Christian pastor sentenced to death in Iran for abandoning Islam

A trial court located in the Gilan Province of Iran has sentenced Christian pastor Yousef Nadarkhani to death for the crime of converting from Islam to Christianity.

In 2009, Nadarkhani, 34 and father of two, was arrested and charged with rape and extortion by the Iranian government, Fox News reported.

Tiffany Barrans, international legal director of the American Center for Law and Justice, told The Daily Caller that death sentences are common in the Islamic republic for those who fall away from the Muslim faith.

“The Iranian Supreme Court upheld that the proper sentence for an apostate that refuses to recant is death,” Barrans said.

Nadarkhani has spent 863 days in jail.

The ACLJ has already proven that the rape and extortion charges were false: An Iranian Supreme Court ruling has stated the only charge brought against Nadarkhani was apostasy. Documents from Iran’s Supreme Court are not available to the public, but Barrans’ organization obtained a copy and translated it.

After several attempts to force the Christian pastoer to renounce his faith, the Iranian Supreme Court ordered the Gilan trial court to hear his case. That court gave him a death sentenced — which in Iran is typically carried out on the gallows.

“The world needs to stand up and say that a man cannot be put to death because of his faith,” ACLJ executive director Jordan Sekulow told Fox News.

Even if he were spared execution, Nadarkhani could spend the rest of his life in an Iranian prison, Barran added.

“Whether they sentence him for life [in prison] or death, either sentence violates Iran’s obligations under the International Covenant of Political and Civil Rights, as well as the Universal Declaration for Human Rights,” she explained.

Even though Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and 89 members of Congress have called for Nadarkhani’s release, and the ACLJ has been collecting petitions online for months, his advocates are less than optimistic.

Although the lower court in Gilan found that Nadarkhani was never a practicing Muslim in the first place, the Iranian Supreme Court upheld his conviction because he was born into a Muslim family.

Iran trails only China in its annual rate of executions, said Barrans, making it difficult to determine whether Nadarkhani is still alive. But as of Tuesday, his lawyer said he is “in good health.”

Full Story of Youcef Nadarkhani
We first reported the arrest of pastor Youcef in the fall of 2009. Here is a brief history of Youcef Nadarkhani, leading up to his current situation.

**UPDATE** – Youcef is still under the death sentence for apostasy. In June the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence as it is based upon fatwas of the Supreme Leader. On September 25-28 hearings were held by the Gilan provincial court to determine if he was a Muslim. On the 26th they determined that Youcef was a Muslim because his parents were when he was born. All witnesses stated that he did not practice Islam, yet the court inexplicably determined he was a national apostate. At each hearing he was commanded to recant and each time he refused. Two hearings were held after the verbal determination was made by the judges. There is a serious concern that he could be executed at any time because according to Sharia Law you are to be given three days to recant if you are an apostate. He was commanded to recant three straight days after the judges made their determination. The attorney’s for pastor Youcef are stating that, by law, the written verdict must be delivered within seven days. To this date the written verdict for Pastor Youcef has not been delivered. The court has promised another delay for the express purpose to give him more time to recant and return to Islam.

Youcef is 34 years old and is from Rasht, in the Gilan province of Iran. For the past ten years he has been a pastor in a network of house churches. He was previously imprisoned in December of 2006, the charges being apostasy (leaving Islam for Christianity) and evangelism (spreading the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ), but was released two weeks later.

He is married and has two sons, Daniel age 9 and Yoel age 7. They were attending a local school when the government decided that all children should be taught about Islam, including those from Christian families. Youcef went to the school and protested this based on the Iranian constitution, which allows for freedom to practice religion. As a result, the secret police called him before the political tribunal in Rasht, Iran on October 12, 2009. At that time he was arrested, charged for protesting, and has been in prison in Lakan (which is seven miles south of Rasht) ever since. Later the charges changed to apostasy and evangelism to Muslims.

Youcef is imprisoned in the Lakan prison, a city close to Rasht. Over the time of his incarceration he has mostly has had access to an attorney, and has been allowed visits from his wife, children, and friends. However, for the first month in prison and for several months around the time of his trial he was in solitary confinement. They have used various methods to try to convert him back to Islam, including giving him pills, apparently in an attempt to claim that he was insane.

Because Youcef’s faith remained strong, they decided to arrest his wife in order to place more pressure on him. On June 18th, 2010 Fatemah Pasindedih was arrested, charged with apostasy and placed in prison in Lakan. During this time their boys went to live with a relative. Both Youcef and his wife Fatemah were threatened by authorities that their children would be taken away and given to a Muslim family. Youcef was not swayed to turn back to Islam, so his wife was put on trial without an attorney, and sentenced to life in prison. An attorney was later hired and the sentence appealed. The sentence and conviction were overturned and she was released.

On September 21 and 22, 2010, Youcef was put on trial, and verbally given the sentence of death. A written verdict was delayed and then delivered, on November 13, 2010, by the 1st Court of the Revolutionary Tribunal. He is to be executed by hanging for the crime of apostasy. Twenty days are allowed to appeal the sentence with the Supreme Court of Iran.

On December 5, 2010 the verdict was appealed to the Supreme Court, but on June 28, 2011 we learned that the Supreme Court reached a decision. The third chamber of the Supreme Court in Qom upheld his conviction for apostasy and the death sentence. They have commanded the local court to re-examine whether or not he was a practicing Muslim from ages 15 to 19. If it is determined he was a practicing Muslim he will be given another chance to recant and then he will be executed.

The re-examination of his case was held September 25th through 28th. From the very beginning it was demanded he recant. Even before the case was heard or the trial completed. During one hearing he was told to recant and he responded, “You ask me to recant. Recant means to return. What do you wish me to return to? The blasphemy that I was in before Christ?” The judges responded, “To the religion of your ancestors, Islam.” Youcef replied, “I cannot.” The Muslim attorney that is working to help him had this to say about his client, ”Physically he looks weak but emotionally his belief in Christ is keeping his spirits high.”

Based upon Islamic Sharia Law an apostate is to be given three days to recant. There is a very real concern that he could be executed at any time. The attorney’s suggest that first a written verdict will be delivered, by law within a week, and secondly they will have the opportunity to appeal the verdict.

Nonetheless, there are no assurances that he will not be executed. It could happen at any time. This is the way that the Iranian government operates with executions. They do not give advance notice and it is done in secret.

Iranian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani is still alive and recent reports of his execution are false, according to the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which was able to confirm on March 26 that the imprisoned evangelical minister's death sentence for apostasy has not been carried out. Many followers of Nadarkhani's case grew alarmed after a purported image of the pastor was in wide circulation on the Internet. The image shows the Iranian pastor blindfolded, standing on gallows next to a noose while two armed guards stand behind him.

This image fueled rumors that Nadarkhani had in fact been executed. Iran has a history of executing prisoners without warning, sometimes leaving the body of the executed at the family's doorstep, according to the ACLJ.

The ACLJ has confirmed that the image, which has reportedly been in circulation since July 2011, is a fake and the execution rumors are false. The organization stipulates that the false execution reports and images may be a part of a misinformation campaign initiated by the Iranian regime.

Regardless of the misinformation's source, the ACLJ confirms that the rumors could have a potentially negative effect on Nadarkhani's release. The ACLJ announced on Feb. 21 that a death order had been issued for the Iranian pastor, who has been imprisoned since Oct. 2009. Nadarkhani was initially arrested for protesting the mandatory teaching of Islam in his children's school, but his charges were later changed to apostasy and attempting to evangelize Muslims.

Many critics argue that Iran should have issued a verdict by now, but is stalling Nadarkhani's case in order to lessen international pressure. His case has gained a large amount of international support, as many countries recognize Iran's violation of human rights, as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The American Center for Law and Justice has played a large role in ensuring Nadarkhani's case be heard. In mid-February, the nonprofit organization began the "Tweet for Youcef" campaign, which has garnered support from around the world. The campaign uses Twitter to inform users of Nadarkhani's plight. Iran has continued to defend its imprisonment of Nadarkhani, saying that the country is not in violation of its human rights laws. "Christianity and Judaism are preached in Iran. We have a number of synagogues; we have a number of churches. But there is no need to humiliate, to offend Islam," Iranian envoy Mohammad Javad Larijani said at a United Nations human rights meeting in mid-March.

Larijani reportedly went on to say that Nadarkhani, an evangelical Christian, "offended Islam" by preaching Christianity.

Nadarkhani, 32, was imprisoned for three years and waiting execution for refusing to renounce his Christian faith. His charges were lowered to evangelizing to Muslims, which carried a three-year sentence. He was released with time served, according to the American Center for Law and Justice, a Washington-based watchdog group that had been campaigning for the pastor’s release.

“Today our sources in Iran reported that Pastor Youcef was acquitted of apostasy and released from prison. After languishing in prison for almost three years, he has been reunited with his family,” Jordan Sekulow, executive director of ACLJ said in a statement to FoxNews.com.

Muslim jihadists crush 50 Catholic churches

A Roman Catholic priest reports that 50 out of 52 Catholic Churches in Nigeria’s Maiduguri Diocese have been destroyed.

According to a report by on Shoebat.com, Father Jerome Ituah of Christ the King Catholic Parish in Kurudu said the buildings have been knocked down, but the people are not discouraged.

“You would always see them worshiping under rain and sun in open places at the site of their destroyed places of worship,” Ituah said, according to the report.

Heritage Foundation Africa Analyst Steven Bucci said that the numbers are consistent with the goals of Boko Haram, a jihadist militant group in Nigeria.

“They have been targeting Catholics and evangelicals right along. They are dedicated to spreading Islam by any means, and they prefer the bloodiest ways available,” Bucci said.

News of the destruction of 50 churches follows only weeks after it was reported that a Nigerian general proposed amnesty for some members of Boko Haram.

According to the report, “The national coordinator of Nigeria’s counter-terrorism center said the government is willing to embrace members of the militant group who renounce terrorism, Nigeria’s Daily Trust reported Tuesday.”

The report added, “Nigerian counter-terrorism chief Major Gen. Sarkin-Yaki Bello said the government would adopt some socio-economic measure to address extremism in the north and grant amnesty to members of Boko Haram.”

A report of an amnesty offer stands in sharp contrast to Boko Haram’s rejection of a call for peace. As WND reported last summer, the group answered “no.”

Human rights group International Christian Concern is reporting that gunmen stormed a Nigerian church in the town of Ottie and killed 19 people.

According to witnesses at the church, the method of attack and the tactics closely follow the operational methods of Boko Haram.

In a statement for the press, ICC reported that a Nigerian Christian leader who asked not to be identified put the blame completely on the jihadi group.

“Members of Boko Haram are killing Christians. They want to Islamize the North. Their targets are Christians, the security men and the police. Many Christians have already left the North,” the Christian leader said. “For those of us remaining in the North, we worship under the heavy presence of the military. The time the church was attacked was because the service was held on Monday.”

Bucci added that he’s not sure if the Nigerian government is even willing to stop Boko Haram.

International Christian Concern’s Africa specialist, William Stark, said that while he can’t vouch for the time period, destroying Catholic churches is part of Boko Haram’s method of operation.

“I do believe the recent attacks against Christians and foreigners in Nigeria have told us a lot about Boko Haram. From the outside, it looks like Boko Haram may be fracturing into different groups,” Stark said.

He said a short-lived ceasefire shows a rift in the ranks.

“Last month’s ceasefire agreement showed that there is a fracture between Boko Haram members that are ready to end the insurgency and others that are not willing to call a peace,” Stark said. “Also, this new group (Ansaru) that is targeting foreigners vs. Nigerians shows a new splinter group.”

Stark said changing names or groups won’t end the violence.

“Whether these groups continue to fracture or not, Christians will still be persecuted. There seems to be an agreement between all of the groups that Nigeria’s north shouldn’t allow Christians to exist and worship freely,” Stark said.

Former PLO operative turned Islam analyst and peace activist Walid Shoebat warned, “Look for the Islamic persecution of Christians in Nigeria – courtesy of Boko Haram – to increase.”

Ashraf Islam, 31, formerly known as Mark Townley, confessed to police he had "advanced plans" to kill the Prince the day after he was arrested in May.

Belfast-born Islam was held the day after Drummer Lee Rigby was murdered in Woolwich, and said the fourth in line to the throne “had blood on his hands” after two tours of duty in Afghanistan. He spent 10 days in Thailand building up his fitness, carrying out research on the internet and refining his plans, before flying to London to carry out the attack.

But he began to feel “scared and nervous” and walked into Hounslow police station in west London, where he confessed the murder plot.

He pleaded guilty to one count of 'making a threat to kill' when he appeared before magistrates on May 25, two days after giving himself up.

At a sentencing hearing at Isleworth Crown Court, Lynne Townley, prosecuting, said Islam told an officer he had spent time watching soldiers on Horse Guards Parade “and planned to disarm an officer whilst disguised as a tourist rather than bringing a gun into London”.

She added: “He used his time in Thailand to get his fitness to a higher level. He planned to send a telephone warning to create a diversion.”

A document found on Islam's computer said: "Aim for target. No civilians to be injured. Dress code is the biker look. Use low calibre pistol at close range. Not to be viewed as Islamist extremist."

After analysing his laptop police discovered a number of internet searches showing Islam had been researching Prince Harry's protection team, where he lived, his royal engagements and his whereabouts. A video found on the computer showed him making threats to kill Prince Harry to camera whilst he was in Malaysia.

The court was told that Islam became separated from his wife and young child in Belfast after making "several reckless financial decisions", and changed his name by deed poll in 2010 after converting to Islam. He later moved to Dublin because there was a bigger Muslim community there before travelling to Cairo to learn more about the religion.

Miss Townley said that after landing at Heathrow on a flight from Thailand Islam checked into a Travelodge hotel and at 11am the following morning, May 23, went to Hounslow police station and asked to speak to an officer. He told duty officer PC Boyne that he wanted to talk about a murder and asked to speak in private. Islam was led to a room, sat down and appeared to be calm, the court heard.

Miss Townley said: "He told the officer he had come to the station because he wanted to admit to a serious incident which he would commit the next day. "He said he was being monitored by UK security. He was asked for further details of what these plans were and he said it was the murder of a high profile person.

"The PC called a sergeant and counter terrorism officers. Islam was asked which particular person he intended to kill. It was at this point he said Prince Harry. He said he intended to kill Prince Harry tomorrow."

Islam told the officers he did not agree with the murder of Drummer Rigby, who was hacked to death in the street by two Islamic extremists, because the soldier was “a soft target”.

He said he believed hurting people was wrong but: "Prince Harry had chosen his path and had blood on his hands for power and profit."

Sentencing was adjourned until November 1 for an assessment of Islam’s mental health to be carried out.

Shakar died before they were found by a shepherd. Ishaq died in hospital.

There's been a very troubling development in the case of American Pastor Saeed Abedini, a U.S. citizen imprisoned in Iran because of his Christian faith.

The ACLJ has confirmed through Pastor Saeed's family members in Iran that he has been moved from Evin Prison in Tehran to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj - an even more dangerous prison where he faces life-threatening conditions and treatment.

A member of Pastor Saeed's family in Iran arrived at Evin Prison today for the regular weekly visit and was told that Pastor Saeed had been moved to this this prison outside of Tehran yesterday - about an hour and a half drive away. The family member travelled to Rajai Shahr Prison and was told that Pastor Saeed is imprisoned there and is not permitted to have any visitors.

The unexplained and abrupt transfer comes as turmoil intensifies inside Iran where anti-American sentiment was on full display today as hardline opponents of Iran's President Rouhani's historic outreach to the United States took to the streets to mark the anniversary of the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Iran in 1979.

In today's protests, crowds chanted "death to America" - direct opposition to President Rouhani's promise of moderation.

The ACLJ has confirmed that Pastor Saeed is now in one of the most dangerous wards of Rajai Shahr Prison - where violent prisoners are held - those who are imprisoned for murder and rape.

In 2005, Loes Bijnen, a Dutch Diplomat from the embassy in Tehran, described Rajai Shahr prison:

"Rajai Shahr is the place where political prisoners who are seen as a nuisance, are stowed away. Going to Karaj is a severe punishment. Once in there one stops to be a human being. One is put out of sight, even of human rights activists and the press. In Rajaï Shahr, political prisoners have to share cells with dangerous criminals like murderers, rapists and drug addicts who don't hesitate to attack their cell mates. They have nothing to lose: many of them are condemned to death anyway. Murders or unexplained deaths are a regular occurrence."

The transfer to this prison is a deeply disturbing development and can only be viewed as a move that puts Pastor Saeed's life directly at risk.

President Obama called Iranian President Rhouani in September - urging him to release Pastor Saeed.

This new and extremely dangerous development requires the full attention and focus of President Obama. He must speak out now - directly and forcefully - to save Pastor Saeed's life. Pastor Saeed’s life is in grave danger.

