Cool Yet more trash pickin' scores

Went to find a garage sale, when I got there it was over. However, what didn't sell was on the curb. Got a lovely book of photos of California and a book on whales and dolphins

The book on whales will go to my grand niece. The California book I will give away. Any takers?

Congratulations on your finds. I love those and it's a great idea to hit the garage sales at the end of the day. A few months ago I stopped at one and they had a box of costume jewelry selling it for 25 cents each, I asked about the whole box and she said take it but I saw some nice stuff in there and gave her a couple bucks. I've gone through it and found some nice things with tags still on it and donated it to the senior center so they can use it as Bingo prizes. A couple of very nice pieces I may keep as gifts needed on short notice and some I may check out to see if it's real gold or silver and sell for scrap. You get lucky every now and then. I've also taken entire bags of clothes to the homeless shelter telling them where I got it and I hadn't gone through it yet, if they are going to just throw it to the curb maybe someone can get use out of it.

Thats a great idea for the homeless shelter. One thing they really need is plus sized clothing. When I reduced my stash of tee shirts (I'm an XXL) I brought them to the shelter and they were thrilled.

The one I go to is Washington Street, which isn't on Washington street at all but has been there for 20+ years that I know of. I like to drop things off there, the people who go there can't afford Good Will or Salvation Army and a lot of people are going to GW and SA to find stuff for resale on websites, I guess that's ok but not why I donate to those organizations. I remember seeing a little girl jumping up and down because they found a coat and they gave her a few other things for school. I felt good and awful at the same time, good she found a coat for winter bad that they walked from the bus stop to the shelter for necessities.
