MSNBC reveals the REAL reason liberals want to tax the rich

We always hear the mantra of the rich need to pay their fair share and that we need to tax the rich coming from the progressive socialist left. There was the class warfare rhetoric of 1 percent versus 99 percent — all nice populist chatter.

But now I know why the left wants to tax the rich more (even though the top 10-20 percent of wage earners in America pay some 70 percent of taxes).






It’s because the progressive socialist left doesn’t want to pay its share AT ALL.

As reported by National Review, “Touré Neblett, co-host of MSNBC’s The Cycle, owes more than $59,000 in taxes, according to public records reviewed by National Review. In September 2013, New York issued a state tax warrant to Neblett and his wife, Rita Nakouzi, for $46,862.68. Six months later, the state issued an additional warrant to the couple for $12,849.87. In January 2014, Neblett tweeted, “Regressive taxation & tax-avoidance & union crushing & the financial corruption of legislation has fueled inequality more than hard work.” In 2012, he also criticized Republican politicians, saying they were “all afraid to vote for a modest tax increase of people who can totally afford it.”

Last month, New York filed a $4,948.15 tax warrant against Joy-Ann Reid, who serves as managing editor of theGrio.com and until earlier this year hosted MSNBC’s The Reid Report, and her husband, Jason. Reid has called taxes on the wealthy “a basic fairness argument,” also arguing for “smart spending and smart tax increases” to create economic growth.

Last week, the Winston-Salem Journal reported that Melissa Harris-Perry, who hosts an MSNBC show named after herself, and her husband, James Perry, owed around $70,000 in delinquent taxes, according to a federal lien filed in April 2015. Harris-Perry told the newspaper that she and her husband had made a $21,721 payment toward that debt on Tax Day. “We actually do better as a country when we spread the wealth around,” Harris-Perry has said. She has also quoted Obama, calling income inequality “the fundamental threat to the American dream.” She called for Republican lawmakers to acknowledge that “the growing income disparity in America is, in fact, you know, a real thing,” adding that “they would have to decide if, ideologically, it’s an issue worth addressing, and if so, if it is the government’s problem to fix.”

Meanwhile, Al Sharpton’s tax problems have been the subject of extensive coverage by National Review and other publications. In November, the New York Times estimated that Sharpton and his entities owed as much as $4.5 million in taxes, penalties, and interest, a sum the MSNBC host disputes.

Now let’s be honest, this would be ALL OVER the liberal progressive media if it were four Fox news hosts or contributors. And don’t give me the “racist” excuse — this is evidence of the blatant hypocrisy of the left.

Maybe now we can get Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid to speak from the Senate floor and say that Toure, Reid, Harris-Perry, and Sharpton don’t pay THEIR taxes. Ok, wishful thinking!

After I ran for Congress in 2008 I had an audit done, for the time I was in Afghanistan. I think it was less than a $20 discrepancy found. Now, imagine, four prominent black conservatives not paying their taxes, good Lord, it would be the end of days! But this won’t get widespread coverage — just as it was with “Cold Cash” Jefferson or Jesse Jackson Jr.

Is there a blatant double standard? Damn right there is! But nah, it’ll never change. Honest objective journalism doesn’t exist on the left. And just so you know, “As to the current tax controversies of its hosts, MSNBC declined NR’s request for comment. We wanted to know whether the network thought that pushing for bigger taxes for the wealthy was hypocritical, given failure of MSNBC’s own high-paid hosts to meet their fundamental tax obligations. Silence from the network on that, and little else.”

That silence tells you all that you need to know about the liberal progressive socialist left.

Melissa Harris-Perry Owes $70K in Back Taxes; IRS Files Lien

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and her husband owe almost $70,000 in back taxes, and the IRS has filed a lien to recover the money.

Harris-Perry told the Winston-Salem Journal that she and her husband, James Perry, paid $21,721 toward their delinquent taxes on Wednesday when they filed their tax return. She also told the newspaper that personal crises had delayed their debt repayment; the debt is from the tax period ending Dec. 31, 2013. http://www.journalnow.com/news/local...eea1356be.html

“We were aware that we would continue to need to work to pay off the 2013 debt,” she said in an email to the Journal. Harris-Perry was unaware of the lien when the newspaper contacted her, but said they have a payment plan established with the IRS.

Harris-Perry, a noted liberal in her politics, was taken to task online about her failure to pay taxes.

“If anyone ever wondered why liberals get labeled hypocrites they need look no further than the queen of media progressives, Melissa Harris-Perry,” wrote BizPacReview.com. “This comes after years of lectures from the ultra-progressive activist/TV personality that high taxes are good thing, because as she argues, they pay for much needed entitlement programs the poor depend upon.”

Many news reports noted that Harris-Perry is the second left-wing MSNBC staffer to be delinquent in their taxes. Al Sharpton is in debt to the IRS for about $3 million.
