    Stimulus Watch

Got this in an email and thought I would share:

    http://www.stimuluswatch.org/project/by_state

Click on your state to see some of the projects included in this bill. I found it to be very interesting and informative. Also you can see that a lot of city's & towns are not listed. I wonder if the leaders of the missing city's and towns are just "not on the ball" so to speak and did not submit a wish list

    Thumbs down Stimulus Watch

It is nice to see that Michigan has so many projects, I think I saw 786 projects, but none of them are even in the northern or western part of the state. I would have liked to see new projects offered to every city, not just the ones near or around the capitol.

I'd like to see some of those monies that are sent to our town (if any!) I live in the NW part of the lower. And we can use some extra because plans are in gear for some Major roadwork this spring.

I actually expected Detroit to get more than everyone else but I see that Dearborn got quite a bit.

25% of ours is a bunch of useless BS! Here are examples:
Recreation Trails Des Moines IA 6 $2,000,000 CDBG
New Sidewalks Des Moines IA 6 $1,200,000 CDBG
I mean at a time when money should be spent intelligentally they are going to update or add new bike trails. WTF?
Sidewalks I can see a few repairs but not now million in one freaking city!!
And they say its going to add jobs. I'm sorry these are already repair type jobs people already have. Like sidewalks city workers do. They won't hire more. It will just give the money to get the work done they were wondering where they were going to get it from or were putting it off doing anyway!!
All I can tell they are doing is just dolling out the dough the states need to do the repairs they may have been putting off.

Phoenix has had to put off a lot of city repairs because they can't afford to hire enough employees to do the work. With this money they can hire more people and get it done. Even the road crews are understaffed right now as there have been layoffs. So this money can get these things fixed, add more people to the work force and the money they spend on materials etc will benefit local businesses.

I noticed that San Francisco got over a billion just for that city.

    Psshttt... Nahsville's not getting anything.
We need improvements here too, not just jobs, but roads, schools, law enforcement, etc...

Maine only has TWO cities receiving help. 72 projects, but only 2 cities benefitting. Both are near where I live, but the town of Brunswick is going to need some help very soon when the naval air station closes. Also, the town where my sister lives in far Northern Maine, near Canada is so bad off right now, everything is closing--department stores, restaurants, etc. What a shame!

They FIRST have to finish the highway to Vegas from CA. That comes before any infrastructure gets done. How are people going to gamble with what money they have left if they don't have that highway?

Our neck of the woods didn't get anything but not many voted for BO around here.

Most of the money we are getting(not my town specifically but close) is for water projects and park trails. I know fixing things means you have to hire more people and I guess thats what they were thinking but??? New trails? Theres nothing wrong with the water here? Makes no sense but hey when does our fine fine gov. make any sense?

It was interesting though so thanks for sharing!
