Foreign officials shower Obamas with gifts
By Rachel Rose Hartman
Foreign officials typically shower Barack and Michelle Obama with all manner of keepsakes at state meetings in Washington and abroad. Fancy jewels, artwork, jackets, gold watches, and portraits upon portraits of themselves in any medium imaginable -- the first couple sees it all.
The State Department this week released the catalog of foreign gifts (PDF) that were bestowed on the Obamas and other U.S. officials in 2009. Gifts for the Obamas included an $8,000 bronze statue of a girl releasing doves, from Israel's President Shimon Peres; a $1,200 porcelain statue of oxen, from Chinese President Hu Jintao (who is visiting the United States this week); a $14,200 silver and pearl necklace, from Abdullah bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia; and a $6,000 crystal table containing an image of the American flag, from Italy's Silvio Berlusconi.
The gifts are a longstanding state tradition, meant to mark the friendly meeting of world leaders and the countries they represent.
George W. and Laura Bush received similar items during Bush's tenure in the White House, including decorative items, pieces of clothing, and books -- as well as some more unique presents (fertilizer and a sniper rifle, for example.)
Foreign leaders often choose gifts of significance to their home country, such as Ireland Prime Minister Brian Cowen's gift of a shamrock to the Obamas last year, pictured above. Other presents are meant to symbolize a country's special relationship with the United States. Still others are delivered in the same spirit that we political civilians give a gift: out of the simple belief that the recipients will enjoy it.
But the Obamas, like the first couples before them, are unlikely ever to make any pleasurable private use of their luxurious presents.
Refusing these gifts would be rude or embarrassing to the donor, so U.S. officials accept them. They then immediately hand the items over to the Gift Unit in the Office of Protocol, where administrators decide where the gifts will be placed.
The 2009 gift list notes that nearly all of the first family's presents from that year have been placed in the U.S. Foreign Archives -- with a select few edible gifts entrusted to the care of the Secret Service.
Of course, it would also be rude if American presidents didn't reciprocate the thoughtful gestures of foreign dignitaries with gifts of their own. Much of this fare is also fairly unexceptional -- jewelry and portraiture and the like. So the gifts that stand out in public memory are typically the simplest, or oddest, remembrances:
• Obama famously presented Queen Elizabeth with an iPod loaded with Broadway show tunes in 2009.
• Earlier that year, Obama gave British Prime Minister Gordon Brown a keepsake that was widely panned -- a boxed set of 25 DVDs that weren't even formatted to work in British DVD players.
• President George W. Bush handed over a crate of Juicy Fruit gum and an Elvis jukebox to Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in 2006.
• President Bill Clinton gave French President Jacques Chirac a teleprompter in 1996.

Lacking Brains
Posted by Judson Phillips on September 4, 2012
The media always tells us the Democrat President or candidate, is the most intelligent we have ever seen. How is it people who are allegedly so smart are always so wrong?
Barack Obama is doing things now that endanger America. Our founding fathers understood him even if they did not know him.
What is he doing and how did our founding fathers warn us about him?
Benjamin Franklin warned us about someone like Barack Obama. He said, “Tricks and treachery are the practice of fools, that don't have brains enough to be honest. “
How does this apply to Obama?
Obama is helping our enemies and stabbing our friends in the back. This is nothing new for Obama, who has been doing this since he came into office.
Israel’s newspaper Yediot Ahronot has reported that the Obama Regime has sent a message to Iran. If Israel strikes Iran, America will not support Israel. Obama begs Iran that if Israel does strike Iran, all Iran do is not hit American targets in the Middle East.
When you couple this report with the statements of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and political hack Martin Dempsey that he would not be complicit in an Israeli attack, you have a pretty solid message there.
Israel is on its on in the Middle East against Iran.
Can we say appeasement?
Obama has been taking a wrecking ball to American foreign policy since January 2009. He double-crossed Poland and the Czech Republic when he reneged on a treaty the Bush Administration had worked out on missile defense.
He threw American allies such as Hosni Mubarak under the bus. When he had the chance to help dissidents in Iran he simply ignored them.
