    Midterms 2014

GOP Strikes Back and Puts Obama’s
‘Make No Mistake, These Policies Are On The Ballot’ Quote to Use

By Michael Hausam 5 hours ago

Two days ago, President Barack Obama exploded the heads of Democrat campaign strategists when, in an effort to to emphasize an economy that he defines as improving, he pointed out that despite the fact that he is not on the ballot next month, his policies are. http://www.ijreview.com/2014/10/1839...ocrat-defeats/ http://www.ijreview.com/2014/10/1841...ly-ugly-truth/

The problem with his statement is that, as much as the administration likes to assert that there are a slew of improved economic numbers, most of the country doesn’t feel it. In a 60 Minutes interview, the President acknowledged that he’s going to have to make people understand that things are good, even though they may not know it. http://hotair.com/archives/2014/09/2...gh-to-feel-it/

Republican campaign staffs have taken this statement and run with it. Here are three, just-released ads.

Scott Brown, running in New Hampshire against Democrat incumbent Jeanne Shaheen, released an ad with Obama’s statement featured prominently:

Currently a polling average has Shaheen up by 4 points. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epo...heen-3894.html

Kansas Republican Senator Pat Roberts, running against an independent and a Democrat, took a similar approach with his ad:

Roberts slightly trails independent Greg Orman, according to the most recent polling. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epo...rman-5206.html

The first ad to drop, released directly to Politico by veteran Republican leader Mitch McConnell, prominently features Obama’s “these policies are on the ballot” statement, as well: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/1...588.html?hp=l4

Polls currently show McConnell significantly increasing his lead over challenger Allison Grimes. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epo...imes-3485.html

You had to know that the GOP would take this statement and put it to use. As the current prediction is for the Republicans to take over the Senate next month, it will be incredibly interesting to see if this “oops” from the President helps the GOP’s fortunes – and how the Democrats respond. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epo...olls/elections

No, really. Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) poured beer into the mouth of a dude doing a keg stand today

    More from The Hill:

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) was spotted helping a man do a keg stand at a Louisiana State University tailgating event on Saturday.

A photo from the event appears to show Landrieu—one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents this year— holding the keg’s spigot while a young man
dressed in the Tigers’ purple and gold does a handstand on the keg and other participants hold his legs. A crowd of onlookers cheers him on.

A source close to the campaign said the man was in his late 20s and was enjoying a tailgate with his friends and family. The source also said his father was at the tailgating party with him.
    Good grief!

What Embattled Dem Senator Landrieu Is Doing In This Viral Pic Could Cost Harry Reid Big Time

Fighting for her political life in a very tight re-election campaign...

    Norvell Rose — September 22, 2014

It could be one of those moments when a political career careens into a great big “Dead End” sign…when the needle of impending electoral doom swings into the red zone of “massive meltdown.”

In a picture that’s gone viral, embattled Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu is seen helping to force beer down the throat of a football fan at a tailgate gathering. Apparently, Landrieu, who is fighting for her political life in a very tight reelection campaign, must have thought she could win the hearts and votes of a certain hardcore party crowd when she helped a guy do a keg stand before the LSU-Mississippi State football game.

From the Times-Picayune of New Orleans: http://www.nola.com/politics/index.s..._with_a_k.html

For those who don’t know, a keg stand involves hoisting someone in the air — in this case a purple-Polo-wearing LSU fan — and putting the running spigot from a beer keg directly in his mouth.

The idea is for the person to drink as much beer as possible, while being essentially upside down. It’s a common practice on college campuses, especially at house parties and tailgates.

Admittedly, politics in Louisiana is often an animal of a different color. But to have a sitting U.S. senator shown helping some guy guzzle suds in an obvious attempt to get plastered is a campaign tactic of a very different color.

The Times-Picayune article notes that Landrieu did draw the line at doing her own upside-down beer-guzzling:

Landrieu was apparently encouraged — but declined — to do her own keg stand, according to Tim Murphy, a Mother Jones reporter that was tailing her as she walked around LSU’s campus before the football game started.

“‘My first keg stand,” Landrieu says, as we walk away. ‘He wanted me to do it, but I said absolutely not — at least not in front of the national press.’ What if it would’ve won her some votes? ‘That’s alright — I’m not that desperate,’” wrote Murphy of an exchange with Landrieu.
    Brad Dayspring @BDayspring

Bright side: Mary Landrieu will have plenty of time after losing her seat to help students binge drink.

    9:03 AM - 21 Sep 2014

Landrieu, a three-term Democrat, is engaged in a tough reelection campaign against U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy. She has faced harsh criticism recently because of her disputed residency status as well as over campaign trips paid for out of her official Senate account ( $30000 worth .... ).

The outcome of the Landrieu-Cassidy election could help determine whether Republicans gain control of the Senate and remove Obama’s right-hand man, Harry Reid, from the leadership position.

Could Ebola be Obama's planned 'October Surprise' in an effort to stoke fear and swing the election his way?

Is the Ebola Virus the Democrat Party’s ‘October Surprise’ Bob Beckel Warned About?

    October 16, 2014 By Matthew Burke

Longtime Democrat political consultant and commentator Bob Beckel, warned on FOX News’ The Five in September that Obama and his cabal of Democrat Marxist thugs (Well, he didn’t exactly use those descriptive terms) were cooking up what is known in political terms as an “October Surprise.”