There's wide bi-partisan support for a critical resolution in the Senate calling for Pastor Saeed's release. And we continue to work to ensure passage of that measure.

But it is critical that President Obama take immediate diplomatic action to save the life of this U.S. citizen.

Religion of peace murders 59 children: Boko Haram strikes again

As initially reported by CBS News/Reuters, gunmen from Islamist group Boko Haram stormed a boarding school in northeast Nigeria overnight and killed 29 pupils, many of whom died in flames as the school was burned to the ground. But that number has been revised upward to 59 killed. “Some of the students bodies were burned to ashes,” Police Commissioner Sanusi Rufai said of the attack on the Federal Government college of Buni Yadi, a secondary school in Yobe state, near the state’s capital city of Damaturu. The Islamists, whose struggle for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria has killed thousands and made them the biggest threat to security in Africa’s top oil producer, increasingly are preying on the civilian population. Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is sinful” in the northern Hausa language, have frequently attacked schools in the past. A similar attack in June in the village of Mamudo left 22 students dead. In September, suspected Islamic extremists attacked an agricultural college in the same region, gunning down dozens of students as they slept in dormitories and torching classrooms.

More than 200 people were killed in two attacks last week, one in which militants razed a whole village and shot panicked residents as they tried to flee. They have also started abducting scores of girls, a new tactic reminiscent of Uganda’s cult-like Lord’s Resistance Army in decades past.

Some may read this story and ask who cares? I’m not advocating the United States police the world but if we refuse to comprehend the global threat of Islamic totalitarianism, we are only fooling ourselves.

This is not about occupation warfare but strike operations against these non-state, non-uniform belligerents, and we must interdict their flow of financial and materiel support. Along with that we must stop the PC mantra of not attacking their ideology, stop calling them extremists and refer to them as who they are, jihadists, Islamic terrorists.

I am waiting to hear condemnation from President Obama. Not holding my breath.

His name is Saamer Akhshabi, a liberal Ga Tech student from Iran. Last month he was found to have been making Molotov cocktails with gasoline and kerosine in his apartment. At some point he was set on fire and burned by one of these devices. He was taken to the hospital. He was sedated and the FBI was called. They took some of his electronics. End of story.

This story is not being covered in the national media at all.
The local media covered it for about 2 days and then it vanished.

I heard it once on the local radio about a month ago. 30 days later still no national news coverage and no answers.
(I do know he is a liberal OBAMA supporter from his twitter page) But why was he making bombs?

What is still disturbing is the fact that the FBI still has not figured out:

What he was up to?
Why was he making bombs in his apartment?
How did the fire start?
What caused the explosion?
Was he a Muslim?
Was he a terrorist?
Who was the target of the bombs?
Who did he hang out with?
Was he acting alone?

These are basic questions. 30 days of investigation across multiple agencies and they still don't know what he was doing with several containers of gasoline, kerosene, and a Molotov cocktail in his apartment?

If he was not making bombs, shouldn't the intended use be readily available? (Car, boat, Motor cycle, heating, cooking, or cleaning,painting) OR was he plaining to BLOW PEOPLE UP?

IF they don't know what he was doing...How then can they say he was not a threat?

Was this "brilliant" student simply trying to kill himself? Ok then why so many bottles?

Georgia Tech student dies from injuries after setting himself on fire last month

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has learned the Georgia Tech student severely burned by an incendiary device inside his midtown Atlanta apartment last month has died. Officials said Saamar Akhshabi died from his injuries this morning.

Police were called out to Akhshabi apartment last month after a reported explosion. When investigators arrived on scene they found the international student with severe burns to his hands, arms and chest. Inside Akhshabi’s apartment, investigators said they found a Molotov cocktail and several plastic bottles with flammable liquid inside.

Authorities said he had third-degree burns on 90 percent of his body. The incident report from that night revealed investigators took three laptops, three cellphones, two jump drives and homemade movies from Akhshabi's apartment.

Investigators have not said why they believe Akhshabi had the flammable materials inside his apartment.

According to the information received, the supposed Fulani herdsmen arrived at the christain [sic] dominated town at about 10pm on Friday and began their killing and burning operation till 3am Saturday morning – when the Nigerian military arrived.

A surviving eyewitness, who spoke 247ureports.com through the telephone, stated that the Fulani attackers were about 40 in number and were armed with dangerous knives, guns and other unidentifiable equipment. The survivor said that the attackers began with setting homes on fire – with the occupants. “Those that tried to escape were butchered or gun down”. He added that many of the dead, died as a result of fire.

It took the arrival of the Nigerian military at 4am for the supposed Fulani herdsmen to depart the area by 3am. This was according to a source who also noted that the military upon arrival refused to enter the bushes to comb the area for escaping Fulani attackers. He said the military only occupied the affected community – without taking proactive measures to hunt after the culprits.

It is recalled that in 2012, a similar attack was recording in the neighboring town of Dongondaya in Plateau State – where over 140 persons were butchered over night by supposed Fulani attackers. Both towns share a border – and both attack share striking similarities.

In 2011, according to security reports leaked out of from Abuja, a plan by unknown persons hiding under the guise of Fulani herdsmen were said to be on the offing – to be used to terrorize the Christian communities with the northern middle belt communities – suck [sic] southern Kaduna, communities in Plateau and others….

Heavily armed men entered three villages in the Kaura district in the south of the state.

A member of Kaduna's state assembly, Yakubu Bitiyong, visited the scene of the most recent attacks, which took place on Friday night.

Most of those killed in the villages of Ugwar Sankwai, Ungwan Gata and Chenshyi, had been so badly burned they could not be identified, he told the BBC. Houses were destroyed by fire and food supplies looted.

Mr Bitiyong said two of the attackers were also killed and their bodies taken away by police, who have sent in reinforcements.

The unrest is not connected with the continuing Islamist insurgency carried out by the Boko Haram group, which wants to impose Sharia law in the north.

The attacks in Kaduna came only a day after reports emerged of 69 people being killed over several days in northern Katsina state when dozens of armed men arrived in villages on motorbikes.

Violence in that area has also been blamed on Fulani herdsmen attacking local farmers.

Please acquaint yourself with the teachings of Islam. Try traveling in any Islamic nation, all of which regard non-Muslims as inferior human beings and are treated as such. Here's more about this Imam who is probably quite representative of this Tennessee mosque and "moderate Islam":

During a lecture on Shirk, or polytheism, Yasir Qadhi said that Jews and Christians are mushrikoon, or polytheists, because they have made partners with Allah. From Yasir Qadhi's perspective, only Muslims are monotheists.

He also claims that it is the responsibility of every single human being to bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and him alone.

Now pay attention here. Yasir Qadhi now will tell you what the result and command that stems from this twisted principle.

"And it is because of this same principle of monotheism that the prophet has been commanded to do jihad."

OK, now we're getting somewhere. Did all of you alleged "moderate" Muslims out there get that? Of course, you did. You know this. You know jihad is not just some internal struggle. It isn't about losing weight or getting in shape or some personal goal to be obtained. It is a holy war to advance the caliphate, the Islamic State.

While jihad is not the goal, Qadhi says, it is the means. "It is a means to establish monotheism on the land," Qadhi says.

Let me translate that for any who are still skeptical and buying into the lie that Islam is peaceful. Jihad is a means, a violent means, to an end, or goal, where Islam dominates the United States. In fact, Islam believes it will dominate the world, and I emphasize the word dominate.

Qadhi claims that he "has been commanded to fight the people until they testify."

"The whole reason why Allah has created us and sent the prophet and revealed the books, and differentiated us based upon this principle and allowed for jihad, is the basis and is the principle of monotheism," he continues. "The life and property of a "Mushrik" (someone who does not worship Allah) holds no value in the state of jihad."

As if that wasn't outlandish enough, Yasir Qadhi continues by attempting to differentiate that life is valuable at times, just not when jihad is going on. Well, who knows when that is going on?

Qadhi said, "The life and property of a mushrik [one who worships others besides Allah] holds no value in the state of jihad….which means if they don't sayla illaha illa Allah, their lives and property are halal" — that is, permitted to be taken by the Muslims. "The prophet, and I quoted the hadith before, 'I have been commanded to fight the people until" they profess that there is no god but Allah, and once they convert to Islam, "their life and property become protected from them."

What does all of that mean? I'm glad you asked and so is Yasir Qadhi. This "means if they don't" convert to Islam, "their life and property are halal (or in this case, free for the taking legally) for the muslims."

He then goes on to say that Christians commit "shirk," they are unbelievers, and they are polytheists.

Then he gets into ad hominem attacks on Christians. "They are filthy, a spiritual filthiness which can only be purified by the purity of tawheed (monotheism)." He then adds that Allah believes anyone who is not a Muslim is a "nudge." In other words, a nudge, in Arabic is "najasa," and it means that you are "feces, urine, filthy, or contaminated."

Well, I have news for Yasir Qadhi and all Muslims. The God of the Bible says you are filthy and you distort his teachings and he will come one day to judge you, but should you fail to repent and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ and seek to pursue a jihad on American soil, we will see your jihad and raise you another crusade if you seek to push this filthy, backwards, disgusting and immoral ideology of Islam on us.

Islam is Proving Western Multiculturalism Wrong

Scholar and writer, Raymond Ibrahim, has written persuasively about the degradation and slaughter of Christians under Islam:

· From one end of the Muslim world to another, Christians are suffering under the return of Sharia…Whenever Muslims are in power or getting more power, churches are outlawed, burned or bombed, while Bibles and crucifixes are confiscated and destroyed. Freedom of speech – to speak positively of Christianity or critically of Islam – is denied, often on pain of death…Christian women and children are routinely abducted, raped, and forced to convert to Islam. (Crucified Again, 8)

Why is this happening? Ibrahim writes:

· Islamic doctrines unequivocally create hostility toward Christians… Muslims around the world are quite deliberately enforcing the provisions of Sharia law against Christian worship, Christian evangelism, freedom of speech, and even freedom of conscience. But Christians also suffer violence at the hands of Muslims. (157)

Laws regarding apostasy from Islam are one example. Ibrahim cites Samuel M. Zwemer’s 1916 book Law of Apostasy in Islam:

· The law of apostasy… is not a dead letter. It is known to all Muslims from their youth up, if not in its detail of legal penalties, yet in its power to producing an attitude bitterly hostile toward converts to Christianity. What else could such a law produce except a fanatic attitude toward all who are not Muslims? The more Muhammadan a country or a community, the more does it despise the Christian. (159)

This hatred has been embodied by Islamic rituals. Ibrahim cites Travels in Arabian Deserta by C.M. Doughty, a British writer:

· Arabia’s Muslims would, circumambulating around the Ka’ba, supplicate Allah to “curse and destroy” the Jews and Christians.

Ibrahim, citing a present-day chant, argues that this practice remains unchanged:

O Allah vanquish the unjust Christians and the criminal Jews, the unjust traitors; strike them with your wrath; drape them with endless despair, unrelenting pain and unremitting ailment; fill their lives with sorrow and pain and end their lives in humiliation and oppression; inflict your tortures and punishments upon the unjust Christians and criminal Jews. This is our supplication, Allah; grant us our request! (159)

It is not surprising that, all around the world, Muslims act in accordance with these sentiments. Ibrahim quotes Marco Polo (13th century) to demonstrate that these same sentiments have always been part of Islam, pre-dating colonialism:

· “The inhabitants [of the Arabian Peninsula] are all Saracens [Muslims], and utterly detest the Christians.”

These sentiments are also expressed in Islamic education. Ibrahim cites Arabist E.W. Lane who traveled Egypt in 1820:

· “Children in Egypt are often taught, at school, a regular set of curses to denounce upon the persons and property of Christians, Jews, and all other unbelievers in the religion of Muhammad.” (161)

Ibrahim shows that, even today, these beliefs and practices are promoted in Islamic textbooks:

· In October 2012, the Daily Beast reported how the Saudi education system continues to indoctrinate children with hatred and incitement, especially against Christians and Jews, despite Saudi promises to reform their textbooks. For example, a ninth-grade textbook published by the Ministry of Education states, “The Jews and the Christians are enemies of the believers, and they cannot approve of Muslims.” An eighth-grade textbook says, “The Apes are the people of the Sabbath, the Jews; and the Swine are the infidels of the communion of Jesus, the Christians.”… Islam’s clerics remind authorities that these are teachings of Islam and that to suppress them is to suppress Islam – and to be declared apostate rulers. (162)

No wonder Saudis have done nothing about these textbooks. However, the same phenomenon is occurring in this country among the “moderates.” Ibrahim writes:

· Fox reported that “one such school outside Washington, D.C., uses textbooks teaching 11th graders that ‘the day of Judgment can’t come until Jesus Christ returns to Earth, breaks the cross and converts everyone to Islam, and until Muslims start attacking Jews.’ … Americans generally assume Islamic hate teaching resided ‘out there’ – in Cairo or Riyadh. (162)

It is therefore no surprise that the level of violence against Jews is skyrocketing in the West, especially around sizable Islamic populations. It is also no surprise that even the educated Muslim promotes terrorism.

Several years ago, mainstream media portrayed local opposition to the building of a mosque in Tennessee as bigots. The media also presented hand-picked gentle peace-loving Muslims as representatives of the embattled Islamic community. However, in April, a very different side of this mosque was revealed:

According to Ibrahim, this is not an anomaly. Instead, he argues that the more a Muslim becomes trained in Islamic writings, the more radicalized they become. Pakistan is a country rich in Madrassas but poor in tolerance for non-Muslims:

· A November 2011 report from the U.S. Commission of International Religious Freedom demonstrates that Pakistani school textbooks promote intolerance for Christians, Hindus, and all non-Muslims, and that most school teachers view non-Muslim minorities as “enemies of Islam”: “Religious minorities are often portrayed as inferior or second-class citizens who have been granted limited rights and privileges by generous Pakistani Muslims, for which they should be grateful.” (163)

This second-class status characterizes non-Muslims in the entire Islamic world, even in those countries that have secular constitutions. Ibrahim presents the case of Turkey:

· In February 2012 the Turkish Association of Protestant academics Churchs’ annual Report on Human Rights Violations noted, “Christians in Turkey continue to suffer attacks from private citizens, discrimination by lower-level government officials and vilification in both school textbooks and news media.” … Despite promising to reform its school textbooks, Turkey’s [now Islamic] Ministry of Education made no changes… “In fact, the negative and slanderous portrayal of Assyrians [Christian] has increased.” (163)

This is not surprising. Not only are these negative characterizations endemic to Islam’s holy books, but Islam will tolerate no criticism or reform. Ibrahim cites the example of the Turkish genocide against their Armenian Christians, which they still refuse to admit:

· Most objective historians agree that about 1.5 million Christian Armenians were systematically slaughtered during World War I in a deliberate policy of genocide ordered by the Ottoman government. (164)

If these horrors are merely anomalies in the distant past, and if Islam has genuinely confessed these as sins and has given evidence that they have moved beyond this, then there would be little reason to harp on these atrocities. However, denial reigns even in the West. Ibrahim writes:

· While negative depictions of non-Muslims proliferate in Islamic school textbooks, a whitewashed image of Islam predominates in Western education, particularly in the United States. According to a 2009 American Textbook Council report citing a number of popular textbooks used by American junior and senior high school students, “key subjects like jihad, Islamic law, [and] the status of women are whitewashed” because of political correctness, or out of fear of Muslim activists. A Western faith in multi-culturalism – that we can all be friends if we just show respect to other cultures – has supplanted truth and any pride in or promotion of Western traditions. According to many American textbooks:

This is from the same textbooks that allot whole chapters to bemoaning the Crusades and portraying Christians as intolerant fanatics (ignoring the fact that the Crusades were in response to jihadi conquests of Christian lands and centuries-long persecution of Christians.) NY man kills his wife for cooking the wrong dinner

In our latest episode of “How to Coexist with the Religion of Peace” we learn how followers deal with simple domestic issues — such as cooking the wrong dinner.

According to the New York Post, a Pakistani immigrant beat his wife to death in their Brooklyn home after she made the mistake of cooking him lentils for dinner instead of the hearty meal of goat meat that he craved, according to court papers. Noor Hussain, 75, was so outraged over the vegetarian fare that he pummeled his wife, Nazar Hussain, 66, with a stick until she was a “bloody mess,” according to prosecutors and court papers.

Jeepers, I remember that time Angela made some spicy hot jerk chicken knowing my constitution can’t tolerate spicy foods — I just ate the food and took antacid afterwards.

However, I guess Muslim men deal with things just a bit differently – and have trouble controlling their emotions. But what is more disconcerting is when the culture of coexistence and cultural relativism steps in.

Defense attorney Julie Clark admitted Hussain beat his wife — but argued that he is guilty “only” of manslaughter because he didn’t intend to kill her. In Pakistan, Clark said, beating one’s wife is customary. “He comes from a culture where he thinks this is appropriate conduct, where he can hit his wife,” Clark said in her opening statements at the Brooklyn Supreme Court bench trial. “He culturally believed he had the right to hit his wife and discipline his wife.”

