Margaret Pellegrini, who was only 14 when she was cast as the Flower Pot Munchkin in the 1939 film 'The Wizard of Oz,' has died at age 89.
The actress, who played the Flower Pot Munchkin in the 1939 film, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, in Arizona.
The 4-foot-tall star was just 14 when she was cast in the Judy Garland film and was one of the youngest actors on the set — she was more than a year younger than Garland.
Born in Tuscumbia, Ala., in 1923, Pellegrini became a regular at "Oz"-themed events and was scheduled to serve as grand marshal of this year's Chittenango's Oz-Stravaganza festival in New York. She suffered a stroke in the lead-up to the event and was forced to cancel her appearance.
Flowers were scheduled to be placed on the Munchkins' Hollywood Walk of Fame star Wednesday to mark Pellegrini's death.