“I’ll tell you: I would expect an October surprise,” Beckel warned on September 18th on The Five. “I think I know what it is –I’m not going to say it, but I think I know what it is — and it is going to shake things up, and it has to do with national security,”
An October surprise is an evil political scheme those power-addicted politicians create in order to deceive voters in order to change the outcome of an election in their favor. It’s a news event concocted to distract and change the narrative, not dissimilar to Bill Clinton’s bombing an aspirin factory in Iraq on the eve of his impeachment vote.

Before you call this a right-wing conspiracy, allow me to introduce you to Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post, an extremely Obama-friendly publication, who no one has ever accused of being in opposition to the Democrat Party.

Cillizza wrote in the Post on Wednesday (Emphasis added) that Ebola is the 2014 Election’s October Surprise: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...ober-surprise/

But the idea that a woman — who less than 24 hours later was admitted to the hospital with Ebola — was traveling on a Frontier Airlines jet with 132 people is just the sort of thing that forces a re-calculation, by the public and the politicians who serve them, of the situation. Why? Because everyone has been on a plane. And many people travel weekly, if not daily. The idea that someone who was on the verge of coming down with Ebola could have been breathing the same air as you for a few hours — no matter what your rational mind knows about how difficult Ebola is to transmit — is scary.

That worry is compounded by the fact that most people — me included — are agog at the fact that a woman who had dealt directly with Duncan was allowed to travel on a commercial flight while still under observation for the possibility of developing Ebola, a concern that will lead to more aggressive questioning of the CDC, Texas health officials and, more broadly, state and federal governments.
Just what would Obama and the Democrats hope to gain from an orchestrated outbreak of the lethal Ebola virus in the United States in order feed their political greed? How could it benefit the Democrat Party in the upcoming midterm elections, less than three weeks away?

First of all, you have to think like a wicked progressive liberal, keeping in mind that they will do anything and say anything, lie, cheat or steal in order to stay in power.

Secondly, if they could create a crisis that “only big government could solve” or blame the Republicans for imaginary budget cuts in taxpayer-funded government research spending (Wait a minute, they already did that! ), certainly it could energize what appears to be a deflated and depressed Democrat Party base. If they could scare them into thinking that those “nasty Republican’s evil cuts” were the cause of Ebola and all other wrongs in the world, it just might get their base an ooomph to get off the couch and vote again for another round of failed big government policies.

Thirdly, it’s also possible that an Obama-Democrat Party intentional Ebola scare, even if it kills a few people, could distract from what was supposed to glide Republicans to the finish line this cycle, the unbelievably gargantuan failure of Obamacare, which, since the outbreak is nearly completely out of the news.

Lastly, the Marxists in charge could benefit from changing the news cycle and distracting voters’ minds from Obamagate, the plethora of scandals that make the Nixon or Clinton administrations seem that of George Washington’s. From the IRS targeting scandal, Benghazi, trading a possible traitor for the release of five notorious terrorists (the results of Bergdahl’s investigation are mysteriously being held until after the election), to Fast and Furious, the illegal alien invasion of the Southern border and Obama’s refusal to do anything about it, his push for amnesty, abuses by the EPA, unconstitutional NSA spying, the hacking of the Associated Press (AP) and James Rosen of FOX News, the list goes on.

Oh, and if you’re wondering how this “October Surprise” is a matter of “national security,” as Beckel forcasted, realize that Obama is making it one, putting our military at great risk, fundamentally transforming our military into something resembling a unit of the Red Cross.

All of these scandals are out of the news because of the Ebola outbreak, and that’s better news than having to hear about Obamacare’s failings or Obamagate until election time. That is, unless, their evil intent is only surpassed by their incompetence and they can’t even pull off the scare without infecting half the country with the deadly virus.

Landrieu Assures Louisiana Voters Her $2.5 Million DC Home Isn’t A ‘Mansion’
    BY: Washington Free Beacon Staff
    October 20, 2014 10:58 am

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D., La.) assured voters Saturday that she does not live in your typical “mansion,” but rather, a quaint townhome.

In a video obtained by America Rising, Landrieu slammed her opponent, Republican Bill Cassidy for his “mansion” outside of Louisiana State University, while she lives in a much more modest home.

While speaking at an event in Bogalusa, La., on Saturday, Landrieu downplayed her $2.5 million home in Washington, D.C., as hardly a mansion.
“They say I lived in a mansion?” Landrieu asked, pulling a supporter up on stage to corroborate her argument.
Landrieu then emphasized her home was only 36 feet wide. The supporter added that the home is in a “historical” district, which limits how “big of a mansion you can have.” https://www.americarisingpac.org/lan...n-louisianans/

Landrieu failed to mention that her 36-foot-wide townhome is “7,316 square feet with five bathrooms, four water heaters, and two dishwashers,” America Rising reported Monday.
Landrieu has been criticized for using her parents’ home in New Orleans as her permanent address. She trails Cassidy by five points.

    ‘Stepped right into that propeller':
    Landrieu’s ‪#‎WhereWasBill‬ tweet backfires

As Twitchy reported yesterday http://twitchy.com/2014/11/06/its-ov...-life-support/ Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, facing a runoff election Dec. 6, has resumed campaigning on Twitter, although her #WhereWasBill tweet racked up only one favorite and zero retweets in its first four hours online. (Nearly 24 hours later, it’s up to three retweets and two favorites.)

Landrieu’s resurrected Twitter campaign has finally caught someone’s attention, although that person is her opponent, Rep. Bill Cassidy, who was happy to answer where he was during Hurricane Katrina. Check out the favorites and retweets on this one. http://twitchy.com/…/stepped-right-i...er-sen…/