Fortunately, the prosecuting attorney had a different perspective: “His intentions were to kill his wife,” Assistant District Attorney Sabeeha Madni said in court. “This was not a man who was trying to discipline his wife.”

Madni said that Hussain “brutally attacked his wife as she lay in her bed” — leaving deep lacerations on her head, arms and shoulders, and causing her brain to hemorrhage. He beat her with a stick that the family had found in the street and used to stir their laundry in a washtub, the court papers state. He then tried to clean up the blood that had splattered onto their bedroom wall before calling his son for help, Madni said.

You have to wonder if perhaps Asst. D.A. Madni has a little inside understanding of the culture that permits beating one’s wife — similar to Ayaan Hirsi Ali?

Madni also said Pakistani women who lived in the same building as the Hussains would testify about the beatings Nazar received at the hands of her husband. They have told us about years of abuse they witnessed,” Madni said.

Thanks God for Asst. D.A. Madni, and shame on Defense Attorney Clark. Yes, I know this barbaric animal deserves a defense. But to make the statement that “he culturally believed he had the right to hit his wife and discipline his wife” as part of it is insidious — actually ignorant, and enables yet more of this type of abhorrent and despicable behavior which is completely inconsistent with our Western values.

Beware, CAIR, and the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), which we reported on here, is no doubt watching this case, and will probably petition the sympathizers, Obama and Holder, for sharia courts in America.

Laugh not, ye merry men and women. They have such in jolly ol’ England.

Can you please tell me which world you were referring to, when, just the other day, you declared to Tumblr users (I am assuming that Tumblr is not a drug) that the world "is less violent than it has ever been."

I find it very confusing, because on the one hand you claim you learned about the IRS scandal and the Veteran's Affairs wait-list scandal from the media, and on the other hand, it appears you don't even pay attention to the world news.

Not only is the world not the safest it has ever been, it is the most dangerous it has ever been! And much of the downfall has taken place with your White House in deeper denial than the former Information Minister of Iraq—aka Baghdad Bob! (Remember him? "There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!" Well, you are starting to sound like him.) While you and John Kerry claim, "Peace and safety!" the world is falling into chaos.

Cairo Speech

It was just over five years ago, a freshly inaugurated Barack Obama confidently marched into Egypt to give your "A New Beginning" speech to the Muslim world. You should have called it the "I'm Not Bush" speech, because we all know that was its real purpose. That day you boldly proposed "a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect."

How's that working?

Not even the fact that you gave your very first post-inaugural interview to the Arab cable network, Al Arabia, (instead of NBC, ABC or CBS) won you any lasting good will in the Muslim world.

I don't believe the silly rumors that you are a secret Muslim. You are a humanist. And you were convinced that your human powers of charm and persuasion would cause the Arab world to lay down their weapons. Surely once they see that America is not all "cowboys clinging to their guns and religion." But you see, Mr. President, it takes two to tango, and I don't think Muslims are allowed to dance.

Nobel Peace Prize, Yet No Peace

For all your rhetoric you were richly rewarded, as if you actually changed something on the ground, but your reward did not come from the Arab countries seeking peace and repudiating radicalism. Instead, the Nobel Peace Prize folks crowned you the Prince of Peace 2009, and gave you a million dollars. How does their press release from 2009 sound now?

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. ... Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics. ... Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future."

My goodness, it's like they were declaring you Messiah! Sounds pretty funny now, right? If only al-Qaida had as much faith in you as the Norwegians did.

Let's just take a look at what has happened in "Obama's World" since you were awarded for your "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy."

◦There was an attack by al-Qaida on Sept. 11, 2012, on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that left an ambassador, a staffer and two Navy Seals dead—two Seals who were protecting U.S. diplomats, while they awaited help that never came. It was followed by, what many see, as a cover-up by your administration. You, Jay Carney and, who can forget, Sunday Morning Susan (Rice), emphatically and repeatedly declared—even after all the evidence was pointing to a coordinated terror attack—that it was merely a spontaneous uprising because of an anti-Islam YouTube video. (As if people getting so angry over a video that they kill Americans is so much better than terror.)

◦Civil war has erupted in Syria, resulting in more than 150,000 deaths of innocent noncombatants, creating a refugee crisis of nearly 10 million people. Even chemical weapons have been used to kill innocent children.

◦Egypt, the Middle East's largest country, went through a revolution that propelled the terror group Muslim Brotherhood into power. While they systematically persecuted their own people, trampling their democratic freedoms, your administration stood by them because they were "democratically elected." When the military responded to the pleas of the people, your team stood with the Hamas-aligned Brotherhood.

◦Also in Egypt, we continue to see the systemic persecution of Christians by Islamic groups. Read this harrowing account of the murdering a young Christian woman by an angry horde of Muslims.

◦Meanwhile in Iran, human rights are denied to citizens, and Christians are persecuted. Iran continues to make advances in their efforts to build a nuclear bomb, while John Kerry makes deals with the devil and declares triumph.

◦Mass shootings in America are becoming a regular occurrence. I remember when a mass shooting was shocking. Now it is just news.

◦In Nigeria, nearly 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped and could be sold as child brides. (Yes, in the "least violent time in world history," little girls are forced to marry older perverts.) The Nigerian terror group Boko Haram has continued to attack Christians in Nigeria, killing over 12,000 people.

◦Putin, thumbing his nose at you and the West, marched into Crimea and took sovereign Ukrainian territory by force. In a city where my family and I lived for a year, Odessa, 42 people were killed on May 4. Putin's actions are reminiscent of the Cold War and many analysts (not in your White House, of course) are convinced he wants to return Russia to her former glory—by force.

◦And this week, even as you proclaimed with the tumblrites, with your head fully entrenched in sand, that the world was the safest it has ever been, an al-Qaida-affiliated group known as The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, (ISIS) is taking over Iraq one city at time. This group is so violent, that even al-Qaida considers them radical! You were so eager to be the anti-Bush and get our troops out of Iraq, that you left the nation vulnerable.

Whether for or against the Iraq war, one thing is now clear: it was for naught. Reports of Iraqi policemen laying down their arms and deserting are a clear sign we had not finished the job. Today we see thousands of Iraqi soldiers have been executed by fellow Muslims. How in the world did your intelligence agencies not see this coming?

I could go on and talk about North Korea, Cuba, the three teens kidnapped by Hamas this week in Israel, and the spread of Islamic nationalism in Africa, but I know you are enjoying your vacation and don't want to bring you too close to the depressing reality, lest it affect your golf game.

My focus is on ministry. I write about faith. But every now and then, something happens in which I feel compelled to use this platform to speak out.

Your administration sought to befriend the Muslim world. It earned you a million bucks and a trophy, but resulted in zero change on the ground. In fact, the world is in its most perilous moment in history. Never has there been so many radicals on earth with weapons of this magnitude. Yes, quite the opposite of your utopian view.

With the handing over of five terrorists for a deserter at best, and a traitor at worst (without any counsel from Congress or the intelligence community), you have set the stage for American travelers—innocent men, women and children—to be kidnapped and held for ransom by the most vicious, evil people on earth. Two weeks after you released these killers, an American (and two Israelis) have been kidnapped by Hamas. While they may have been wanting to kidnap Israelis for some time, I can imagine that there were encouraged by your reckless, autonomous behavior.

No, Mr. President. You are dead wrong. The world is not the least violent it has ever been—it is the most violent. It is powder keg ready to explode—and this is your foreign affairs legacy.

48 Kenyans dead: Witness: Gunmen spared Muslims

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Dozens of extremists attacked a Kenyan coastal town for hours, killing those who couldn't answer questions about Islam and those who didn't know the Somali language, officials and witnesses said Monday. At least 48 people were killed and two hotels were set on fire.

The assault in Mpeketoni began Sunday night as residents watched World Cup matches on TV and lasted until early Monday, with little resistance put up by Kenya's security forces. Cars and buildings still smoldered at daybreak. Authorities blamed al-Shabab, Somalia's al-Qaida-linked terror group, who have vowed to carry out terror attacks to avenge the Kenyan military presence in Somali. Along with its Somali fighters, the group also has many Kenyan adherents.

Like the gunmen who attacked Nairobi's Westgate Mall last year, the Mpeketoni attackers gave life-or-death religious tests, a witness said, killing those who were not Muslim. "They came to our house at around 8 p.m. and asked us in Swahili whether we were Muslims. My husband told them we were Christians and they shot him in the head and chest," said Anne Gathigi.

Another resident, John Waweru, said his two brothers were killed because the attackers did not like that the brothers did not speak Somali. "My brother who stay next door to me were killed as I watched. I was peeping from my window and I clearly heard them speak to my brothers in Somali and it seems since my brothers did not meet their expectations, they sprayed them with bullets and moved on," said Waweru.

At the Breeze View Hotel, the gunmen pulled the men aside and ordered the women to watch as they killed them, saying it was what Kenyan troops are doing to Somali men inside Somalia, a police commander said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to share such details of the attack.

Kenya's top police commander, David Kimaiyo, said the death toll was 48. A police spokeswoman said authorities believe that several dozen attackers took part. Mpeketoni is about 20 miles (30 kilometers) southwest of the tourist center of Lamu. Any tourism in Mpeketoni is mostly local, with few foreigners visiting the area. The town is 60 miles (100 kilometers) from the Somali border and 360 miles (600 kilometers) from the capital, Nairobi.

Kenya has experienced a wave of gunfire and explosive attacks in recent months. The U.S., U.K., France, Australia, and Canada have all recently upgraded their terror threat warnings for the country. U.S. Marines behind sandbag bunkers are now stationed on the roof of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi. The Interior Ministry said that at about 8 p.m. Sunday, two minivans entered the town. Militants disembarked and began shooting. Kenya's National Disaster Operations Center said military surveillance planes were launched shortly afterward.

Lamu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the country's oldest continually inhabited town. The region saw a spate of kidnappings of foreign tourists in 2011 that Kenya said was part of its motivation for attacking al-Shabab in Somalia. Since those attacks and subsequent terror warnings, tourism has dropped off sharply around Lamu.

At least 67 people were killed in September when four al-Shabab gunmen attacked an upscale mall in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Kenya sent its troops to Somalia in October 2011.

Iraq crisis: ISIS militants tell families to hand over daughters for sex

ISIS fighters have told families in Iraq to hand over their daughters for sex, saying that the women must sleep with militants in order to cleanse themselves. According to the Mirror, leaflets in the captured cities of Mosul and Tikrit claim the women - virgins or not - must join jihad, or Holy war, and cleanse themselves by sleeping with militants.

Last year, a Saudi-based cleric issued a fatwa allowing jihadists to rape women in Syria. The practice is now happening in Iraq.

It is claimed that the militants have warned that those who refused to abide by the fatwa were violating God's will, and would be beaten and killed.

Meanwhile, ISIS fighters yesterday seized key towns near Baghdad and took control of three out of four border crossings to Syria this weekend, the report said.

Five churches, including COCIN, EYN and Deeper Life Bible Church, in Kwada village about 10 kilometres from Chibok town, were on Sunday attacked by Boko Haram insurgents.

The attackers, according to report from locals in Chibok, targeted the time when worshipers were ready for the Sunday Service.

“They killed and burnt houses after attacking worshipers in five churches in Kwada; after that, they advanced to Kautikari, less than 8 kilometres to Chibok town, whey they equally killed people and destroyed properties. “I’m not sure security agencies have gone to rescue the villagers, but I learnt that the insurgents are still in pursuit of the remaining villagers”, Mallam Yahi told DailyPost.

It was gathered that residents of Chibok town have also fled their homes, following the news of the attacks in Kwada and Kautikari. DailyPost recalls that few weeks ago, there was panic in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, following a letter purportedly written to them by the sect members.

A top local government official in Chibok town, who did not want his name in print revealed this to newsmen in Maiduguri the Borno State capital on Sunday. According to him, when they met the police with the letter, they were assured of maximum protection. He, however, said the police were also complaining of fuel for their vehicle. He said the local government had also assured the security operatives that they were going to buy fuel for them.

He said, “whenever Boko Haram members tell you that they are coming, they never fail to come. Our fears now is that we don’t know when and how they are going to come. “We are calling for prayers as well as on government to provide us with adequate security in Chibok”.

On the ongoing attacks in the area, it was gathered that a police officer, Peter Maina was called out during Sunday service in Church in Maiduguri, to be informed that his brother was killed at Kwada. Meanwhile, the Chibok Community in Maiduguri broke into a session of prayer on Sunday after receiving the news of ongoing attacks on the two villages. -

Sheik Shaker Elsayed, the imam of the Dar al-Hijrah Mosque in Falls Church, Va., advocated armed jihad before an Ethiopian Muslim group gathered at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va. last week.

“But they are last if anything is being distributed, unless it is arms for jihad,” Elsayed said. “We are the first to rush and run to defend our community and defend ourselves. The enemies of Allah are lining up; the question for us is, ‘Are we lining, or are we afraid because, because they may call us terrorists.’”

Being called “terrorists” should not matter to Muslims because Muslims are being called terrorists anyway, Elsayed said. “You are a terrorist because you are a Muslim,” Elsayed said. “Well give them a run for their money. Make it worth it. Make this title worth it, and be good a Muslim.”

So, I must ask, where are the statements of condemnation from CAIR, ISNA, MPAC, MAS, and the other U.S.-based Muslim Brotherhood front organizations? I think you all know the answer. Heck, where is the condemnation from President Barack Hussein Obama? You can bet that if the situation were reversed, the entire world would be screaming and condemning Christians — but hey, these are Muslims, they’re free to do as they wish. Just look at the condemnation of Israel, a sovereign state, being attacked by an Islamic terror group, Hamas. Whose side is conducting protests in Paris, London, and in front of the White House?

Oh, I know, I’m the “islamophobe” because I refuse to just sit back and take it. I’m a warmonger because I believe one must fight for survival, especially against an enemy sworn to your destruction. Say what you will, but I will not be called an apologist and certainly not a dhimmi.

We saw this before in the 20th Century when Jews were driven from their homes, given notices, and labelled — the same is happening now in Iraq. I apologize that we have a progressive, socialist, and Islamist sympathizer as a president, leader of a party that is godless and has enacted a war on Christianity all in the name of secular humanism. I apologize that the efforts of my fellow warrior brother and sisters who served and fought in Iraq now appear to have been for naught, at the expense of our freedom, security and safety. Sudanese Christian Meriam Ibrahim meets Pope Francis

Meriam Ibrahim, the woman who was sentenced to death in Sudan for refusing to renounce her Christian faith, arrived Thursday in Italy and met with Pope Francis in the Casa Santa Marta. During the meeting, she was accompanied by her family: Husband Daniel Wani, Martin (a year and a half), and Maya, born in prison two months ago.

Meriam Ibrahim was sentenced to death over charges of apostasy, since her father was a Muslim. She married her husband, a Christian, in a church ceremony in 2011. She was told if she accepted Islam she would be freed, but she told the court she would never apostatize from her Christian faith. Her death sentence was overturned in June, but she was then stopped at the airport and blocked from leaving the country by Sudanese officials who questioned the validity of her travel documents.

Pope Francis thanked Meriam for her "courageous witness to perseverance in the Faith.

But my wife Angela brought to my attention another kind of religious persecution at the hands of Muslims — this time from Pakistan. ” a woman, a child and a baby have died in Pakistan during riots over an allegedly blasphemous Facebook post. Their home was one of several set on fire in the city of Gujranwala on Sunday and another woman miscarried during the violence.”

“The woman, her seven-year-old granddaughter and her baby sister died of suffocation, according to police officials. The victims were members of the Ahmadi religious sect, who identify with Islam but are widely regarded as heretics in Pakistan and face persecution. Ahmadis consider themselves Muslim but believe in a prophet after Mohammed, the self-proclaimed Ghulam Ahmad, who was born in 1835. He is not defined as a “law-giving” prophet but claimed to propagate the laws enunciated by Mohammed.”

“The sect is defined as non-Muslim in Pakistan and a law in 1984 made it illegal for Ahmadis for identify as Muslims or “pose as Muslims.” They are banned from using Muslim greetings, saying Muslim prayers or referring to their places of worship as a mosque. Salim ud Din, a spokesman for the Ahmadi community, said it was the worst attack on the community since simultaneous attacks on Ahmadi places of worship killed 86 Ahmadis four years ago in Lahore.”

If there is any way I can make a comparison in America, it would be like Christians attacking and making laws against Seventh-Day Adventists or the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church).

