I'm not saying this is not a good deal, but it's not free. There is a sling or a sling gift set to choose from. The sling is 11.95 and the gift set comes to 16.95

I didn't send for it so didn't know. It looked like a form that said the total is $00.01.

Didn't know what the 1 cent was for. Guess if you have paypal you could pay one Penny. Anyway, I would email the site to see where the freebie went.

NOT a Freebie, but a "Just Pay Shipping"

This is not a freebie, in the sense of "don't pay anything at all". This is a "just pay shipping" deal.

The code will let you get the sling (or sling gift set) for the cost of shipping (~ $11) and sizing insurance (an extra $4, in case you pick the wrong size, so they can replace it for you) only, so you pay a little over $15 for the sling, and a little over $20 for the sling gift set. The sling is usually $40, so this is a fantastic deal.

I went ahead and ordered this, as I'm pregnant and plan to use a sling. New slings are usually, at minimum, $30, and usually much higher than that, so being able to get one for $15 and change is VERY good.

Here's another good deal...if you go ahead and order, you find out that the people who sell the sling have other products, namely, a nursing cover and a bracelet that lets you keep track of breastfeeding. You will get another code and a link so you can also get a nursing cover, or a nursing cover gift set (cover, breast pads, and bracelet), again for shipping only. I went ahead and did that one, too. So, all total, I just spent about $30 for about
    +$60 of products.

It looks like I should receive it in about a week and a half. I will let people know how that works out. Again, looks like a great deal, but it's not a freebie. I'd still let people know about it, though.

    Uh oh

Received the sling today. It's made of very, very thin material, with a strong chemical smell. No washing instructions were included with sling or on their site, so I decided to see if other people online have had experience with this brand.

Putting in "Seven Slings review" in a search engine will show this brand is pretty notorious for its cheap quality (I'm not the only person who noted the chemical smell, and apparently this sling will shrink hideously, so hand wash and air dry) and atrocious customer service.

This "just pay shipping" deal has been going on for quite a long time (nearly two years), with multiple codes for the deals to be found on many sites, so probably there's no "deal" at all, just an elaborate ruse to make people think they're getting a fantastic deal, when they're actually getting what they're paying for. Many people have had issues with customer service giving wrong information, refusing returns and refusing refunds, being overbilled or never sent the product they ordered. They have a LOT of complaints against them through the BBB.

This sling is probably going to be stuffed in a corner for emergency use only. Their return policy is nearly impossible to enact(one part actually states if you don't send it back EXACTLY folded the way it's sent to you, they'll refuse to accept it) if you've opened it at all they won't accept it back, and, if they will accept it back, they only refund purchase price, less shipping...which means, if you did the "just pay shipping" deal, you can't get back ANYTHING.

Carrolin, if you managed to find a way to not even pay shipping for this thing (I spent a long time trying the "hints" in your post and found nothing, and no one else online mentions getting these things completely free-what you did to get it completely free must have been for a limited time), you did better than me - best I can say is at least I didn't spend a lot on it.

Anyone else reading this, don't waste your time or money, as for most of us, you WILL have to at least pay shipping.

I had to register to two different sites, and i paid zero...it was a promotion, and mine was shipped
as of yesterday...if these are the same as yours...trust me, a baby's skin is so sensitive...mine will
be burned! I can't tell the name of the sites, because it's against the forums rules. But remember janelle
was only trying to share. The hints i gave was only enough to get away with. I will check mine out
and see if it's from the same company...if that chemical smell is in there, i will have no problem
posting the actual supplier and telling them off on all media i can!...sorry for your wasted money...
Call them, write them...demand a refund and full replacement to boot!...i hope this helps.

    Smiles.

Unhappy My 2 slings, are considered burned now!

OH, MY....LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND!

