Obama is trying, by executive order to forbid anyone who is on the no fly list to buy guns. There is no due process for the no fly list. Obama could quite legally refuse to allow any member of the NRA or the Republican party to fly and there is no appeal.

Obama Declares He Will Act Unilaterally on Gun Control: ‘Congress Still Hasn’t Done Anything’
    By CNSNews.com Staff | January 1, 2016 | 8:40 AM EST

(CNSNews.com) - In his first weekly address of 2016, President Barack Obama expressed dismay that the U.S. Congress had not enacted gun control legislation he desired, so now he is planning to act unilaterally on the matter.

“This Friday, I’ll be thinking about my friend Gabby Giffords, five years into her recovery from the shooting in Tucson,” said Obama. “And all across America, survivors of gun violence and those who lost a child, a parent, a spouse to gun violence are forced to mark such awful anniversaries every single day.

“And yet Congress still hasn’t done anything to prevent what happened to them from happening to other families,” he said.

The president said he plans to meet with the attorney general to get the process moving.

“A few months ago, I directed my team at the White House to look into any new actions I can take to help reduce gun violence. And on Monday, I’ll meet with our Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, to discuss our options,” he said.

Here is the full text of the president’s weekly address: https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press...r-our-children

Happy New Year, everybody. I am fired up for the year that stretches out before us. That’s because of what we’ve accomplished together over the past seven.

Seven years ago, our businesses were losing 800,000 jobs a month. They’ve now created jobs for 69 straight months, driving the unemployment rate from a high of 10% down to 5%.

Seven years ago, too many Americans went without health insurance. We’ve now covered more than 17 million people, dropping the rate of the uninsured below 10% for the very first time.

Seven years ago, we were addicted to foreign oil. Now our oil imports have plummeted, our clean energy industry is booming, and America is a global leader in the fight against climate change.

Seven years ago, there were only two states in America with marriage equality. And now there are 50.

All of this progress is because of you. And we’ve got so much more to do. So my New Year’s resolution is to move forward on our unfinished business as much as I can. And I’ll be more frequently asking for your help. That’s what this American project is all about.

That's especially true for one piece of unfinished business, that’s our epidemic of gun violence.

Last month, we remembered the third anniversary of Newtown. This Friday, I’ll be thinking about my friend Gabby Giffords, five years into her recovery from the shooting in Tucson. And all across America, survivors of gun violence and those who lost a child, a parent, a spouse to gun violence are forced to mark such awful anniversaries every single day.

And yet Congress still hasn’t done anything to prevent what happened to them from happening to other families. Three years ago, a bipartisan, commonsense bill would have required background checks for virtually everyone who buys a gun. Keep in mind, this policy was supported by some 90% of the American people. It was supported by a majority of NRA households. But the gun lobby mobilized against it. And the Senate blocked it.

Since then, tens of thousands of our fellow Americans have been mowed down by gun violence. Tens of thousands. Each time, we’re told that commonsense reforms like background checks might not have stopped the last massacre, or the one before that, so we shouldn’t do anything.

We know that we can’t stop every act of violence. But what if we tried to stop even one? What if Congress did something – anything – to protect our kids from
    gun violence?

A few months ago, I directed my team at the White House to look into any new actions I can take to help reduce gun violence. And on Monday, I’ll meet with our Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, to discuss our options. Because I get too many letters from parents, and teachers, and kids, to sit around and do nothing. I get letters from responsible gun owners who grieve with us every time these tragedies happen; who share my belief that the Second Amendment guarantees a right to bear arms; and who share my belief we can protect that right while keeping an irresponsible, dangerous few from inflicting harm on a massive scale.

Everybody knew that one kid when they were younger who, when they didn’t get their way, would pitch a fit and take their toy or ball and just go home.

President Barack Obama basically just pitched a fit and threatened to take his toy called the Department of Homeland Security away from everybody, if the Republicans in Congress won’t fund his illegal and unconstitutional amnesty plans.

According to the Daily Caller, one of Obama’s top aides said that Obama could essentially block all funding for, and essentially shut down, the DHS, if the GOP tries to do anything legislatively about his executive amnesty.

Dan Pfeiffer said that Obama would block all funding for the entire department, and would veto any spending bill if the Republicans try to impose cuts to spending aimed at stopping or slowing Obama’s plans to allow illegal immigrants into the country. http://conservativetribune.com/obama...gov-shut-down/

This is basically a threat to the GOP to force them to back off plans to defund Obama’s amnesty.

