The “nonpartisan” NAACP released a statement on the 2014 midterm elections Wednesday, http://www.naacp.org/press/entry/naa...term-elections and as Townhall noted, it focused almost exclusively on pushing for passage of a Voting Rights Act Amendment. http://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattves...-wins-n1915182

“This election was not about who won but the rather the citizens who lost the right to participate,” wrote NAACP president and CEO Cornell William Brooks.
This election was not about who won? That might explain why the NAACP’s statement included no mention whatsoever of Tim Scott or Mia Love’s historic wins. Scott’s victory made him the first black U.S. Senator from the South since Reconstruction, and Love made history as the first black Republican woman elected to Congress. That certainly sounds like advancement worth recognizing.

Black Senator Asked How He Can Help The Poor -
and Be Conservative (His Answer is Fantastic)

By Monica Sanchez | 24 hours ago

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Thomas Roberts asks Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) how he can truly care about lower income families and still be conservative. He delivers a fantastic response.

Sen. Scott explains how liberal policies implemented by Congress under Democratic control for the past 40 consecutive years have done far more harm than good:

“If we looked at the result of [Democratic] control, what has happened in black America? We saw greater poverty."

    He continues,

"If we take the statistics from the 1970s to the 21st century, what we see very clearly is that poverty has gone from 11% to 15%. These are classic examples that the policies of the left have not worked. I will tell you, that if I have an ‘F’ on the NAACP scorecard, it’s because I believe that progress has to be made and that government is not the answer…”
Himself a child of poverty, Sen. Scott sheds light on how a good education accompanied by a hard work ethic go a long way. He explains that social programs alone are not the answer to eradicating the issue, but that economic opportunity and an entrepreneurial spirit are.

“We have the largest government we’ve ever had in the history of the country. We have more non-profit organizations working on the same issue. And yet we have a higher percentage of people living in poverty.

“The key, it seems like, is individual freedom and economic opportunity. Fusing those together in an agenda that focuses on education seems to lead forward.”
Aren't those elements what made America great in the first place?

Clay Aiken Donors Upset Over Campaign Turned Into Reality Show
    By P.J. Gladnick | November 7, 2014

Clay Aiken has learned that you don't have to actually be a winner to come out ahead. He learned that lesson when he came in second on "American Idol" and was launched into fame while the actual winner of that contest is pretty much forgotten. He seems to have applied that lesson to his recent congressional campaign as well.

Aiken lost in a landslide but not to worry, he is about to star in a TV reality show about that campaign. Unfortunately for Clay, some of the good footage of him hanging out with celebrity donors at a September 30 fundraiser in Los Angeles might not be able to be used. The donors are now feeling "duped" by Aiken according to Variety. http://variety.com/2014/biz/news/som...es-1201350270/

However, before we go to the downside of his reality series, let us celebrate Aiken's congressional campaign loss which was really a TV reality show win for him according to this Politico story: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/1...ow-112586.html

He may not be heading to Congress, but Clay Aiken is heading back to the small screen.

After the former “American Idol” contestant lost his bid for North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District seat on Tuesday night, the Esquire Network announced it will air an as-of-yet untitled docuseries based on Aiken’s campaign.

The four-hour series, which will air in early 2015, has been filming Aiken since he announced in February that he would seek to unseat Republican incumbent Rep. Renee Ellmers. Ellmers sailed to reelection, leading Aiken 59 to 41 percent, The Associated Press reported.
Gee! Does anybody out there have the sneaky suspicion that Aiken never intended to win the congressional race but intended all along to become a TV reality show star? If you had actually donated to Aiken's campaign you probably now think you were duped. In fact that is what the celebrity donors to Aiken's campaign call themselves, according to Variety: http://variety.com/2014/biz/news/som...es-1201350270/

Some Los Angeles donors who attended a Sept. 30 fundraiser for Clay Aiken in Los Angeles feel “duped” after the announcement, just hours after he lost his race for a North Carolina congressional seat, that Esquire Network had been producing a “docu-series” about his campaign. According to Karen Ocamb of FrontiersLA, donors are asking that footage of the event not be included in the documentary.

Donors have complained that a film crew following Aiken around that night asked attendees to sign release forms, but told them that it was for a BBC documentary that would not air in the U.S. The organizer of the Aiken fundraiser, actor-producer Steven Tyler, sent a letter to Aiken in which he wrote, “I am sorry for the loss on your bid for Congress, but apparently you had yourself covered with a reality TV show deal the entire time, just in case you didn’t win. I cannot speak for the NC Voters or contributors, but I can speak for myself and many of your Los Angeles supporters when I say we feel duped, taken advantage of and lied to.” ...

