    Obama's Acorn Problem

There is a new story out in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review about some questionable Obama campaign spending reports and Obama’s troubling ties to ACORN. Obama may well have used the Chicago Annenberg-Challenge to channel money to ACORN (and other radical groups of "community organizers"), few or none of whom had particular expertise in improving public education. This, I fear, may be one of the main reasons why the Chicago Annenberg Challenge failed to make any measurable improvement in Chicago’s public school system. Of course, I’ve already written about Obama’s ties to ACORN in "Inside Obama’s Acorn," and I’ve got much more on Obama’s questionable role in funneling money to ACORN in "Senator Stealth," my new piece in the print edition of NR. Obama’s early work for ACORN, his later Woods Fund help for ACORN, and his Annenberg role as a funder of local community organizers (who did a very poor job of improving education, the actual purpose of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge), and the role of all this in Obama’s political ambitions is one key thread connecting all these stories. So this is one key reason why I want to see those library records.

    ACORN Watch
    More voter fraudsters in Milwaukee

    August 22, 2008

The election shenanigans continue — funded with your tax dollars.

ACORN Watch takes you back to Milwaukee today, where more ACORN workers are under scrutiny for submitting bogus cards: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=785773

Milwaukee’s election chief on Wednesday turned 32 more voter registration workers in to the district attorney’s office for possible prosecution, saying they tried to submit falsified registration cards.

That brings to 39 the number of registration workers under scrutiny, and the number could grow, Election Commission Executive Director Sue Edman said. An organization warned the commission staff late Wednesday afternoon about some questionable cards in the latest batch collected by its workers, Edman said.

All of the workers targeted for investigation were paid employees of two liberal groups running voter registration drives, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and the Community Voters Project…

…Of the 32 ACORN workers referred Wednesday to Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf, Edman said:

    • Seventeen apparently filled out voter applications and then signed the cards themselves. That involved two to four cards in each case.

    • Twelve submitted cards for individuals who later told ACORN they never filled out an application. That involved one card in each case.

    • One submitted a card for a dead voter. That was the second such case; a Voters Project worker previously submitted a card for a deceased voter.

    • One was apparently making up driver’s license numbers for an unknown number of voters.

    • One submitted about a half-dozen applications for already-registered voters.
Voter fraud is a frequent topic of conversation in Wisconsin on local talk-radio shows - especially Milwaukee ones. The problem is they have the notorious Dem Jim Doyle as Governor and 1/2 of the State’s legislature is run by the Dems as well.

With those statistics - you think Voter ID will ever come to pass? Methinks not.

I have to show an ID to purchase a six pack of beer, to pick up a package at a UPS depot or to pay by check at local stores.

You’d think casting a vote for (arguably) the leader of the free world would require something more than my verbal ID.

Interesting point made recently by one of the talk-show hosts….

Wisconsin has ‘day-of-election’ registration - in other words, you can register at the polling place - no pre-registration required….
SO - why the need for ACORN or any other pre-registration group?

This is peanuts compared to what will happen.

Wisconsin has same day regisration, meaning they can register on election day. Voters who are transported in from Chicago, students who are registered in other states will vote, as they did in 2004. All it itakes is someone from the “community” to vouuch for them, that they really, really live there.

Its a website where several ex ACORN member went to give some inside tips to what is wrong at ACORN including criminal activity. Is just a blog so isnt a credible source but if the allegations on here are only partially true then ACORN is one very corrupt organization.

Left-wing, taxpayer-subsidized ACORN fraudsters have been infiltrating the public schools. Watch out: Your kid could be recruited to help assist and “organize” the “community” of homeless people, criminals, and illegal aliens signing up more dead people and fake people to vote for Obama.

    In the Hartford Courant: http://www.courant.com/community/new...,3741645.story

Jahneil McMahon long ago made up her mind about the presidential election. She connected with Barack Obama’s speeches, felt his experiences would help him understand her life in Hartford. She prefers his views on education, taxes and the mortgage crisis, issues she says particularly affect her city.

    Trouble is, she’s only 17.

Which is why, on Thursday morning, McMahon paced the aisles of the Hartford Public High School auditorium with a stack of voter registration forms and a handful of pens. She passed them out to her older schoolmates and monitored from the aisle as they filled them out. “If I could start helping now, maybe someone else’s voice can be symbolic of mine,” she said.

Although most attempts at registering young voters center on college campuses, a new national effort to reach out to an even wider group of young people is underway.

Because the majority of black and Latino 18- to 24-year-olds don’t attend college, researchers have warned that focusing voter registration efforts on college campuses risks missing out on half of the nation’s young people, particularly black and Latino youth.

“This is a population that has not been tapped,” said Sharon Patterson-Stallings, a member of the Hartford Board of Education and chairwoman of the North End United ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. “We have not really educated people about voting.”

Part rally, part voter registration drive and part lecture on the importance of voting, Thursday’s program at the high school’s Law and Government Academy was one of more than a dozen assemblies held this week at high schools in cities nationwide.

Elections Chief Asks For Voter Fraud Probe
    From The Herald Sun
    By Matthew E. Milliken
    September 19, 2008

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham official is asking state elections administrators to check approximately 80 voter registration forms for possible fraud.

Mike Ashe, Durham County’s elections director, said the forms were among about 4,000 submitted to his office over the past four to six weeks by a national left-wing group called Acorn, for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

“They will be turned over to the State Board of Elections for investigation and prosecution,” Ashe said of the questionable documents.

Most of the forms at issue bear one of six names. Ashe was not sure whether the people named existed or not.

