Oh I agree my children do not watch television. Even too many or certain types of cartoons. I am all for parents being parents. No one is going to think anyone is a 'square' because they don't let thier kids watch television. The little rating at the top left of the screen along with the subcontext (L,V,S,N) are there for your use. There are still wholsome television programs for families to watch.
But do not depend on television...read a book, make arts and crafts do somethign different.

If TV & movies don't influence people, why it there such a big hoopla over smoking nowadays? They won't allow cigs to be smoked during prime time viewing & they are not allowing it to take place in movies anymore, either. Plus, when was the last time you saw a commercial for Marlboro on TV?
So, what I am getting at is how some feel it is okay to continue the push of the gay agenda because they will say 'its real life' well guess what????? People really do some cigs too. Why is it that SOME real life issues are okay while others are not. Remember the diease, AIDS? Well, it comes from homosexual lifestyles (among other choices) & it is deadly so why are people pushing a lifestyle, on TV, that can become a deadly lifestyle????

Your right. I guess I am very lucky I didn't "catch the gay" while watching Will and Grace.
AIDS is from having unprotected sex, with ANYONE. Not just gay people.

Well, since NO ONE in this thread called anyone stupid, I assumed it was me you were referring to since I am the one who finds opposition to actual reality on television to be ridiculous.
I did not ASSUME that "he" feels one way or another. If i did, I would have said, "It's obvious that he feels..." Instead I said it "sounds like he feels" which clearly is an interjection of my OPINION.

I have some very good friends who are "gay", male and female. Being gay does not offend me in any way. I do think that the way they are portrayed in some TV shows is a bit over the top. When I was reading who was all going to be on the TV show "Survivor" this season, all the pictures and names and occupations were there but by the one man, by his occupation was Gay Lawyer. I mean so what if he is gay, why was he singled out. I really do not know of any Gay people who prance, giggle or swish around. I mean, the ones I know are normal acting people, not the silly way they are done on TV. Just because someone is Gay does not mean he/she has to be portrayed any differently than anyone else. It seems like many of the sitcom's have to have a gay person on there, and in my opinion only, make them look like fools.

I agree to a point. It is unnecessary to label people by their orientation ("Gay Lawyer"). I certainly don't want or need to be labeled as a "Straight Teacher." lol
I agree that a lot of gay portrayals on tv are not accurate and they tend to focus on the more flamboyant gay people (men, specifically). Jack on Will & Grace is a good example (and was hilarious). Will was probably a little closer to accurate, I guess. It must be difficult to do, though, since all people (gay and straight) are different and act in different ways...

I don't think anyone is actually saying that watching "Will & Grace" will make people gay.
It WILL however make homosexuality appear acceptable to some and cool to others.
This is actually part and parcel of the "Gay Agenda", they KNOW full well that the first step to acceptance is comedy.
What people laugh at they no longer fear or think of as dangerous and/or inappropriate.
ANY sex outside of marriage is wrong. That is why we have the explosion of disease out there.
HIV does affect all categories of sexually active peoples but it also DOES affect homosexual males disproportionately.
What about GBS (Gay Bowel Syndrome) though the name has been changed so as to deny the fact that it usually is found only in sexually active gay males.

this is true. some people refuse to believe it. why, i don't know? it seems as people just want so badly for homosexuality to be accepted and will deny facts to support their cause or agenda.

I understand you concern. Television is changing. What was popular in your youth no longer exisits. The standards have changed. Th e television programing that used to be on (leave it to beaver, my three sons, father knows best) that was trying desperately to show society what they should be doing in the modern American family is gone.
It wasn't relevant anymore.
Life wasn't that simple.
June didn't live under "the rule of thumb".
Robert Young didn't walk around in a wife beater sipping beer from a can.
Television was supposed to reflect real life...it was a crock.
Television used to be an escape...it still can be.
But when televieion does rear it's ugly head and show us just what society is made of it can be frightening. I understand.
So protect your children and yourself. Change the channel or better yet hide the remote. (a good channel blocker would work too)
Life can be beautiful and ugly. And three feet from your couch.
But isn't TV supposed to be entertainment ? If you want "reality" you can watch Discovery and History and ... ESPN maybe.
I grew up watching "Leave It To Beaver" and the "Brady Bunch" and I desperately wanted to beleive that somewhere out there - there were families that were happy and "home" meant "safe". I grew up in an abusive alcholic atmosphere and "Little House" and "My Three Sons" was an unbelievale idea ... but one I needed to believe in.
What is wrong with having shows like "The Cosby Show" And "Eight is Enough" ? They dealt with "real life" in their stories too ... but it should have to be trash and smut 24/7 ? They used to reserve the more "daring shows" until 9 ... now they just show whatever ... when ever ... and if you are worried about your kids walking into the room and asking why "a melon has a surprised look on it's face? " ... then you are a prude.
Why do we have to lower all standards to the lowest common denominator ?
Why is it wrong to aspire to something better ?
Laissez les bon temps rouler!
Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.** a 4 day work week & sex slaves ~ I say Tyt for PRESIDENT!
Not to be taken internally, literally or seriously ....Suki ebaynni IS THAT BETTER ?