In his letter, posted in Ocamb’s story, Tyler wrote that “had the LA donors known you would personally benefit from their donations and appearance at the event — they would not have donated to your campaign.”
Here is one video clip of a Clay Aiken fundraiser that should definitely be included in his reality show but he might not like it because it is all too real (strong language warning):

Exit question: Will Martha Coakley get her own reality show on "The Biggest Loser?"

Ron Paul: 2-party US political system in reality a monopoly

Former Congressman Ron Paul told RT in the midst of Tuesday’s midterm elections that the “monopoly" system run by the leaders of the two main parties is all too evident as Americans go to the polls this Election Day.

“This whole idea that a good candidate that’s rating well in the polls can’t get in the debate, that’s where the corruption really is,” Paul, the 79-year-old former House of Representatives lawmaker for Texas, told RT during Tuesday’s special midterm elections coverage. “It’s a monopoly…and they don’t even allow a second option,” he said.

“If a third party person gets anywhere along, they are going to do everything they can to stop that from happening,” the retired congressman continued.

Paul, a longtime Republican, has been critical of the two-party dichotomy that dominates American politics for decades, and once ran as the Libertarian Party’s nominee for president of the United States. While third-party candidates continue to vie against the left and right establishment, however, Paul warned RT that even the two-party system as Americans know it is in danger.

“What do they do with our young people? They send them all around the world, getting involved in wars and telling them they have to have democratic elections,” he told RT. “But here at home, we don’t have true Democracy. We have a monopoly of ideas that is controlled by the leaders of two parties. And they call it two parties, but it’s really one philosophy.”

All hope isn’t lost, however; according to Paul, American politics can still be changed if individuals intent on third-party ideas introduce their ethos to the current establishment. Americans can “fight to get rid of the monopoly of Republicans and Democrats,” Paul said, or “try to influence people with ideas and infiltrate both political parties.”

With respect to the midterm elections, though, Paul told RT that he’s uncertain what policies will prevail this year — excluding, of course, an obvious win for the status quo.

“I think the status quo is pretty strong right now, and I imagine that the status quo is going to win the election tonight,” he said Tuesday afternoon.

Looks Like Mary Landrieu’s Campaign is Vying for ‘Most Ridiculous and Idiotic Statement’ Award
    November 9, 2014 By Jennifer Burke

Louisiana incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu is in the political fight of her life. She will face her Republican rival Bill Cassidy in a run-off election in December. As a sure signal that she is expected to be defeated, the DSCC has pulled all ads in support of Landrieu ahead of the December run-off.

In what appears to be a move of desperation, Landrieu is attacking Cassidy with new ads and on Twitter in an attempt to paint him as a absentee candidate. Her ad campaign, Where Was Bill, attempts to paint Cassidy as having turned his back on Louisiana. http://wherewasbill.com/
This from a woman who doesn’t even know that the state that she has represented since 1996 is divided into parishes, not counties.

This from a woman who was absolutely scorched in a blistering ad that demonstrated how she does not represent the best interests of Louisianans. http://www.tpnn.com/2014/10/01/democ...ck-republican/

Here is Landrieu’s attack on Cassidy regarding Katrina, a tragic natural disaster often used by Democrats to erroneously attack Republicans.

Democrat Mary Landrieu Gets Owned in this New Ad Featuring Black Republican
October 1, 2014 By Jennifer Burke

Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory, a black Republican, has made a name for himself and become a well-known figure to the grassroots after switching his political party from Democrat in 2013. His powerful videos have resonated with many as he has called the Democrat Party out for the way they take advantage of blacks while simultaneously instituting policies that harm the black community, rather than help it.

He has also called the black community out for their nearly monolithic voting for Democrats with roughly 95% of all blacks voting for the Democrat Party.

But, it is his most recent commercial lambasting Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu, who is engaged in a contentious battle for re-election, that has the country abuzz once again and all eyes on Louisiana.

Guillory has said in the past, “Liberalism has nearly destroyed Black America. And now it’s time for Black America to return the favor.” With this latest ad, produced by the Free at Last PAC, which he serves as honorary chairman, he paints a vivid picture, using Opelousas, Louisiana as the backdrop, of the real life experience of blacks now 18 years after Mary Landrieu took office promising to be a champion for the black community.