    NEWS from CPSC

    U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

Office of Information and Public AffairsWashington, DC 20207
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    March 12, 2010
    Release #10-165 CPSC Recall Hotline: (800) 638-2772
    CPSC Media Contact: (301) 504-7908

Infant Deaths Prompt CPSC Warning About Sling Carriers for Babies

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is advising parents and caregivers to be cautious when using infant slings for babies younger than four months of age. In researching incident reports from the past 20 years, CPSC identified and is investigating at least 14 deaths associated with sling-style infant carriers, including three in 2009. Twelve of the deaths involved babies younger than four months of age.
Slings can pose two different types of suffocation hazards to babies. In the first few months of life, babies cannot control their heads because of weak neck muscles. The sling’s fabric can press against an infant’s nose and mouth, blocking the baby’s breathing and rapidly suffocating a baby within a minute or two. Additionally, where a sling keeps the infant in a curled position bending the chin toward the chest, the airways can be restricted, limiting the oxygen supply. The baby will not be able to cry for help and can slowly suffocate.
Many of the babies who died in slings were either a low birth weight twin, were born prematurely, or had breathing issues such as a cold. Therefore, CPSC urges parents of preemies, twins, babies in fragile health and those with low weight to use extra care and consult their pediatricians about using slings.
Two months ago, the Commission added slings to the list of durable infant products that require a mandatory standard. Additionally, CPSC staff is actively investigating these products to determine what additional action may be appropriate. Until a mandatory standard is developed, CPSC is working with ASTM International to quickly complete an effective voluntary standard for infant sling carriers.
CPSC recommends that parents and caregivers make sure the infant’s face is not covered and is visible at all times to the sling’s wearer. If nursing the baby in a sling, change the baby’s position after feeding so the baby’s head is facing up and is clear of the sling and the mother’s body. Parents and caregivers should be vigilant about frequently checking their baby in a sling.
CPSC is interested in receiving incident or injury reports that are directly related to infant slings. You can do this by visiting www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/incident.aspx or call CPSC’s Hotline at (800) 638-2772.

    Sling warnings

Carrolin, I saw that warning last month, and even though it's several years old, it's still a good one.

It doesn't condemn all slings, mind you. But because they're getting popular, some people are rushing out anything that looks like it would work without adequate testing. There's been a lot of slings on recall lists, mostly of the "ring sling" variety. Some have hardware that fails, which can end up with baby hurt, and several had too much material and babies smothered without their parents noticing.

That site mentions to be cautious, and to check their website frequently to see if anything you've got might have ended up on a recall list. So many things get recalled, you have to actually check these things out on your own, because most recalls NEVER get mentioned in the press, and there are so many of them, the press wouldn't be able to notify the public AND keep up with regular news. And you have to keep checking, because they might seem fine, but if enough reports of injuries or deaths come in, they'll end up recalled, and many people never know.

I've been saving baby stuff up for almost a decade, collected from friends, garage sales, and freebie sites... A few weeks ago, I'd read a book on baby gear that advised checking out used baby items on the CPSC site. I'd checked most of what I had already years ago, but wanted to be safe. Thank God I did, because it turns out both the crib I had been given and a BABY SLING I'd bought at a garage sale were both recalled because of baby deaths. I was horrified.

I junked the crib immediately (turned out the manufacturer had gone out of business because of multiple defective products, so no compensation there), but the sling turned out to be interesting. The manufacturer of that has a program where you give them your information, print out a postage-paid label, send them a portion of the defective sling, and they'll send you a safe replacement product for free. I picked out a new sling. I'd paid, I think, only about $10 for the defective sling at a garage sale, so I'll end up with a high-quality Mei-Tai style carrier worth about $40 for free!

If you're checking products out on that site, make sure to have both the manufacturer AND the make/model/serial numbers. Most major manufacturers have had a product recalled at one time or another, so you need to check the model numbers to see if what you have was in the bad batch. A lot of brands which had been on recall lists in the past now have a safer version on the market with no problems. There's a particular brand of co-sleepers that had their first models recalled because of suffocation hazards, but they promptly redesigned them, and the newer ones are safe and still on the market today.

Janelle, I did want to thank you for the link. I think all of us have submitted freebie links at one time that turned out to have problems (bad product, no product, bait and switch). Just keep on submitting! And like I said, Carrolin, at least you didn't pay anything out for this horrible sling, you're one up on me, all I can do is look at it and say, "Well, at least I didn't spend full price for this!"

After seeing how much of a pain it would be to return it (On their return policy it states that if you return it, and THEY don't agree with your reason for returning it, not only might they refuse to refund your money, they may send the sling right back to you AND then charge you for having sent the sling back!), I decided to just keep it. I noticed on some other sites that when people complain about this product or treatment by customer service, the company owner is quick to place all the blame on the customer, and claim people are slandering them, and they've never done anything wrong to anyone. I find that VERY disturbing.

    Shawna