He helped create the Islamist Spring in the Middle East. It is not the Arab spring because it is the Islamists that benefited from the revolution all across the Middle East.
Now, he is appeasing Iran.
Since 1979, Iran has been the focus of evil in the modern world. They have sponsored terrorism directed against America and Israel. The Iranian leadership believes they must cause mayhem in order to bring about the Islamic equivalent of the second coming.
Barack Obama believes he can negotiate with these people?
All Obama is doing is flashing a big green light to the Islamist nut jobs in the Middle East. America will not support Israel so it is open season on Israel.
In his book, the Audacity of Hope, subtitled, my ego is bigger than the State of Illinois; Obama warned us this day would happen. He views the world through his Marxist vision. America is bad. Anything that advances American interests is bad. Israel, because it is Jewish state is also bad. Islamists are good because they fight against western imperialism. Obama said, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
What is ugly to Obama? Apparently his definition of beautiful is making sure that Iran has the ability to threaten the rest of the world with nuclear weapons. Obama’s goal seems to be to make certain that Iran gets nuclear weapons.
If Obama came out and said he was all for Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, he would not do anything differently than he has done in his “opposition.” He released information about Israel’s plans to try and stop Iran. He has dithered around with “diplomacy” which has accomplished nothing except allow Iran to try and run the clock out.
Obama wants to see a diminished America. He doesn’t like super-powers, because it wouldn’t be “fair” to the rest of the world. All nations should be equal in his socialist eyes.
A nuclear Iran will make that dream come true because America will be forced to confront Iran at the risk of a nuclear weapon. Given Iran’s penchant for using proxies, giving Iran the bomb is a golden invitation for nuclear terrorism.
Israel is not America.
America must be our priority. A nuclear-armed Iran is not in America’s best interest. Israel stopping Iran is in our best interest.
Barack Obama undermining Israel’s efforts to stop Iran is not in America’s best interest.
But then again, when has Barack Obama put the interests of America first?

Sigh, you like many Americans dont see the true goal of Obama. He is not dumb, What he is doing is exactly his philosophy. Go see Dinesh's movie 2016 and you will understand that everything Obama does that is destructive to this country is deliberate and is a part of his philosophy. The only brainless things I see is his belief that colonialism is the cause for poverty in Africa and other places, and that Communism like policies is the answer. He is a fool not to see the clear evidence that those beliefs are destructive to the countries that adopt them, he is a narcissist so he does not care how badly these policies will hurt his own family, supporters and racial brethren. He blames their suffering on others not on the bad policies he supports. If he is a fool its because of that. Look at how his own family in Kenya are struggling and as rich as he is, he has done nothing to help them.
..
Obama is toast now. Check out the new Chuck Norris video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ud3p...e=player_detai...
I couldn't agree more.
..
Never. he is doing foreign policies same as home polices. Divide everyone. Isn't it funny we help out Egypt (a country we could count on in the middle east) Obama had to help them and now we can't, depend on them. Libya, Obama helps(with out congress the not war-, war. we had Qaddafi (He knew not to mess with USA) What do we have in Libya now? Iran has a million marching in the streets we can't help ..Why? Because their government is already against USA and Israel don't need a regime change there. Syria, 20000 civilians dead but Obama won't help because the dictator there is already anti- American and Anti- Israelis and allies with Iran and Russia. He is dividing us from our allies by sending signal to American Allies that we don't have your backs and if you are anti- American you don't have to worry. All in the name of leveling the playing field. make everyone poor, divided, and easy to control.
US Tells Iran: We will NOT Join Israeli Attack
Yediot Achronot, one of Israel’s most widely circulated newspapers, reported that the United States has indirectly informed Iran, via two European nations, that it would not back an Israeli strike against the country’s nuclear facilities, as long as Tehran refrains from attacking American interests in the Persian Gulf.”
The report says that the U.S. seeks to avoid being attacked by Iran at its military bases throughout the Persian Gulf.
David Sanger and Eric Schmitt of The New York Times believe that “the question of how explicit Mr. Obama’s warnings to Iran should be is still a subject of internal debate, closely tied to election-year politics. Some of Mr. Obama’s advisers have argued that Israel needs a stronger public assurance that he is willing to take military action, well before Iran actually acquired a weapon. But other senior officials have argued that Israel is trying to corner Mr. Obama into a military commitment that he does not yet need to make.”
