NYC alarms with notice: ‘Immediately surrender your rifle’

By Cheryl K. Chumley - The Washington Times
    Thursday, November 28, 2013

New York City authorities have been sending out notices to residents who own guns that now violate new ammunition capability laws, demanding they relinquish their weapons — and even though the notifications may just be standard police procedure, the text is a shocker.

At issue: Weapons that hold more than five rounds of ammo, The Blaze reported

One such notice to a city resident, dated Nov. 18 and posted on The Blaze, reads: “Immediately surrender your rifle and/or shotgun to your local police precinct, and notify this office of the invoice number. The firearm may be sold or permanently removed from the City of New York thereafter. Permanently remove your rifle and/or shotgun from New York City.”

The letter also advises that the recipient “may call to discuss the matter if you believe your firearm is in compliance, or you may request the option to bring your firearm to a licensed gunsmith for a permanent modification and certification proving that it is permanently modified and in compliance.”

The Associated Press reported that it wasn’t clear if police were taking aggressive steps to root out those who ignored the demands of the letter.

When legislators begin to argue that it is better to be raped than to carry a gun, you know we are falling farther and farther away from freedom. Every single Member of Congress needs to know that we will not compromise our Constitutional rights, and we will hold those who do accountable in 2014, 2016, and beyond.

    Democrats’ War On Women
    Posted on March 10 2013

Logical arguments promoting the Second Amendment do not work for the Left. They cannot back up gun control legislation with facts so they resort to ridiculous opinions about why the freedom to own a gun is a crime. And now, they are perpetuating the “divide and conquer” mentality of the Obama administration by claiming women don’t have the guts, the intelligence, or the strength to defend themselves with a firearm.

Our Second Amendment rights are hanging by a thread, but to hear Democrats talk about it, women should surrender their guns immediately, before somebody gets hurt. The worst comments are coming out of Colorado, where Sen. Jessie Ulibarri suggested that women use ballpoint pens to stab the gunman as he stops to reload. Rep. Paul Rosenthal helpfully suggested the buddy system, or learning judo.

However, over in the Colorado Senate, Evie Hudak seemed to disagree with Rosenthal. As a 25-year-old rape victim stood in front of her and argued that the attack—which occurred on a college campus—would not have occurred had she been able to defend herself with a gun, Senator Hudak said:

“You said that you were a martial arts student, I mean person, experienced in taekwondo, and yet because this individual was so large, was able to overcome you, even with your skills. And chances are that if you had had a gun, then he would have been able to get that from you and possibly use it against you.”

So, darn it all, what is a poor gal to do? If martial arts won’t work, and the attacker is likely to take your gun away from you, how is a little lady supposed to fend off danger?
At State University of New York at Plattsburgh, women are told to use “passive resistance,” such as vomiting, urinating or telling the attacker you are sick. At Oregon State, women are encouraged to say they are sick or pregnant. And the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh tells them to act “emotionally unstable.”

And Colorado Rep. Joe Salazar pointed out that women might not even be able to gauge correctly whether or not they are truly in danger. He said, “Because you just don’t know who you’re going to be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re going to be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around, or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be…”

The Left blames global warming. They blame the NRA. They blame the Second Amendment, and they blame women. They blame everyone for gun violence except the criminals.

The Second Amendment to our Constitution applies to all American citizens, not just the ones the Left deems worthy of its protection.

After Senator Hudak told Ms. Amanda Collins, the rape victim, that statistics were not on her side and her “assault would likely had been worse had she been armed with a gun,” Ms. Collins responded by saying:

“Respectfully, senator, you weren’t there. Had I been carrying concealed, he wouldn’t have known I had my weapon; and I was there. I know without a doubt in my mind at some point I would’ve been able to stop my attack by using my firearm.”
When legislators begin to argue that it is better to be raped than to carry a gun, you know we are falling farther and farther away from freedom. Every single Member of Congress needs to know that we will not compromise our Constitutional rights, and we will hold those who do accountable in 2014, 2016, and beyond.

Demand Congress honors the rights we are guaranteed under the Constitution. Because women like Ms. Collins are lucky; although she suffered a brutal assault, she lived to tell her tale. Another woman was not so lucky: the rapist who attacked Ms. Collins killed her. As that victim’s family mourns their loss, Ms. Collins is forced to fight for the right to defend herself in the face of Senator Hudak’s ignorance.

There is a war on women, indeed.

Colorado State Sen. Evie Hudak announced her resignation Wednesday, less than a week before opponents planned to turn in petitions seeking her recall.

CO State Senator resigns to avoid recall
Colorado State Sen. Evie Hudak voted for controversial gun-control measures,
Said she was resigning to preserve "these important new laws."