Many of the papers are incomplete, which Ashe said is a nuisance, not a crime. But the group contains very different versions of what are purportedly the same person’s signatures.

Signing another person’s name on a voter registration form can result in up to 15 months in prison.

A woman who visited the elections office Wednesday said that Tamion Richardson of Buffalo Way had received a mailing stating that he had been registered to vote. The woman, who said she was Richardson’s mother, said he was 14 years old and ineligible to vote.

Also, elections officials have received calls from people saying they had received new voter registration cards with incorrect information.

GOP says voter registration groups employed felons
    By GREG J. BOROWSKI
    Posted: Oct. 2, 2008

An official with the Republican National Committee said Thursday that a group involved with voter registration drives in Milwaukee is “engaged in systematic fraud and attempts to undermine our electoral system.”

The comments came from Sean Cairncross, the party’s chief lawyer, during a conference call with reporters in the wake of a report that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) had hired at least seven felons as voter registration workers in the city.

The Journal Sentinel has reported on problems with voter registration cards submitted to the city by workers for the group and another liberal group, the Community Voters Project.

The newspaper reported on similar registration problems in 2004, which led to charges against some voter registration workers, as well as state reforms that bar groups from paying workers based on the number of signatures collected.

So far this year, Milwaukee election officials have referred to the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office 49 cases of people who submitted potentially fraudulent registration cards. In some cases, the groups flagged the problems for the city.

On Monday, a 21-year-old Community Voters Project worker became the first person charged with voter fraud in the matter. Authorities say they expect more charges, but note that charges will not be filed in all cases cited by the city.

This week, the Associated Press reported that ACORN had hired as voter registration workers in Milwaukee at least seven felons convicted of crimes including cocaine possession and robbery.

Carolyn Castore, state political director for the group, told the AP: “We have a lot of folks with felony records and, frankly, they need jobs.”

The staff of the state Government Accountability Board issued an opinion April 3 that convicted felons are not allowed to serve as registration workers.

The City of Milwaukee elections office was unaware of the opinion and interpreted state law in the area to apply only to those felons still on probation or parole.

ACORN interpreted the law the same way, Castore told the AP. Nowhere in materials provided by state election officials did it say that felons were barred from registering voters, she said.

The city will change its procedures, officials told the AP.

It is unclear if any of the seven felons are among the 49 individuals already referred to authorities.

In a statement, state Democratic Party chairman Joe Wineke accused Republicans of “fabricating stories about widespread voter fraud in attempts to scare voters and divert attention away from the financial crisis that marks the final verdict on the disastrous Bush-McCain economic policies.”

In the conference call, Cairncross cited other examples around the country where ACORN and its workers have faced investigations.

Notice how no one seems to care about this?

Obama and his campaign LOVE to talk up his "community organizer" experience, THIS is what he did! He may not have actually forged documents......

He DID however work to register the poor, minorities etc etc to further his OWN campaign. (so, working to get yourself IN the white house apparently now makes you qualified and experienced to be president?)

Sadly the crap that Acorn pulls is just part of a larger trend, (one state voting WAAY before everyone else, registering and casting votes for the dead, pushing for immigrants to vote, trying to get Felons to be allowed to vote again....

    This crap makes me SICK!

It's like the Dems KNOW they can't win without cheating!

Of course eventually when the Liberals have destroyed the traditional American family, pretty much EVERYONE will be voting Democrat.

    They won't know anything else.

I think they DO know. Why? Because they also know their "values" run against those of the American majority.Obviously, that small detail doesn't bother them.I remember a president who was villified for his underhanded endeavors, designed to get himself re-elected..His name is Richard Nixon.
Funny how the Democrats were "scandalized" by his behavior. Hell! They could have taught him a lot!

RM, that's a pretty generalized statement. Many of us felt that way about the Republicans in the 2000 election when the recount happened to be in GWB's brother was gov of FL.
I consider myself a liberal and KNOW that I have good family values as well as many of my friends and family and our children are turning out fine.

Obama directed Illinois' Project Vote from April to October 1992, a voter registration drive with a staff of ten and seven hundred volunteers; it achieved its goal of registering 150,000 of 400,000 unregistered African-Americans in the state, and led to Crain's Chicago Business naming Obama to its 1993 list of "40 under Forty" powers to be

I won't argue the whole Florida thing...OLD news.

Thanks though, for pointing out EXACTLY what I was alluding to before.

So, Obama "gets out the vote" by registering SCORES of African Americans.

WAAY to go Obama! It's not as if this is altruistic though.

Estimates vary, but we ALL know that MOST poor blacks are going to vote FOR Obama!!!

SO his experience as a community orgainzer being touted as "leadership experience" that has prepared him for the white house is HIGHLY suspect.

I respect your beliefs and views and YOUR kids MAY be just fine.......

I think that it is MORE than clear though that continued travel down the roads of social and political liberalism will eventually detsroy our nation.

Just look at how much good the sexual and womens liberation movements have done our country.

There is a line of thinking that says that traditional values are outdated, outmoded and HARMFUL to the well being of people and soceity.

Oddly to these SAME people Liberalism is GOOD for a soceity.

    Facts don't seem to matter.

EVERY college sociology course deals with the consequences of liberal social policies.

The facts are out there folks.

I think that's the credibility gap between the Democratic party and the rest of us.It's hard to trust their motives.Registering certain sectors of the population to vote, and insisting on wide open borders, only benefits the Dem. party. They will ALWAYS vote Democrat.
