I made these for my wedding. Boy did my fingers hurt afterwards! I also made them for my cousin's wedding and a friend's. They do look beautiful! I still have some in a vase in my bedroom (minus the one that A v e r y tried to take apart and eat--YUCK)!

Make a String Art 3D Heart

It's not too early to start thinking about Valentine's Day - it'll be here before you know it! This great little 3D string art by Mona at Craft Klatch uses a candy mold as a form for making a dimensional heart, but if you don't have a candy mold, this is yet another project you can complete using the silicone ice cube trays they sell for each holiday at Dollar Tree. (There are lots of ways you can use those ice cube trays, and we just adore them!) Use the finished hearts as decorative ornaments, or work them into jewelry or other projects! [how to make a string heart Valentine ornament http://craftklatchwithmona.blogspot....art-craft.html ]

    Project estimate:
◾Heart mold, on hand or $1 and up
    ◾Embroidery floss, on hand
◾Liquid starch, on hand or $1 and up
    ◾Glue, on hand

    Directions:

    1. Carefully unwind your embroidery floss into the starch. Make sure to keep the end out.

    2. While you are pulling the embroidery floss out of the starch and winding it into the mold, make sure you are using your other hand to pinch off any excess. You don't want the starch to pool at the bottom of the mold.

    3. I did not make a solid heart. I just wanted the shape and I wanted it to have some openings.

    4. Allow to completely dry.

    5. When dry, they should easily pop right out of the molds. Use a glue that dries clear to glue the two halves together. DO NOT use hot glue. I originally tried hot glue and when I tried to pull off the glue strings, it pulled my heart apart. Elmer's glue would work fine!

    6. When the glue is dry feed twine or fishing line through openings at the top of the heart, tie and hang!

Non-Candy Valentine’s Day Class Gift Ideas

    January 4, 2014 by Jennifer Fishkind |

    http://princesspinkygirl.com/valenti...ss-gift-ideas/

alentine’s Day has become sweeter than Halloween – and yes, I mean by the candy. My kids come home from school with a boatload of candy. This year I thought it would be nice to pass out an alternative to candy! So, here are some great Valentine’s Day class gift ideas for you!!

    Crayon Hearts

This was one of my first Pinterest projects. My friend Maria and I made these for our kids class. They were very easy and super cute. All you need is lots and lots of crayons (this is a great way to use all of those broken crayons) and a heart brownie tray – I got mine at either Target or Michaels (can’t remember). You just cut up the crayons into little pieces and put them in the brownie tray. Use dark and light colored mixed together. The yellows, pinks and whites really brighten up the finished product. Bake at 230 degrees for about 15 minutes (although I think it took us closer to 20). Warning – your house will stink AND you will never want to use this tray for anything again other than heart crayons!