2 days ago - By Kristen Wyatt

DENVER — A third Democratic Colorado state senator facing possible recall after voting for gun-control measures said she will resign to avoid a recall election. The resignation of Sen. Evie Hudak of Denver's western suburbs came Wednesday, less than a week before opponents planned to turn in petitions seeking her recall. The resignation means Democrats will appoint an interim successor, guaranteeing they'll keep a one-seat majority in the Senate next session.

Two other Democratic senators were ousted from office in September recalls: former Senate President John Morse of Colorado Springs and former Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo. Both were replaced by Republicans. The recall efforts came after Colorado's Democratic Legislature and governor this year approved a slate of gun-control measures including ammunition magazine limits and expanded background checks. The limits were the first gun-control measures adopted outside the East Coast after the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook shootings in Connecticut that left 20 first-graders and six women dead.

Colorado's gun-control measures were seen as a national bellwether. Colorado is state where gun ownership is a treasured right, but also the site of two mass shootings that prompted Second Amendment questions. Last summer's shootings at a movie theater in Aurora and the 1999 Columbine High School shootings were never far from Colorado's gun debate, with relatives of victims of both massacres frequently appearing at the state Capitol to push for gun-control laws.

Hudak said in her resignation letter that she was quitting to preserve the gun-control package. A Democratic vacancy committee will appoint a replacement to serve until November of 2014, when an election will be held for a full term in the Jefferson County district. Democrats risked Republicans taking an 18-17 advantage in the Senate if Hudak were successfully recalled.

"By resigning, I am protecting these important new laws," Hudak wrote.

Hudak sponsored one of the new gun-control bills, a new law to restrict gun ownership by those who have committed domestic violence.

"I believe these bills will make life better for all the people of my district and for all Coloradans," she wrote.

Democrats are in solid control of the state House, meaning the gun laws would be unlikely to face repeal even if Hudak had been ousted.

Gun-rights advocates lauded Hudak's resignation as an indication that Democrats are running scared after ratcheting back gun rights.

"Coloradans proved gun rights will not be trampled on without reaction," said Jonathan Lockwood, spokesman for the conservative advocacy group Compass Colorado, in a tweet shortly after Hudak's announcement.

The senator didn't appear at a thank-you ceremony put on by her supporters in suburban Arvada. Democratic allies bemoaned the resignation.

"Recalls: nasty way to do politics. So sad," tweeted Democratic Sen. Linda Newell of Littleton, whose district includes Columbine High School.

"By resigning, I am protecting these important new laws," Hudak wrote.
By resigning, she is protecting the "Party"...

MILITARY OFFICER CALLS FOR NATIONWIDE GUN GRAB
Makes his call in a self-authored Esquire blog article

On Tuesday, Lt. Col. Robert Bateman sparked anger and controversy with a blog post at Esquire that calls for, among other things, a draconian set of rules severely limiting the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms and a 400 percent tax on ammunition.

Really can not stand this dude. He dodges the draft, then makes millions playing Vietnam veteran "Jon Rambo". Then he spends his whole career glorifying gun violence, but thinks it is ok to tell me I can not have a gun to protect my family.

    ..

Thought this might be a mistake so I searched. Every bit of it is fact. Several articles supporting it. What a hypocrite

We were taught right from wrong and had real world consequences at a young age, our parents were interested in raising the next generation. Too many of todays' parents are more interested in being their children's BFF's and parents stopped teaching the value of human life

CT Cop to Gun Owning Patriot: “I Cannot Wait to Get the Order to Kick Your Door In”
By Top Right News on March 9, 2014

Last week, TRN reported on Connecticut John Cinque’s 2013 warning to lawmakers that he would not comply with their attempts to force the citizens of Connecticut to register their semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines.

Since that time, the video has gone viral, with over 100,000 people viewing our video report. However, in a recent video between Mr. Cinque and Connecticut gubernatorial candidate Joe Viconti, Cinque reveals some very sinister blowback that occurred since the video went public.

Cinque said that after seeing his video, a police officer in his hometown of Branford, CT told him, “I cannot wait to get the order to kick your door in.”

    WATCH: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXVRk...layer_embedded

You can the video in its entirety here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu4yt1EUZcM

TRN has communicated with both Cinque and the Branford Police department for details on the name of this officer, but has not heard back at the time of this publication.

It’s getting scary up in Connecticut. An unpopular law is spurring mass resistance among the people, and many tyrants in power are doubling down. Something has to give. One can only hope a change can be made in the governor’s race this November before something tragic occurs.

Cinque was explaining last year’s account to Viconti. Specifically he referenced a phone conversation with Connecticut State Representative David Yaccarino. In that questioning, Cinque said that the thing that really stuck with him was the fact that when he asked Yaccarino why there was a Second Amendment, he responded that it was put in place so that the Colonists could attack the British.

No, seriously, that is what was said. Never mind that the Second Amendment was written long after the Revolutionary War ended.

