That 70s Show star Lisa Robin Kelly died in a rehab center, at the age of 43. The actress had recently admitted herself into the facility in order to deal with problems with alcohol abuse. Her agent released the following statement:

“Unfortunately Lisa Robin Kelly passed away last evening. Lisa had voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility early this week where she was battling the addiction problems that have plagued her these past few years. I spoke to her on Monday and she was hopeful and confident, looking forward to putting this part of her life behind her. Last night she lost the battle. Cause of death has not been issued yet and no death certificate has been issued either.”

Lisa Robin Kelly’s death: Cops rule out foul play, hand case to coroner
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman told the Daily News Wednesday that homicide investigators have eliminated foul play as possible factor. The Los Angeles County Coroner reportedly never received a direct call from the rehab facility where the 'That '70s Show' actress died.

The news came after TMZ.com reported that investigators had suspicions that a doctor may have acted inappropriately in reporting her death.

According to TMZ.com, the Los Angeles County Coroner never got a direct call from the rehab facility where Kelly died Aug. 14 and only learned about her sudden demise through a media report the next day.

A doctor at the rehab had pronounced the 43-year-old dead at the scene and attributed her passing to an “embolism” when questioned by a coroner investigator, TMZ reported.

The coroner reportedly scoffed at the conclusion since no autopsy had been performed

Sheriff’s investigators later placed a security hold on the case, which prohibited coroner officials from discussing any details, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said early Wednesday.

A formal cause of death could take weeks due to toxicology testing. Investigators want to know what was in Kelly's system when she died, including any withdrawal medication administered at the rehab, a coroner source said last week.

A Connecticut native, Kelly played Eric Forman’s beautiful but conniving older sister on her hit Fox sitcom but left after five seasons.

She later admitted a drinking problem and was arrested multiple times over the last few years for DUI, assault and alleged spousal abuse.

Kelly voluntarily checked herself into the addiction treatment center the Monday before her death to “get her life back on track,” her agent Craig Wyckoff told The News.

Wycoff said he hoped the death investigation would provide answers.

“You can’t tell an embolism by looking at a body. If it’s true the doctor said that, he or she shouldn’t have a medical license,” Wycoff told The News.

“If some kind of mistake cost her her life, we want to know. But they might find she simply died of natural causes due to the strain of her lifestyle,” he said. “I think people should remember the life lesson that when you do things to excess, there are consequences. Lisa’s powers didn’t get displayed to their full extent due to her personal problems.”