In response to “cornering” the United States, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told his cabinet “I believe that the truth must be told…. The international community is not setting a clear red line, and Iran does not see international determination to stop its nuclear program….” (Jerusalem Post).

Obama denies snubbing Netanyahu amid chill
By Olivier Knox, Yahoo! News | The Ticket – 15 hrs ago.
Obama meets Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN in 2011. (Reuters)
UPDATE 9:32 p.m. EDT: The White House denied late Tuesday that President Barack Obama had snubbed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by rejecting his request for a meeting when he comes to the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York in late September. A spokesman confirmed an Israeli news reports that the two leaders would not meet but cited the president's uncertain and hectic election-year schedule.
"Contrary to previous press reports, there was never any request for a meeting between the Prime Minister and President in Washington, nor was this request ever denied," U.S. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor told reporters by email.
(Obama and Netanyahu later spoke by telephone for an hour "as a part of their ongoing consultations," the White House said. "The two leaders discussed the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program, and our close cooperation on Iran and other security issues. President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu reaffirmed that they are united in their determination to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and agreed to continue their close consultations going forward," it said in a statement).
Vietor's comments and the conversation came after Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported that the White House had turned down a request for talks. Haaretz said Netanyahu had asked Obama for a meeting during his stay in the United States and expressed a willingness to come to Washington to do so. Earlier, when asked about that report, Vietor had said that the two leaders would not meet.
"The President arrives in New York for the UN on Monday, September 24 and departs on Tuesday, September 25. The Prime Minister doesn't arrive in New York until later in the week," Vietor said.
"They're simply not in the city at the same time. But the President and PM are in frequent contact and the PM will meet with other senior officials, including Secretary Clinton, during his visit."
The Haaretz report said the request was "declined" and that this "marks a new low" in relations between Obama and Netanyahu, who has publicly criticized Washington for not taking a harder line on Iran's nuclear program. (Still, Haaretz noted that "Netanyahu will spend only two and a half days on U.S. soil" and the White House "said that at this time Obama's schedule does not allow for a meeting.")
Mitt Romney has repeatedly accused Obama of shortchanging the relationship between the U.S. and Israel.
But a knowledgeable American official stressed it wasn't personal, saying Obama's schedule was in flux and emphasizing that he doesn't anticipate the president "will have any bilats [bilateral meetings with foreign leaders] at UNGA [the U.N. General Assembly] this year."
Still, Obama reportedly planned to appear on David Letterman on Sept. 18, the first day of the annual diplomatic gathering.
Republican Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham criticized Obama for not sitting down with Netanyahu, describing themselves as "surprised and disappointed."
"It is puzzling that the President can't make time to see the head of state of one of America's closest allies in the world," they said in a joint statement. "If these reports are true, the White House's decision sends a troubling signal to our ally Israel about America's commitment at this dangerous and challenging time, especially as Iran continues to work actively toward developing a nuclear weapons capability."

IMHO he has made it clear that he does not like Israel and even wanted Israel to go back to the 67 borders which would have put the whole state of Israel in the line of fire which would lead to the destruction of that state. When he was looking for donations from Jews he played his flip flop game in order to get more money. Now his true colors come out once again in his snub of Netanyahu. Is he is afraid of the Arabs? Does he prefer the Arab world over an ally to this country for decades? Maybe he was just too busy planning a visit to SNL or perhaps a round of golf or maybe a bedtime story for his daughters...... The picture I get is if this is how he treats his friends, then I sure would not want him as a friend.

“US-commanded MFO in Sinai under attack — dead reported in compound”
From Caroline Glick: http://www.carolineglick.com/e/2012/...sinai-unde.php
Quote:
Israel media - Channel 2 – just reported that the US-commanded Multi-National Force Observors headquarters in the Sinai is under assault. Salafists laid seige to the building this afternoon and some 50 armed men stormed it. There is fighting going on in the building and there are dead inside. The MFO is the force that was established under the Israel-Egypt peace treaty. It is charged with guaranteeing the demilitarization of the Sinai.
