Gibbs: No plans to stop running the Big Bird ad

Yesterday, the Sesame Street people asked the Obama campaign to stop running an ad featuring Big Bird. Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs said this morning that, for now anyway, the bird stays: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vid..._bird_ads.html
LAUER: And I find it hard to believe I’m asking this question here this morning, but will the campaign take Big Bird out of its ads.
GIBBS: I don’t know of any plans to change that ad.
The new campaign theme is “Bin Laden is dead, Big Bird is alive” and they’re not going to change it back now.
In the interview, Gibbs said the Big Bird ad raised an “important point” http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefi...mportant-point — that point being that fact checkers agree the ad is both four Pinocchios http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...b2a7_blog.html and pants on fire http://www.politifact.com/new-hampsh...fire-big-bird/ Ditto for Gibbs.
There are not only no plans to discontinue the ad (prediction: the next ad will feature Paul Ryan pushing Big Bird off a cliff and will air during tomorrow night’s VP debate), but the Sesame Street theme song has already made its Obama campaign debut. http://politicker.com/2012/10/ohio-o...et-theme-song/ Here’s a clip of the song featured at a rally that took place yesterday at the intersection of Desperation Avenue and Profound Embarrassment Parkway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6Juw...layer_embedded

Apparently the Obama camp doesn't believe in property rights and copyrights. I think it is time the Sesame Street Corp. should file a lawsuit, just like the rock stars do against the GOP candidates to stop them from using their songs while campaigning. These people really believe they are entitled to everything and anything that doesn't belong to them. http://www.politico.com/politico44/2...ry-137913.html Oh, and it's a crappy ad anyway... But, as on cue, when the bird sh it hit the fan over this the Obama camp deflected the blame and threw part of their base under the Obama bus... http://hotair.com/archives/2012/10/0...sroots-outcry/
“There’s been a strong grassroots outcry over the attacks on Big Bird. This is something that mothers across the country are alarmed about, and you know, we’re tapping into that,” Psaki told reporters aboard Air Force One on Wednesday…
“The larger point… is, aside from our love for Big Bird and Elmo, as is evidenced by the last few days, the point that we’re making here is that when Mitt Romney… was given the opportunity to lay out how he would address the deficit, when he said ‘I will take a serious approach to it,’ his first offering was to cut funding for Big Bird,” Psaki said. “And that is absurd and hard to take seriously his specific plan.”
Seriously, to belittle Mitt Romney's simple example is idiotic. He knows we do not have a government revenue problem. We have a spending problem. Romney pointing out the insanity of continually giving government (taxpayer) dollars to highly successful entities that are worth billions themselves is very much part of the spending problem.
The Sesame Street Co. KNOWS how this will backfire, and they do not want to take the financial hit from people who will be turned off by it and take it out on sales of their merchandise, etc, especially ahead of the holiday shopping season.
So blatantly defiant are they that the Sesame Street theme song is now being used at Obama rallies. Oh, and how queer is it that somebody such as Barbra Streisand, who would have her team of lawyers all over Romney if he used her intellectual and artistic property in campaign ads and events, that she sees no problem with this? http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/m...ncert/1621767/

The Obama camp has no intention of ceasing the use of the Sesame Street Corporation's character and name of Big Bird in the current anti-Romney ad http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vid..._bird_ads.html even after the company told them to.

are we dealing with a 2 yr old's mentality? This campaign and the last 4 years is showing a man who believes that he is above any laws except those he makes himself. He has sued states for upholding the constitution because he didn't feel they had that right and only he does and he doesn't have to abide by the constitution if he doesn't want to (this is where I can imagine him and his staf in unison going na na na na! to all american people). He is making this country look like the biggest joke. I am totally embarrassed by his dictatorial antics as I imagine him and his staff all in diapers, sucking their thumbs while holding on to their security blanket

I haven't seen this ad... or any ad for that matter... It doesn't make any sense, I live in one of the biggest cities in this country... why would we not see the ads... I was in Destin, Fl for a week and there were ads every other commercial... but not in DFW... or maybe just not att uverse? I mean, I don't mind I don't suppose... it's not like I want to see them... it's just really weird.

"Lady Parts" V "Lady Smarts" : Has the Obama Camapaign Jumped the Shark ?
“First Time:” The Democrats’ “lady parts” jump the shark
By Michelle Malkin • October 26, 2012 10:14 AM
Yawn.
Liberal journalists in the tank for Obama are claiming that conservatives are “outraged” http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...=feeds-newsxml and “enraged” http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/10...-obama-ad.html by Hollywood femme Lena Dunham’s campaign ad comparing her “first time” voting for Obama with losing her virginity.
You can watch the video and see all the starlets a-Twitter over the ad here. http://twitchy.com/2012/10/25/eww-in...ing-virginity/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=o6G3nwhPuR4
I’m not “outraged.” I’m bored.
These privileged young Democrat celebs haven’t stopped yapping and giggling about birth control and their swoon-worthy birth control supplier in the White House all year.
Zzzzzzzzzzz.
They’ve demanded RESPECT! and wheedled/whined about the “war on women” while dressed as giant VAGINAS!. http://twitchy.com/2012/08/28/empowe...op-convention/ They’ve demeaned themselves ://michellemalkin.com/2012/09/07/circus-of-the-vagina-gogues-vs-archbishop-timothy-cardinal-dolan/ by parroting bald-faced lies about Planned Parenthood http://michellemalkin.com/2012/10/17...lie-for-obama/ and turning everything — everything — into an excuse to talk about sex and their bodies and their entitlements to our money to pay for it. We conservative women who actually challenge their arguments are then cast as mean mommies who “bully” and “stalk.” http://twitchy.com/2012/10/23/hollyw...n-demean-moms/
Grow up already.
$16 trillion in debt. 8 percent unemployment. Benghazi. Bastion. Fast and Furious. Delphi. Solyndra. And the Obama campaign is seriously pimping an elite young filmmaker/actress’s indulgent ad gushing about Obama’s big hands, her birth control, and Lilly Ledbetter?
Seriously?
As Twitchy readers and Twitter followers know, we’ve been exposing the “lady parts” vapidity of the Hollywood Girls’ Club for Obama 24/7.
The Dunham ad is the lady parts’ brigades jump-the-shark moment — the ultimate trivialization of women’s issues. It is a damning indictment of the Obama campaign’s failed strategy that they have desperately sought last-ditch help from a self-absorbed, Sandra Fluke soul sister while the Republic crumbles.
Psssst. Liberal ladies and Obama strategists. Get your heads out of your lady parts.
It’s not working.