This is the kind of arrogant ignorance we have to deal with — and that was a Republican! ” I don’t trust the Republicans…at the state or the federal level,” said Cinque. “This whole Progressive movement has bitten everyone, and that’s what it comes down to.” Very true words, indeed. The same can be said on a wide range of issues, from guns to immigration to the budget.

Yaccarino finished the conversation with Cinque and then the phone was hung up, and Cinque was determined to go to the meeting (you can see the video of his comments here if you missed them http://toprightnews.com/?p=1776 ).

John is among hundreds of thousands of Connecticut citizens who are exercising mass civil disobedience against not only a violation of their rights expressed in the Second Amendment, but also in the Connecticut State Constitution. They are not registering their weapons and they aren’t surrendering them as instructed.

We salute these patriots, who are reflecting the values of the original patriots — the American colonists — themselves. Values far too many Americans have long forgotten

You may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel. By Southern California standards, someone owning 100,000 rounds is considered "mentally unstable."

In Michigan, he'd be called "The last white guy still living in Detroit."

In Arizona, he'd be called "an avid gun collector."

In Arkansas, he'd be called "a novice gun collector."

In Utah, he'd be called "moderately well prepared," but they'd probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food."

In Kansas, he'd be "A guy down the road you would want to have for a friend."

In Montana, he'd be called "The neighborhood 'Go-To' guy."

In Alabama, he'd be called "a likely gubernatorial candidate."

In Georgia, he'd be called "an eligible bachelor."

In North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina he would be called "a deer hunting buddy."

And in Texas and Louisiana he'd just be "Bubba, who's a little short on ammo."

Maryland: 110,000 gun owners could soon face confiscation if new bill becomes law
    3/14/14 | by Chris Eger

A new bill in the Maryland House could identify 110,000 residents for gun confiscation by the State Police.

The bill would combine the state’s gun owner database with the one used for criminal records, then take “hits” generated by the cross-reference and have them investigated by a team of state troopers who would collect illegally owned weapons.

Del Luiz Simmons, (D-D17), says that the bill is needed because the Maryland State Police cannot systematically identify criminals who are required by law to surrender their guns.

Simmons’ bill, HB0623, would require the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to integrate the 3 million people in the Criminal Justice Information System with the 1.1 million residents in the Maryland Automated Firearms System (MAFS). This new database would allow the State Police to compare records of individuals who purchased a firearm to be cross-referenced with any local criminal records.

The bill mandates that the State Police compare the two lists at least twice a year to identify those who both possess firearms and have a record, so that the arms could be collected.

If enacted, HB0623 is estimated to cost $341,728 to set up the database as well as another $1,032,764 in yearly expenditures to fund seven additional state troopers to investigate “hits” generated by the new database and “secure firearms that are surrendered.”

Maryland State Police estimates that the first year’s use of the database listings could generate a “hit” rate of about 10 persons of the MAFS entries, or 110,000 persons with firearms who, subsequent to purchase, became disqualified for possession.
Maryland Del. Mike Smigiel, (R-D36), sees HB0623 as a loss of Second Amendment rights. (Photo credit: Baltimore Post)
Maryland Del. Mike Smigiel, (R-D36), sees HB0623 as a loss of Second Amendment rights. (Photo credit: Baltimore Post)

“It appears that the bill would take things that, 20 year ago or 30 years ago, would not be considered to be… associated with having a loss of your Second Amendment rights…then take the current day and say that you had a misdemeanor, a fight in a bar…that you shouldn’t own a firearm. Yet, for the last 20 years you’ve had the ability to purchase and own a gun,” said Del. Mike Smigiel (R-D36), a detractor of HB0623

These types of combined databases leading to confiscation are not new. In California, where a similar cross reference of the state’s databases for firearms owners, the mentally ill, and criminals, has led to an estimated 40,000 guns in the hands of those now deemed illegal by the state, there have been numerous incidents where incorrect information has sent armed agents to lawful gun owners.

In February a man’s home was raided and his guns seized, then later returned, over a forty year old crime that was no longer on the books. This came after a 2013 incident in which a gun owner had his firearms confiscated after his wife’s hospital stay, then also later returned.

HB0623 was heard in front of the Maryland House Judicial Committee last week and is still under debate. http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/fr...ect3&ys=2014RS

Rep. Keith Ellison Wishes the Democrat Party Would Come Out Against the Second Amendment
    March 23, 2014 By Matthew Burke

Watch below as Congressman Keith Ellison (after the 4:00 mark), when asked by leftist clown Bill Maher why the Democrat Party doesn’t just come out against the Second Amendment, replies, repeating the same sentence twice for emphasis, “I sure wish they would.”

REP. KEITH ELLISON: I mean, 27 children were mowed down. Isn’t that enough for us? One of our colleagues, [former Congresswoman] Gabby Giffords, shot in the face.

BILL MAHER: Then why doesn’t your party come out against the Second Amendment? It’s the problem.

ELLISON: I sure wish they would. I sure wish they would.
