US Military Reveals Massive Plan To Attack, Retake Mosul From Islamic State

As if sending a warning to Islamic State fighters, the U.S. military reveals details of a massive attack plan to retake Mosul, Iraq.

U.S. forces are amassing and training 20,000 to 25,000 Iraqi and Kurdish forces in preparation for a spring attack to retake Mosul, Iraq from an estimated 1,000 to 2,000 fighters of the Islamic State, or ISIS.

In an extraordinary briefing for reporters, an official from U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM, which oversees the military coalition fight against ISIS in Iraq, detailed the size and composition of a force that the U.S. hopes will be ready for the offensive within as early as five weeks.

The coalition attack force would consist of five Iraqi brigades that the official said must first go through a U.S. training course, in addition to three Peshmerga brigades that would attack Mosul “from the north,” a newly formed “Mosul fighting force” of mostly Mosul police officers, and special operations forces of Iraq’s Counter Terrorism Service – all of whom are under the advise and assist leadership of U.S. forces in Iraq.

Gen. Lloyd Austin, CENTCOM commander, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey are still eyeballing April or May for the offensive, the official said, but that timetable could slide if enough Iraqi brigades have not completed the training, or for other factors.

The U.S. official would not say how much territory ISIS fighters now control because, he said, there are varied estimates even among the intelligence community. “I would be hard pressed,” said the official. But since operations against ISIS began last summer, Iraqi Security Forces have retaken between 700 and 800 square kilometers.

“Militarily, ISIL is in decline,” said the official, who claimed the coalition had taken three-quarters of one military division’s worth of equipment and resources “off the battlefield.” But the official offered no clearer picture of the estimated sizes and state of ISIS fighters today.

On the north flank of the greater ISIS war, the U.S. military official notably also cited the pressure on ISIS coming from President Bashar al-Assad’s forces as a factor in the group’s decline.

In the north, Syrian rebels are closer to receiving U.S.-led training. A training site in Turkey for Syrian rebels is “ready to go,” the official said, but is awaiting a final agreement with the U.S. to be signed. A training site in Saudi Arabia is 60 to 90 days away from being ready to open. Training at a third site in Qatar is still nine months away.

good manners require advanced notice...sure would not want them caught with their pants down...now would we? duh O. perhaps our government wants to give them advanced warning similar to telling our enemies when we were vacating iraq and our enemy waited on the sidelines to wave goodbye and blow kisses before they advanced (and also took over US weaponry when the iraqis panicked and ran for their lives. i did hear one person say that perhaps O was dissing the iraqis in order to get them to stand tall and fight. i have my doubts but then again what would i know since i didn't go to harvard. perhaps before he attacks, he can get the state department to be the advance troops loaded down with job applications, job interview clothing and anything else they might need to get out of their economic rut and throw their kurans down and convert to obamaism (will marie harf be the first volunteer?). I do wonder how many of these members of isis o is planning on putting in our government. i can't help but remember one government worker (hls) who on his webpage stated that more whites have to be killed and even though he was sent home, he still got paid. o now also wants to digitally connect christians and muslims so they can make nice (digital penpals?) because he feels that muslims are misunderstood....so does this mean he also plans of having a private party for israeli jews and hamas so they can hug and kiss? will o give america to a country like iran so that perhaps they will accept him, hug him, blow him a kiss....and pose for selfies with him?

But that’s not the worst of it.

The State Department has a small unit called the “Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications” and the current director, Alberto Fernandez, is being replaced in April by Rashad Hussain — a man with known ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Here we go again — under attack from within.

Cal Thomas reported that, “Hussain, a devout Muslim, has a history of participating in events connected with the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Supporters and members of the Islamic State group can produce up to 90,000 tweets per day (H/T Breitbart).

The State Department labels their new unit as an “anti-propaganda” unit.

I suppose they’ll help win the war against radical Islamic terror by responding to tweets or perhaps by utilizing Twitter’s “report abusive tweet” button? Are they going to troll Jihadi John?

It’s laughable, at best. But replacing the current head of the division with a man some critics have labeled as a Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer is downright scary.

Any effectiveness this program had before will go by the wayside when Hussain takes the reins. Obama is essentially giving the lead to a radical Islamist sympathizer and it’s difficult to determine how that would be any type of advantage whatsoever.

The unit has an arsenal of “more than 350 State Department Twitter accounts, combining embassies, consulates, media hubs, bureaus and individuals, as well as similar accounts operated by the Pentagon, the Homeland Security Department and foreign allies.”