‘Your First Time’: New Obama web ad looks like it could have been transmitted from Vladimir’s campaign
By Doug Powers • October 25, 2012 09:04 PM
According to and AP-GfK poll, President Obama once had a 16 point lead among women, but that has since disappeared and Mitt Romney is now tied with Obama among female voters. What to do? Apparently they’ve decided to woo women back into the increasingly abandoned Hope & Change fold by equating voting for Obama to losing their virginity or something (see “Sexual Innuendo We Can Believe In” on page 17 of the 20-page plan for Obama’s 2nd term).
Here’s a new video from the Obama campaign’s YouTube channel called “Your First Time”:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=o6G3nwhPuR4
Is it a good idea for a campaign to equate voting for their candidate to getting screwed? Maybe not, but credit where credit is due — it might be one of their most metaphorically honest political ads in quite some time. And speaking of credit, a suggested Romney response ad would be “do you want your ‘first time’ to be with someone who rang up tens of thousands of dollars in debt to your Visa card when you weren’t looking?”
Okay, by now you might be wondering where Vladimir comes into play here. It’s come to my attention that the above ad could have found its inspiration in other parts of the world. Obama has had enough information transmitted to Vladimir, and now it looks as if some might have been transmitted from him. Putin had a very similar ad running heading into an election in Russia earlier this year. Video found on Twitter via @JayCaruso and @AndyDarnell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=BVtvqFphcbg
There’s another similar Putin ad at the Foreign Policy blog. http://blog.foreignpolicy.com/posts/...vladimir_putin

Ad: Vote for Obama and "do it with a great guy"
It's now okay for the official campaign of the president of the United States to sell the idea of voting to young people by likening it to losing their virginity, portrayed as an objectively good thing, of course, as long as you "do it with a great guy," namely, Barack Obama. The astonishingly inappropriate OFA ad is not only creepy and weird but speaks volumes about the bubble inhabited by the campaign faithful, who apparently see their guy as a teen heartthrob, and by the president himself, who, to put it gently, has some maturity issues. Any normal adult male would be mortified by the ad, no? (A truly pathetic aside is that the ad is a knock-off of one produced for Vladimir Putin. What won't the Obama campaign do to get votes?) A book could be written about the cultural implications of "Your First Time" and this short piece from Erick Erickson would get it off to a good start: http://www.redstate.com/2012/10/25/c...-night-stands/
If you needed further proof about just how much the President has cheapened the Presidency, consider his latest ad, which not only compares voting for him for the first time to losing virginity, but also ridicules those who might not want to lose their virginity to just any politician. This is the peer group peer pressure people across the political aisle have complained about in high schools for years. [. . .]
The reason Barack Obama is running this ad is because he is done trying to get independent voters. He’s given up. Despite campaign rhetoric about fighting for evangelicals, he’s given up there. He’s given up on Catholic voters. He’s given up on the South. He’s given up on men who have daughters. He’s given up on moms. He’s given up on everyone expect his core base of singles, gays, and minorities, including college kids he is desperate to get back to the polls.
The sad irony is that the president himself is a father of young daughters. Wouldn't it be nice if he remembered that and put it ahead of his ego and ambitions? More Erickson:
About the only honest bit of innuendo in the ad is that the people who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 have been screwed — economically. The problem for Barack Obama is that many of those people believe their vote for him was a one night stand that they’d prefer to forget. Additionally, we know now that Barack Obama, like that one night stand, probably won’t call you back. Just ask the American Consulate in Benghazi.
Speaking of Benghazi, stay tuned for some tough questions for the president today from . . . uh, well, Sway Calloway of MTV, who'll be hosting "Ask Obama LIVE" from the White House: I've got a couple of questions that Sway might squeeze in between embarrassing displays of presidential hipness and talking points about free contraceptives and tuition: Why no security for the embassy in Benghazi, and why no military help for the Americans under attack? A grown-up president would skip the preening and pandering and take those questions seriously.

Salon, (no linky for them) says that conservatives are “flipping out” over the Lena Dunham ad. (Libs just love it when conservatives are offended by their repulsive antics.)
But, Jim Treacher of The Daily Caller says, I think Lena Dunham’s Obama ad is great and she should do a bunch more just like it: http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/26/i-...#ixzz2ASUcADHw
Some people are aghast that Team Obama is so creepy and cultlike that they think this is a good ad. To them I say… What are you complaining about? This is a very promising sign. The Greatest President Ever knows he’s in trouble and is willing to try anything, anything, to squeeze out one more vote. If he thinks his base is so helpless and infantilized that something like this appeals to them, great. If he thinks this will sway “independents” and “undecideds” and other people who won’t admit they’re voting for Romney because their friends will think they’re uncool and/or racist, fantastic. Run with that.
Keep showing us just what a serious guy you are, Mr. President: Big Bird, binders, bayonets, and babbling bubbleheads.
