Obama's Egypt decision: Side with ousted Muslim Brotherhood-dominated government

    http://www.examiner.com/article/obam...ted-government

After 6+ hours from the moment the Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces announced to his nation that the Muslim Brotherhood-dominated government of President Mohamed Morsi had been ousted, the Administration of Barack Obama responded with the heavy usage of diplomatic-speak to essentially state he's quite unhappy with the military coup as well as issuing a carefully crafted threat to cancel future U.S. foreign aid to the North African nation, as released as an official Presidential Statement by the White House Office of the Press Secretary on July 3, 2013 (the entire press release, here).

Speaking initially in the plural then shifting to the singular, the White House statement (in part) signaled Obama's displeasure of Mosri's removal as well as the suspension of the heavily Sharia Law-influence Constitution of Egypt:

Nevertheless, we are deeply concerned by the decision of the Egyptian Armed Forces to remove President Morsy and suspend the Egyptian constitution.

I now call on the Egyptian military to move quickly and responsibly to return full authority back to a democratically elected civilian government as soon as possible through an inclusive and transparent process...

The Obama Administration gave a hearty two-thumbs-up to the Morsi government last summer via Presidential Spokesman Jay Carney:

We believe in the importance of the new Egyptian government upholding universal values, and respecting the rights of all Egyptian citizens — including women and religious minorities such as Coptic Christians.

Millions of Egyptians voted in the election, and President-elect Morsi and the new Egyptian government have both the legitimacy and responsibility of representing a diverse and courageous citizenry.

Back To The Most Recent Statement...

Not done yesterday in his support of the ousted Morsi, Obama also made a plea to the military:

... to avoid any arbitrary arrests of President Morsy and his supporters.

After his election as president last year, Mohamed Morsi flooded his government with members of the radical Muslim Brotherhood (MB), many of them Jihadists who have often called for the destruction of the State of Israel.

The Morsi government has also been accused of paying lip service to the plight of Egypt's roughly 8,500,000 Catholic and Orthodox Coptics.

While his government has openly pledged to protect the minority Copts, there have been open and savage attacks on them by roving gangs of MB members and other Morsi supporters.

The most egregious example was the MBs violence against Christians was the assault on the Orthodox Coptic St. Mark's Cathedral in Cairo, which was referred to by many as "a battleground."

As the MB assaulted the cathedral's compound, resulting in two dead and nearly 100 wounded Christians, local police stood by and did nothing but eventually joined in with the Jihadists in their attack on St. Mark's.

Since the advent of the Morsi presidency, an estimated 200,000 Copts have literally fled for their lives from their native homeland.

Scores of Copts have been killed and hundreds wounded by Morsi's forces and supporters.

And The Question Of $1,200,000,000 A Year We Send Egypt...

Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces, General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi stated yesterday that the Egyptian equivalent of the American Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would be sworn in as interim president on July 4, 2013.

Nonetheless, in what more than a few D.C.- watchers consider a tissue paper thin threat to the revolutionaries now in power, the Obama official statement also gave them a cryptic warning:

Given today’s developments, I have also directed the relevant departments and agencies to review the implications under U.S. law for our assistance to the Government of Egypt.

Interim Egyptian president sworn in amid crackdown

Egypt's interim president, a senior constitutional court judge, was sworn in Thursday as the military moved swiftly against the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egyptian soldiers deploy near Cairo University, where Muslim Brotherhood supporters have gathered to support ousted President Mohammed Morsi, Thursday, July 4.

CAIRO — A senior judge was sworn in as Egypt's interim president Thursday to replace ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi as the military launched a major crackdown against the Muslim Brotherhood. Reeling from what it called a military coup against democracy, the group said it would not work with the new political system.

The sweep against the Brotherhood leadership included the group's top leader, a figure venerated among its followers, General Guide Mohammed Badie. He was arrested late Wednesday at a villa where he had been staying at a Mediterranean coastal city and flown by helicopter to Cairo, security officials said.

The move against the Brotherhood raises deep questions over how Islamists will fit into Egypt's new political system after the military on Wednesday swept out Morsi, the country's first freely elected president. The military is installing a new civilian leadership to pave the way to new elections, saying it will stay out of politics.

Cheers, fireworks in Tahrir Square after Mursi announcement 23 hr ago Duration: 1:05 Views: 1k The army says it did so in the name of millions of Egyptians who had taken to the streets demanding he be removed. In the eyes of protesters, Morsi and the Brotherhood from which he hails had warped the democratic process. Many of them say the group has proven its anti-democratic nature and argue that its leaders committed prosecutable crimes.

But the Brotherhood remains a powerful force, with a highly organized membership nationwide.

The top opposition political grouping, the National Salvation Front, issued a statement Thursday saying, "We totally reject excluding any party, particularly political Islamic groups."

The Brotherhood announced it wanted nothing to do with the new political system.

