Bacon found at NY Muslim celebration probed as possible hate crime
    Reuters – 16 hrs ago.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Authorities were investigating as a possible hate crime the discovery of uncooked bacon scattered on the grounds of a New York City park where Muslims gathered to celebrate the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, police said on Monday. Festivities to mark the close of Ramadan, when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, on Sunday had been publicized in local media and drew 1,500 participants to New Dorp Beach Park on Staten Island, said Cyrus McGoldrick, spokesman for the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Organizers found uncooked bacon strewn about a small section of the park, New York City police said. Religious restrictions prohibit Muslims from eating pork products. "It's being investigated as a possible bias crime," a police spokeswoman said.

The incident was the latest in a spate of anti-Islamic sentiment in recent weeks. Earlier this month, a mysterious fire burned a mosque in Missouri, while in another instance a soda bottle filled with chemicals was thrown at a private Islamic school outside of Chicago.

In the southern California city of Chino on August 7, pig legs were thrown onto the site of a proposed mosque that has been a target of controversy. "It's anti-Islamic sentiment - a sign they don't want us to feel welcome," McGoldrick said.

What is it that makes Muslims feel so important? They seem to think that their religion is the only one that matters and that all must respect their beliefs. They can say what they want about anyone else's beliefs and murder innocent people because they disagree with them, but don't you dare say anything negative about their beliefs. They feel they have the right to retaliate in any manner they deem fit against any desentors, but you and i better tippy toe around them. Screw that and screw them. A stereotype is an assumption made about someone based on the actions of a few. It would not be stereotyping calling Muslims a violent and savage people, because this behavior is displayed by the majority of the followers. If so called "non-extremist" Muslims want folks to stop lumping them all into the violent category, then they should denounce the actions of the extremists. You won't see this happen because that would see them contradicting what is plainly written in the Koran. They would basically have to denounce certain parts of the Koran as false and we all know that ain't happening any time soon.

    ..

When Bacon is outlawed only outlaws will have bacon

    ..

Tacky ? Yes. Uncouth ? Yes. Hate Crime ? NO

    ..

The spreading of bacon is considered a hate crime but the murders at Fort Hood is considered work place anger. This would be funny if it were not so seriously flawed on so many levels. Political correctness is going to ruin this country if it hasn't already.

    ..

Didn't Muslims leave a bunch of tiny human body parts all over lower Manhattan? Would that be called a "hate" crime too? Then they have the nerve to build a Mosque near by. If they had their way it would have been right on top of ground zero. Tell me that's not a shot across the bow.

    ..

a crucifix in a jar of urine is "art", elephant dung on the virgin mary statue is "art", a piece of bacon is a "hate crime"

    ..

Good news is if it’s a hate crime no one got hurt. I think this should be classified as a protest more so then a hate crime.

    ..

Yet, muslim extremists would have no qualms about using a suicide bomber to scatter pieces of Kevin Bacon all over the same park.

    ..

I went into a 7-11 that was owned by muslims, and guess what, they had pork rinds on the shelf. omg, is this a hate crime done by frito lay?

    ..

It is a PUBLIC park in NYC. I'd worry more about the used condoms and needles than a little bit of bacon. HATE CRIME? Sounds more like littering to me. If they want a "pure" environment, celebrate in the mosque, on their private land.

    ..

amazing , only in the so called media, shootings are not hate crimes, even though he brought the CFA sandwiches, but Bacon is somehow a hate crime....when it hits the fan, please remember folks to go after the media peeps...they are the creators..

Poll shows zero percent African-American support for Romney; Black conservatives speak up

    Go read. I can't post because somewhere in the article is a "censored word". No idea WHAT that word might be - there were no curse words - and the program tosses out words such as "a - v - e - r - y" and "s - e - a - s - h - e - l - l -s " as "censored"

Police Accuse Nebraska Woman of Faking Anti-Gay Hate Crime
By CHRISTINA NG | ABC News – 23 hrs ago

A Nebraska woman was arrested for faking an anti-gay hate crime in which she claimed three masked men bound her, cut words into her skin and spray-painted slurs on her wall before setting her house on fire.

Charlie Rogers, 33, had told police that the three assailants broke into her Lincoln, Neb., home on July 22. Rogers, a lesbian and a former University of Nebraska women's basketball star, became a face for anti-gay hate crimes after the alleged attack. Reports of the alleged assault outraged the gay community, and hundreds of people participated in rallies outside the Nebraska capitol building, and at a park in Omaha.

But now police have charged Rogers with false reporting, disclosing evidence that contradicts her story and points to a faked attack. Police found white gloves, a box cutter and zip ties in Rogers' home. She had originally told investigators that the gloves were the only item left behind by her attackers, and that they did not belong to her. Lincoln police learned that Rogers had visited Ace Hardware in LIncoln on July 17 and purchased the same three items. When confronted about the supplies, Rogers admitted to buying all of them except the gloves, which she said were not hers, according to police.

But DNA evidence suggested otherwise. "The University of Nebraska Medical Center found DNA evidence that matched Ms. Rogers' inside the gloves that were left at the scene of the crime," Lincoln Police Chief Jim Peschong said at a news conference Tuesday. "There were no male DNA markers found inside the gloves," he said.

Peschong said that Rogers had no explanation for why her DNA would be in the gloves. The day after her visit to the hardware store, Rogers posted the following message on her Facebook page: "So maybe I am too idealistic, but I believe way deep inside me that we can make things better for everyone. I will be a catalyst. I will do what it takes. I will. Watch me."

