I thought this site was neat but I don't think I'm going to make my house.

My husband and I (and some paid help) built a small house for us on our property. During the summers when he was off work (was driving a school bus at the time) he would stay on the property and work on the house and other projects (workshop and storage buildings). It took some time, but overall, it works well for us -- no kids, so we didn't need a lot of space. We managed to live frugally as we were paying off the ten acres, so never had a big mortgage. Definitely helped keep our expenses down.

There is a lot of cool stuff you can make that you would usually buy but some of it I wouldn't even dream of trying.

On top of that, I'm not really a good cook. Wish I could get someone to make some furnace filters. HAW! XD