The Independent reports “the episode began based upon rumors spreading that a young Ahmadi man, identified as Saqib, shared a blasphemous picture on Facebook, Pakistan Today reported. It allegedly included the Kaaba — the cuboid building at the centre of the Grand Mosque in Mecca that Muslims face in prayer – and contained nudity. A mob reportedly gathered outside Saqib’s house and started protesting. When they moved to a doctor’s house where Ahmadis were thought to be hiding, someone inside reportedly shot at the mob and injured the man who had started the Facebook rumor. The group then set five Ahmadi houses on fire, killing the woman and children and injuring several others.”

Pakistan’s blasphemy laws carry a potential death sentence for anyone accused of insulting Islam, although they also cover all religions and places of worship. However, in this case it seems Muslim mob violence carries the day and isn’t interrupted by the local police. Mr. Salim ud Din stated, “Police were there but just watching the burning. They didn’t do anything to stop the mob. First they looted their homes and shops and then they burnt the homes.”

Accusations of blasphemy are rocketing in Pakistan, from one in 2011 to at least 68 last year, according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. About 100 people have been accused of blasphemy so far this year. I think America went through this stage long ago during the Salem witch trials, and I’m quite sure now, as then, many of the accusations had everything to do with vendettas and little to do with faith.

We may be in the 21st Century but many still live back in the 7th Century. At least we have the 21st Century technology to bring awareness of these egregious actions worldwide. The question is whether or not the civilized world will do anything about it.

In recent months, the world shudders as the militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) carry on their violent spree. Originally this group was created by the US after the fall of Saddam Hussein, as a part of a project of establishing a “new democratic Iraq”. This project was doomed to fail, just like all the previous attempts by Washington of redrawing the Middle East map. From the very start the White House has been unable to recognize the potential danger of its “political formula” that was both inaccurate and explosive. A similar Western project that had been put in place “in the name of fighting the Soviet threat,” resulted in the rise of Al-Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban, both were funded with CIA money. One can also mention an attempt of putting the Muslim Brotherhood in power in Egypt and the fruitless efforts of toppling Bashar al-Assad in Syria, the latter move had been publicly supported by US Senator John McCain.

In other words, first the West is raising fanatics in areas of strategic interests, then it advises those fanatics to wage wars on its enemies, and then abruptly, Western rhetoric changes in order to launch and assault “against the world’s most dangerous evil.” Well, this modus operandi has been known since the World War II, when Harry Truman said that: “If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany, and that way let them kill as many as possible.”

In fact, the ISIL militants have been acting boldly since the first manifestations of Washington‘s sympathy towards them, at that point in time they were perceived as members of a “moderate opposition in Syria and Iraq.” But their leaders have become assured of their exceptionalism, assured that would enjoy impunity far too easily. From the first days of the Islamic State declaration, while mimicking US arrogance, they have been violating a number of universally recognized legal principles.

Firstly, it is worth noting that from the point of view of the theory of law, an organization can not be called a “state” since it is lacking a number of defining characteristics. The area ISIL claims to be their own is assigned to the recognized states, particularly Iraq and Syria. In addition, the Islamic State has stated that is going to occupy the Levant, which refers to the territories of a number of countries of the eastern Mediterranean that includes Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt and Turkey.

In addition, there is no body of law implemented in the Islamic State, a body that constitutes the binding rules of conduct that are essential in actual states. As for the Shariah law, that ISIL is citing most of the time, it is nothing more than a set of religious norms, the highest law of a Muslim state, but modern Muslim societies demand additional standards that would regulate legal relations.

Above all, the financial basis of any state in existence is provided by a system of taxes and fees. Muslim tax systems in its modern state is unable to satisfy the demands of the Islamic State. ISIL has no budget, no financial institutions, nothing… Cash inflow is provided by spontaneous donations made by individuals that sympathize with the Islamic State ideology, along with oil profits. It would be naive to assume that the international community would refuse to buy certain oil due to its origin. All of this revenue is serving a single purpose – to ensure that ISIL military and terrorist activities continue, the Islamic State is not going not to solve anybody’s social problems.

It should also be noted that the principle of justice is one of the governing principles of Islamic law. Islamic rulers have always been preoccupied with supporting their people, especially those who found themselves in dire need, in accordance with the lines of the Qur’an and Sunnah. However, the Islamic State couldn’t care less.

As for the population, which is yet another defining attribute of a state, it’s a big question as far the Islamic State is concerned. Any population must be able to reproduce, but all the activities of ISIL, as mentioned above, are aimed at fighting external enemies, hence its population is increased by the capture of women. But Islam has always condemned violence against women! Throughout its history Islamic civilization, especially the Sunnis, defended women’s right to marry voluntarily. The relationships between the sexes outside of marriage are generally considered adulterous, and it is believed to be one of the most grievous of sins in Islam. Violence against women of other religions is still a grave sin, since the Qur’an explicitly allows Muslim men to marry Jews and Christians, and such people have the same set of rights as Muslims.

The Islamic State can not be considered an Islamic organization. The ideas, principles and methods of the ISIL militants are in direct contradiction to the norms of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Violence, the killing of Muslims and the “people of the Book” (ahl al-Kitab), ie Jews and Christians, to whom God, as well as to Muslims, revealed his will and gave religious and moral instructions, have always been considered the second gravest sin in Islam. However, ISIL is clearly urging its followers to kill the Shiites. Hence, this organization is using Islam as a cover when in reality it has nothing in common with this religion.

So what is attracting people from all over the world to join the ranks of the ISIL militants? Primarily their impunity.

At the present stage of development of international relations any seizure of territory is recognized as an act of aggression that could lead to the consequent use of force against the aggressor. However, the example of ISIL shows how helplessness the international community is today. The organization was created in Iraq, once the United States initiated the destruction of this state. At a certain point in time it could no longer be fully recognized as a state, since there were no government bodies, the Parliament ceased to exist hence there were no laws to be passed, while the real power was divided between various factions. As a result, a country that had been completely torn apart by internal feud, was overrun by radical Islamists. And since there was nobody to stop ISIL militants in Iraq it has been transformed into a springboard for the further spread of the Islamic State’s wicked ideas. Now, once they received the financial assistance and the support they needed, after capturing oil and gas production lines, ISIL militants are ready to drown the Levant in blood.

Since the territory occupied by ISIL militants is officially attributed to other states (Iraq, Syria), in order to carry out air strikes, or any other form of military operation, a state or a group of states must obtain the permission of Iraq and Syria along with the UN Security Council first. Given the fact that territories that the Islamic State believes to be its own are populated by radical men and women prisoners, any strike against this group can potentially endanger civilian lives. In addition, the countries of the Middle East, North Africa and even Central Asia have already been infiltrated by ISIL agents that are preparing local radicals to revolt against their governments once the time is right.

But the Muslim states are not going to suffer the plots of ISIL alone, the EU, and even the United States are next in line. Once jihadists with real combat experience begin returning home the problem of “domestic terrorism” will become as topical as it can possibly be. Especially if one is to consider the statements the Islamic State has made about its forthcoming attacks. Especially when such plans have already been successfully executed in the London Underground.

That is why the fight against ISIL should not be based on the illegal air strikes Washington has been carrying out in Iraq and Syria, but instead it should be a joint effort that would target radical extremism wherever it manifests itself.

Religion of peace strikes again: Pakistani Christian man and pregnant wife burned alive

Yesterday we shared the words spoken by President Obama’s special envoy on ISIS, retired Marine General Allen, who told a gathering on Monday in Kuwait, “we must also tell a positive story, one that highlights our respect – our profound respect for Islam’s proud traditions, its rich history, and celebration of scholarship and family and community.”

Sadly today I was emailed a copy of a letter sent by Catholic League President Bill Donahue to President Barack Hussein Obama on a most heinous and sickening incident in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan — relating to its archaic and barbaric blasphemy laws.

As reported by the Catholic News Agency, “The reported killing of a Christian couple in Pakistan by a mob on Tuesday has sparked calls for the nation’s government to protect its people, and especially its minorities. “The burning alive of a Christian couple is a test case for our government. Our government must provide protection to all citizens and especially to the poor and downtrodden Christians,” Fr. James Channan, O.P., director of the Peace Center Lahore, told CNA Nov. 4 in an email interview.”

“That morning, Shahzad Masih and his wife Shama, a Christian couple, were allegedly killed and their bodies burned by a mob after they were accused of desecrating the Quran. The couple lived in Kot Radha Kishan, a city located nearly 40 miles southwest of Lahore. The wife Shama was pregnant, and the couple had three additional children.”

I challenged the politicized words of General Allen as bad policy and reiterate that position. A year ago in the summer I had the honor to meet a young Pakistani Christian woman named Julie Aftab who, because of her refusal to convert to Islam was attacked and had acid thrown on her and down her throat.

And even when taken to the hospital for treatment, she was shot because the rumor was spread that she had offended Islam — the Muslim doctors refused to treat her. Blessings of God that Julie was rescued from that horrific situation and brought to America. She now lives in Houston and I understand she’s about to be married and has finished her undergrad studies there.

What manner of barbarism is this? And what manner of cowardice refuses to denounce it, preferring games of political correctness? Another bad policy.

This recent story from Pakistan where the Christian community lives in constant fear is chilling.

Here is a short synopsis,
“Legal Evangelical Association Development, a Pakistani minority rights group, was told by Muhammad Rafique, one of the Masihs’ coworkers, that following the recent death of Shahzad’s father, Shama collected some of his things, burning them and throwing the ashes in the garbage. According to Rafique, their employer noticed this, and charged that some of the burnt pages were from the Quran; he then detained them. They owed him money, and he refused to release them without being paid. It was then announced from local mosques that the couple had desecrated the Quran, and a mob forced their way into the room where the Masihs were held, beat them, and then burnt them alive in the kiln’s furnace.”

I suppose even presenting this story will once again earn me the label of “islamophobe” — feel free. I will not relent in reporting this savage barbarism that we believe can be conquered by appeasement, dismissal or calling a different name. Is this a Pakistani version of “workplace violence?” I encourage you all to copy this letter and send it to the White House, attention President Obama, State Department attention John Kerry, office of Senator Mitch McConnell, and office of House Speaker John Boehner, and demand cutting off all foreign aid to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan until they revoke their insidious blasphemy laws and also release the Pakistani doctor who identified Obama bin Laden — Dr. Shakil Afridi.

We must stand for human rights and I am waiting to hear from the women’s rights groups appalled at the heinous torture and murder of Shama and her unborn child.

A Brief History of Islam

In 624, Mohammed led a raid for booty and plunder against a Meccan caravan, killing 70 Meccans for mere material gain. Between 630 A.D. and the death of Mohammed in 632 A.D., Muslims -- on at least one occasion led by Mohammed -- had conquered the bulk of western Arabia and southern Palestine through approximately a dozen separate invasions and bloody conquests. These conquests were in large part "Holy wars," putting the lie to another statement in the U.S. News article that proclaimed the Crusades "The First Holy War," as if the Christians had invented the concept of a holy war. After Mohammed's death in 632, the new Muslim caliph, Abu Bakr, launched Islam into almost 1,500 years of continual imperialist, colonialist, bloody conquest and subjugation of others through invasion and war, a role Islam continues to this very day.

You will note the string of adjectives and may have some objection to my using them. They are used because they are the absolute truth. Anyone denying them is a victim of PC thinking, ignorant of history, or lying to protect Islam. Let us take each word separately before we proceed further in our true history of the relationship between the Christian west and the Islamic east.

Imperialistic

The Muslim wars of imperialist conquest have been launched for almost 1,500 years against hundreds of nations, over millions of square miles (significantly larger than the British Empire at its peak). The lust for Muslim imperialist conquest stretched from southern France to the Philippines, from Austria to Nigeria, and from central Asia to New Guinea. This is the classic definition of imperialism -- "the policy and practice of seeking to dominate the economic and political affairs of weaker countries."

Colonialist

The Muslim goal was to have a central government, first at Damascus, and then at Baghdad -- later at Cairo, Istanbul, or other imperial centers. The local governors, judges, and other rulers were appointed by the central imperial authorities for far off colonies. Islamic law was introduced as the senior law, whether or not wanted by the local people. Arabic was introduced as the rulers' language, and the local language frequently disappeared. Two classes of residents were established. The native residents paid a tax that their colonialist rulers did not have to pay.

Although the law differed in different places, the following are examples of colonialist laws to which colonized Christians and Jews were made subject to over the years:

Christians and Jews could not bear arms -- Muslims could;
Christians and Jews could not ride horses -- Muslims could;
Christians and Jews had to get permission to build -- Muslims did not;
Christians and Jews had to pay certain taxes which Muslims did not;
Christians could not proselytize -- Muslims could;
Christians and Jews had to bow to their Muslim masters when they paid their taxes; and
Christians and Jews had to live under the law set forth in the Koran, not under either their own religious or secular law.

In each case, these laws allowed the local conquered people less freedom than was allowed the conquering colonialist rulers. Even non-Arab Muslim inhabitants of the conquered lands became second class citizens behind the ruling Arabs. This is the classic definition of colonialist -- "a group of people who settle in a distant territory from the state having jurisdiction or control over it and who remain under the political jurisdiction of their native land."

We will talk about "bloody" as we proceed. Because the U.S. News article related only to the Christian west against the Muslim east, except in this paragraph I will not describe the almost 1,500 years of Muslim imperialistic, colonialist, bloody conquest and subjugation of others through invasion and war to the east of Arabia in Iraq, Persia, and much further eastward, which continues to this day.

In any event, because it was the closest geographically, Palestine was the first Western non-Arab area invaded in the Muslim imperialist, colonialist, bloody conquest and subjugation of others. At the time, Palestine was under the rule of the so-called Eastern Roman Empire, ruled from Istanbul by Greek speaking people, and was Eastern Orthodox Catholic. The Eastern Orthodox rule was despotic and the Eastern Roman Empire was in serious decline. The Eastern Orthodox rulers were despots, and in Palestine had subjugated the large population of local Jews and Monophysite Christians. Because the Orthodox were imperialist, colonialist, and bloody, and majored in religious persecution to boot, the Muslim imperialist, colonialist, bloody conquest and subjugation of Palestine, and then Egypt, was made easier. Because of Orthodox weakness and the relative speed of the conquest of Palestine and Israel, I have often seen this Muslim, imperialist, colonialist bloody conquest described by Muslim and PC writers as "peaceful" or "bloodless." This statement is simply not true.

The Muslim imperialist, colonialist, bloody conquest and subjugation of Palestine began with a battle, the August 20, 636, battle of Yarmk (it is believed that 75,000 soldiers took part -- hardly bloodless). With the help of the local Jews who welcomed the Muslims as liberators, the Muslims had subjugated the remainder of Palestine but had not been able to capture Jerusalem. Beginning in July 637, the Muslims began a siege of Jerusalem which lasted for five (hardly bloodless) months before Jerusalem fell in February 638. Arabs did not sack the city, and the Arab soldiers were apparently kept in tight control by their leaders. No destruction was permitted. This was indeed a triumph of civilized control, if imperialism, colonization, and bloody conquest can ever be said to be "civilized." It was at this conquest that many significant hallmarks of Muslim colonialism began. The conquered Christian and Jewish people were made to pay a tribute to the colonialist Muslims. In addition, Baghdad used the imperialist, colonialist, bloody wars of conquest throughout the life of its empire to provide the Caliphate with a steady stream of slaves, many of whom were made eunuchs.

The Muslim conquest of (Christian) North Africa went relatively easily until the native peoples of North Africa (most importantly the Berbers) were encountered west of Egypt. The North African people fought so strongly against the Muslims that the Muslim imperialist, colonialist, bloody conquest in the west was brought to an almost complete stop between Tripoli and Carthage for more than a quarter century. The Muslims broke through in a series of bloody battles followed by bloody (revenge) massacres of the Muslim's (largely Christian) opponents. This Muslim imperialist, colonialist, bloody conquest continued through North Africa and through what is now Spain, Portugal, and southern France, until they were stopped at the battle of Poiters (hardly bloodless) in the middle of France.

I believe that if I had the time, I could show that the Muslims, in their western imperialist, colonialist, bloody conquests, killed two to three times as many Christians as the Christians killed Muslims in all of the Crusades combined.

But let us return to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem

The U.S. News article states that after Saladin conquered Jerusalem, "the victorious Saladin forbade acts of vengeance. There were no more deaths, no violence." True, as far as it goes. The article goes on to say, "most Muslims [will] tell you about Saladin and his generosity in the face of Christian aggression and hatred." Thus, the PC people and the Muslims ignore 450 years of prior Muslim aggression and approach the Crusades as being Christian or Western aggression against Islam, beginning out of the blue, without any prior history. Let us go back to the Muslim colonialist occupation of Jerusalem.