The MFO has two bases. I believe that the one under attack is in northern Sinai, built on an old Israeli Air Force base.
The MFO has come under attack several times since the outset of the US-supported Islamic revolution there. The US approved and forced Israel to accept the deployment of Egyptian tanks in the Sinai some weeks ago as part of a much touted counterterror offensive of the Egyptian military. Its results were inconclusive but at Israel’s insistence, the tanks were removed a couple weeks ago. Egyptian President Morsi supports the remilitarization of the Sinai. It is hard not to see the strategic implications of this attack on the MFO.
Probably a bunch of lies put out by that billionaire Sheldon Whatshisface. “Sheldon” sounds very Jew, after all, doesn’t it? So I wouldn’t put too much stock in reports like these. Just send Barack Obama your beer and pizza money and he’ll make all the unsettling noises go away — and let you get back to your XBox and your reality TV.
Hope and Change! Forward!

Shocking: U.S. Ambassador to the U.N Blew Off Netanyahu’s UN Speech (Video)
September, 28, 2012 — nicedeb
The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Susan Rice, who found time to go on five different Sunday talk shows a week ago to lie about the Benghazi attack, blew off the Israeli Ambassador Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday at the U.N. General Assembly in New York City. She decided to have lunch with Hillary and some foreign ministers rather than listen to his boring ol’ speech about containing Iranian nukes..
Greta van Susteren had John Bolton on her show, On the Record, last night to discuss the slight. http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/on-the-record/index.html

The CNN blog is reporting that Romney and Obama will speak with Netanyahu, Friday:
President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will separately speak on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...ith-netanyahu/
Quote:
The conversations come one day after the Israeli leader made a definitive statement at the United Nations General Assembly Thursday, urging the international community to draw a “clear red line” with Iran over its suspected nuclear development program.
Obama could easily have made room in his schedule to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, yesterday, as he only had one campaign event in Virginia Beach, Virginia, scheduled.
Keith Koffler reported yesterday, that the trip would only take a few hours out of his day, but he delegated the meeting with Netanyahu to Clinton instead. http://www.whitehousedossier.com/201...irginia-today/
Well, at least the Prime Minister, whose country may soon be going to war with Iran, rates a phone call from the busy campaigner in Chief. But I strongly suspect he only scheduled the phone call after he heard Romney would be speaking to him by phone.Quote:
Others who have found room in their schedule to meet with Netanyahu are Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper – who recently threw all of Iran’s diplomats out of his country – and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The White House, which has been under fire for ducking Netanyahu, has not ruled out a meeting, and may in the end bow to pressure to schedule one. Netanyahu is in the United States until Saturday night.

Jews should not vote for Obama - it is quite obvious what he thinks of them. he wants their money and their vote but he doesn't want the state of Israel to exist. The state of Israel was established when Hitler tried to exterminate them and out of guilt the Jews were returned to their original homeland and their own country was established.
Obama, as the representative of this country, has the responsibility to keep communications open to all heads of state of which Netanyahu is. He has met with the muslim brotherhood, had time to go on The View, played golf etc but can't take the time for the representative of Israel which has been an ally of the US and has accommodated this country. His true colors are showing and if I were a head of state of any country, I would tell the US to get lost because they can not be trusted. O has to be voted out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An Obama Administration official referred to Prime Minister Netanyahu as “chickensh**t.”
We LIKE Prime Minister Netanyahu’s response “I was personally attacked purely because I defend Israel, and despite all the attacks against me, I will continue to defend our country, I will continue to defend the citizens of Israel.”
...
An alleged comment by a senior Obama administration official calling Prime Minister Netanyahu “chickens**t” has infuriated supporters of the Jewish State.
In a column that appeared on Tuesday, October 28 – titled, The Crisis In U.S.-Israel Relations Is Officially Here – Jeffrey Goldberg, national correspondent for The Atlantic, wrote:
“The other day I was talking to a senior Obama administration official about the foreign leader who seems to frustrate the White House and the State Department the most. ‘The thing about Bibi is, he’s a chickens**t,’ this official said, referring to the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, by his nickname.