"We declare our complete rejection of the military coup staged against the elected president and the will of the nation," the Brotherhood said in a statement that the group's senior cleric Abdel-Rahman el-Barr read to Morsi's supporters staging a days-long sit-in in Cairo.

"We refuse to participate in any activities with the usurping authorities," it said.

There are fears of a violent backlash from Islamists against the army move, particularly from hard-liners, some of whom belong to former armed militant groups. Clashes between Islamists and police erupted in multiple places around the country after the army's announcement of Morsi's removal Wednesday night, leaving at least nine dead.

Morsi has been detained in an unknown location since the generals pushed him out Wednesday. At least a dozen of his senior aides and advisers are being held in what is described as house arrest.

The arrest of Badie was a dramatic step, since even the regimes of Hosni Mubarak and his predecessors had been reluctant to move against the group's top leader. The Brotherhood was banned for most of its 83-year existence, but it has been decades since its general guide was put in a prison.

According to security officials, also arrested are Badie's predecessor as general guide, Mehdi Akef; the head of the Brotherhood's political party, Saad Katatni; one of Badie's deputies Rashad Bayoumi; and ultraconservative Salafi figure Hazem Abu Ismail, who has a considerable street following.

Egypt's interim President Adly Mansour speaks after being sworn in at the constitutional court in Cairo on Thursday, July 4, 2013.
Authorities have also issued a wanted list for more than 200 Brotherhood members and leaders of other Islamist groups. Among them is Khairat el-Shater, another deputy of the general guide who is widely considered the most powerful figure in the Brotherhood.

The warrant against Badie and el-Shater cited suspicion they were responsible in the killing of six protesters during clashes this week at the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood. The deaths came when gunmen inside the building opened fire on protesters attacking the building with stones and firebombs.

Badie and el-Shater were widely believed by the opposition to be the real power in Egypt during Morsi's tenure. Badie had been staying at a villa owned by a businessman with Brotherhood links in the tourist resort city of Marsa Matruh when he was taken by security forces,

The Brotherhood's television station, Misr 25, has been taken off the air along with several TV networks run by Islamists. Morsi's critics have long accused the stations of sowing divisions among Egyptians and inciting against secularists, liberals, Christians and Shiite Muslims with their hard-line rhetoric.

    INTERIM PRESIDENT ADDRESSES NATION

In the first step toward setting up a post-Morsi leadership, the chief judge of the Supreme Constitutional Court Adly Mansour took the oath as interim president before his fellow judges at the court.

After the ceremony aired live on state TV, Mansour delivered an address praising the massive street demonstrations that led to Morsi's ouster. He hailed the youth behind the protests that began on June 30 and brought out millions around the country.

He said that June 30 "corrected the path of the glorious revolution that took place on Jan. 25," referring to the revolt against Mubarak that began Jan. 25, 2011, and led to his ouster 18 days later.

Dressed in a dark blue suit and a sky blue tie, Mansour said the rallies "brought together everyone without discrimination or division" and were an "expression of the nation's conscience and an embodiment of its hopes and ambitions."

But there was no sign of outreach to the Brotherhood in his address. He suggested Morsi's election had been tainted, saying, "I look forward to parliamentary and presidential elections held with the genuine and authentic will of the people."

The revolution, he said, must continue, so "we stop producing tyrants."

While Egypt was embroiled in a military coup, our Secretary of State was sitting on his yacht in Nantucket - and the State Department lied about it, smearing a CBS reporter in the process, in order to keep Kerry's incompetence from the American people.
This should come as little surprise, since Janet Napolitano has done as incompetent a job securing our borders when sitting in her office.

State Dept: Oops, We Lied, Kerry Was Yachting During Egypt Coup
by Ben Shapiro 5 Jul 2013, 11:09 AM PDT

On Friday, the State Department admitted that Secretary of State John Kerry was on his yacht off of the coast of Nantucket as the Egyptian military took over the country from elected Muslim Brotherhood President Mohammed Morsi. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2...pt-Kerry-yacht Originally, the State Department denied the report from CBS reporter Mosheh Oinounou that Kerry was aboard the “Isabel” Wednesday afternoon. The State Department said that Kerry was working “all day” on Egypt, and State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki – the same Obama campaign worker who once claimed that the campaign knew nothing about Joe Soptic – said that the CBS report was “completely inaccurate.” http://www.politico.com/politico44/2...at-167653.html That despite multiple tweets, reports, and even video of the Kerry motorcade getting stuck in traffic.

On Friday, Psaki said that Kerry was “briefly on his boat on Wednesday.”

In other words, the American people were directly lied to about the whereabouts of the Secretary of State as a coup took place in one of the most strategically important countries in the world – a country where the President of the United States chose to launch in foreign policy in 2009, where the US embassy was overrun in 2012, and where the Obama administration planted its flag with the Arab Spring in 2010. Only an administration completely secure in its control of media spin could pull such a stunt.

