I think that planned parenthood provides an invaluable service- free or nearly free birth control. I am pro choice, but think that the real answer is birth control for everyone that needs/wants it.

If the cost of "free or nearly free" birth control is a business that profits from protecting pedophiles ... then the price may be too high.

Not everyone that goes to planned parenthood is a pedophile, I agree that the system is not perfect and mistakes are made, but if you dont give people access to birth control on an affordable basis abortion rates are only going to climb. I am poor, on birth control now, if I got pregnant there is no way I could raise a child...I am also in poor health, I would have to consider an abortion due to medical reasons and financial reasons. Does this make me a bad person? I dont think so...maybe some will say I am

It appears to be "company policy" - at many different PP Clinics and across several states - to adopt a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" polocy when minor children are brought in - often repeatedly - by older men who pay for their abortions.... even to coaching the girls on how to lie to protect their abusers. WHY ? Follow the money. Do you seriously think they are worried about "women's rights" ?? They are worried about the bottom line and profit margins... the only reason they offer "free or nearly free birth control" is that a third of their budget is supplied by the taxpayers.

Planned Parenthood’s annual budget has surpassed $1 billion.
Why the hell do they need our tax dollars?

Government Puts $114 Million in Planned Parenthood Savings Account
    WASHINGTON, March 31 2008

    Jim Sedlak:
"Taxpayer money represents 33 percent of Planned Parenthood's income"
PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "It is absolutely incredible," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, "but the annual report just released by Planned Parenthood Federation of America shows that $114 million of the government funds received by Planned Parenthood were not needed and only increased the abortion giant's assets."

Sedlak was referring to the 2006 -- 2007 PPFA annual report released late last week. The report shows that PPFA had a total income of $1.02 billion. Of that total, $258.7 million came from donations; $366.9 million came from fees charged customers at its clinics; and a whopping $336.7 million came from the American taxpayer.

The report also showed that PPFA recorded a profit of $114.8 million and increased its total assets to $1.12 billion. "Taxpayer money represents 33 percent of Planned Parenthood's income," continued Sedlak, "yet it is clear that it does not need all this money. In these days of financial hardship all across the country, why are American taxpayers being forced to fund a billion dollar corporation that clearly does not need the money?"

Sedlak called for the immediate cessation of all taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and asked all concerned citizens to go to http://www.StopPlannedParenthoodTaxFunding.com and sign the petition demanding the halt of Planned Parenthood's pillaging of our taxpayer monies.

Planned Parenthood Abortion Business Makes $1 Billion Income
by Steven Ertelt - LifeNews.com Editor
    March 28, 2008[/i]

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new annual report from Planned Parenthood shows the nation's largest abortion business has made over $1 billion in income for the first time in its history. The non-profit pro-abortion group shows the historical gain in its new annual report covering 2006-2007.

While Planned Parenthood made $972 milion in its 2005-2006 annual report, last fiscal year it brought in $1.017 billion.

On its web site posting of the annual document, Planned Parenthood says it "highlights our advancements in providing and protecting trusted health care services and medically accurate sexuality education."

Instead, the report finds Planned Parenthood doing more abortions than ever before. The report shows an increase in the number of provided abortions from 264,943 in 2005 to 289,650 in 2006.

Planned Parenthood reveals it has doubled “excess of revenue over expenses” funds from $55.7 million in 2005 to $112 million in 2006.

Of concern to pro-life groups, Planned Parenthood acknowledges the receipt of over $336 million in government grants and contracts from both state and federal governments. However, the abortion business provides no breakdown showing how much Planned Parenthood received from the federal government or specifics states.

The revelations from the annual report upset Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council. "A majority of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion -- however, still Planned Parenthood receives more than $300 million in taxpayer funding each year for 'family planning' projects that help bolster their abortion trade," he told LifeNews.com.

He said Planned Parenthood was not a "wise investment" of public money because of its history. "Would you invest in a company whose affiliates are complicit in sexual crimes against children?" he asked, pointing to numerous instances of its centers doing abortions on victims of statutory rape and sexual abuse.

"Would you take your hard-earned money and pile it into a company whose fundraisers "get excited" when someone wishes to target African-American babies for extinction?" he asked.

The comment refers to a recent investigative report from students at UCLA who found Planned Parenthood officials excited about receiving donations from a racist donor.

Perkins said the ultimate slap in the face to the majority of Americans who are pro-life is the fact that Planned Parenthood still receives government funds despite the fact its political action committee will spend $10 million in this year's election on pro-abortion candidates.

