2 killed, 30 wounded in weekend shootings across Chicago

    Written By Sun-Times Wire Posted: 12/12/2015, 01:00am

Two men were killed and at least 30 other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Friday night and Monday morning.

The latest homicide happened Sunday morning in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

Officers found 26-year-old Andre D. Donner Jr. with a gunshot wound to the head about 10 a.m. in the 7200 block of South May, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Donner was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died within the hour, police said. He lived in the 7000 block of South Lowe....

Chicago: democrats rule this place , it is the adopted home of Barack Hussein Obama, home to Bill Ayres, home to Rev. Wright, Jesse Jackson, Rahm Emmanuel, Nation of Islam founder, Farrakhan, and a huge communist teachers union rotten schools, and neighborhoods under siege. All these community organizers have organize this community into a dangerous one.

You notice that Black Lives Matter never go into those neighborhoods to tell the thugs to turn in their guns. The BLM thugs would rather hassle Christmas shoppers on Michigan Ave and attack a Chicago park Christmas tree.

    ..

Here's your 'NO-GUNs allowed' Democratic Peace Utopia at work. How do you like it so far? And if Obama gets our guns, All our cities will look like this.

    ..

Chicagodishu where blacks kill more blacks on a weekend than are killed by all the cops in the country combined. It's as if they are in a contest and playing catchup. Who knew a flag would cause this?

Six Dead in Chicago Mass Stabbing

    by AWR Hawkins ~ 4 Feb 2016

On February 4, Chicago Police Department officers discovered five adults and one child stabbed to death in a home in Chicago’s Gage Park.

Police found the bodies around 1:05 PM Thursday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the CPD sent officers to investigate after someone called police to say a “co-worker had not shown up for work Wednesday or Thursday.” When officers arrived to check on the missing co-worker, they looked through a window and saw “what they believed to be a body” inside the house. Upon entering the house, they found five adults and “a child 11 or 12 years old” — all apparent victims of a mass stabbing.

At least one neighbor told reporters she “knocked on the door Wednesday to get someone to move a van on the street but got no answer.” Others said the street has always been quiet. “No problems. No shootings. None of that.”

Police have marked off a crime scene one “block long and a block and a half wide.”

Vigil, protest held after Chicago cop fatally shoots 16-year-old boy
    By: Craig Wall
    April 12 2016 08:49PM CDT

There is outrage after Chicago police shot and killed a 16-year-old boy.

    http://www.fox32chicago.com/news/local/121528082-story#

In Homan Square on Monday night, police pulled over a car that was connected to an earlier shooting. Police say Pierre Loury jumped out and an officer chased him. Police say Loury then pointed a weapon at the officer and that is when he was shot. But a witness claims he saw officers "high five" each other after the teen was gunned down.

And now, protesters are demanding justice. A group held a vigil at the scene of the shooting and then marched onto the Eisenhower.

Even though the facts of this case are still far from clear, there are those on the side of Loury who claim this was not a justified shooting, despite what police say that he pointed a gun at an officer, and that the gun was recovered at the scene.

It threatened to turn ugly Tuesday night as protesters loudly and angrily confronted police in front of the station where the officers involved in the chase and shooting work. Police managed to keep order and move the protesters down the street.

Earlier, several hundred people marched down the alley to the spot where Loury was shot and killed as he ran from a police stop a block away. “We do believe that this individual turned and pointed the handgun at the officer the handgun was recovered at the scene where the young man was shot,” said 1st Deputy Supt. John Escalante.

Police radio transmissions captured the intensity of the moment, and a neighbor facing the alley posted a video on Facebook of the scene shortly after the chaotic moment.

Loury’s mother, overcome with emotion, joined the vigil as supporters chanted against police and in support of Loury.

“They gunned down one of our brothers, they executed him. 16 years old. 16 years old. He should be here right now,” one person said at the vigil.

Police say Loury was a documented gang member. He posted a picture of himself holding a handgun on his Facebook page. People who knew him, though, did not think he would have been carrying a gun Monday night.