When we left our truthful history of Jerusalem, the Muslims, headquartered in Arabia, had just captured Jerusalem. For approximately 100 years, chiefly under the Umayyads, Jerusalem prospered under Muslim rule. Under the succeeding Abbasids, Jerusalem began to decline -- beginning at approximately 725 A.D. The occasion, among other things, was the decline of the central Muslim government, the breaking away from Arabia of far-flung provinces, the growth of warlike revolutionary groups, the growth of extremist Muslim sects, and, perhaps most important, the decision (relatively new) that Muslims had an obligation to convert all Christians and Jews (and "other pagans") to Islam. Thereafter, the true colonial nature of Jerusalem became more apparent. The Abbasids drained wealth from Jerusalem to Baghdad for the benefit of the caliphs, and Jerusalem declined economically. The language of the government became Arabic, and forcible conversion to Islam became the Muslim policy.

In approximately 750, the Caliph destroyed the walls of Jerusalem, leaving it defenseless (they were later rebuilt, in time to defend against the Crusaders). The history of the following three hundred years is too complex and too tangled to describe in a single paragraph. Jerusalem and its Christian and Jewish majority suffered greatly during alternating periods of peace and war. Among the happenings were repeated Muslim destruction of the countryside of Israel (970-983, and 1024-1077) of Jerusalem; the wholesale destruction by the Muslims of Christian churches -- sometimes at the direct order of the Caliph, as in 1003, and sometimes by Muslim mobs; the total destruction of Jerusalem by the Caliph of Cairo in the early 1020s; building small mosques on the top of Christian churches; enforcing the Muslim laws limiting the height of Christian churches; attacking and robbing Christian pilgrims from Europe; attacking Christian processions in the streets of Jerusalem; etc.

Why the change after nearly 100 years of mostly peaceful Muslim rule? From what I read, there is a general view among the historians that the caliphs had begun to add a religious importance to their conquests, setting conversion to Islam as an important priority; their later caliphs had no first-hand remembrance of Mohammed; the vast distances of the empire led to independent rulers being established in Spain, North Africa, Cairo, Asia Minor, etc.; and the instability of the caliphates and resulting civil wars.

The point about conversion to Islam I find particularly interesting. Many historians believe that the first one hundred years of Muslim conquest were imperialist and colonialist only with little significant forced conversion content. With respect to Jerusalem, there was a particular problem in the fact that generally the Christians and their churches (and to a lesser degree, the Jews) were significantly wealthier than the Muslims. This was largely because beginning in the early 800s with Charlemaigne, Europe adopted a sort of prototype "foreign aid" program for the churches located at the holy places in Jerusalem, where, to the embarrassment of the Muslims, Christian churches and monasteries outshone their Muslim rivals. Many of these churches and monasteries were run by western religious orders reporting directly to Rome under western leaders appointed by Rome (more were subject to Constantinople). Literally thousands of European Christian pilgrims made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem from such places as Germany, France, and Hungary (particularly in the years 1000, 1033, 1064, and 1099). Finally, Muslim rulers and European rulers frequently sought to enter into treaties of support with each other. As a result, Christian churches became the target of Muslims when enemies of those with whom there were European ties were victorious in a civil war. From time to time, Christian churches were rebuilt with Muslim funds when pro-western rulers came to power.

So much for the PC, U.S. News, Muslim outright lie that begins with the statement, "During the Crusades, East and West first met," and that later in the article called the Crusades, "the first major clash between Islam and Western Christendom." What about the long, prior conquest by Islam of Spain and Portugal? What about the battle of Portiers?

The following is just an aside, which I cannot prove, but I have noticed that PC and Muslim statements frequently cut off history when it is not in their favor. Thus, the article gives credence to the widespread belief in Islam that east-west history began with the Crusades. See also as an example of this tendency to begin history where it is convenient, today's Muslim description of the current Israeli occupation of the West Bank without mentioning the fact that the current occupation was caused by the widespread cold-blooded murder of Israeli civilians by Muslims.

But let us move on to the Crusades themselves.

The Crusades

First, a word about my personal view of the Crusades. I believe that the murderous and pillaging acts of the Crusaders when they entered Jerusalem were barbaric, unchristian, and evil. This is particularly so as those barbaric, unchristian, and evil acts were carried on in the name of a religion of peace, love, and forgiveness. I believe that the vast bulk of thinking Christians agree with me. I cite as evidence the large numbers of Christians who have recently taken long pilgrimages in the footsteps of the Crusaders, repenting for the Crusader's acts, seeking for forgiveness, and giving penance for the Crusader's barbaric, unchristian, and evil acts.

A question occurs to me here. How many Muslim groups have taken long pilgrimages in the footsteps of the Muslim conquest repenting, seeking for forgiveness, and giving penance for the Muslims imperialist, colonialist, and bloody conquest of Palestine, Egypt, Syria, North Africa, and Spain? This is particularly important as the U.S. News article claims, "For [Muslims] imperialism is a dirty word" Where is Muslim repentance for its imperialism, geographically the largest in all of history, which permits Muslims to call Western imperialism a dirty word?

Let us rewrite the beginning of the U.S. News article as follows: "In 1095, after suffering from the murderous invasions of Muslim conquerors who killed tens of thousands of Christians through four-and-one-half centuries of Muslim imperialist, colonialist conquest, made slaves and eunuchs of Christians for the pleasure of the caliphs, burned down or sacked the holiest churches in Christendom, robbed and killed thousands of Christians on holy pilgrimage, brutally sacked and pillaged Jerusalem, and pillaged the countryside of Israel, western Europe, under the leadership of the Pope, decided to free the people of the Holy Land from their brutal masters and reclaim Christianity's holiest places for free Christian worship."

Now, I fully realize that the previous paragraph is one-sided, that the six centuries of Muslim colonial, imperialist occupation were more complex than are shown in the previous paragraphs, and that the Christians were not always blameless, little babes. However, the previous paragraph has the benefit of not being an outright lie, which is more than I can say for the U.S. News article.

To beat the dog one more time, you may have noted that I stated above that Muslim imperialism has continued until the present. Muslim imperialism has continued without any let-up from ten years before Mohammed's death until today.

Consider also the Muhgal conquest of Northern India in the early 1600s. But today? Of course! In the 20th century alone:

1. Muslim Turkey has expelled approximately 1,500,000 Greeks from its empire in the east and replaced them with Turks. They have massacred approximately 2 million Armenians and replaced them with Turks in the west.

2. Muslim Turkey has invaded and occupied northern Cyprus, displacing the Greeks living there.

3. Muslim northern Sudan has conquered much of southern Sudan, literally enslaving its Christian and pagan population.

4. Indonesian imperialism has occupied all of non-Islamic western New Guinea and incorporated into Indonesia.

5. Muslim Indonesia has invaded and conquered Christian East Timor with horrible loss of life.

6. This very day, Muslim Indonesia is attempting to destroy Christianity in what used to be called the Celebes.

7. A half-dozen Arab countries have fought two to four wars (depending how you count) in an attempt to destroy Israel and occupy its territory, and is currently continuing the attempt this very day with the publicly voted consent of 55 of the world's 57 Islamic nations.

8. For no good reason, Muslim Libya has blown up western aircraft, killing many civilians.

9. Muslim Iraq, in an imperialist war of aggression, invaded and occupied Muslim Kuwait.

10. Muslim Iraq, in an imperialist act of aggression, invaded Muslim Iran with a resulting (some estimates say) death of 2 million people.

11. Muslim Albania, this very minute, is attempting to enlarge its borders at Christian Macedonia's expense.

12. Muslim Northern Nigeria has been (and is currently) an aggressor against the Christian south.

13. Muslims expelled approximately 800,000 Jews from their homelands between 1947 and 1955.

14. During Jordan's occupation of the West Bank, the kingdom undertook an unsuccessful attempt to make Jerusalem a Muslim city by forcing out approximately 10,000 Christian inhabitants.

Yes, I know that the reverse has been true. For example, Christian Serbia entered and massacred Bosnian Muslims. The western response was instructive. The west sent troops to protect the Muslims. Serbia gave up its leader to be tried for the crime by an international panel. Will Indonesia do the same with respect to Timor? Or Sudan with respect to southern Sudan?

Question: What is the title of the shortest book in the world? Answer: "The list of Muslim nations who have risked the lives of their soldiers to protect (as with the U.S. protection of Muslims in Kuwait) Christian or Jewish citizens from Muslim imperialism."

Yes, I also know that in the 20th century the west fought two of the bloodiest wars in history. But in the past more than 55 years, the west has developed methods that have led to peace among the west, and all but totally ended western imperialism and colonialism. With former colonies having a large majority in the UN, and the example of the west before it, Islam has continued its imperialist, colonial, bloody wars unabated.

One final point. Muslims base their claim to the city of Jerusalem upon the belief that Jerusalem has been a Muslim city for centuries. It may be that Muslims were never a majority in Jerusalem. We cannot prove this for all time periods, but we know that Muslims were a minority in the first several centuries after the Muslim imperialist conquest and during the century of Christian occupation during the Crusades. And we know that in the Middle Ages, Jerusalem was not considered important to the Muslims, but it was to the Christians and Jews. The Muslims made cities other than Jerusalem the capital of their Palestinian colony. Many Caliphs never even visited Jerusalem. Therefore, there was a steady stream of Jewish and Christian (but not Muslim) immigrants into Jerusalem throughout the Middle Ages, including a major immigration of Karaite Jews in the late eighth and early ninth centuries, and a steady stream of Armenians for hundreds of years, until there were so many Armenians that an Armenian Quarter was established in Jerusalem. Finally, we know that for at least more than the last 160 years, Muslims were a clear minority in Jerusalem. The Muslim Ottomans, and then the British and Israelis, kept careful census record showing the following percentages of Muslim population in Jerusalem:

1844 -- 33%

1896 -- 19%

1910 -- 13%

1922 -- 22%

1931 -- 22%

1948 -- 24%

1967 -- 21%

1972 -- 23%

1992 -- 25%

Al-Sisi, on the other hand, called for a meeting Jan.1 at Islam’s leading seminary and questioned traditional doctrines of the religion.

He went on to say during the speech:

Well, let's do a simple analysis.

Did GITMO inspire the heinous execution of Leon Klinghoffer -- who was thrown off the cruise ship Achilles Lauro sitting in his wheelchair?

Did GITMO inspire the Beirut barracks bombing in October 1983?

Did GITMO inspire the Khobar towers bombing or the bombing of the US Embassies in Africa?

Did GITMO inspire the bombing of the USS Cole, the 1993 World Trade Towers, or September 11, 2001?

Did GITMO inspire Nidal Hasan to stand upon a table shouting "Allahu Akhbar" while gunning down unarmed Soldiers and DA civilians?

Wood puts in context the verse often cited by politicians and media pundits to affirm Islam is peaceful. They claim:

Qur'an Sura 5:32 – For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men; and certainly Our apostles came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land.

This is cited "to the children of Israel," not to Muslims. In fact, it is taken from the Mishnah Sanhedrin, which reads, "Adam was created alone to teach you that if anyone destroys one life, Scripture recokons it as if he had destroyed a whole world; conversely, if anyone preserves on life, Scripture reckons it as if he had preserved a whole world."

However, Muslims like Rep. Keith Ellison does not want to expose what is commanded of Muslims. He calls for context. So, Wood gives him context and here is what is in the very next verse, which is not about Israel, but about Muslims.

Qur'an Sura 5:33 – The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His apostle and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement.

You see my friends Islam quotes out of context the verse and applies something meant for Israel to themselves, but they never tell you what they are commanded to do and why.

Appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press" with Chuck Todd, McDonough said the U.S. continues to "conduct very important operations" in Yemen, even though the U.S.-backed government has fallen.

Asked why President Obama and his team refuse to use the term "radical Islam," McDonough said no one is denying that the terrorists are Muslim.

"These are Muslims who claim that their warped view of their ideology is what informed their actions, their hateful ideology in this instance. What we simply do not believe, Chuck, is that they should somehow be seen as representatives of Islam. They are not.

"It's one of the world's great religions. It's -- the overwhelming majority of Muslims do not abide by this hateful ideology so we just thought not give them any kind of belief that somehow they deserve that title."

1 American dead in Libyan hotel attack

EARLIER STORY: TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Gunmen stormed a luxury hotel in Libya's capital Tuesday, killing at least five foreigners and three guards, authorities said.

The attack, which included a car bombing, struck the Corinthia Hotel, which sits along the Mediterranean Sea.

Mahmoud Hamza, commander of the so-called Special Deterrent Force, told private satellite television station al-Nabaa that the situation was "under control" Tuesday afternoon, though he couldn't confirm the whereabouts of the gunmen. He also said five foreigners were killed, without elaborating.

Another security official earlier said the gunmen killed three guards and took hostages, but had no further information on the captives' identities. He also said that two commercial landmark towers behind the hotel were evacuated out of security concerns. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters.

A hotel staffer said the attack began when five masked gunmen wearing bulletproof vests stormed the hotel after security guards at the hotel's gate tried to stop them. He said they entered the hotel and fired randomly at the staff in the lobby.

The staffer said the gunmen fired in his direction when he opened his door to look out. He said he joined the rest of the staff and foreign guests fleeing out the hotel's back doors into the parking lot.

When they got there, he said a car bomb exploded in the parking lot, only a hundred meters (yards) away. He said this came after a protection force entered the lobby and opened fire on the attackers. He said two guards were immediately killed. The staffer spoke on condition of anonymity because he feared being targeted later by militants. He said the car bomb left at least five cars in the parking lot burned and damaged some windows in the hotel's facade.

He said the hotel had Italian, British and Turkish guests, but the hotel was largely empty at the time of the attack. He said the militia-backed Prime Minister Omar al-Hassi usually resides at the hotel, but was not there Tuesday. Al-Hassi's security guards also weren't there, he said. The hotel previously came under attack in 2013 when a former prime minister was abducted there.

Since the ouster and 2011 killing of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, the country has been torn among competing militias and tribes vying for power. Libya's post-Gadhafi transition has collapsed, with two rival governments and parliaments — each backed by different militias — ruling in the country's eastern and western regions. Tripoli has been hit with series of car bombs and shootings amid the turmoil.

The Malta-owned hotel is also where the United Nations support mission in Libya holds its meetings. The mission is currently hosting political talks with rival Libyan groups in Geneva.

It seems like something one would be hard pressed to disagree with: the word “coexist,” written on a wall using a Muslim crescent as the letter “C,” a Star of David as the letter “X,” and a Christian cross as a “T.”

But in Paris, this particular iteration of the popular inscription—here, created by the street artist Combo, who also pasted a life-size photo of himself next to it—didn’t go down well with everybody. Le Monde reports that four young people asked the artist to remove it last weekend, and beat him up severely when he refused to do so.

Combo ended up with a dislocated shoulder and many bruises.

The attack is characteristic of the inter-religious tensions that plague France and have been exacerbated by the Charlie Hebdo tragedy (see 12 Killed at Magazine Previously Attacked for Satirical Cartoons http://news.artnet.com/people/12-killed-at-magazine-previously-attacked-for-satirical-cartoons-213867 ). Combo declined to discuss the identity of his assailants. “It would only add fuel to the fire,” he told the French newspaper.

A former adman, the artist has taken his politically-charged street art to Los Angeles and Hong Kong, where he pasted printouts of web pages forbidden by the Chinese government. “My pieces function in a disruptive manner, they surprise, and appear up where they shouldn’t be,” he said.

During a residency in Bayreuth, he grew his beard and started wearing the traditional Muslim dress—not because he was increasingly attracted to a more fundamentalist version of Islam, but, again, to disrupt established codes. To his friends asking him whether he was “going to jihad” in Lebanon, he answered, “I’m going to ji-art.”

Jihandists have no interest at all in coexistence. They want domination. That’s pretty simple, but beyond the understanding of people who pride themselves in their sophistication. Cobo is lucky to be alive. Let’s hope he wises up.

Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi, a Memphis Imam based in Tennessee, preaches openly about what Islam truly is. He makes no bones about thinking that anyone other than a Muslim doesn’t deserve anything and are less than Muslims. In fact, part of Yasir Qadhi’s preaching includes rhetoric that says non-Muslims lives are forfeit and their property is legal for Muslims to take in jihad, (and this would include women as sex slaves) Recently Yasir Qadhi said that “Jews and Christians filthy, their lives and property can be taken in jihad by the Muslims.”

Yasir Qadhi is not only a Memphil Imam, but is is also the Dean of Academic Affairs at the Al-Maghrib Institute. He is a hafiz (has memorized the Qur’an) and he has an M.A. in the Islamic Creed and a B.A. in Islamic Sciences from Islamic University of Medina, as well as a master’s and a doctorate in Islamic Studies from Yale. During a lecture on Shirk, or polytheism, Yasir Qadhi said that Jews and Christians are mushrikoon, or polytheists, because they have made partners with Allah. From Yasir Qadhi’s perspective, only Muslims are monotheists.

He also claims that it is the responsibility of every single human being to bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and him alone. Now pay attention here. Yasir Qadhi now will tell you what the result and command that stems from this twisted principle.

“And it is because of this same principle of monotheism that the prophet has been commanded to do jihad.”

