How would you report a doc doing testing when not needed? How's bout starting with the AMA?

You can't predict the future. Although, it's an excuse for sitting idly by while a doc rips off the patient and insurance companies.

I don't like to argue and resent that accusation.

The gov getting involved isn't going to solve waste if people who see it don't speak up. You chose not to, so stop complaining about it. You want a change? You had the power to say something, you knew the situation, you chose not to......

I'd hope you'll do things differently if there's another opportunity.

Actually,when you have gov asst health care it is hard for there to be wasteful tests done.Every single thing you have done has to be approved.If Doctor X has you get an x-ray(example)they won't cover another one from Doctor Z.Not posting just to argue,I have that type of healthcare and there is no way two tests would be repeated unless it was deemed extremely needed for some reason.

Exactly. I also work very closely with doctors...for over 25 years and I wish I could spend more time with patient care then sitting on a telephone precertifying every little test a patient needs. The insurance companies micro manage every move you make when they're paying out and often times I have to fight with them in order to get a simple test done. I'm talking state sponsored healthcare as well as private insurance.

If that's the case, how does that explain the Medicare fraud we hear about and the waste in the healthcare system?

Sounds like the healthcare industry is already being careful about what they spend. Can you imagine, rather than to be dealing with an insurance company, dealing with a health Czar?

A government bureaucrat making your healthcare decisions.

I'm sure the million+ uninsured kids and their families would rather have a "Health Czar" approving their medical procedures than to continue to worry constantly about every little sniffle or activity. Whatever happened to "protecting the innocent"? If someone is truly pro-life and wants to protect the innocent then they should be in favor of universal health care. Those that aren't just feed into that whole stigma that the pro-life radicals only care until the baby is born and only as long as it doesn't affect them and their wallet in any way, shape, or form.

If you think private insurance companies aren't filled with fraud and wasteful spending which is, of course, passed on to the consumer then I have a nice bit of beach front property here in AZ to sell you.

Well if you can tell me another way someone can truly be concerned about doing what is best for innocent children while not caring if there are over a million with no insurance coverage then please fee free to explain it. Because it seems pretty hypocritical to me. You either care about the well being of others or you don't. I suppose you can care a little bit but that goes right along with that whole "Protect the innocent as long as it doesn't impact my life or wallet" bit.