We’re certain that the barbaric radical Islamists are absolutely terrified of Obama’s new plan to beat them on Twitter.

I, for one, hope that the leaders and citizens of other countries accidentally skip over this report, because to call it embarrassing would be a massive understatement.

Levin to Obama: ‘Thousands of Anne Franks’ Brutalized by Islamo-Nazis'

Reading a passage from The Diary of Anne Frank – written by the Jewish girl who died in a Nazi labor camp -- author and talk-radio host Mark Levin said the Islamic State “genocide” in Syria and Iraq is particularly a war on “little girls and women,” and he called upon President Obama to do something about the “tens of thousands of Anne Franks right now being brutalized” by the Islamists.

Levin also stressed that Obama, like British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain who appeased the Nazis in the run-up to World War II, was “a patsy for Islamic terrorism” as Chamberlain “was a patsy for the Third Reich.”

On Fox’s Hannity, Feb. 19, Levin said, “I do want to do one thing, to remind people what we're really talking about here. Obama, as I said, is a patsy for Islamic terrorism the way Chamberlain was a patsy for the Third Reich. And this won't take long.”

“I want to just -- a couple of sentences from Anne Frank's diary because, you know, Sean, this is a war really on little girls and women,” said Levin. “That's what's taking place, the brutalization in front of our faces.”

Levin, himself a best-selling author and whose radio program is ranked No. 4 in the nation, then read a passage Anne Frank composed in her diary in 1944 that says, “I reached the point where I can hardly care where I live or die. The world will keep on turning without me, and I can't do anything to change events anyway. I'll just let matters take their course and concentrate on studying and hope that everything will be all right in the end.’

“But the minute I was alone, I knew I was going to cry my eyes out,” wrote Frank, who died at 15 in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. “I slid to the floor in my nightgown and began by saying my prayers very fervently. Then I drew my knees to my chest, lay my head on my arms and cried, all huddled up on the bare floor. And then a loud sob brought me back to Earth.”

Levin then said, “Mr. President, Mr. President, there are tens of thousands of Anne Franks right now being brutalized. Why don't you do something about it? Why don't you, why don't you demonstrate that you're a leader? You're the commander-in-chief. And let's take care of business.”

Host Sean Hannity remarked, “I don't think it's going to happen under this man.”

Earlier in the program, Hannity asked Levin about former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s comment from earlier in the week when he said, ‘I do not believe this president loves America.’

Asked for his reaction, Levin said, “Rudy's exactly right. And I would add -- and I've said this many years on my radio program -- when somebody says they want to fundamentally transform America, well, then you must not love America. It's like saying I'm going to fundamentally transform my wife, or my girlfriend. That means you must not love your wife or your girlfriend.”

“Obama has shown no indication that he loves the Constitution,” said Levin. “He never talks about capitalism. He's always bringing up the past. He's always picking at scabs. Even now, he's a patsy for Islamic terrorism! Half of his speeches are about how terrible America is and America shouldn't react in a negative way.”


Levin also criticized the president for trying to draw a parallel, as he did at the Feb. 5 National Prayer Breakfast, between Islamic State barbarians and the Crusades.

“I want to remind this president,” said Levin, “he likes to bring up Jesus in a certain context, and I say this as a Jew -- you know, there's an awful lot of Christians in America and in Europe who have died, who have been maimed, who have been harmed trying to defend innocent, peace-loving Muslims in the Middle East, in Afghanistan and so forth, and it would be nice every now and then if he would acknowledge that.”

“And I would also say, this man is the most preposterous and absurd president, [in] modern American history, maybe any time in American history!” said Levin.

“Here’s the sad fact,” he continued. “The sad fact is because of what he's doing or not doing, it's going to be left to the next president to deal with this. And it's going to be much worse, the genocide much more widespread. They're going to have much more geography, much more resources because this guy's not going to do it. For whatever reason, he is not up to the task.”

Anneliese Marie ‘Anne’ Frank was born on June 12, 1929 and apparently died from typhus during a typhus epidemic at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in March 1945. Her sister Margot also died at the camp. Between July 1942 and August 1944, the Frank family hid in a secret room in one of her father’s business premises in Amsterdam until an informant tipped off the Nazis of their whereabouts.

Anne Frank wrote most of her diary while in the secret room. Anne’s mother, Edith, died in Auschwitz but her father, Otto Frank, survived his imprisonment and after the war retrieved Anne’s diary from Jan and Miep Gies, a Catholic couple who had helped conceal the Franks in the secret annex.
