Just got off the phone with my son... and can't stop crying... I know i knew it was coming, but But hearing him say.. In July he Deploys to Wisconsin, and from there to the Kandahar Valley in Afghanistan..... All I can think of is the Post that Gobs101 made the day her son was killed in Iraq.... I'm so scared i can't stand it... I have to be up at 5am, and I know i'm not going to sleep.. I'm hoping i will be ok at least until he leaves.. just not sure how i'm gonna handle it when he's actually gone...

LORD HELP ME!!!!

Oh no. Maybe getting in contact with others who have kids there will help you. You will have a support group that can relate to your fears for them.

You can talk to me, My Daughter was there for a year. It will be the hardest thing you will ever have to do but we will help get you through it. For sure we will send him letters and stuff too if you would like. I know my daughter would write also. We are waitng on her papers right now to see if she is being pulled again.
Hugs and prayers to you!!!!!

I really hope they do like they're doing in Iraq and let the soldiers come home. Maybe then your son wont have to go. I'll keep you and your son in my prayers.

Thank ya'll all so much.... i'm gonna need all ya'll.... littlered1, i would really love it if ya'll would write him.. he's on the outs with his dad right now, so that pretty much leaves only me and my mom, my sister and his brothers.. as the only family he has... so anything additional letters and such would be great.. however he did tell me today that they've changed his date from july to August 21st... BUT.. my nephew is going next month... and they are going to the same area.. my son is training to pick up and transport/protect, the prisoners my nephew's unit will be capturing... WOW.. not sure i'm strong enough for all this

We're a big family here and he will know it. Hell be the most popular soldier in his unit with all the goodies we send him. And you know we will all be here for you too!

Keep us updated and for sure I will write and send him stuff to make the time pass a little quicker for him. And also, I am here for you! There is a website called military moms, if you want to be a part of that, might help you. I joined the Patriot Gaurd Riders (a motorcycle group) while my daughter was gone. I thought it would be a big help to go to military funerals and also welcome homes, deployment goodbye parties. So not a good idea, I made one event and could not handle it at all. Maybe I will try again this summer while she is home but it was way too emeotional for me then. We are here for you though, just give me a pm if you need to talk!

Of course we will sed him cards, letters & goodies. PM all of us his info when he deploys. He'll have more "aunties" than he'll know what to do with!

My friend's son was deployed several years ago. We had many late night calls everytime she heard about news from over there.

You will get through this. You are stronger than you know. We will be there for you.

You can PM or email me anytime. My son has been deployed three times, so I understand.

Check your area for military support groups. Here's one I am involved in http://www.cafemom.com/profile/reg_landing.php?cb_id=militarymom_newlp&utm_medium=sem&utm_source=google&utm_content=militarymom_generalpost_newlp_sbus&utm_campaign=militarymom&use_mobile=0&utm_term=military%20mom%20support&flow=military_general&SR=sr3_171149973_go&gclid=CJKpq_WCo64CFSwDQAod6mnWSg