Psaki added, “Secretary Kerry has been working tirelessly around the clock since he returned from his 10-day trip and there has not been a moment where he has not been focused on doing everything possible to communicate with his team in Washington and in Egypt, within the administration and with his counterparts around the world.”

Location of key officials during national security situations has been a repeated problem for the Obama administration, which still refuses to explain where President Obama was on September 11, 2012 as the US consulate in Benghazi was under fire and Ambassador Chris Stevens was murdered.

At this point, State Department non-essential staff have been given a mandatory evacuation order from Egypt. But, as a former Secretary of State once put it, “What difference, at this point, does it make?”

This administration is an embarrassment to this country and they all should resign. No wonder the world has no respect for the obama administration. They do not know what the truth is nor do they appear to want to tell the truth! all new media- see what O and is cronies will try and do to you - if you have not already lost the people's respect, only time will take care of that unless you start reporting the facts and not be a puppet for any government administration!

McCain Outraged Islamist President Morsi Overthrown,
Urges Suspension Of US Aid To Egypt

    Michael Miller
    On July 7, 2013

Arizona Senator John McCain – McRINO to some people – is outraged over the ouster of Egyptian (ex)-President Mohamed Morsi and is calling for a suspension of all US to Egypt as a result.

Before we go any further, I agree with McRINO (as in “Republican in name only”) that aid to Egypt should have been suspended – but it should have been suspended when the radical Islamist was installed as president, not when he was removed.

McCain whined told Muslim-owned Al Jazeera (of course, who else?) on Friday that he was not a happy camper over the military’s removal of Morsi:

“We have to suspend aid to the Egyptian military because the military has overturned the vote of the people. We cannot repeat the same mistakes that we made in other times of our history by supporting removal of freely elected governments.”
The Egyptian military has rejected the charge that it staged a coup against Morsi, saying that it is aiding an orderly civilian transition based on the will of the people. As a result, the leader of Egypt’s highest court was appointed interim president – vs. a military commander being installed.

The pouting McRino got in one more shot:

“And then we should evaluate whether to continue with aid or not.”
So what you’re saying John, is even if early elections are held and the Egyptian people duly elect a replacement for Morsi, the US should hold the threat of the cessation of US aid over their heads?

This, from a guy who has called for arming the Syrian “rebels” (Islamists) for months. Never mind that they have beheaded Christians, summarily executed captured Syrian forces and aligned themselves with the most radical Islamic groups in the Middle East. It’s time for John McCain to retire to his beloved Sedona and leave conservatism to real conservatives.

Below are the folks who McCain is joining in clamoring for the return of the Muslim Brotherhood:

since morsi is the muslim brotherhood and the muslim brotherhood wants death to america and are considered terrorists why was money given to them. i have read that the money allegedly did not go directly to them but to american companies that had contracts to supply arms to them....and if the muslim brotherhood did not have our money, then there would be a problem with the contracts....which I do not comprehend why we would indirectly or directly arm someone who hates us. mind boggling! I would like to ask mccain how he feels about the Christians who have been murdered by morsi's democratic government based on their religion. hmmm mccain is also one of the gang of 8 who wants to give amnesty and american benefits to those who are illegal ....makes a person wonder about the thinking process of some people.

Muslims angrily respond to Obama’s Ramadan greeting: ‘Hypocrite,’ ‘Hitler’ http://twitchy.com/2013/07/09/muslim...ocrite-hitler/

As Muslims around the world celebrate the beginning of Ramadan, some are taking to social media to criticize Obama’s Ramadan greeting. http://rare.us/story/obamas-ramadan-message-to-muslims/

    Barack Obama ✔ @BarackObama

"I wish Muslims across America & around the world a month blessed with the joys of family, peace & understanding." —President Obama #Ramadan

    8:39 PM - 8 Jul 2013
At issue is the forced feeding of Guantanamo Bay detainees during Ramadan fasting, as well as drone strikes in the Middle East that continue to erode the supposed good will that this president was supposed to inspire in the Muslim world.

    Assad S. Khan @Assadk

Obama wishing Muslims a happy Ramadan while he drone bombs them is like Hitler wishing Auschwitz a happy hanukkah #samedifference #ramadan

    9:47 PM - 8 Jul 2013
    Mario @MAugustinovic

im glad obama is wishing a happy ramadan while also continuing to forcefeed "terrorists" during this entire month

    9:50 PM - 8 Jul 2013
    Makiz @1Love1WorldPMnC

My mom just told me that Barack Obama wished all Muslims a happy Ramadan, I told her that maybe he should stop killing us too.

    10:35 PM - 8 Jul 2013
    Hamed™ @Hamed7_

Obama thinks that wishing us a good Ramadan, is gonna make us 4get how hes killing innocent Muslims 4 no reason, even tho hes a Muslim #smh

    10:17 PM - 8 Jul 2013
    Battery Khan @BKhan24

If Obama really wanted us to have a peaceful Ramadan he would pull the troops from terrorizing our Muslim countries
