It's becoming more and more clear that duct tape may need to be regulated among parents ... at least when it comes to the cruel, sadistic, abusive variety of parents. This latest duct-tape horror story out of Pennsylvania is heartbreaking.
Caira Ferguson, 21, has been charged with unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, and child endangerment after photos surfaced of her daughter bound with duct tape to a chair, clad only in a diaper. More strips were covering her mouth, and Ferguson was right there in photographs posing with her. Rage is the only emotion I can muster when I think of a mother doing this to her own daughter ... and then having the audacity to actually pose for photographs after doing so.
Ferguson originally denied that she did it, but later admitted it.
"That's a rotten thing to do to your child," the judge in the case said after Ferguson's arraignment. "I've seen a lot of stuff, but just that picture ... you can't do that."
No you can't, or rather you shouldn't. I can't even imagine a punishment fitting enough. She's currently being held in jail without bail until her hearing.
The only slightly amusing part of the story is that she got caught when she went to police to file an identity theft compliant and said someone posted the pictures, which were taken last summer, on the Internet without her consent. So bright woman that she is, she busted herself and was arrested the next day.
"She contacted us for an alleged identify theft and brought that picture," said Chester Township Police Chief Ken Coalson told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "When we looked at the picture, we were thinking to ourselves, 'Well, what you're showing us here, we want to look into that.'"
And thank goodness, I can only imagine the other treatment this poor little girl is subjected to with a mother like this. I hope all involved get the help they so obviously need.
What punishment do you think this woman should face?

Police have filed endangerment charges against a southeastern Pennsylvania woman whose toddler was photographed while bound to a chair with duct tape covering her mouth.
The Delaware County Daily Times reports that 21-year-old Caira Ferguson of Toby Farms in Chester Township, was charged Wednesday after being questioned by Nether Providence Township police.
Ferguson was arrested Wednesday because of outstanding warrants, police told NBC Philadelphia.
Chester Township police became aware of the photograph when Ferguson, who is the woman pictured in the photo, lodged an identity theft complaint with the police station Tuesday, police told NBC Philadelphia. “She told us that it is her in the photograph, ” Police Chief Ken Coalson told the Delco Times.
Police have had contact with the toddler since the investigation began, Coalson said. The incident happened last summer when Ferguson lived in Nether Providence, according to police.
Police believe a friend of Ferguson took the photograph.
Ferguson briefly defended herself while police escorted her outside of the station. "I did not duct tape my daughter," said Ferguson.
Ferguson's father, Ira Ferguson, insists that her daughter is not an abusive mother. "My daughter is a very loving daughter, very loving mother, very loving friend to me and all her family," said Ira Ferguson.
Police say that during questioning, Caira Ferguson admitted to taping her daughter to the chair last summer inside the Wallingford home where she and her family used to live. Ira denies this however. "I have word from her mouth she did not confess," said Ira Ferguson. "I'd like that to be known."
Police say that two other children under the age of eight witnessed the incident. Police also say that they searched Caira Ferguson's current home and that the chair from the picture still had remnants of duct tape attached to it.
Despite all of this, Caira Ferguson's father remains supportive and still insists that his granddaughter has never been in danger. "She's loved in the home, she's cared for," said Ira Ferguson.
Anyone with information about the photo or the incident depicted in the photo is asked to call Chester Township Police at 610.494.0211.

So now the child is in the care of someone who can not face the facts literally before his eyes ... wonder where Caira learned her parenting skills, Dad ??
How is she planning to argue this ?? I can see her trying to blame the other kids ... there is a problem there too : when I was a kid, my brothers ducted taped me to a chair - when my parents found me... they cut off the tape, not got a camera and posed for photos.