    ---

I’ve alerted you many times to the invaluable investigative work of Lila Rose. She and her team are back with another inside look at the predators of Planned Parenthood — subsidized with your tax dollars. At a clinic in Indiana, Rose’s team catches the abortion provider’s staff deliberately violating the state’s mandatory reporting laws for sexual abuse.

Indiana Planned Parenthood Covers Up Sexual Abuse of 13-year Old

BLOOMINGTON, IN, December 3 –- New footage released today from an undercover camera inside an abortion clinic in Bloomington shows Planned Parenthood staff deliberately violating the state’s mandatory reporting laws for sexual abuse.

The footage shows Lila Rose, a UCLA student journalist and president of right-to-life advocacy group Live Action, posing as a 13-year-old girl. In an appointment with a Planned Parenthood nurse, Rose says she has been impregnated by a 31-year-old man, a clear case of child molestation under Indiana state law.

On tape, the nurse acknowledges her responsibility to report the abuse, but assures Rose she will not. The nurse says, “I am supposed to report to Child Protective Services,” but tells Rose, “Okay, I didn’t hear the age [of the 31-year-old]. I don’t want to know the age.”

She then instructs Rose how to obtain a secret abortion by crossing state lines in order to avoid Indiana’s parental consent law. The nurse also coaches Rose to cover for the 31-year-old man by saying he is only 14. She says, “You’ve seen him around, you know he’s 14, he’s in your grade and whatever. You know what I mean.”

Rose said she and other students in Live Action recorded the video over the summer in a multi-state investigation of the abortion industry. Rose described the undercover audit, called The Mona Lisa Project, as “demonstrating the routine lawlessness of abortion providers at Planned Parenthood.” Rose noted, “Today’s video release is only a sample from many hours of similarly disturbing footage.”

Planned Parenthood, a tax-exempt nonprofit, made over $100 million in profits last year and has a billion-dollar budget, nearly a third of which comes from taxpayers through government funding.

Jackie Stollar, student president of a Live Action chapter in Oregon, accompanied Rose on the investigation. “In a repeated pattern, Planned Parenthood has violated the public trust. It should have its government funding revoked,” she said. “During an economic crisis, can the government really spare $300 million to support such an unethical organization?”

“The Mona Lisa Project demonstrates how quickly the abortion industry’s disrespect for unborn children becomes disregard for all humans,” Rose explained. “Planned Parenthood offers no solutions for the victim of statutory rape—they give her an abortion and a bag of condoms and send her straight back into the arms of the abuser.”

    http://www.metacafe.com/watch/211334...overs_up_sexua l_abuse_of_13_year_old/

The video is available online here, http://www.metacafe.com/channels/LiveActionFilms/
and can also be found with more information on The Mona Lisa Project at LiveActionFilms.org.

Two more Planned Parenthood clinics have been caught on tape allegedly trying to conceal statutory rape.

College students Lila Rose and Jackie Stollar said they entered the Phoenix clinics posing as 15-year-old girls and told employees that Stollar needed an abortion after being impregnated by her adult "boyfriend." The video they shot shows Stollar apparently telling one clinic that the father in question was "a lot older than" her, and telling the second "he’s 27."

But rather than contact law enforcement, as is required by Arizona law if an adult-child relationship is revealed, the video shows the staffer at the first clinic state, "we don't ask any questions." The second tells the girls "everything is confidential." Both went on to explain how the "teen" could dodge consent laws to get her abortion without telling her parents, according to the video.

According to Liveaction.org, the clinics are the fourth and fifth Planned Parenthood centers implicated in the "Mona Lisa Project" — a developing multi-state undercover probe of Planned Parenthood clinics conducted by student-led non-profit Live Action.

In December 2008, the Mona Lisa Project exposed similar cases at two Planned Parenthood clinics in Indiana. State prosecutors launched investigations into Planned Parenthood of Indiana and both clinics either fired or suspended employees. Officials with Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona said they planned to investigate the matter.

Planned Parenthood, abortion and the budget fight
Donna Cassata, Associated Press – Sat Apr 9, 12:03 am ET

WASHINGTON – Republicans portray Planned Parenthood as primarily focused on performing abortions and — intentionally or not — using American taxpayer dollars to do it.

Not so, say Democrats who counter that the group's 800-plus health centers nationwide provide an array of services, from screenings for cancer to testing for sexually transmitted diseases. Abortion is just one of many procedures, and the law bars Planned Parenthood from using tax money for it.

In the budget maelstrom Friday stood Planned Parenthood Federation of America, a 90-year-old organization now part of a decades-long congressional battle over abortion. Republicans wanted any legislation keeping the government operating to bar federal dollars for Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest provider of abortions. They wanted to distribute the money to the states. "The country is broke and the vast majority of Americans don't want tax dollars to take the life of unborn children," Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio., chairman of Republican Study Committee, told reporters in a conference call.