CHICAGO -- A West Side mother is trying to come to terms with the shooting of her oldest child. Chicago police say Pierre Loury had a gun and pointed it at an officer, but his family doesn’t believe it.

Through her sobs and surrounded by grieving family members, Tambrasha Hudson insists her son wasn’t one of those kids who gets in trouble and carries a gun. She says he helped her take care of his four siblings, went to high school and sometimes hung out with friends. Sixteen-year-old Pierre Loury was shot to death by Chicago police Monday night. “My baby gone. I shouldn’t have to bury my child,” said Tambrasha Hudson. "My child’s supposed to bury me.”

Chicago police say the teenager was in a car about 7:30 last night that fit the description of a car involved in an earlier shooting. When they tried to stop the car, they say Loury ran. Police chased him and eventually, they say, Loury turned and pointed a handgun at the officer who then shot and killed him. Police say that gun was found at the scene.

Chicago police were scouring the North Lawndale and Homan Square neighborhoods looking for the driver of the car they pulled over. They say Loury was a documented gang member and had prior contact with police. His family says he wasn’t perfect but he didn’t need to die.

Deputy police superintendent John Escalante said the shooting is being investigated by the Independent Police Review authority. The camera and audio in the police car was working. How it will help the investigation is unclear.

The officer has been placed on desk duty for at least 30 days.

Loury’s family says they will not let this shooting quietly be brushed under the rug. They want more information and plan to make their voices heard. They plan to hold a vigil tonight where the teenager was shot in the 3400 block of Grenshaw Street

Chicago Gun Control Deaths vs. Iraq War Deaths Brilliantly Compared

It’s hard to comprehend. More people have died in Chicago from shootings than soldiers have died in the Iraq War over the same time period. And it’s all aided by the draconian gun laws of the Windy City.

Kimberly Morin reports that Chicago is a gun control addict’s haven, supposedly. The city has some of the strictest gun laws in the entire country.

Not surprisingly, Chicago has some of the highest rate of shootings in the entire country as well.

    Why?

Because innocent people aren’t allowed to defend themselves.

Because the problems in Chicago have little to do with gun control and everything to do with poverty, gangs and drugs but you’ll never see THOSE actual problems addressed.

    Why?

    Because Democrats built that.

Decades of single motherhood; sub-par schools and a complete sub-culture have created a situation in Chicago that has nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment or guns.

Yet what do the corrupt Chicago politicians always propose when these horrifying shooting statistics come out every single year? More gun control. They blame the guns not the criminals using them.

They continue to add draconian laws onto law-abiding citizens so they cannot protect themselves.

These Democrats (because they are always Democrats) never, NOT EVER, stop and think about what is the root of the problem in places like Chicago.

    Why?

Because their fingers would have to be pointed right back at themselves.

    Memorial Day Weekend in Chicago
    69 shot; nine dead
MSM focus on Cinti Zoo Gorilla

    May 31, 2016

By Peter Nickeas , Grace Wong , Alexandra Chachkevitch and Joe Mahr•Contact Reporters
    Chicago Tribune

    May 31, 2016, 3:51 PM

Just after midnight, in one of the last shootings of the Memorial Day weekend, two people pulled out guns and started firing in East Garfield Park.

The first call to police early Tuesday was for one person shot on Homan Avenue. Then a second victim. Then a third. Then someone walked into a hospital a few minutes later.

In all, 27 of the 69 people hit by gunfire over the weekend were shot in or near the Harrison District, one of the city's most violent and one of the most heavily patrolled by police.

So many people were shot there that Deputy Superintendent John Escalante promised Sunday to beef up patrols. Nine more people were shot there by early Tuesday.

The rest of the weekend shootings were scattered across Chicago. They happened as far north as West Rogers Park and northwest as Jefferson Park and as far south as the West Pullman neighborhood. The violence centered on the West Side, though. Seven of the shooting incidents on the West Side had more than one victim.