He powerfully paints the picture of lives in contrast; that of the black constituents in Opelousas to that of Landrieu, who does not live in Louisiana but rather claims her parents home as her own to file for office, as she officially claims as her residence and resides in her $2 million D.C. mansion http://www.washingtonpost.com/politi...s=rss_politics

Opelousas, Louisiana. Academy Street, the hill section. I grew up just a few blocks from here. These streets look just the same as they did when I was a kid. In some ways, they look even worse.

Mary Landrieu first ran for Senate in 1996 promising to be a champion for the black community. Eighteen years later, little has changed. Our communities are poorer than they were in 1996. Our schools continue to fail children. Our jails are filled with young black men who should be at home being fathers.

Meanwhile Mary Landrieu lives in a $2 million mansion on Capitol Hill.

You see, as Thomas Sowell said, politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They’re trying to solve their own problems, of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two.

You’re not Mary’s cause, and you’re certainly not her charity. You are just a vote. Nothing less and nothing more. For her, you’re just a means to an end so that she remains in power.

While you scrounge together food stamps to buy kool aid, she sips champagne at cocktail parties. While you dig through the couch looking for gas money, she flies around in private jets funded by taxpayer dollars.

But Mary Landrieu knows that she doesn’t have to do anything for our community, because no matter what she does, 95 percent of us will line up to vote for her. Every. Single. Time.

Since 1996, black unemployment has doubled and the poverty rate for blacks has skyrocketed. Mary hasn’t helped us at all.

So, on November 4th, let’s send her back home to her father’s house or to her mansion in Washington, D.C., or to wherever the heck she lives because one thing is for sure. She does not live here, on Academy Street, on the hill.

Of the three Capitol Hill bodies (Senate, House of Representatives, Oval Office) Democrats have controlled two out of three or three out of three since 2005. That’s a long time. The failures are starting to mount and the ability to place blame on Republicans, on “the party of no” or cry that it’s because of obstructionism are ringing hollow. The question the American people are asking isn’t, “Who is in control” -- we know who is in control -- but rather, “How have you been governing?” The answer to that question is that the current Democrat party and leadership has been governing against the will of the people not in conjunction with it. Tuesday night Americans said, “Enough.”
This is a severe conundrum for hard leftist Democrats like President Obama as what he/they want for the country is not what most Americans want, including registered Democrats. For instance; most Americans are in favor of constructing the Keystone XL pipeline, especially “big labor.” The unions that so heavily favor Democrats desperately want the project approved for the tens of thousands of jobs it means for their dues-paying members. Yet approving the pipeline could mean lower prices at the gas pump, something the president, Democrat leaders, and the environmentalist lobby do not want to see. Higher fuel prices (theoretically) discourages driving and influences consumer auto purchase decisions toward smaller more fuel-efficient cars and away from SUV’s, trucks, and the larger vehicles they are convinced are turning the earth into a giant microwave oven. In this area Democrats are governing against the will of their constituents -- Americans would much prefer $1.89 per gallon gasoline.

Liberal Asks Mike Rowe How Anyone Can Be a ‘Republican and Christian’ Mike’s Response is EPIC

By Jason DeWitt on November 18, 2014

Americans love Mike Rowe for his amazing work ethic, respect for those who perform the worst of jobs, and most especially for his everyman, genuine demeanor — which come out when he replies to fan comments, as we have reported with delight in the past.

But every so often a hostile critic will emerge and blast Mike for whatever reason, and we get treated to a vintage Mike Rowe moment.

Yesterday, while Mike was in an airplane at “37,000 feet” a liberal peppered his Facebook page with annoying political rants against conservatives.

Jim Green: It is ALARMING when we do the demographic post mortem on this election, because it is probable that it was decided by our RACISTS–voting against President Obama, who wasn’t on the ballot—that gave the Republicans their election wins—OUR GREED AND IGNORANCE
Jim Green: Why is the media avoiding that we have a U.S. Senate bought and paid for by the Koch Bros/1%–and what they want for their dollar is to cut THEIR taxes [for pure GREED], and cut regulations to increase the bottom line [for pure GREED]….in short “OUR GREED AND IGNORANCE” ruled the day
Jim Green: Why on Earth would ANYONE vote Republican? A reptile has more decency than the Republicans in Congress! Only an odious toad would pass Ryan’s budget or gut Food Stamps—and these depraved snakes made them THEIR HIGHEST PRIORITY! If only one child in America goes hungry because of the Republican’s War on Children it explains why—IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A CHRISTIAN, AND VOTE REPUBLICAN
Jim Green: A CHALLENGE….will you PLEASE explain to the American people why you vote/are a Republican—because for the life of me I cannot understand WHY WOULD ANYONE VOTE REPUBLICAN! (NO trashing the Prez as a reason—it may make our RACISTS happy—but it is an idiotic explanation/justification.) See: “IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A CHRISTIAN, AND VOTE REPUBLICAN,”
Rowe — who unlike most celebrities actually reads all his fans’ posts — responded with a subtle but brilliant response: https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMike...e=1&permPage=1