Peschong also said that the circumstances surrounding the cuts on Rogers' body aroused suspicion. "The cuttings on Mr. Rogers arms were either self-inflicted or she had allowed someone to do them," he said. "The lines were too straight to be accomplished during a struggle, and ... the cuts were all in areas where the victim could have inflicted them herself."

The cuts produced some blood, Peschong said, but that investigators found no blood on Rogers' bedspread. He also said that Rogers had told police that her two dogs were passive during the alleged attack, but Peschong said that the dogs were "fairly aggressive" toward officers investigating the scene.

Police arrested Rogers on Tuesday afternoon and charged her with false reporting. She pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance, or in lieu of bail. Rogers' attorney, Brett McArthur, did not respond to a request from ABC News for comment today but told the Associated Press that Rogers maintains the attack occurred and will be defending herself. "This has been a very traumatic event for her, and having the focus of the investigation turn toward her has been really hard," McArthur told the AP. "She has no reason to lie about what happened. She's pretty devastated, when you go to authorities and things kind of get turned around on you."

Peschong said that the case would not affect the police department's trust in crime victims. "Criminal incidents, especially hate crimes, are unique and viewed as such," he said. "We do not want crime victims to hesitate reporting crimes in the future."

Rogers' next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 14. The false reporting charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $1000 fine.

I hope she gets the mental help she needs. She not only wasted everybody's time, but increased the tensions on both sides of the Gay issues there. Personally I don't see why there are issues if everybody would just mind their own business. What two people want to do that doesn't affect anybody else, is their business.

    ..

She is not going to find too many friends in the LGBT community after that stunt. Kind of like women who are found out to have lied about being r@ped. Every time one is found out, it sets things back several steps. Now if it happens for real somewhere, a lot of people are going to believe it was made up.

If she is convicted, I would say put her in jail for the maximum allowed. The consequences of doing something like that needs to cost them a LOT.

    ..

This was obvious from the start: she said that the attackers "spray-painted slurs on her wall before setting her house on fire."
Who paints slurs on the wall of a house that you are about to burn down?

Of course, despite the obvious evidence it was a hoax, I got called names for not believing her.

    ..

more importantly - who spray paints the walls in the basement of a house they intend to burn to the ground

    ..

She wasted the time of the police with her little stunt, they could have been out doing their jobs rather than dealing with her. Had they arrested someone using her description, then that innocent person might be facing felony charges. No matter how you look at it, this was dumb and she needs some kind of punishment.

Not to mention that it is now the 3rd fake attack on lesbians in the last 4 months.

I Await The Obama Administration’s Voiced Outrage
By drillanwr, on September 21, 2012, at 3:00 pm

As a show of their religious tolerance, http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/art_...ysXZ3eQg6U6n1H a NYC gallery will display Andres Serrano’s 1989 "Piss Christ" http://iconicphotos.wordpress.com/20...1/piss-christ/ and for some reason the gallery will be beefing up security...

The controversial “Piss Christ” artwork Sen. Alfonse D’Amato once branded as a “deplorable, despicable display of vulgarity,” is coming to New York, and security is being heavily ramped- up at the gallery that will show the piece.

Andres Serrano’s work — a “photograph of the crucifix submerged in the artist’s urine” — first ignited controversy in 1989 when D’Amato complained to the US Senate that it was an “outrage,” an “indignity” and a “piece of trash” that had been funded by taxpayers. Serrano had won a $15,000 prize for his work, backed in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

But the piece — which will be on display as part of a retrospective of the New York artist’s work at Edward Tyler Nahem gallery beginning Thursday — is still causing controversy over two decades later.

On Palm Sunday last year, 1,000 protesters marched outside a French gallery showing “Piss Christ,” and the piece was attacked by hammer-toting vandals while gallery workers received death threats. The piece — there are 10 prints — has also been vandalized at the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia and in Sweden.

But Serrano told us he’s not expecting trouble in his hometown of New York. “It’s not going to receive the same attention,” he said, adding that the French attack “destroyed” the piece, but, “It transformed ‘Piss Christ’ into something else. It’s mounted on plexiglass, and it looked like they’d attacked Christ. The marks were all around the face.”

A rep for the Midtown gallery confirmed it was beefing up security in anticipation of protests, but wouldn’t elaborate further.

Serrano is working on a book of 400 photographs recently shot in Cuba, where his mother was born. “It’s about time we talked about Cuba,” he said, calling the US embargo “horrendous.”

The Obama administration has spent at least $70,000 to produce and run TV ads in Pakistan denouncing Mohammed movie http://hotair.com/archives/2012/09/2...ohammed-movie/ ... which appear to be getting the expected bang for the taxpayer bucks. http://weaselzippers.us/2012/09/21/p...inema-torched/ I don't look for them to do the same in regards to this. In general, outside the attack in France, Christians/Catholics do not riot because we believe in personal responsibility for your own soul, and expect the comeuppance for the workers of such trash comes after this life. And I am certain that fair and balanced U.N.H.R.C. will be as severe in their condemnation of this blasphemy against Christianity to be displayed in their general area. http://www.thenewage.co.za/63052-102...responsible_UN

Meanwhile a Danish Mohammed cartoonist Kurt Westergaard is urging the West to stick by our free speech guns.

this Serrano a-hole's entire career rests on this totally transparent ploy to get attention and "progressive" or "transgressive" brownie points by substituting shock value for artistic talent. Beyond pathetic.

    ..

but of course, to a proper liberal/leftist, Serrano is a total hero, full of courage and laudable convictions, or something. And people who react violently to his, you know, masterpiece, cannot possibly be "understood" or sympathized with. It's not like they're Muslims or anything.

    ..

Serrano, for your viewing pleasure; ahem:
