the Clyde community, nor is there any indication that random law enforcement personnel are being targeted.

I will defer all other questions about this investigation to the Texas Rangers, of whom Ranger Shane Morrow is primary. My primary purpose of this media conference is to give Abilene a keen understanding of the great man and great peace officer that we lost yesterday. Before Abilene hired Don, he was working as an officer in Cisco, Texas. He had been with that agency for a year and 5 months. What really impressed us about Don was the fact that he applied for Abilene and indicated he wanted to go through our full police academy, versus an abbreviated lateral academy. This entailed another long and grueling six months of training. He completed the training, and in doing so gained lifelong friends and tremendous respect for fully adopting Abilene’s core values. Officer Don Allen graduated from Police Academy Class 51 along with 14 other officers. As a peace officer, he had accrued 1,400 training hours. His total service time as a Texas Peace Officer was 3 years and 3 months.

Officer Allen is survived by his parents of Clyde, as well as two brothers and a sister. This family is heartbroken over the loss of their loved one, as is our police family. Parents should not have to bury their children, and this family certainly needs our love and prayers during this time. Officer Allen was engaged to be married, having proposed to his fiancé on July 12th. The Police Department, Police Association, Police Spouses Association, and our Chaplain have worked together to comfort these family members during this time. Visitation is set for Thursday, September 3rd from 5 to 7 pm in the Chapel at Beltway Park Church, located at 4009 Beltway South, Abilene. Services will then be Friday, September 4th at 10 am

Florida man accused of pointing laser light at sheriff's helicopter
    Published September 03, 2015

OCALA, Fla. – A 55-year-old north Florida man is accused of shining a laser light into the cockpit of a Marion County Sheriff's helicopter.

Deputies arrested Mark Allen Geoghagan on Wednesday, hours after they say he pointed the light at the helicopter. It's unclear whether he has an attorney.

The Ocala Star-Banner (http://bit.ly/1FkQV7q ) reports the pilot and tactical flight officer were assisting deputies with a suspicious vehicle investigation when the helicopter was struck with the light three to four times. The laser temporarily blinded the pilot and briefly affected his night vision goggles.

The pilot and officer then helped direct deputies to Geoghagan's address. Geoghagan told deputies the device was a laser comb.

Geoghagan told deputies he didn't mean to harm anyone and asked if he could do anything to help them.

Las Vegas shooting: Officers ambushed at traffic light
By Tony Marco and Catherine E. Shoichet, CNN - Updated 7:54 PM ET, Mon September 7, 2015

A man ambushed two officers who'd stopped their patrol car at a traffic light Sunday in Las Vegas, police said.

An officer who was shot in the hand was being treated at a hospital, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sgt. John Sheahan said. He was in good condition.

"Luckily -- I want to repeat, luckily -- our officer was only hit in the hand. It could have been much, much worse," he said.

Police haven't released the identity of the suspect. The suspect gave authorities multiple addresses and was "not very forthcoming as far as identity, as far as where he lives," the sergeant told CNN, explaining, "That's been pinned down now."

The Clark County, Nevada, district attorney will elaborate during a news conference Tuesday, Sheahan said.

The officers were in a marked patrol car, police said, responding to a disturbance call at a 99-cent store. As they sat at the intersection in front of the store, waiting for the light to change so they could turn, the suspect apparently walked into traffic with a .40-caliber handgun and "fired off more than a couple" of shots at the officers, Sheahan said.

"They were ambushed on the way to that call," he said.

Texas deputy killed 'execution-style' while fueling patrol car, authorities say

The suspect took off, and the patrol car's driver, who was not shot, chased and caught the suspect in a nearby parking lot, Sheahan said. Witnesses saw the suspect "throw the weapon up against the curb as he ran into the parking lot of a nearby 7-Eleven," he said.

"I want to stress what type of restraint our officers used in not opening fire on this subject," he said.

Undersheriff Kevin McMahill also praised the officers, saying they showed "remarkable restraint" when they took the suspect into custody.

"These officers are going out there and being attacked while they are sitting in a police car, and we didn't fire a single shot back at him," he told CNN affiliate KSNV-TV.

The department has changed the way it deploys officers, sending out two-officer units "because of the narrative of violence against police across the country," McMahill said.