”I think the Republicans know they have little to no leverage,” Pfeiffer said, according to The Daily Caller. “Are they going to shut down the Department of Homeland Security to undo our executive action? I don’t think they are going to do that.” http://dailycaller.com/2014/12/30/pf...-aid-illegals/

“There is an array of little things they can do. … I mean it is possible that insanity will prevail upon the House Republican caucus as it did last October during the (2013) shutdown,” he said.

As most should remember, the massive “Cromnibus” spending bill recently passed by Congress to fund the government until next September only included funding for the DHS through February.

The GOP’s plan is to do a separate funding bill just for the DHS, and it will likely include special provisions to defund and stop the implementation of Obama’s amnesty.

If the GOP does do that, and Obama carries through with his threat to veto that special bill, then Obama will have shut down the DHS in an effort to save his amnesty plan.

It’s clear that President Obama is now in the stage of his career where he is garnering international favor over the favor of the American public. His attempts at bringing in more Syrian refugees, circumventing the law to do it, is one sign that he is trying to appease European leaders overwhelmed by the crisis.

His attempts to push for strong gun control and transgender rights are part of a plan to make America look and feel more like liberal, socialist Europe.

The latest ridiculous move on Obama’s part was his speech in the wake of the Dallas shootings, where 12 police officers were harmed by a black sniper. Obama had some trite, forgettable words for the foreign press, as he spoke in Poland. He reasserted the America was united. Of course he’d have to say that, seeing as all the division and crisis we face was after his eight years of his bad leadership.

But he wants to look good to his foreign buddies, who just might have a job opening for him come next year.

Despite Obama’s obvious ignoring of the facts, America is in a desperate state, largely due to his divisive rhetoric. But one keen-eyed person is not letting this slip by.

Ben Carson recently spoke about Obama’s irresponsible comments.

Carson calls out Obama and activists movements for making the relations between races, genders, and religions worse than it has been for decades. He stood up for police officers for the risks they take to make our cities safe, something Obama refuses to do.

Sadly we don’t, right now, have the kind of leadership Carson represents. We need to eject the ignorant, intentionally deceptive practices of Obama and his liberal cronies. Only then can we begin to unite our nation once more.

    From the White House:

    THE WHITE HOUSE

    Office of the Press Secretary

For Immediate Release July 22, 2016

    TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:

I am returning herewith without my approval H.R. 1777, the “Presidential Allowance Modernization Act of 2016,” which would amend the Former Presidents Act of 1958.

I agree with H.R. 1777’s goal of reforming the pensions and allowances provided to former Presidents so as to reduce unnecessary costs to taxpayers. But if implemented as drafted, the bill would have unintended consequences. It would impose onerous and unreasonable burdens on the offices of former Presidents, including by requiring the General Services Administration to immediately terminate salaries and benefits of office employees and to remove furnishings and equipment from offices. It would withdraw the General Services Administration’s ability to administer leases and negatively impact operations, with unanticipated implications for the protection and security of former Presidents.

My Administration will work with the authors of the bill and other leaders in the Congress, in consultation with the offices of former Presidents, to explore the best ways to achieve these goals going forward. If the Congress returns the bill having appropriately addressed these concerns, I will sign it. For now, I must veto the bill.

    BARACK OBAMA

    THE WHITE HOUSE,

    July 22, 2016.

i am surprised he didn't just increase the amount! these poor millionaires if they want to keep an office can pay their own staff and not continue to bleed the american taxpayers who lack the benefits they keep getting. obama said the one thing he will miss is air force one http://thehill.com/homenews/administ...-air-force-one

my question is will he change the rules so that he will always have a private plane paid for by taxpayers so that he can jet to golf courses, vacations etc (and leave his foot prints on earth because it is ok for him to contribute to global warming because he is the king?)

President Obama Signs GMO ‘Non-labeling’ Bill, Leaves Millions of Americans in the Dark
    July 29th, 2016

New law discriminates against low-income, elderly and minorities

WASHINGTON— Today President Obama signed into law a GMO labeling bill that discriminates against more than 100 million Americans. The bill recently passed through Congress and allows companies and producers to use QR codes, 1-800 numbers and other difficult to access technology to label food products that contain GMOs, instead of clear, on-package text. The law also sets a dangerous precedent to override the sovereignty of states, as many state labeling laws, including Vermont’s recently enacted GMO labeling law, are now void. Consumer, food safety, farm, environmental, and religious groups along with several food corporations representing hundreds of thousands of Americans condemned the bill when it was before Congress. The FDA said the bill’s narrow and ambiguous definition of “bioengineering,” would “likely mean that many foods from GE sources will not be subject to this bill” and that it “may be difficult” for any GMO food to qualify for labeling under the bill. Civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson said the bill raised “serious questions of discrimination” and left “unresolved matters of equal protection of the law”.