While the number of shootings was up from last year, the number of deaths was down. Last year, 12 people were killed and 44 wounded over the holiday weekend. This weekend, 13 more people were shot, but six fewer people were killed.

There were no shooting deaths for more than 48 hours starting late Saturday afternoon through late Monday.

The breakdown from the weekend is: Three people killed and 12 people wounded Friday afternoon through early Saturday; one person killed and 24 people wounded Saturday evening through early Sunday; 13 people wounded Sunday afternoon through early Monday; and 16 people shot Monday into early Tuesday, two of them fatally.

The holiday weekend was police Superintendent Eddie Johnson's first since Mayor Rahm Emanuel picked the veteran cop to lead the embattled department in late March. The department sought volunteers to work overtime over the weekend, although police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi did not release figures on how many officers worked. Instead of hiring more cops during a city budget crunch, Emanuel instead has relied heavily on overtime to try to tamp down violence.

The weekend shooting scenes played out from a gas station in Dunning on the Northwest Side to a narrow tree-lined street in the South Side's West Pullman neighborhood. Residents and passersby at times grabbed towels and ice packs to aid the wounded. Others tried to figure out if the victims were friends or loved ones.

Left mourning were family members, including those of Veronica Lopez. The 15-year-old was the youngest of the homicide victims, shot as she rode with two older men police identified as known gang members along Lake Shore Drive near Fullerton Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. One of the men also was hit but survived.

That afternoon, her mother, Diana Mercado, wept outside her family's home above a storefront in the Belmont Craigan neighborhood. She said she had begun planning to move with Veronica to Florida in a year because of the city's violence.

"Now they took my baby," she said.

Later that day, in the Lawndale neighborhood, the mother of another teen, Shequita Evans, walked up to a scene of a woman who was shot in the neck while driving down Lexington Avenue near Pulaski Road. Evans lamented that she had to get through "one more summer" until her 17-year-old could graduate high school and attend college outside the city.

At another scene in the Back of the Yards, a woman had to explain to a small boy how the loud pops they had heard weren't fireworks from the White Sox game. The boy smoothed the cape of a Superman doll as he asked officers if they had gotten the bad guys.

In addition to Veronica, the homicides included:

    • Mark Lindsey, 25, shot while sitting in a parked car in front of his mother's house in the 3700 block of West 75th Place in the Ashburn neighborhood around 11:20 p.m. Friday.

    • Garvin Whitmore, 27, shot in the head about 5:20 p.m. Saturday in the South Side's Fuller Park neighborhood. He was sitting in a car with his fiancee, Ashley Harrison, 26, who picked up a gun and fired warning shots in the air. She was charged with a felony.

    • Damien Cionzynski, 25, was shot by one of two men with whom he was arguing inside a BP gas station at Narragansett and Montrose avenues around 5:15 a.m. Saturday. Police have issued arrest warrants for two men.

    • James Taylor, 44, was shot in the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue. Taylor, of the 6500 block of South Ellis Avenue, was pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m. Monday at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He died from multiple gunshot wounds, the office determined following an autopsy Tuesday. Police were called to the scene and found Taylor unresponsive on the street, near a vehicle, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.

    • Johan Jean, 39, was shot in the 6400 block of North Rockwell Street. Jean, of the 100 block of Ashland Avenue in Evanston, was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office. He died from a gunshot wound to the neck, the office determined following an autopsy Tuesday. Jean was discovered unresponsive in a gangway, and police said he may have died in a domestic incident.

The tally doesn't count a woman run over on Lake Shore Drive early Sunday. Her boyfriend, who also was hit in traffic, told police they were fleeing a group of armed robbers, and detectives have located evidence of a group of men in the area.

By Tuesday morning, the tally of those shot in Chicago this year was around 1,500, according to data compiled by the Tribune, with at least 250 killed. By this time last year, 957 had been shot, with 164 killed.

So far, shootings are up more than 50 percent this year, although the pace of increased violence had slowed from earlier this year, when Chicago was on track to see shooting victims nearly double.

