$415. Thats after they gave us a discount. The one pair of glasses was $809 before the discount. She said its because he has to have a thicker lens for the eye that the eye doctor messed up. The woman at the eyeglass place said they really messed my husbands eye up, that his prescription now is way worse than he had the last time he was there. She showed my husband where the lens they put in that eye was wrinkled and not flat like it should be. Today we went back in for the other eye and the eye doctor said its not clear in one part and if it gets worse they can fix it with a laser but its ok for right now. While we were in the waiting room we've heard several people saying how they can't see nearly as good as they did before. One man said he used to be able to read close up but can't now after his surgery. They had to give my husband a really strong prescription but at least he can see better out of it now. He could hardly see out o itf before. We'll see when he gets them in a week to ten days how much better it is for sure. But man thats high for one pair of glasses. Medicares supposed to pay for a complete pair of glasses but I doubt they'll pay that much. Anybody know what they pay for a pair of glasses?

That is high, and I think I would be looking for a different eye doctor. With your husbands eye being worse and hearing other people saying the same thing, I'd definitely be looking for a different eye doctor.

We're done with him now. I doubt we'll be going back. Just a month ago his assisstant doctor said the second eye looked perfect was healing really good. Now today it has a place on it that if it gets worse he'll have to get it treated with a laser. I can't believe it went bad that fast. And when they look at the first eye they say everything looks really good. They didn't say anything about the lens being wrinkled.

If they messed up I doubt they are going to admit it. The best thing you could do is go to another specialist and have both his eyes checked They should be able to tell if the first eye was messed up from the procedure he had done on it.

Check page 43 of your copy of 2012 Medicare & You. You pay 20% of the approved amount...and those are the magic words...approved amount. I got the cheapest frames that I liked. I wear trifocals and they usually cost well over $400 for a complete pair. I don't remember what I ended up paying but it was significantly less. If you have questions for Medicare they are very helpful. Their phone # is 1-800-633-4227.

I would have went to several places and got pricing differences. One of my lenses is a special order and I still payed less than 200 bucks for my glasses.

Our problem is my husbands copd is so bad he doesn't feel like doing anything anymore. So we end up paying more because we just go to one place. I would have liked to have checked other places out but he's just not able too. This place was very close to where we live. Right in the mall next door. I believe it being in a mall is what made it so high too.

Is there a Sears in your Mall? They are usually a lot cheaper than Lens Crafters. Did he pick an expensive pair of frames? As the cost of frames can be very inexpensive and go up to OMG expensive. Hopefully they will help him see better.

Sears and walmart wouldn't accept medicare. Medicares supposed to pay for a complete pair of glasses after cataract surgery. And his frames were 129 dollars. The lens were what ran it up. Thats what the lady said. He had to have a really strong prescription for his left eye just to be able to see out of it again.

Well we found out today medicare is only going to pay $159. Thats not a lot but I'm thankful for that. So much for them paying a for a complete pair of glasses after cataract surgery.