The following is statement from Andy Kimbrell, executive director at the Center for Food Safety:

“I don’t know what kind of legacy the president hopes to leave, but denying one-third of Americans the right to know what is in the food they feed their families isn’t one to be proud of. This law is a sham and a shame, a rushed backroom deal that discriminates against low-income, rural, minority and elderly populations. The law also represents a major assault on the democratic decision making of several states and erases their laws with a vague multi-year bureaucratic process specifically designed to provide less transparency to consumers.”

President Signs Law That Overturns Vermont GMO Labeling Rules, Replaces Them With Barcodes
July 29, 2016 by Chris Morran

Earlier this month, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell fast-tracked a controversial piece of legislation aimed at overturning and preempting state laws for labeling foods made with genetically modified ingredients. The Senate passed the bill without going through committee or debate, and then the House okayed it without changing a word. Now comes confirmation from the White House that President Obama has signed the legislation into law.

The law, S. 764 (read below for the bizarre history of this particular shell of a bill), doesn’t just overturn existing state labeling laws in Vermont and elsewhere — even though companies like Campbell Soup, Mars Inc., PepsiCo, Nestlé, and General Mills have already started labeling their products nationwide. It also directs the Secretary of Agriculture to eventually — at some point in two to three years — come up with a national labeling standard.

However, that standard could be incredibly weak and provide virtually no information to consumers, argue opponents of the law.

Food producers would not actually need to disclose GE ingredients on their packaging. Instead, they would be allowed to simply print a website address where customers could get more information. The least transparent option involves the use of barcodes that must be scanned to take the shopper to that website.

The FDA warned the authors of this bill — a pair of senators who have received more than $2.1 million from agribusiness donors for this election cycle alone — that text of the bill seemed to open up several loopholes, allowing for certain ingredients to avoid the GMO label.

For example, the law says food products receiving these labels must contain “genetic material.” By the FDA’s reckoning, that would seem to exempt products like oils, starches, and purified proteins even if they were sourced from GE crops.

The law also says that an item is only to be labeled as genetically modified if the modification could not have occurred through “conventional breeding.” The FDA raised concerns that the lack of specificity in the language could open this term up to an overly generous reading.

How A Bill Becomes A Law… when you don’t want anyone to debate it:

As we’ve done our best to explain before, S. 764 began life as “A bill to reauthorize and amend the National Sea Grant College Program Act” and still technically carries that name.

That original bill, which had nothing to do with food labeling, was initially passed by the Senate, but since it never made it any further, Sen. McConnell was able to use the husk of the Sea Grant College bill as a way to expedite later bills he felt deserved to be on the fast track.

First, he hollowed out S. 764 and replaced it with a bill to defund Planned Parenthood. Then that text was gutted and replaced with the first attempt at outlawing state-level GMO labeling laws by creating a voluntary national labeling standard.

When that bill failed — and with the July 1 launch of the Vermont labels approaching — two of the Senate’s biggest recipients of agribusiness money, Sen. Pat Roberts (KS) and Sen. Debbie Stabenow (MI) rushed out a “compromise” bill that would eventually create a national standard while outlawing any state-level labeling rules (unless they agree exactly with the national standard, which would make them redundant anyway).

Because McConnell fast-tracked that bill, it never saw a day in committee, where there would have been hearings involving stakeholders, followed by proposed amendments. Instead, it went straight to the Senate floor, where members from both sides of the political spectrum okayed it with minimal consideration.

Obama Signs Bill Mandating GMO Labeling
    By Paul Blake ·July 29, 2016, 6:10 PM ET

A bill that creates a federal labeling standard for foods containing genetically modified ingredients (commonly called GMOs) was signed into law by President Barack Obama today. “This measure will provide new opportunities for consumers to have access to information about their food,” Katie Hill, a White House spokeswoman, told ABC News.

Two weeks ago, Congress passed the legislation which would require food packages to display an electronic code, text label, or some sort of symbol signifying whether or not they contain GMOs, according to The Associated Press.

The exact details will need to be worked out by the Department of Agriculture, which will have up to two years to write the rules, The AP reports.

The news agency says that the law was largely supported by the food industry, which wished to see a national standard set for labeling products with GMOs, rather than separate and varying laws passed by states.

GMOs, often called "genetically engineered" crops, have their genetic information modified to give a plant a desirable trait.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, genetically engineered crops first entered the U.S. food supply in the 1990s, and account for 93 percent of planted soybeans and 88 percent of corn.

Genetically engineered crops, the agency says, are as safe to eat as traditional crops. Between 75 and 80 percent of foods contain genetically engineered ingredients, The AP reports.