Chicago police have said the violence has been fueled by gang conflicts and a proliferation of guns, mixed with weak gun law enforcement. The department has blamed most of the violence on a core group of about 1,300 people whom they have used data analytics to pinpoint. The department has called them "strategic subjects."

It can be tougher to pinpoint exactly when that violence can explode, with spikes that can spring up on any warm weekend. Over Mother's Day weekend, more than 50 people were shot, eight fatally, in the most violent weekend in Chicago since September.

The 60 homicides this month have outpaced those in each of the previous three years in Chicago, according to Tribune data. By May 30, 2015, there had been 45 homicides, with 41 by the same date in 2014 and 47 in 2013.

Following are the other shootings from the last • Someone shot a 17-year-old boy about 10:35 a.m. in the 4800 block of West Monroe Street. Reports indicated the boy was outside when a black SUV drove by and someone fired shots, striking him twice in the hip, Lemmon said. The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

    Just in: 18 people shot; 6 fatally…

    June 19, 2016

Yes, it’s just another weekend in Barack Obama’s hometown of Chicago. Is there any outrage from the left? Is anyone clamoring for more gun control – even though Chicago has some of the strictest gun control in the nation? Is the media blaming the NRA for this calamity? Is anyone trying to find out the motives of the shooters? Explain away their angst because they were conflicted about their sexual orientation or were mentally unstable?

And where are the vigils being planned from Black Lives Matter?

Must have missed that … Al Sharpton must be busy this weekend, figuring out his taxes.

ABC7 reports, At least 18 people have been shot so far this weekend and six of those victims are dead.

Two security guards were called to a large outdoor party at a housing complex in the 1300 block of West Hastings. Someone started shooting and a 24-year-old man was shot in the back and killed. The two security guards were wounded.

Officers received a call of shots fired in the 4800 block of West Monroe in Austin just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday and found a 23-year-old man lying face down, police said. He was shot several times and was dead at the scene.

One man, 29, was shot in both thighs, his hand a forearm. The other man, 30, was shot in the hand. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital where their conditions stabilized, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not confirm the two most recent deaths Saturday morning.

Two men, both 19, were in a vehicle in the first block of South Springfield in West Garfield Park about 1:30 a.m. when they were shot, police said. One man was shot in the abdomen and was dead at the scene, police said. The other was shot in right leg and listed in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Late Friday, a man was fatally shot in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The 22-year-old was shot in the neck about 10:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Kirkland, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed both deaths but didn’t release additional details Saturday morning.

The weekend’s first fatal shooting occurred in West Englewood.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the head just after 9 p.m. by two males who approached the vehicle he was riding in, police said.

Police said the teen, identified by his mother as Melvin Cook, was pronounced dead at the scene, though the medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Police said the driver ran away from the vehicle after the shooting.

The most recent nonfatal shooting occurred on Lake Shore Drive in the Lake View neighborhood.

A 27-year-old man walked into Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the foot just before 5:30 a.m., police said. He told investigators he was shot in the 3200 block of North Lake Shore Drive.

His condition had stabilized Saturday morning, though additional details were not immediately available, police said.

Just another deadly, horrific weekend in Chicago. Move along. Nothing to see here.

It just seems like if Black Lives REALLY DO Matter, activists would be making a big deal about how this happens so often in Chicago and in other inner cities across the nation? If Black Lives REALLY DO Matter, why doesn’t the organization work hard to determine why this continues to occur. What social and economic conditions exist to generate this kind of behavior? What has contributed to the breakdown in the inner city civil society and in the families? Where are the parents? The faith leaders?

If this were white on black crime we wouldn’t hear the end of it. But it’s not. Frankly, this weekend was really no big whoop — of course it’s not over yet. Anyway, it can’t compare to this year’s Memorial Day weekend when 6 people were killed and at least 63 shot.

But if Black Lives REALLY DO Matter could you please explain why y’all keep shooting each other?