    Hi there, Jim

Greetings, from somewhere over Colorado. It appears you’re still trying to sell some books on my Facebook page. Personally, I haven’t read them, and based on your marketing strategy, I suspect I’m probably not alone. Since part of your approach seems to involve me, I thought perhaps I might offer you some unsolicited marketing advice. I hope it’s not too presumptuous, but these tips have served me well over the years, and I can’t help but think you and your marketing team might benefit from their immediate implementation.

    1. Consider starting off each blurb with a friendly salutation. In my experience, a little cordiality goes a long way, especially when you’re trying to persuade someone to give you money.

    2. Think about addressing your audience as something other than “racists,” “reptiles,” and “toads.” I get that you want to be provocative, but if your goal is to sell your book, a number of well-known studies have proven it’s best not to insult your potential customers.

    3. Reconsider your commitment to caps and exclamation points. These are excellent choices when warning people about a fire, a volcanic eruption, an ebola outbreak, or a looming tsunami. But I’m afraid their use in the context of a book sale implies a level of urgency that may exist only in your mind. If you really want to persuade thoughtful people that Christians can’t vote for Republicans and remain Christian, you’ll need to appear credible – not hysterical. Lower case should work just fine.

    4. Consider limiting each blurb to a single entry. When you post the identical screed four times in a row, it looks very much like a broken record sounds. This will lead people to conclude that you’re either a) inept at posting, or b) deliberately obnoxious. Neither conclusion is likely to lead to a sale. Remember, most people see posts like yours as small piles of vomit that they can quickly step around. But when the same vomitus post appears multiple times, you force my friends here to slosh through a virtual lake of spew. Ironically, this will not only make more people like you even less, it will decrease the odds that someone who might actually share your world view will feel inclined to purchase your book. (I’ve deleted all of your redundant posts from this morning, but left the original. You’re welcome.)

    5. Regarding your overall claim, I’m not an authority on Republicans or Christians, but last I checked, America is still populated by plenty of both. Unless you wish to alienate a majority of the country, you might consider something a tad more conciliatory. Something like – “There is no “R” in Jesus – But There’s G-O-P in Gospel!”

Finally, with respect to your “challenge,” I’m not a registered Republican, but from time to time, I have voted like one. If you really want to know why, ask me in a fashion that incorporates the aforementioned steps, and I’ll try to explain it to you.

In the meantime, GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Mike

PS. As you can see, the captain has given me some plastic wings. So clearly, I know what I’m talking about.
Jim Green did not respond, apparently hiding somewhere, or perhaps changing his diaper.

Once again Mike manages to completely shred this liberal’s claptrap without being a jerk. It is truly an uncommon gift Mike possesses. We salute him, and can’t wait for his next missive!

Hillary Clinton is hosting a high dollar fundraiser for Mary Landrieu's Senate run off election ... IN NEW YORK CITY.

    I'M A CAJUN FROM SOUTH LOUISIANA .....

MARY LANDRIEU has insulted me and all my Cajun friends and family again. Hopefully, this will be the last time she gets to do this as a member of the US Senate! To call us, of all people, "racists" . . . this goes way beyond the normal political verbal jousting. This is a personal attack on everybody in Louisiana that I know.

Because we were so discriminated against, and because we know what is like to be judged by anything other than the "content of our character," Cajuns have evolved into a culture that, more than most, reaches out to all and teaches nothing less to our children. We work with all peoples, we share with all, and we worship with all.

Our Cajun & Creole music, food, and many festivals that celebrate our style of living is a constant and colorful testament to the lack of racism and the unparalleled cooperation among our Louisiana citizens of all colors, all creeds, and all faiths. We despise those who continue to separate humans in society the way we were once separated because we didn't look like, or talk like, or live exactly like . . . people like Mary Landrieu.

You know the type; she is a Washington insider that looks down at the rest of us while she lives a champaige and caviar jet setter lifestyle.

Maybe Mary Landrieu would know just who we really are if she attended our common folk festivals and actually lived in Louisiana.