“This comment is representative of the gloves-off manner in which American and Israeli officials now talk about each other behind closed doors, and is yet another sign that relations between the Obama and Netanyahu governments have moved toward a full-blown crisis,” Goldberg added.
Reacting the same day, Economy Minister Naftali Bennett issued the following statement on Facebook:
Cursing Netanyahu is an Insult to Israelis and JewsQuote:
“Israel is stronger than all of its defamers.”
“The Prime Minister of Israel is not a private person,” Bennett continued. “He is the leader of the Jewish State and the entire Jewish people. Cursing the prime minister and calling him names is an insult not just to him but to the millions of Israeli citizens and Jews across the globe.
“The leader of Syria who slaughtered 150,000 people was not awarded the name ‘chickens**t.’ Neither was the leader of Saudi Arabia who stones women and homosexuals or the leader of Iran who murders freedom protestors.
“If what appears in the press is true, then it seems that the current US administration is throwing Israel under the bus.”
Israel Leads Global War on Terror
“Israel is the only democratic state in the Middle East and has been fighting 66 years to survive. Israel is at the forefront of the free world’s fight against the Islamic terror of ISIS, Hezbollah, Hamas and Iran. Instead of attacking Israel and putting it at risk, the world should be strengthening and supporting it.
“I call on the US administration to immediately reject these gross comments,” Bennett concluded.
In his article Goldberg blamed the Israeli leader for the seemingly increasing crisis in Israeli-U.S. relations. According to Goldberg, “the fault for this breakdown in relations can be assigned in good part to the junior partner in the relationship, Netanyahu, and in particular, to the behavior of his cabinet…. For their part, Obama administration officials express, in the words of one official, a ‘red-hot anger’ at Netanyahu for pursuing settlement policies on the West Bank [Judea and Samaria] and building policies in Jerusalem, that they believe have fatally undermined Secretary of State John Kerry’s peace process.
“Over the years, Obama administration officials have described Netanyahu to me as recalcitrant, myopic, reactionary, obtuse, blustering, pompous, and “Aspergery.” (These are verbatim descriptions; I keep a running list.). But I had not previously heard Netanyahu described as a chickens**t.”
Joel Pollak, senior editor-at-large, Breitbart.com, noted that Goldberg “admits that ‘Jews have a moral right to live anywhere they want in Jerusalem,’ and understands that the areas of Jerusalem that have irked Obama are hardly ‘settlements,’ yet he still says Bibi is to blame for building there….
“Nowhere in Goldberg’s article is there any acknowledgment that Gaza rockets, Hamas tunnels, and Fatah/PA incitement are what have made a Palestinian state in the West Bank unthinkable, for the moment, to the vast majority of Israelis. Nor is there any admission that Obama – and Vice-President Joe Biden, and Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and John Kerry – have inflamed relations by publicly berating Israel on various occasions.”
Netanyahu: ‘I Will Continue to Defend our Country’
President Reuven Rivlin, in Poland on a state visit, told IDF Radio: “Construction is not a provocation. If it is carried out as a provocation and as a payback of some sort for a terror act, it is forbidden. We came to settle in our land, and we simply have to make clear to the world that we are building in places that we shall never abandon.”
Speaking to the Knesset Wednesday morning, Netanyahu said: “I was personally attacked purely because I defend Israel, and despite all the attacks against me, I will continue to defend our country, I will continue to defend the citizens of Israel.
“I respect and appreciate the deep ties with the United States we’ve had since the establishment of the state,” he added. “We’ve had arguments before,” but there remains a “deep connection between our peoples and our countries.”
“The unrestrained criticism of Israel and its leader attributed to officials in the White House have crossed all lines,” Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein said in his opening remarks to the the Knesset on Wednesday.
Sources in the Prime Minister’s Office reportedly asserted:
http://unitedwithisrael.org/senior-u...-vulgar-terms/Quote:
“Netanyahu will continue to uphold the security interests of the citizens of Israel and the historical rights of the Jewish people in Jerusalem. No pressure will change that.”
