    Flea Killing Dog Shampoo Recipe

    Ingredients:

1/4 Cup Liquid Dr. Bonner Unscented Baby Mild Soap
    1/4 Cup Vinegar
    1/2 Cup Warm Water

    Directions:

Mix all 3 ingredients in a empty squeeze bottle, cover tip with your thumb and shake well.

Apply from bottom of your dog’s neck to the tip of their tail. Don’t forget chest, legs and in between the paws.

Massage the soapy mixture on your dog for 5 whole minutes.

Rinse thoroughly….then rinse again because most people do not rinse thoroughly enough.

Dry your dog with an old towel.

Use a Lice Comb to remove any dead fleas from your dog’s hair once it is completely dry.

Then give them a treat for being such a good sport.

Lola, my boxer dog was paid 2 treats…. 1 treat for the bath and 1 treat for her modeling fee, lol.

Update: One of Facebook page reader’s shared this tip: Boot’n LePage -The trick is to make a ring of soap around the neck first. This keeps the fleas from all rushing up to “high ground”

Yes, this recipe will work on cats as well but I have been scared to try.

Over-the-Counter Medications That Are Safe for Dogs (And How Much to Give!)
Written on 07/11/2013 by Brandy Arnold

While veterinary care, lots of love, and a healthy lifestyle is the absolute best way to keep your pet feeling great, all dogs will experience at least some form of injury or illness in their lifetime. Did you know that there are many over-the-counter human medications that can be safe and effective for dogs, when used correctly?

Benadryl, or another branded antihistamine, can be incredibly useful for treating allergies, bug bites, or other causes of itchy skin. Buffered aspirin is an excellent anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. Even Dramamine can be used for dogs with motion sickness, and Immodium can treat diarrhea. However, dosages for dogs are much different than for humans.

Use the chart below to determine if your OTC medication is dog (and cat) safe and how much should be administered. Always check with your veterinarian that understands your pet’s health and history before giving any medications. Additionally, be certain that you’re using only the medication listed, not other ingredients. Many antihistamines, for example, include added decongestants that can be lethal for your dog.

Check labels very carefully and when in doubt, don’t use.

Flea shampoos such as Hartz and Sergeants contain dangerous chemicals that can be VERY harmful to your pet.

Instead, use 1 cup Dawn dish soap, 1 cup vinegar, and 1 quart of warm water.

Massage in and let sit for five minutes before rinsing clean.

It's a safe and inexpensive solution for ALL ANIMALS that WHE have used on new intakes and strays before starting them on flea and tick prevention from our vets for years!
