there will be many people crying foul when reality sets in. The fact that government dictates for things that they themselves do not have to do is totally unfair. I can see why states are opting out because the federal government has no concept of how to manage money. they believe that if there is no money in washington then the states have to pay...and the bottom line is that the people who can least afford it have to foot the bill. I would love to see where stores require customers to show proof of where they work and if they work for the government and do not pat at least half their benefits then the stores can charge a fee which would go into a fund for people who need insurance and do not have it (must be american citizens). I base this on the fact that our government feels that all government employees work for the taxpayers and should have their benefits paid for and since if they go into a store then the employees are working for them.....and as O says we are all equal so if I pay government employees' benefits then they should pay for mine since I am working for them!

Individual Health Insurance To Increase from 32% to 80% According to Recent Study
Posted on March 30, 2013 by Dave Jolly
There is no secret that health insurance premiums have been going up by leaps and bounds ever since the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was passed and signed into law. I know one employer who’s employer provided health care coverage for his employees was up for renewal last fall. He was notified that to renew the coverage without any changes, the cost would be 41% higher than the previous year.
With the huge increases in costs to employers, many of them are opting to drop the employer provided health care benefits and just pay the penalties imposed by the government. The penalties may be up to $2,000 per employee, but when compared to paying anywhere from $4,500 to over $12,000 per employee for health care, it’s a no brainer for many employers.
The result is that thousands, perhaps millions of American’s are losing their employer provided health care coverage, leaving them with two options – purchase their own individual coverage or go without coverage and pay the penalties via their income taxes. Now, it seems the costs of individual policies are skyrocketing beyond what most Americans can afford to pay.
The Society of Actuaries just released a study indicating the costs of individual medical insurance claims in many states are going to see huge increases. http://news.yahoo.com/study-health-o...-politics.html Their study predicted that some states, such as New York and Massachusetts may see double digit decreases in the costs of individual medical insurance claims, while others are going to see costs of claims go through the roof. They predict that by 2017, claims in Florida will increase by 20%, California by 62%, Maryland by 67% and Ohio by 80%.
You can be assured that if the claims filed by individual policy holders are going to increase by those massive amounts, that the insurance companies will have no recourse but to pass the increases along to policy holders. Their premiums, especially in states like California, Maryland and Ohio could rise so high as to make it completely unaffordable for the vast majorities of Americans.
The White House has been trying to downplay the results and claim that they failed to take into account other factors. However, Rick Foster, recently retired Medicare chief actuary, described the report as being accurate and those involved as doing an incredible job. Commenting further, he said: http://news.yahoo.com/study-health-o...-politics.html
“Having said that, actuaries tend to be financially conservative, so the various assumptions might be more inclined to consider what might go wrong than to anticipate that everything will work beautifully.”
Kristi Bohn, one of the actuaries that worked on the report said: http://news.yahoo.com/study-health-o...-politics.html
“Claims cost is the most important driver of health care premiums.”
“We don’t see ourselves as a political organization. We are trying to figure out what the situation at hand is.”
Yet, Larry Levitt, from the Kaiser Family Foundation, believes the study needs further work. He commented: http://news.yahoo.com/study-health-o...-politics.html
“I’d generally characterize it as providing useful background information, but I don’t think it’s complete enough to be treated as a projection.”
I haven’t heard of anyone’s premium rates going down, only up, up and up some more. The number of uninsured Americans is increasing at an alarming rate. The Affordable Care Act should be called the Unaffordable Care Act. It has done nothing that I’ve see to make any aspect of health care more affordable and the report from Society of Actuaries only helps to paint a bleak future for those with individual health insurance.

what the insurance companies have been doing is raising the cost by small increases each year BUT they have changed their payout so that where there was no cost for an xray the member now has to pay. rates for er might have been at one time $35 are now $150. Outpatient and inpatient which ta one time was totally covered are no longer. As an out patient you could pay hundred and an inpatient can pay $500 per day. There are now prescription deductibles where there had nor been. I have personally seen these changes and even communicated this to the state commissioner who had the audacity to response that rates have only gone up 2% and never responded (ignorance?) how some items have gone up 300%! I have seen some policies where the deductible is $10000-$20000 per person per year! I know of at least one large insurer who stopped insuring small businesses.
Government needs a reality check or perhaps a mental one?

My son fell and hit his head - split to the bone - blood everywhere. Took him to the local "Afterhours Clinic" ... seven staples to fix the gash. Insurance waited 345 days to declare that they were not considering it an accident under their coverage. I had to pay $356.00 This past summer, my daughter kicked a soccer ball without a shoe and broke her toe - clean break visible on the x-ray. Insurance has only waited six months before again declining to cover this as an accident. $186.00

and it will get worse. If you had NOT been an american citizen, you could have walked into the er and it would have been totally covered! I would send the bill to Obama since he stated we are all equal and since he had an accident playing basketball and he didn't have to pay anything, then he should pay your bill! (he has a live in doc who stitched him right up when O went back to the citizens' house where he is only a guest - white house).
does your insurance state that only illness is covered? if not I would go to your state medical commissioner and ask them to intercede. I would also contact my senator, newspaper, tv station (that is not liberal and does not kiss O's and the dems butts). There must also be some childrens right org who might be interested in this. I have never known a child who never gets hurt!

ObamaCare has shown itself to be even worse than we initially thought! Have you heard the news that tens of thousands of health care professionals, union workers and community activists will be hired as "navigators" to help Americans choose Obamacare options starting Oct. 1? They could earn $20 an hour or more! Yes, it is true.
Check out this article : http://washingtonexaminer.com/obamac...stom_click=rss
The 63-page rule covering navigators, http://www.ofr.gov/OFRUpload/OFRData/2013-07951_PI.pdf drawn up by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, also said the government will provide free translators for those not fluent in English -- no matter what their native language is.
"The proposed requirements would also include that such entities and individuals provide consumers with information and assistance in the consumer's preferred language, at no cost to the consumer, which would include oral interpretation of non-English languages and the translation of written documents in non-English languages when necessary to ensure meaningful access," said the regulations.
The rules also addressed conflict of interest and other potential issues that navigators could face as the public's first stop on the Obamacare trail.
It is still not clear how many navigators will be required. California, however, provides a hint. It wants 21,000.
That could be an expensive proposition. The proposed rules, now open for public comment, suggest an estimated pay of $20-$48 an hour.
"There is a section of the proposed regulation where our financial analysts estimate how financially significant the regulation will be. In that section, for the purposes of estimating that impact, they assumed navigators would be paid an average of $20 an hour. That is an estimate, not a recommendation or a requirement," said an administration official. "States and organizations are not required by the federal government to set any payment levels for these employees," he added.
The rules allow navigators to come from the ranks of unions, health providers and community action groups such as ACORN and Planned Parenthood. They are required to provide unbiased advice.
Some in Congress are already wary of the navigators. Louisiana Republican Rep. Charles Boustany Jr., chairman of the House Ways and Means Oversight subcommittee, has raised questions about a voter registration provision in the Obamacare application Americans will have to fill out to receive health care, and whether Democratic-leaning activists will influence which party people choose to join.