OK, now we’re getting somewhere. Did all of you alleged “moderate” Muslims out there get that? Of course, you did. You know this. You know jihad is not just some internal struggle. It isn’t about losing weight or getting in shape or some personal goal to be obtained. It is a holy war to advance the caliphate, the Islamic State. While “jihad is not the goal”, Qadhi says, “it is the means. It is a means to establish monotheism on the land,”. Let me translate that for any who are still skeptical and buying into the lie that Islam is peaceful. Jihad is a means, a violent means, to an end, or goal, where Islam dominates the United States.

I am amazed that something like this is allowed to be openly taught and the FBI or other Federal Agency hasn’t gotten involved with stopping this “hate speech”. If these people were white and Christian saying these things… they would be immediately detained and prosecuted. The only answer I can come up with “WHY” the Government isn’t concerned is that it’s already been infiltrated to the point of protecting this man’s message of the mission to kill ALL Jews & Christians so it can spread and be realized. Maybe I’m wrong and paranoid… except I heard the execution order come from a well-known Imam who walks the streets of America and isn’t behind bars. Posters with the message “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah” next to a photo of a man with a keffiyeh wrapped around his face may soon be plastered on New York City subways and buses, after a federal ruling on Tuesday cleared the way for their placement.

The posters are not sponsored by an anti-Semitic organization, however, but by a pro-Israel one. The American Freedom Defense Initiative, classified as an anti-Muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, has been fighting to get the ads up since last year.

The quote on the ads is attributed to "Hamas MTV," and is followed by a second line that states, “That’s his Jihad. What’s yours?”

Per a 1998 federal ruling, city buses and subways are considered a “designated public forum,” meaning that in most cases, the MTA can’t restrict the content of ads displayed there. However, a legal regulation does forbid material that “incites or provokes” violence.

Officials with New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority approved six of the AFDI’s other anti-Islamic ads in September, but rejected the “Killing Jews” poster because they feared the second line of the ad could be interpreted as a “call to violence,” according to The Washington Post.

U.S. District Judge John Koeltl ruled Tuesday that the MTA cannot prevent the ad from running.

“There is no evidence that seeing one of these advertisements on the back of a bus would be sufficient to trigger a violent reaction. Therefore, these ads -- offensive as they may be -- are still entitled to First Amendment protection,” Koetl said.

AFDI President Pamela Gellar tweeted that the decision was a “victory.”

The ads that were not initially rejected went up last year, and included posters with the message “Yesterday’s moderate is today’s headline,” and others demanding the U.S. stop providing aid to Islamic countries.

Religious leaders and many elected officials condemned the ads’ Islamophobic messages. "These ads are vile, hateful, indecent and only serve to fan the flames of intolerance," Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said in a September statement.

New York's MTA has tried and failed to reject AFDI campaigns in the past. A nearly identical situation played out in 2012, when the MTA refused to run ads reading: “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.”

Officials argued that the ad was offensive to Palestinians, and to Muslims as a whole, but a federal judge ruled that prohibiting the ad was a free speech violation.

New York is not the only city plagued by the AFDI advertisements -- the anti-Islamic messages have appeared on public transit nationwide, including Washington, D.C., and Chicago. In response to public outcry about a 2013 AFDI campaign on San Francisco buses, the city’s transit authority opted to donate all revenue from the ads to San Francisco’s Human Rights Commission.

Al-Jazeera poll shows overwhelming support for ISIS

We continue to be told about “moderate Muslims” and that ISIS is not “Islamic” and not representative of the “religion of peace.”

Ok cool, then someone should probably explain their global recruiting effort and this recent report from Truth Revolt saying “An online poll at the website of the Al-Jazeera news network shows overwhelming support for the terrorist group ISIS. With more than 40,000 votes, 81 percent of those that have taken part say they support the latest victories ISIS has had.”

In case you’ve been watching too much reality TV and are unaware. Al-Jazeera is based in the Gulf Cooperation Council country of Qatar, whose leader was one of two who attended the recent Middle East summit at Camp David. Qatar’s government funds Al-Jazeera, yep, state owned media, and Al Gore’s failed liberal progressive socialist Current TV network was sold to Al-Jazeera. Those of us who’ve served in combat in the Middle East know Al Jazeera as the voice of the Islamic jihadists — famed for being a propaganda arm for Osama bin Laden.

But even more disconcerting is that Qatar is the place where five senior Taliban leaders unconstitutionally released from Guantanamo Bay by President Obama reside — but within the week will be released to return back to Afghanistan.

I believe we need to follow the money because ISIS and Islamic terrorism doesn’t exist in a vacuum, they find external support and financing from somewhere. And you’ll come to find that Qatar has been one of those countries providing that support. All the while this nation placates us by allowing Al Udeid Air Base there not far from the city of Doha where the leader of Hamas resides.

Ain’t life just grand?

So what do we make of the survey conducted on the Al-Jazeera news network website? That perhaps, just perhaps, there are actually quite a few people in the Islamic world who are cheering on ISIS and what they’re doing? Of course the “coexist” crowd will castigate me as an “Islamophobe” — nah. I’m just a realist who understands there are good guys and good leaders in the Islamic world who see militant Islam as not just a threat to us — but also to themselves.

However, perhaps that’s not the prevailing sentiment in the Islamic world, that groups like Boko Haram, ISIS, Al-Qaida, Hamas, Hezbollah, Jabhat al Nusra, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, Al Quds Martyrs, Ansar al Sharia, Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaida in the Maghreb, al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, Jemaat al Islamiya, Taliban, Haqqani Network, Abu Sayyaf…I think I’ve mentioned a majority of them — are welcomed, and somewhere behind the hidden curtains they’re spoken of with sincere admiration and affection.

There is a global Islamic jihadist movement and eventually we in Western civilization are going to have to accept that reality. It doesn’t mean we target an entire group, but we can ill afford to dismiss the cancer. Coexist, yep, but coerce, nope.

Just think about this: the state-run media of Qatar, Al-Jazeera, is broadcasting right here in America. Do I believe in freedom of the press? Certainly. But I also don’t believe in doing stupid stuff just to convince yourself you’re multicultural, benevolent, and accepting. We should not advance a theocratic-political totalitarian ideology that is the antithesis of the fundamental precepts of individual liberty and freedom, which we enjoy here in America.

You just have to ponder, what if Al-Jazeera in America ran a similar survey?

Why our troops need to be VERY concerned on June 29th

While the commander in chief is worried about building tourism in Jordan and gender-neutral bathrooms in the White House, his non-Islamic Islamic State has managed to get its hands on enough radioactive material from former government facilities to suggest it has the capacity to build a large and devastating “dirty” bomb, according to reports issued by Australian intelligence agencies, according to The Independent.

Feeling sick yet? ISIS has declared its ambition to develop weapons of mass destruction in the most recent edition of its propaganda magazine Dabiq, and Indian defense officials have previously warned of the possibility the militants could acquire a nuclear weapon from Pakistan.

According to the Australian foreign minister, Julie Bishop, NATO has expressed deep concerns about the materials seized by ISIS from research centers and hospitals that would normally only be available to governments.”

The threat of ISIS’ radioactive and biological weapons stockpile was so severe that the Australia Group, a 40-nation bloc dedicated to ending the use of chemical weapons, held a session on the subject at its summit in Perth last week.

This is really worrying them,” Ms Bishop said in an interview with The Australian.

When they swept across territory in Syria and Iraq, she said, “the insurgents did not just clear out the cash from local banks.”

Last week Ms Bishop spoke at the Australia Group meeting about fears ISIS was weaponizing poisonous gases such as chlorine.

And speaking to The Australian, she confirmed that the concerns she was raising stemmed from reports filed by the Australian department of defense as well the foreign office.

Experts apparently fear that ISIS will use the upcoming “celebration” of the start of Ramadan and the first anniversary of its declaration of a caliphate (June 29th) to spread the joy with some chemical weapons, noting that the group usually reserves its major operations to coincide with the Islamic holy month.

Because the Obama administration has benched itself for the last three quarters of the game, our troops may now face the worst sort of warfare. Had we left sufficient troop levels in Iraq to take out these thugs at the inception, we wouldn’t be facing the prospect of our military personnel — oops I mean trainers — being hit with a dirty bomb.

Sick and twisted: New tool ISIS using for recruitment is beyond depraved

It is nearly impossible to describe the atrocities ISIS has committed and gleefully documented to date. The level of savagery, sadism and brutality, the unspeakable horrors meted out to innocents in the name of Allah.

And now we must add another.

ISIS has added rape as an acceptable part of its theology — in fact using the Koran to justify and condone it. Rape. Of girls.

Perhaps I’ve missed it, but I haven’t heard any “moderate Muslim clerics” on the news decrying this as an abomination and a corruption of their faith. Have you? If you do see it, will you please send it to me? I’d really like to hear one, just one, Muslim leader here in the United States come forward to take a stand against just this one thing. Forget the beheadings. Forget burning alive and drowning alive.

Just stand up and say using the Koran to justify the rape of non-Muslim girls is wrong. Hello CAIR? Can you please say that in public? Can you please issue a press release saying you think it’s HORRIBLE that ISIS is corrupting your beautiful religion of peace by condoning and encouraging violent sexual assault? I’m sorry, does the question offend your sensibilities?

How about this then. Read this story, as reported by the New York Times:

In the moments before he raped the 12-year-old girl, the Islamic State fighter took the time to explain that what he was about to do was not a sin. Because the preteen girl practiced a religion other than Islam, the Quran not only gave him the right to rape her — it condoned and encouraged it, he insisted.

He bound her hands and gagged her. Then he knelt beside the bed and prostrated himself in prayer before getting on top of her.

When it was over, he knelt to pray again, bookending the rape with acts of religious devotion.

“I kept telling him it hurts — please stop,” said the girl, whose body is so small an adult could circle her waist with two hands. “He told me that according to Islam he is allowed to rape an unbeliever. He said that by raping me, he is drawing closer to God,” she said in an interview alongside her family in a refugee camp to which she escaped after 11 months of captivity.

She’s 12, remember.

I am very much looking forward to reading the statement of condemnation by CAIR. I’m sure it will be issued very soon.

And this has helped ISIS recruit men from conservative Muslim societies, which ban casual sex and dating.”

ISIS beheads leading Syrian antiquities scholar in Palmyra

DAMASCUS, Syria — Islamic State militants beheaded one of Syria's most prominent antiquities scholars in the ancient town of Palmyra, then hung his body from one of the town's Roman columns, Syrian state media and an activist group said Wednesday.

The killing of 81-year-old Khaled al-Asaad was the latest atrocity perpetrated by the militant group, which has captured a third of both Syria and neighboring Iraq and declared a self-styled "caliphate" on the territory it controls.

Since IS overran Palmyra in May, there have been fears the extremists, who have destroyed famed archaeological sites in Iraq, would demolish the 2,000-year-old Roman-era city at the edge of the town — a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the Mideast's most spectacular archaeological sites.

The Sunni extremist group, which has imposed a violent interpretation of Islamic law, or Shariah, believes ancient relics promote idolatry. IS militants claim they are destroying ancient artifacts and archaeological treasures as part of their purge of paganism. The destruction IS has wreaked adds to the wider, extensive damage it has inflicted on ancient sites, including mosques and churches across Syria and Iraq.

According to Syrian state news agency SANA and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, al-Assad was beheaded on Tuesday in a square outside the town's museum. The Observatory, which has a network of activists on the ground in Syria, said dozens of people gathered to witness the killing. Al-Asaad had been held by the IS for about a month, it added.

His body was then taken to Palmyra's archaeological site and hung from one of the Roman columns, Maamoun Abdulkarim, the head of the Antiquities and Museums Department in Damascus, told SANA.

Al-Asaad was "one of the most important pioneers in Syrian archaeology in the 20th century," Abdulkarim said. IS had tried to extract information from him about where some of the town's treasures had been hidden to save them from the militants, the antiquities chief also said.

SANA said al-Asaad had been in charge of Palmyra's archaeological site for four decades until 2003, when he retired. After retiring, al-Asaad worked as an expert with the Antiquities and Museums Department.

Syrian state media and an activist group say Islamic State extremists have beheaded one of the country’s most prominent antiquities scholars, Khaled Asaad, 81, on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, in the historic town of Palmyra.

Al-Asaad, who held a diploma in history and education from the University of Damascus, wrote many books and scientific texts either individually or in cooperation with other Syrian or foreign archeologists, SANA said. Among his titles are "The Palmyra sculptures," and "Zenobia, the Queen of Palmyra and the Orient."

He also discovered several ancient cemeteries, caves and the Byzantine cemetery in the garden of the Museum of Palmyra, the agency added.

"Al-Asaad was a treasure for Syria and the world," Khalil Hariri, al-Asaad's son-in-law who works at the Palmyra's archaeological department told The Associated Press, speaking over the phone from the central Syrian city of Homs. "Why did they kill him?"

"Their systematic campaign seeks to take us back into pre-history," he added. "But they will not succeed."

Hariri, who is married to al-Asaad's daughter, Zenobia, said his father-in-law had been a member of President Bashar Assad's ruling Baath party since 1954. Hariri added that al-Asaad is survived by six sons and five daughters.

Since falling to IS, Palmyra's ancient site has remained intact but the militants destroyed a lion statue in the town dating back to the 2nd century. The statue, discovered in 1975, had stood at the gates of the town museum, and had been placed inside a metal box to protect it from damage.

In early July, IS released a video showing the killing of some 20 captured government soldiers in Palmyra's amphitheater. They were shot dead by young IS members, armed with pistols. Hundreds of people were seen watching the killings.

Also Wednesday, an IS suicide bomber targeted a predominantly Kurdish town in northeastern Syria, killing at least 11 people, an activist group said.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the explosion happened outside a local Kurdish police station in the town of Qamishli. It also said more than 40 people were wounded in the blast. Syria's state news agency SANA also reported the explosion, saying it killed 13 and wounded about 50.

The Islamic State group has been fighting Kurdish fighters in Syria since last year and the extremists have carried out dozens of suicide attacks against the Kurds. The Kurdish fighters, aided by U.S.-led airstrikes, have also captured significant territory from IS in northern Syria.

An offensive open letter. Not sorry.

Since September 11, 2001, the pundits have gone out of their way to tell us Islam is the religion of peace. They’ve gone out of their way to tell us not all Muslims are terrorists. These same pundits have ridiculed anyone who dare mock the prophet Muhammad, all but excusing any retaliatory action from said peaceful Islamists.

So it should come as no surprise that post Paris-attacks (by Islamists), before the bodies were even cold, Muslims world-wide played their victim cards, hoping to garner sympathy for Muslims. Not for the victims of the attacks. No, no, the Muslims wanted sympathy for Muslims.

When France channeled their inner Napoleons by retaliating to sheer, civilian-targeted brutality of the Paris attacks by bombing an ISIS training center in Syria, the Muslims, of the religion of peace, took to social media to weep, to complain, to equate retaliation from a terror attack with the terror attack itself. But they like, really hate terrorism you guys. They’re super serious.

Here’s the birka’d elephant in the room: if Islam is the religion of peace, why aren’t you Muslims across the globe condemning ISIS in droves? Why aren’t you applauding France’s retaliatory action against these supposed fringe extremists in your ranks?

Think of it this way… from a Christian here. If the Westboro Baptist church, whose current membership and maturity is about that of a daycare center, was blowing people up or chopping off heads (I LOL at the thought, their greatest weapon is an incendiary, poorly drawn sign), they couldn’t be exterminated fast enough. By fellow Christians. Like me. Who would denounce them soundly, celebrating with far better signage. Like from Kinkos. I’m talking full color, vinyl banners with grommets. The Liberace of signs.

If nobody hates ISIS more than you poor, put-upon, victimized Muslims… why are you crying lakes of tears when the French target and attack ISIS? I know it’s totally racist Islamaphobic to ask, but I want to know. If “refugees” are fleeing ISIS, why are they butt-hurt when ISIS and Syria gets shafted by the French? Shouldn’t these refugees, shouldn’t you Muslims of peace pull out your your foam fingers and party hats when ISIS gets their pork tenderloin stuffed and served? French style.

Yes, you would, if what we were told about Islam, that it’s a religion of peace on par with the tantric yoga you practice with your borderline-molesting instructor, were true. But those pesky facts come back to bite us in our butts every time. Anywhere Muslims attain a majority rule, they erect Sharia courts, they support death to anyone who leaves Islam (like converting to Christianity, Judaism or Pastafaria), they will kill gay men for speaking with a lisp, and ascribe second class citizenry to women. Are most Muslims active terrorists? Of course not. But to deny the terrorist ideology ingrained in Islam from none other than Muhammad himself is as stupid as… well denying the terrorist ideology ingrained in Islam itself. What all of these #PrayForSyria and #MuslimsAreNotTerrorists tags tell us is that even you moderate Muslims seem more angry with France’s retaliatory action against ISIS than the Parisian attack itself. You “moderate” Muslims are more concerned with creating a false moral equivalency, with demanding sympathy, than demanding for ISIS’s heads. Look, you Muslims are not calling for religious reform. You’re not promising to hunt down these bastards, you’re not calling for Syria to deal with ISIS. No, what you’re doing is playing the pity-party card (read Dear Moderate Muslims: Your Self-Pity Party is Disgusting). You moderate Muslims have shown us that in the Islamic world, when push comes to shove, you side with the Islamic world, not with the western democracies who are fighting Islamic extremism.