"We are certainly working on pins and needles," he told KSNV. "(That is) part of the reason we doubled them up. So we have two officers available immediately whenever an incident occurs."

White House ENRAGED After Fed Up Cops Turn Their Backs on Obama’s Labor Day Speech in Boston
    Jack Dylan - Sep 8, 2015

“Our members are enraged at his lack of support of law enforcement.”

Police officers have become sitting ducks since Ferguson, because of horrific treatment by the media and the Obama Administration. As the “Black Lives Matter” hate group has ratcheted up their sick rhetoric, there has been a complete absence of leadership telling them to stop.

Twenty-three cops have been gunned down in the line of duty in 2015 so far, with four months yet to go. ( Nine in a two week period )

And as Sheriff David Clarke said last week, it is Obama himself who started the “War on Police” rhetoric top begin with.

Well, today, Obama was in Boston for his Labor Day Speech, with hundreds of dignitaries invited, and police typically greeting the president after the event.

Not this year. Because the Boston Police Union decided to show Obama what cops think of him…and BOYCOTTED it…leading Administration officials to send an angry response to the Mayor.

From Gateway Pundit via Boston Herald:

Jerry Flynn, a Lowell cop on leave while serving as executive director of the New England Police Benevolent Association, said his organization’s executive board has chosen to boycott President Obama’s Labor Day breakfast address in Boston today to make a statement about violence against police:

“Our members are enraged at his lack of support of law enforcement. It’s clear that he has an agenda, and unfortunately the police are not part of his agenda.

Let’s face it, (there have been) eight people killed in a nine-day period, eight police officers, and Obama’s silence has been deafening.

This is a horror show, this is an epidemic of lawless people trying to kill police officers for no apparent reasons. Case in point is the lieutenant who was pumping gas in Houston. Over 7,000 people were at that church, and where was he (Obama)? Why wasn’t he there instead of a unity breakfast?”

Referring to the looting and destruction in Ferguson, Mo., following the shooting of Michael Brown, Flynn continued:

“I mean, he had the opportunity to do things then and he didn’t, and all he’s done is escalated and allowed these people that are hellbent on causing problems to do so. We can’t continue to have people who have no intention to do anything but to be disruptive. These aren’t good citizens. These are thugs set out to cause problems.

Obama sparked the war on cops — particularly White officers — in his first six months in office. When his former professor Henry Louis Gates started a confrontation with Cambridge Police near Harvard, Obama injected himself into the situation, saying the cops “acted stupidly,” outraging police nationwide.

After Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, Obama race-baited the case, promoting the fraudulent “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” narrative that never happened. And he even sent three Administration officials to Brown’s funeral despite the fact that Brown was a thug who tried to kill a cop, before he was shot.

Last week, Texas Deputy Darren Goforth was gunned down in cold blood, and two officers in Vegas were yesterday in Las Vegas, for no reason other than the perpetrators were targeting cops for death.

Police Lives Matter, and the fact that the president is doing nothing about the vile rhetoric and brutality toward cops speaks volumes.

Obama loves to hear himself talk, but he never speaks up when it matters most.

FBI report: 51 law enforcement officers killed in line of duty in 2014

By Paul Gattis on October 19, 2015 at 3:40 PM

More than four dozen law enforcement officials were killed in the line of duty in felonious acts in 2014, the FBI reported on Monday.

Most wore body armor when they were killed and most died after being shot, according to the FBI.

The 51 officers killed in the line of duty are a slight decrease with deadly assaults from five years ago and 10 years ago, the FBI said. In 2010, 56 officers were killed in felonious attacks in the line of duty and 55 in 2005. However, it marked a dramatic increase from 2013 when 27 officers were killed in the line of duty.

Of the 51 officers killed in 2014, 46 were killed by guns and 39 of those law enforcement officers were wearing body armor at the time of the shooting, according to the FBI report.

While none of the officers killed in felonious assaults in the line of duty took place in Alabama, the most deaths occurred in the South (17), according to the FBI. The South, according to the FBI classification, includes 16 states plus the District of Columbia – sprawling from Delaware to Texas. Texas (5) and Florida (4) had the most deaths in the South.