Democrats said they saw a radical agenda against women's health, especially poor and low-income women, and wouldn't allow it, even if it meant shutting down the government. "It is appalling that Republicans would hold our economic recovery hostage for a ransom of denying millions of women Pap tests, breast exams, and birth control," said Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y. "It shows their top priority is not keeping our economic recovery on track — it is reviving divisive social issues."

Late Friday, the White House and congressional negotiators reached a deal on the budget and a compromise on Planned Parenthood funds. Under the agreement, the Senate will hold a vote on the money, and it's likely it would reject the House effort to cut off the cash.

Abortion nearly scuttled President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in the final hours of debate last March. A year later, the stakes were higher, the political rhetoric fierce and the claims in need of clarification.

Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., wrote last month that the legislative fight is "Big Abortion vs. American taxpayers."

Giving its version, Planned Parenthood said it performed about 330,000 abortions last year, 3 percent of its total health care services. The organization also said its doctors and nurses annually conduct 1 million screenings for cervical cancer, 830,000 breast exams and some 4 million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted diseases.

Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, said in a statement: "Attacking Planned Parenthood's preventive health care hurts women, does not cut the deficit or fix the economy, and must be stopped."

Nine of the Senate's Democratic women stood together at a midday Capitol Hill news conference vowing to stop the House GOP effort. "This is an opportunity for the right wing in the House to really sock it to women," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

Said Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash.: "These women are a mighty line of defense against cutting Planned Parenthood."

The organization said it receives $363 million in federal funds, getting its money from both the Title X program and Medicaid. Title X provides grants for family planning and related health services under a law signed by Republican President Richard M. Nixon in December 1970.

Of the Title X money, Planned Parenthood gets about $70 million, some 25 percent of the $317 million in Title X spending. The organization's annual budget is $1.1 billion and includes individual donations. Federal law bars Planned Parenthood from using tax dollars for abortion. In 1976, three years after the landmark Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, Congress passed the Hyde Amendment which bars the use of taxpayer funds for abortion except in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother.

It annually is attached to the congressional spending bills. But Republicans argue that often all the money ends up in the same account for the organizations. "Come on," Jordan said. "It's just common sense. We think that taxpayers understand this, particularly at a point in history when the country is broke."

No matter what the outcome, the fight over federal money for Planned Parenthood will continue. Once Congress resolves the budget for the current fiscal year, it must decide on spending for the next budget. "We have a long history of pro-life protection being part of an appropriation debate," Jordan said.

Stop paying Congress and the House their salaries and benefits for every hour that the budget is overdue. I can guarantee it will be fixed within 24 hours. Then cut their salaries by 20% and make them pay contributions for pensions and health insurance. Cut back on Foreign aid especially to countries that are hostile to the US and support terrorism or don't really need the money. Finally, the federal government spends over $15 billion a year in benefits, medical, incarceration and education to illegal immigrants and their families. Cut that and half of them will deport themselves saving more government costs in the long run.

    For pro-choice people---

Where is the choice for tax payers who do not want to pay for killing babies?

I don't mind being taxed for services but I don't want to be pay for abortions. So where is the choice in that? Paying to help single mothers or medical treatment they need is ok but I don't want to pay for their abortions.

Maybe a special fund should be set up for those who don't mind their tax dollars going for abortions.

Think of it this way, one time abortion cost, $1000. If a women gets pregnant, you pay for prenatal care, when the child is born you pay for hospital bills, then you pay for $ support and food stamps for the child and mother potentially until the child is 18. So, you figure $200 a month in food stamps, times 12 months, time 18 years....That is $43,200 PLUS if they have state medical insurance you have now way of estimating the amount in tax dollars they use for car. So you can estimate that just in food stamps and medical care, $60,000 at the least. Abortions are a $59,000 savings....oh and I forgot to add in cash assistance, say another $12,000 for 18 years. So that is $71000 PER CHILD.

Only considering cash/cost....abortions are not necessarily a one time occurrence. How much is sterilization? I'd rather pay for that.

There are some who say the government doesn't belong in their bedrooms.......but then expect the government to contribute to their birth control medication, abortions and/or to support their children. Seems a bit contradictory. Seems they want to have their cake and eat it too on someone else's tab.

And then you have those that have an abortion, then another, then another, then another............
Get on the pill, depo shot, patch... If you don't want to have a baby, then use birth control. Birth control methods are free at planned parenthood (health dept.) also.