And that’s a non-terrorism, best case scenario.

What other conclusion should we drawing from your response? Maybe, just maybe, you “moderate” Muslims aren’t bothered so much with your brothers and oppressed sisters in Islam. Because even when you “flee” these countries filled with Sharia and oppression, when you reach a new homeland, you erect the same systems and laws you left in the first place. Said places then turn into all-too-familiar Islamic crapholes. Look no further than Dearborn, Michigan (craphole) which voted 4-3 to implement Sharia Law:

In a surprise weekend vote, the city council of Dearborn, Michigan voted 4-3 to became the first US city to officially implement all aspects of Sharia Law. The tough new law, slated to go into effect January 1st, addresses secular law including crime, politics and economics as well as personal matters such as sexual intercourse, fasting, prayer, diet and hygiene.

The new law could see citizens stoned for adultery or having a limb amputated for theft. Lesser offenses, such as drinking alcohol or abortion, could result in flogging and/or caning. In addition, the law imposes harsh laws with regards to women and allows for child marriage.

And that’s a non-terrorism, best case scenario.

Here’s the scary thing, all jokes aside (for just this one sentence): everyone who refuses to see the reality of Islam, everyone who thinks the values of freedom can play nicely with the ideals of Islam, you’re naiveté is putting us in danger (read Dear Cowardly Politicians Subverting Our Safety for ‘Refugees’…. The truth of Islam is out there for everyone to see, but you have to be brave enough to see it and accept it. These people hate us for our values, they hate us for our culture, they hate us for our freedom. We cannot peacefully COEXIST with Islam.

Namely because that damn “C” wants to kill all the other letters.

Nowhere in the Islamic world does freedom exist. Nowhere. Freedom cannot exist within Islam, it only exists outside of it. So choose your sympathies wisely. It can be for freedom, or Islam, but never both.

This Shocking Poll of Syrian Refugees About ISIS is FRIGHTENING

There was poll taken in November titled The Military Campaign against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant: Arab Public Opinion’. The poll was conducted by the Arab Center for Research & Policy Studies.

The poll had some very interesting results, especially when you look at the responses of Syrian refugees.

The survey results buttress concerns by the dozens of U.S. governors who have announced opposition to President Barack Obama’s plan to import 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next year.

The poll shows thirteen percent of Syrian refugees have a completely positive opinion of ISIS with another ten percent having mixed feelings on the terror group, suggesting that nearly one quarter are open to recruitment by ISIS.

Factoring the survey results with the 10,000 Syrian refugees Obama plans to bring to the United States means Obama will bring in 1,300 ISIS supporters and a total of 3,100 who do not want the US to defeat ISIS.

The Obama administration imported about 1,600 Syrian refugees in the past fiscal year. That means around 200 Syrian refugee ISIS supporters and a total of nearly 500 Syrian refugee ISIS sympathizers are already in the country.

This is exactly the type of information and concerns that many in the country have in regards to the Syrian refugees.

If a certain percentage indeed support ISIS, how many of that percentage would enlist to help them?

The problem is we don’t know.

One of the Paris attackers pretended to be a refugee. He had a Syrian passport.

Since our country has admitted we cannot vet these people, why would they take any risk with endangering the lives of the people already IN this country?

The federal government’s role is to protect the liberty of Americans and others who are in this country, not protect the liberty of those in a foreign country who may or may not come here to oppress our own citizens.

Is one American life really worth that risk? What if that life was that of your wife, daughter, husband, Mother, son or grandmother?

Think about it.

6 Turkish Airlines personnel freed in Mali

BANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish Airlines says a sixth crew member has been freed from a hotel in Mali that was stormed by armed gunmen.

A statement from the company said Friday that one employee remains inside the hotel.

Five crew members — a station chief, two pilots and two flight attendants — were released earlier Friday.

A government official said It was not clear if they were released by the assailants or freed by the authorities. The official said he was not able to confirm reports that the hostages were asked to read from the Quran during the ordeal.

Turkish Airlines said company officials were in contact with the crew member still inside the hotel.

BAMAKO, Mali - Islamic extremists armed with guns and throwing grenades stormed the Radisson Blu hotel in Mali's capital Friday morning, killing at least three people and initially taking numerous hostages, authorities said.

The Brussels-based Rezidor Hotel group that operates the hotel said early on that the assailants had "locked in" 140 guests and 30 employees.

Malian troops reacted quickly. As people ran for their lives near the hotel along a dirt road, the soldiers in full combat gear pointed the way to safety. Within hours, local TV images showed heavily armed troops in what appeared to be a lobby area. Malian state TV reported that 80 people in the hotel when the assault began have been freed.

Malian special forces were freeing hostages "floor by floor," Malian army commander Modibo Nama Traore told The Associated Press. Still, Rezidor Hotel group put out a new statement saying 125 guests and 13 employees were still in the hotel.

Traore said at least one guest eported that the attackers instructed him to recite verses from the Quran before he was allowed to leave the hotel.

It was not immediately clear which Muslim extremist groups might be behind the attack, which unfolded one week after the attacks on Paris that killed 129 people. A handful of jihadi groups seized the northern half of Mali — a former French colony — in 2012 and were ousted from cities and towns by a French military intervention.

French President Francois Hollande said: "We should yet again stand firm and show our solidarity with a friendly country, Mali."

Traore said 10 gunmen had stormed the hotel shouting "Allahu Akbar," or "God is great," in Arabic before firing on the guards. A staffer at the hotel who gave his name as Tamba Diarra said over the phone that the attackers used grenades in the assault.

The U.S. Embassy in Mali told citizens to shelter in place amid reports of an "ongoing active shooter operation" at the hotel in Bamako.

Monique Kouame Affoue Ekonde, from Ivory Coast, said she and six other people, including a Turkish woman, were escorted out by security forces as the gunmen rushed "toward the fifth or sixth floor."

"I think they are still there. I've left the hotel and I don't know where to go. I'm tired and in a state of shock," she said.

A top official at the French presidency said French citizens were in the hotel but could not give more. The official spoke anonymously in line with presidency policy.

Belgian foreign minister Didier Reynders said that four Belgians were registered at the hotel but their whereabouts were unknown.

Citing Chinese diplomats in Mali, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported that about 10 Chinese citizens were sheltering inside their hotel rooms. The embassy was in phone contact with them and all were reported safe, according to the report. All are employees of Chinese companies working in Mali.

Five Turkish Airlines personnel were among the freed hostages, Turkey's state-run news agency said.

The website of the official China Daily newspaper also cited an unidentified witness as saying one Chinese citizen had been rescued.

The U.N. mission said it was sending security reinforcements and medical aid to the scene. Ambulances were seen rushing to the hotel as a military helicopter flew overhead.

Even after the French-led military intervention in early 2013 that forced the extremists from northern towns and cities, the north remains insecure and militant attacks have extended farther south this year, including the capital. In March masked gunmen shot up a restaurant in Bamako that is popular with foreigners, killing five people.

About 1,000 French troops remain in the country. The Netherlands also has troops working with the UN mission in Mali. According to the Dutch defense ministry, some 450 Dutch military personnel are taking part in the mission along with four Apache and three Chinook helicopters. Most of the Dutch force is based in Gao, but there are a few officers at the U.N. mission headquarters in Bamako.

Mali Hotel Is Attacked by Hostage Takers; at Least 3 Killed

DAKAR, Senegal — Gunmen stormed a Radisson Blu hotel on Friday morning in Bamako, the capital of the West African nation of Mali, seizing scores of hostages and killing at least three people.

An unknown number of gunmen, perhaps four or took “about 100 hostages” at the beginning of the siege, said Gen. Didier Dacko of the Malian Army. He said soldiers had sealed the perimeter and were now “inside looking for the terrorists.”

Several dozen hostages, many of them crying – including women, children and older people — had begun streaming out of the hotel after hiding in their rooms, said Amadou Sidibé, a local reporter at the scene. Two members of the Malian security forces were wounded by shots fired from the seventh floor of the hotel, he said.

Col. Maj. Salif Traoré, the minister of security and civil protection, said the military had evacuated around 30 people from the hotel and taken them to a gymnasium nearby. According to a statement from the operators of the hotel, as many as 124 guests and 13 employees were still in the building.

An American Defense official said that 12 to 15 Americans were believed to be at the hotel when the gunmen first arrived. Six American citizens have been recovered safely from the hotel, he said. The status of the others is not clear.

American Special Operations forces “are currently assisting hostage recovery efforts at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako,” said Col. Mark Cheadle, a spokesman with the United States Africa Command, said on Friday. “U.S. forces have helped move civilians to secure locations, as Malian forces work to clear the hotel of hostile gunmen.”

The siege in Mali, a former French colony, came only a week after terrorists with assault rifles and suicide vests killed 129 people in attacks across Paris.

It is still unclear who is responsible for the attack in Mali, but the country has long struggled with insurrection and Islamist extremism.

Northern Mali fell under the control of rebels and Islamist militants in 2012. A French-led offensive ousted them in 2013, but remnants of the militant groups have staged a number of attacks on United Nations peacekeepers and Malian forces. Hundreds of French soldiers remain in the country.

The Radisson Blu hotel is a popular place for foreigners to stay in Bamako, a city with a population approaching two million, and French citizens were among those taken hostage.

Germany’s Foreign Ministry said that two Germans were among the hostages who had been released from the hotel. Four Belgians were registered in the hotel, according to a Foreign Ministry spokesman in that country, but their situation was unknown.

A diplomat at the Chinese embassy in Bamako said that eight Chinese business people had been trapped in the hotel as well. Embassy officials at the scene were in touch with some of the Chinese hostages by WeChat, a Chinese messaging service, the diplomat said.

About 20 Indian citizens were also in the hotel at the time of the attack but were evacuated safely, the Indian ambassador to Mali said.

Kassim Traoré, a Malian journalist who was in a building about 50 meters, or 160 feet, from the Radisson, said the attackers had told hostages to recite a declaration of Muslim faith as a way separating Muslims from non-Muslims. Those who could recite the declaration, the Shahada, were allowed to leave the hotel. The Shabab, a Qaeda affiliate in East Africa, used a similar approach in the attack at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi in 2013.

The security forces were moving through the hotel, floor by floor, freeing hostages as they went, Mr. Traoré added. The gunmen were holed up on the seventh floor, with the battle for the hotel still underway.

Some of the people who fled the hotel were not wearing any clothes as they were taken to a police station.

“We were just evacuated from the hotel by security forces; I know that there are a lot of people inside right now,” one hostage who made it to safety told France24 television. “I saw bodies in the lobby. What is happening right now is really horrible.”

“I was hidden in my room barely a couple minutes, a couple seconds ago, and someone shouted, telling us to get out,” the hostage said. “My door was smashed open, the security forces arrived.”

Another French hostage, who did not want to be identified, told a friend in Bamako that a group of people were trapped on the roof of the hotel, along with the body of one person who had died in the attack. The hostage told the friend that the French Consulate had told hostages by text message to stay put and wait for a military assault.

Kamissoko Lassine, the chief pastry chef of the Radisson Blu hotel in Bamako, said that two armed men arrived at the hotel between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

“They were driving a vehicle with diplomatic plates,” he said. “You know how easy that is at the hotel? The guards just lifted the barrier.”

“They opened fire and wounded the guard at the front,” said Mr. Lassine, who said he was able to slip out a back door and make it home safely. “They took the hotel hostage and moved people into a big hall.”

A member of the United Nations peacekeeping force in Mali, who asked not to be identified, said there were many French people in the hotel, including Air France staff members, along with a delegation for the International Organization of French Speakers. Air France later said in a statement that 12 members of its crew had been at the hotel and were freed.

Five Turkish Airlines crew members, including pilots and flight attendants, have also been freed, while two remained inside the hotel, a Turkish government official said.

Mali has been crippled by instability since January, 2012, when rebels and Al Qaeda-linked militants — armed with the remnants of late Libyan leader Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s arsenal — began advancing through the country’s vast desert in the north and capturing towns.

A military coup, stirred in part by anger over the government’s handling of the insurrection, overthrew Mali’s elected government in March 2012. Amid the chaos, Islamist rebels managed to consolidate their hold on the northern part of the country, imposing a harsh version of Islamic law.

In January of 2013, the Islamist forces began advancing south from their northern stronghold, heading in the direction of Mali’s capital. France sent in troops to stop them. A brief military campaign halted the Islamist advance, recaptured towns like Timbuktu that had been under the militants’ control, and chased the remaining Islamist fighters back into the desert.

But in a shocking twist, other militants linked to Al Qaeda stormed a vast gas production facility in the desert of neighboring Algeria, taking dozens of expatriate workers hostage. Some 38 were killed during the siege of the gas plant.

With hundreds of French troops still present in Mali and the country highly reliant on donors, elections in the summer of 2013 restored a democratic government. But its hold on the north remains weak.

There are frequent attacks by Islamist fighters, particular on United Nations troops, in the northern provinces. A shaky peace deal signed in June has not stopped the attacks, and in August five United Nations workers were killed in an assault on a hotel in central Mali. Five months before, militants killed five at a restaurant in Bamako.

The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, the operator of the Radisson Blu Hotel Bamako, said it was in contact with the local authorities, and the United States Embassy said it was aware of the situation and issued a warning to staff members and American citizens to shelter in place.

There was no formal claim of responsibility, but supporters of the Islamic State were posting on Twitter in celebration of the attacks under the hashtags #IslamicState, #ParisIsBurning and #Mali_Is_Burning.

In August, jihadists stormed a hotel in Sévaré, north of the capital, where United Nations staff members were staying, seizing hostages and killing at least five Malian soldiers and a United Nations contractor.

Like Most People, President Obama Gets The Crusades Wrong

President Obama, like many nowadays, think it’s fair to equate Islamist terrorism with the medieval Crusades. It’s not.

In light of President Obama’s recent remarks comparing the brutality of the Islamic State to the Crusades, it might be time to take a fresh look at those events. Were they really the one-sided Dark Ages barbarism we have been taught? Were they an early manifestation of Western imperialism and global conquest?

In his landmark book, “God’s Battalions” (HarperOne 2009), Baylor University social sciences professor Rodney Stark suggests otherwise. It is a well-researched chronicle, including 639 footnotes and a bibliography of about 300 other works, yet reads like an adventure story full of military strategy and political intrigue.

What Prompted the Crusades

He begins in the final years of Mohammed and describes how a newly united Arab people swept through (Zoroastrian) Persia and the (Orthodox Christian) Byzantine- controlled areas of Syria, Palestine, Egypt, and North Africa. (Byzantine refers to the Greek-speaking eastern remainder of the Roman Empire.) Eventually Arabs took over control of the Mediterranean islands, most of Spain, and the southern part of Italy, and even reached as far as 150 miles outside of Paris before being turned back by the Franks, or early French.

Jews and Christians (other People of the Book) were usually but not always treated somewhat better, and allowed to retain their beliefs but under conditions of Sharia subjugation.

But the Muslim-held territories were not monolithic. Stark writes:

Perhaps the single most remarkable feature of the Islamic territories was the almost ceaseless internal conflict; the intricate plots, assassinations, and betrayals form a lethal soap opera. North Africa was frequently torn by rebellions and intra-Islamic wars and conquests. Spain was a patchwork of constantly feuding Muslim regimes that often allied themselves with Christians against one another.

Not surprisingly, there was intense Christian resistance and determination to take back lost territories. Especially effective were the Normans and the Franks in Spain and Italy.

The Golden Middle Ages Belonged to Europeans

Western scholars have often characterized this clash of cultures as an Islamic Golden Age versus a European Dark Age, but Stark demolishes this as a myth. He says the best of the Islamic culture was appropriated from the people Muslims conquered—the Greeks, Jews, Persians, Hindus, and even from heretical Christian sects such as the Copts and Nestorians. He quotes E.D. Hunt as writing,
“the earliest scientific book in the language of Islam [was a] treatise on medicine by a Syrian Christian priest in Alexandria translated into Arabic by a Persian Jewish physician.” Stark writes that Muslim naval fleets were built by Egyptian shipwrights, manned by Christian crews, and often captained by Italians. When Baghdad was built, the caliph “entrusted the design of the city to a Zoroastrian and a Jew.” Even the “Arabic” numbering system was Hindu in origin.