An off-duty Birmingham police officer, Keary Hollis, was killed May 10, 2014 in Birmingham.

Other highlights from the FBI report:

•All 51 victims were male and 47 were white while two were black and two were Asian/Pacific Islander.
•Seven of the deaths were ambushes but the leading circumstance was responding to disturbance calls (11).
•The officers killed were experienced, averaging 13 years of law enforcement service. The average age was 39.
•A breakdown of weapons used in the 51 killings: 46 were firearms (33 handguns, 10 rifles, 3 shotguns).
Another 45 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty accidentally, down four from 49 in 2013. Of those 45, 28 were killed in traffic accidents.

The FBI said 48,315 law enforcement officers were assaulted in 2014 and 28.3 percent were injured.

We are mourning with the New York City Police Department NYPD after the loss of a Brother. Officer Randolph Holder, 33, was shot and killed while pursuing a robbery suspect who had fled several blocks on bicycle. Officer Holder and his partner were fired upon by the suspect when he received what would prove to be a fatal head injury. He was immediately transported to a hospital where he regretfully succumbed.

Officer Holder served with the NYPD's Police Service Area 5 for the past 5 years. He is survived by his family.

We create these humble memorials as a small token of our appreciation for the dedication to service our Brothers and Sisters have while protecting the citizens of the communities they serve. We also light blue lights to honor the memory of these fallen Officers as a symbol of hope and gratitude. We will shine our blue lights across America tonight for Officer Holder. May he follow the blue glow home. Rest easy Sir.

    www.fb.com/BlueLineAcrossAmerica

Officer Holder is the 78th Officer honored by Blue Line Across America to fall in the line of duty during 2015. He is the 7th Officer lost this year from the State of New York. He is the 4th #NYPD Officer lost in the past 11 months.

(NOTE: Not all LODD's memorialized by Blue Line Across America are recognized by ODMP.org or NLEOMF. If you are ON DUTY, or acting in an official capacity, at the time of loss we will consider it a LODD.)

NYPD cop gunned down in Harlem shootout

By Larry Celona, Jamie Schram, Frank Rosario and Kenneth Garger
    October 20, 2015 | 9:40pm

A cop was fatally shot in the head while chasing a gunman amid a shootout in East Harlem on Tuesday night.

Randolph Holder, 33, a five-year veteran of the force who was assigned to the Housing unit, responded to a 911 call of gunfire between two rival gangs at 420 E. 102nd St. at about 9 p.m., according to law enforcement sources.

When officers arrived on the scene, the warring groups split up and scattered, with one suspect robbing a bicycle at gunpoint. That gunman led cops on a chase up First Avenue and then over a footbridge at 120th Street and the FDR Drive. The suspect made it over to the East River side of the bridge and shot at the cops, striking Holder in the forehead. Holder’s partner returned fire, wounding the gunman in the leg and buttocks. The suspect was apprehended at East 124th Street.

Police sources identified the shooting suspect as Tyrone Howard, 30. He has not been charged yet.

“I heard so many gunshots,” said a witness, Angelique Martinez, 47. “It sounded like there was a shootout outside my building. It’s really scary.”

Indeed numerous shots can be heard in the background of a 911 call Tuesday night reporting the shootout, according to audio posted by former NYPD cop John Cardillo, now a radio host in West Palm Beach, Fla. The wounded officer died at Harlem Hospital at about 10:30 p.m.

“Tonight, he did what every other officer in the New York City Police Department does,” Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said at the hospital. “When the call comes, he ran toward danger. That’s the last time he will respond to that call.”

Holder was a resident of the Rockaways who immigrated from Guyana with his father. The dad, also named Randolph, was taken to the hospital by helicopter from Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn. “His father, in his time of grief, sought to console the officers of PSA 5,” Bratton said, referring to the Public Service Area where Holder was assigned. “He’s strong enough and brave enough to go in and address them and try to comfort them.”

Mayor Bill de Blasio said at the hospital, “We are all mourning tonight. The whole city is mourning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family, who are experiencing unimaginable pain. He gave the last full measure of his devotion on behalf of the city he loved.”

Police found an ammunition magazine at the scene of the shooting, and a revolver near the scene of the gang shootout.
