State Department seeks 27-month delay for release of Clinton Foundation emails

The State Department has sought to delay the court-ordered release of emails between four of Hillary Clinton's top aides and officials at the Clinton Foundation and a closely associated public relations firm.

The motion, filed in federal court by the Justice Department late Wednesday, seeks to put off the release of the emails by 27 months. It was first reported on by The Daily Caller.

In the filing, the State Department says it originally estimated that approximately 6,000 emails and other documents were exchanged between the aides — identified as former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Michael Fuchs, former Ambassador-At-Large Melanne Verveer, Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills, and Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin — and the Clinton Foundation and Teneo Holdings, a communications shop that former President Bill Clinton helped launch.

However, the State Department said that due to errors in the initial document search, the number of "potentially responsive documents" was in fact more than 34,000. The department estimated that it had more than 13,000 pages still left to review.

U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras had previously ordered the State Department to release the requested documents by July 21.

If the State Department request is granted, the emails would not be released until October 2018, nearly halfway through the first term of a potential Hillary Clinton presidency. The documents are being sought by the conservative nonprofit group Citizens United.

"The American people have a right to see these emails before the election," Citizens United President David Bossie told The Daily Caller, adding that the delay was "totally unacceptable."

The motion was filed two days after Attorney General Loretta Lynch met Bill Clinton at the Phoenix airport. Lynch denied the meeting was anything other than a chance encounter, but Republicans and Democrats have criticized her for at least creating the appearance of a conflict of interest in the midst of a federal investigation into Hillary Clinton's time as America's top diplomat.

On Thursday, State Department spokesman John Kirby cited a surge in Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests in explaining the State Department extension request.

"The Department handles FOIA in an entirely nonpartisan manner," Kirby said.

The former secretary of state has come under scrutiny over whether she used her position to aid corporate and foreign government donors to the Clinton Foundation.

In addition, Abedin worked as an employee at Teneo while simultaneously working at the State Department while Mills held a position at the Clinton Foundation while also serving in the State Department. Both matters have been flagged by Congress as possible conflicts of interest.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch met with former President Bill Clinton for a half-hour on her government airplane at the Phoenix airport on Tuesday, an Arizona news station is reporting.

The unannounced meeting, which comes as Lynch’s Justice Department is investigating the handling of classified information on Hillary Clinton’s private email server, came to light only when Phoenix’s ABC15 TV station asked Lynch about it during a press conference.

The Obama appointee told the TV station that she and Clinton did not discuss the investigation or any other government business. Instead, she says they talked about Clinton’s grandchildren and golf.

DOJ says that AG Lynch will be "Ultimate Decider" on Hillary prosecution

Attorney General Loretta Lynch recently met with former President Bill Clinton to discuss Hillary Clinton’s FBI scandal regarding her deleted emails. Well, that’s what we think, but both Lynch and Clinton are being coy, suggesting nothing important was talked about. Golf. Grandchildren.

Lynch put herself in a very unfortunate position by meeting with Bill (since he could be a witness) and later regretted holding the meeting. The thing is, Lynch will be the person to decide whether or not Hillary is prosecuted.

Conflict of interest much?

Barack Obama’s Justice Department walked back Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s statement that she will defer any decision to prosecute Hillary Clinton to career FBI prosecutors.

After Lynch said that she will take a “step back” from the decision and let career prosecutors make the decision – one she said she will accept – the Justice Department said that the attorney general will be the “ultimate decider.”

The Justice Department’s chief spokeswoman confirmed to Yahoo News that at least two political appointees — Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin and Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates — will review the recommendations of career prosecutors and agents before any final determination is made. “They all expect to receive and accept the recommendations,” Melanie Newman, the Justice Department’s chief of public affairs, said when asked about the role of Carlin and Yates, both of whom are appointees of President Obama. “But it is true they will all be in the process.”

Asked if either Carlin or Yates could overrule the recommendations of FBI agents and career prosecutors, Newman replied: “It is unlikely there will be such a circumstance. But, obviously, that possibility exists.” And, she added, “The AG is the ultimate decider.”

In other words, if you were hoping that Clinton would face charges just let that go right now.

Lynch is a Democrat who will do whatever it takes to protect Hillary.

The AG may be the “ultimate decider,” but that’s pejorative. Lynch takes her cue from Obama.

Earlier today Hillary Clinton met with the FBI as part of its criminal investigation into her private email server. As all other high profile members of Hillary’s staff have already been interviewed, this likely signals the investigation is nearing an end.

The New York Times reports:

“Secretary Clinton gave a voluntary interview this morning about her email arrangements while she was secretary,” Nick Merrill, a campaign spokesman, said in a statement. “She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion.”

Are we really supposed to believe that this interview was voluntary? Those at the center of a criminal investigation seldom get the choice of whether or not to cooperate with authorities.

We’re also supposed to believe Hillary voluntarily took three and a half hours out of her day today for that interview. Do you have any idea how much money in speaking fees she can earn in three and a half hours?

Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private server and Republicans’ continued attacks have chipped away at her trust numbers. A Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday found that voters deemed Mr. Trump more honest and trustworthy than Mrs. Clinton, 45 percent to 37 percent.

Mrs. Clinton did not cooperate with a State Department inspector general’s audit of her email practices that concluded she had failed to comply with agency policies on record keeping. But her campaign had said she would fully cooperate with the F.B.I.

“To our mind, it made sense to prioritize the review being conducted by the Justice Department, and so, accordingly, Hillary Clinton has said since last August she’d be happy to sit with them at whatever point they approach her, which has not happened yet,” a spokesman, Brian Fallon, told CNN in May.

It turns out that famous statement Bernie Sanders made during the first Democrat primary debate couldn’t have been any more false. People really do care about her damn emails.

Greta has been fired up for the last twenty four hours over this and feels that the Attorney General should recuse herself from this case. Allen West agreed. As the conversation of incompetence continued, the most important point was about to be made. Allen West brings up the fact that in 1999, Loretta Lynch was nominated by President Bill Clinton to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Greta did not know this, but the Colonel sure did.

In other words, do as I say and not as I do, and if you do the same as Hillary did, you'll be prosecuted.

So let's get all this straight. Lynch, an Obama appointee, had a highly inappropriate meeting with Bill Clinton. Whom by the way appointed her to a federal judgeship in the 90s. She recuses herself saying she will take the recommendation of the FBI director Comey, an Obama appointee. This is why the professional politicians need to be flushed out of DC.

This Hillary case as Lois Lerner IRS, both destroyed tax payer public records, and stunk of corruption, Benghazi, personal servers, private e-mails, targeted conservative, stalled, covered ups, wiping servers clean, and we spent millions of tax dollars and hold no one accountable.