And, while it is true that the Arabs embraced the writings of Plato and Aristotle, Stark comments,

However, rather than treat these works as attempts by Greek scholars to answer various questions, Muslin intellectuals quickly read them in the same way they read the Qur’an – as settled truths to be understood without question or contradiction…. Attitudes such as these prevented Islam from taking up where the Greeks had left off in their pursuit of knowledge.

Meanwhile, back in Europe was an explosion of technology that made ordinary people far richer than any people had ever been. It began with the development of collars and harnesses that allowed horses to pull plows and wagons rather than oxen, doubling the speed at which people could till fields. Plows were improved, iron horseshoes invented, wagons given brakes and swivel axels, and larger draft horses were bred. All this along with the new idea of crop rotation led to a massive improvement in agricultural productivity that in turn led to a much healthier, larger, and stronger population.

Technology was also improving warfare with the invention of the crossbow and chain mail. Crossbows were far more accurate and deadly than conventional archery, and could be fired with very little training. Chain mail was almost impervious to the kind of arrows in use throughout the world. Mounted knights were fitted with high-back saddles and stirrups that enabled them to use more force in charging an opponent, and much larger horses were bred as chargers, giving the knights a height advantage over enemies. Better military tactics made European armies much more lethal. Stark writes:

It is axiomatic in military science that cavalry cannot succeed against well-armed and well-disciplined infantry formations unless they greatly outnumber them…. When determined infantry hold their ranks, standing shoulder to shoulder to present a wall of shields from which they project a thicket of long spears butted in the ground, cavalry charges are easily turned away; the horses often rear out of control and refuse to meet the spears.

In contrast, Muslim warriors were almost exclusively light cavalry, riding faster but lighter horses bareback with little armor, few shields, and using swords and axes. Their biggest advantage was their use of camels, which made them much more mobile than foot soldiers and gave them the ability to swoop in and out of the desert areas to attack poorly defended cities.

Muslims Slaughter, Rape, and Pillage

These differences provided Crusader armies with huge advantages, but what would prompt hundreds of thousand Europeans to leave their homes and travel 2,500 miles to engage an enemy is a desert kingdom—especially after the Muslim conquest of Europe had been turned back?

In 638 Jerusalem surrendered to Muslim invaders, and mass murders of Christian pilgrims and monks became commonplace.

There had been long-festering concern about the fate of Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land. After his conversion to Christianity in the early 300s, the Roman Emperor Constantine built the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on the site of what was believed to be Jesus’ tomb, and other churches in Bethlehem and on the Mount of Olives. These sites prompted a growing number of European pilgrims to visit the Holy Land, including Saint Jerome, who lived in Bethlehem for the last 32 years of his life as he translated the Bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin. By the late fifth century, Stark reports, more than 300 hostels and monasteries offered lodging to pilgrims in Jerusalem alone.

But in 638 Jerusalem surrendered to Muslim invaders, and mass murders of Christian pilgrims and monks became commonplace. Stark includes a list of select atrocities in the eight and ninth centuries, but none worse than the some 5,000 German Christians slaughtered by Bedouin robbers in the tenth century.

Throughout this period, control of Palestine was contested by several conflicting Muslim groups. Stark writes, “In 878 a new dynasty was established in Egypt and seized control of the Holy Land from the caliph in Baghdad.” One hundred years later, Tariqu al-Hakim became the sixth caliph of Egypt and initiated an unprecedented reign of terror, not just against Christians but against his own people as well. He burned or pillaged some 30,000 churches, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the tomb beneath it.

Soon enough, newly converted Turkish tribes came out of the north to seize Persia and Baghdad (by 1045) and press on to Armenia, overrunning the city of Ardzen in 1048, where they murdered all the men, raped the women, and enslaved the children. Next they attacked the Egyptians, in part because the Turks were Orthodox Sunnis and the Egyptians were heretical Shiites. While the Turks did not succeed in overthrowing the Egyptians, they did conquer Palestine, entering Jerusalem in 1071. The Turks promised safety to the residents of Jerusalem if they surrendered the city, but broke this promise and slaughtered the population. They did the same in Ramla, Gaza, Tyre, and Jaffa.

Emperor Alexius Pleads for Help

The Crusaders ended up establishing their own kingdoms in the Holy Land, which lasted for about 200 years or, as Stark notes, almost as long as the United States has existed; but without ongoing support from Europe they could not survive constant attacks from the Muslims.

How the Crusades Were Different from Military Action of the Day

So, what to make of all this?

The current idea that Jews in Israel are usurping the rights of indigenous people is nonsense. This has always been a hotly contested area. In the Old Testament, the Jews wrested control from the Canaanites, then were overrun by the Assyrians, then the Babylonians, then the Persians, then the Greeks, then the Romans. The Romans of Jesus’ time were displaced by the Greek Byzantine Empire, then replaced by the Arabs, then the Egyptians, then the Turks, and finally by the British. For most of human history the wealth of a society was created by conquest and plunder. It is hardly unique to Christians, and certainly not to Jews.

In the Bible, II Kings 6:24-33 relates the story of the siege of Samaria, in which two starving women agree to kill and eat their sons.

The rule of war at the time was that, if a city surrendered, the population would be spared, but if it resisted and the invading army had to take it by force all the inhabitants would be killed or enslaved. But Stark notes that Muslim armies often violated even this rule—promising sanctuary, then slaughtering the population that surrendered. (Before we get too smug and condescending about the savagery of these ancients, let’s not forget the rocket bombing of London, the firebombing of Dresden, and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki a mere 70 years ago.)

One way in which Muslim fighters today have advanced over their forebears is that during the Crusades they did not adopt new tactics to counter the technological advantage of the Europeans. Friedman confirms that this is based on a 2002 report, the first Arab Human Development Report. This report, written by Arabs, found that Spain had a larger gross domestic product than all 22 Arab states combined!

I think Stark is closer to the mark than bin Laden. The problem is a cultural way of thinking that starts with the Qur’an and the Prophet and emphasizes unquestioning obedience. The very name of the religion, Islam, means “submission.” The thinking of bin Laden that emphasizes punishing poor rulers is a complete misunderstanding how progress is made. European cultures place a high value on questioning everything, even the divinity of Jesus Christ. Certainly there have been exceptions to this, but in the sweep of history it is an unmistakable trait.

So we have perhaps the starkest conflict of worldviews imaginable: on one hand, a robust and virtually unlimited spirit of inquiry, and on the other a fervent dedication to universal obedience and submission. How this plays out is the story of our times.

We’re just getting word of horrific news coming out Africa today, where an Ethiopian official says more than 140 civilians — mainly women and children — have been killed by “heavily armed” groups. Multiple local outlets are reporting the death toll is much higher than initially reported — and that a number of children have been abducted as well.

The attack took place on Friday in Jakawa, in Ethiopia’s Gambella region and the attackers were members of South Sudan’s Murle tribe, said Reda. A number of children were abducted and taken into South Sudan, he said. The latest attack is much larger than past skirmishes, he said.

Some Ethiopian media outlets claimed the death toll was much high that initially reported.

The Ethiopian region hosts thousands of South Sudanese refugees who fled after war broke in their country in December 2013. It is also home to Ethiopian and South Sudanese armed groups that attack government installations and soldiers.

This horrific attack targeting mainly women and children reminds us, tragically, that terrorists — barbarians — come in many forms.

Human Rights Watch called on ISIS to urgently release Yezidi women and girls abducted since 2014. “The longer they are held by ISIS, the more horrific life becomes for Yezidi women, bought and sold, brutally raped, their children torn from them,” said Skye Wheeler, women’s rights emergencies researcher at Human Rights Watch.

According to officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria continue to hold about 1,800 abducted Yezidi women and girls.

The United Nations has cited allegations, based on Yezidi officials’ estimates, that as many as 3,500 people remained in ISIS captivity as of October 2015.

“Many of the abuses, including torture, sexual slavery, and arbitrary detention, would be war crimes if committed in the context of the armed conflict, or crimes against humanity if they were part of ISIS policy during a systematic or widespread attack on the civilian population,” the HRW said. “The abuses against Yezidi women and girls documented by Human Rights Watch, including the practice of abducting women and girls and forcibly converting them to Islam and/or forcibly marrying them to ISIS members, may be part of a genocide against Yezidis.”

Two French Police Officers Killed In Attack Claimed By ISIS

PARIS/LES MUREAUX (Reuters) - A suspected Islamist attacker stabbed a French police commander to death outside his home and later killed his companion, a policewoman, in an attack claimed by Islamic State and denounced by the government as “an abject act of terrorism”.

The assailant, a 25-year-old Frenchman of Moroccan origin, was jailed in 2013 for helping Islamist militants go to Pakistan and had been under security service surveillance, including wiretaps, at the time of the attack, police sources said.

The attacker filmed part of the assault live on the social network Facebook, according to David Thomson, a journalist specialized in radical Islamists. In his Facebook message, he linked the attack to the Euro 2016 soccer tournament now under way in France, saying: “The Euros will be a graveyard.”

The attacker, named by police and justice sources as Larossi Abballa, knifed the 42-year-old commander repeatedly in the stomach on Monday evening.

He then barricaded himself inside the house in Magnanville, a suburb some 60 km (40 miles) west of Paris, taking the man’s 36-year-old partner and their three-year-old son hostage.

Police commandos shot Abballa dead when they stormed the house after negotiations failed but they found the woman, a secretary at a police station in a nearby suburb, killed with a knife, a source close to the investigation said.

The boy was unharmed but in a state of shock.

“An abject act of terrorism was carried out yesterday in Magnanville,” Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said after an emergency government meeting, before visiting Les Mureaux, where the police commander worked.

President Francois Hollande said the killings were “undeniably a terrorist act” and that the terrorist threat in France was very high.

Police searched Abballa’s home and other locations on Tuesday and detained two people close to him for questioning, a police source said.

The killings came as France, which has been under a state of emergency since Islamic State gunmen and bombers killed 130 people in Paris last November, was on high security alert for the Euro 2016, which began last Friday.

Police are under “extreme pressure” and “close to burn-out,” the head of FO labor union Jean-Claude Mailly told France 2 television.

Islamic State claimed the attack. “God has enabled one of the caliphate’s soldiers in city of Les Mureaux near Paris to stab to death the deputy police chief and his wife,” an official broadcast on its Albayan Radio said.

If it is confirmed that the group was behind the killing, it would be the first militant strike on French soil since the multiple attacks on bars, restaurants, a concert hall and the national soccer stadium in Paris in November.

Details started to emerge on the profile of the attacker. Abballa was born in the nearby town of Meulan and lived in Mantes-la-Jolie, where he had set up a fast food outlet in April, documents from the Versailles court showed.

He was given a three-year prison sentence in 2013 for helping Islamist militants go to Pakistan. His name appeared in a separate ongoing investigation into a man who went to Syria, but he was not considered a threat, a source close to the probe said.

“He wanted to do jihad (holy war), that was clear,” Marc Trevidic, a former anti-terrorism judge who was in charge of the 2013 investigation told Le Figaro newspaper. But he was seen as having a minor role in that case, he said.

Abballa had also been convicted three times on charges of aggravated theft and driving without a license, a source close to the investigation said.

“Many things are being analyzed,” a justice source said, including messages posted on social networks.

Thomson, an RFI radio journalist specialized in Islamic radicalism, wrote on his Twitter page that Abballa had filmed himself on Facebook live during the attack.

With the couple’s boy behind him he said: “I don’t know yet what I’m going to do with him,” Thomson wrote.

Islamic State’s claim of responsibility came after the Islamist militant group said it was responsible for the shooting that killed 49 people in a massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Islamic State terrorists have beheaded a 4-year-old girl in the group’s Syrian stronghold of Raqqa and forced her mother to soak her hands in her daughter’s blood, an Iranian news outlet has reported.

A Syrian woman who recently escaped the wrath of IS (also known as ISIS, ISIL and Daesh) told the Tehran-based Al Alam International News Channel on the condition of anonymity about a terrifying incident that led to the decapitation of an innocent child.

“A mother told her 4-year daughter to go home and she refused and then the mother told her unintentionally ‘go home and I swear to God that I will behead you if you don’t,'” the woman recalled. “And one of the ISIS members heard this and told the mother ‘since you swore to God you should behead her,’ but the mother strongly opposed.”

After the mother refused to behead her daughter, the Syrian woman said IS militants took it upon themselves to execute the child.

“But they beheaded the little girl and soaked her mother’s hands in her daughter’s blood,” she said.

While the woman’s story has not been confirmed, numerous reports have emerged in the last two years since IS took over large swaths of area in Iraq and Syria about how the militant group has mistreated, tortured and killed young children.

Earlier this year, a senior official from an Iraqi-state sponsored Shiite militia claimed that IS had executed a 4-year-old boy in Iraq’s al-Shirqat district by detonating an explosive device “that was attached to the child through a remote-controlled device so that his organs would be blown apart.”

The official said the murder of the boy came after the group had executed the boy’s father for killing two IS fighters.

I notice you because I can't help it anymore. People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now.
I don't fully understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

On September 11, ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others, hacking their necks, over and over, with box cutters. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings, killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants, and children's mothers.

The Palestinians celebrated, the Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So, I notice you now. I don't want to be worried.
I don't want to be consumed by the same rage, hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists. But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.

How do I differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim Americans and the Arab/Muslim terrorists in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter MORE of the same good neighbors and children?

The events of September 11 changed the answer.. It is not MY responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.

Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car? Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation; that He will protect it and let it prosper? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots, who have through our history, given their lives for this country? Are you willing to preserve this freedom by also paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America?? If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about it.

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions YOU are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America. I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting 'Allah Bless America'. I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to our returning wounded and to this nation as a whole.

The FBI has had a long list of people they’ve wanted to interact with regarding the threats that they believe to be ongoing. Many of these people live and socialize right now in Muslim communities. You know them. You know where they are. Give the FBI a heads up as to where they may be. Better yet, hand them over to us, NOW! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action. Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals.

The very few Arab/Muslim representatives, like CARE, that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating. They seemed more concerned with making sure that the United States apologize and take responsibility for actions defending our own people. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with supporting our country and denouncing 'leaders' like the late Khadafi, the late Hussein, Farrakhan, and the late Arafat.

If the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people, then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good, pure, and true, when your 'leaders' ARE teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance? It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if huge numbers of the world's Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world.

A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great United States of America, the country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.

We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us -- our rights under the greatest constitution in the world. I want to know where every Arab Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to DEMAND it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very constitution that is protecting you and your family.

I am pleading with you to let me know. I want you here as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American...... But there can be no grey areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance, and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand. Until then, "YOU WORRY ME!"

Huge explosion rocks hotel, gunmen fighting their way in…

UPDATE: CNN is now reporting at least 15 dead and 25 injured, with most of those killed and injured civilians passing by and customers of nearby shops and a gas station. Fighting still is happening inside the hotel, Somali police Capt. Aden Dahir said.

Horrific news coming out of the Somalia capital this morning. And for those who aren’t interested in learning about what happens “over there,” it’s worth remembering it is this same type of radical extremism that the Obama administration is paving the path for into our own homeland.

A team of gunmen took hotel guests hostage after storming the building in a Somalia’s capital city, Mogadishu on Saturday, police have revealed.

A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at the gate of the Nasa-Hablod hotel near the capital’s busy KM-4 junction, followed by a second explosion heard inside the hotel as gunmen fought their way in, police said. At least four bodies were seen outside the hotel, one officer said.

The number of hostages was unclear. The attackers hurled grenades and fired machine guns to resist security forces trying to reach them on the second floor, police captain Mohamed Hussein said.

Security forces killed at least two of the attackers who have deployed snipers on the hotel rooftop, Hussein added.

The attackers “took positions behind blast walls and sandbags; fighting is still ongoing,” he said, as gunfire could be heard in the background.

A witness to the attack, Ali Mohamud, said the attackers randomly shot at guests at the hotel.

“They were shooting at everyone they could see. I escaped through the back door,” he said.

Yusuf Ali, an ambulance driver, told The Associated Press that he evacuated 11 people injured in the attack to hospitals.

“Most of them were wounded in crossfire,” he said

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. The Somalia-based, al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab extremist group has been waging a deadly insurgency across large parts of Somalia and often employs suicide car bomb attacks to penetrate heavily fortified targets in Mogadishu and elsewhere.

In early June, an overnight siege by extremist gunmen at another hotel in the capital killed least 15 people, including two members of parliament. Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for that attack.

The latest attack comes during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, during which extremists often step up attacks in this volatile East African country.

So far, no one has tried to blame guns, workplace violence, a right-wing Christian nut job, global warming, white privilege, a closet gay struggle or #Brexit for what appears to be an Islamic extremist attack. While today’s attack is in a place that seems like a totally different world to many Americans, it has a common element with what just happened within our homeland two weeks ago: radical Islam.
