So I have been having problems with my vertigo, so I call my hearing/ear dr to make an appt. The lady says first available is end March. WTF my problem is now, not 2 months from now...
If you can't see someone w/ in a week (should be less) from when I call then screw you!! I will find a new dr.!!!!

Go to one of those walk in medical centers. They usually take you within an hour. No appt needed.

I'm not talking about a clinic. I'm talking about one of those walk in centers that are OWNED by the hospital.

WTH is with your insurance company, not allowing you to go to one of those?? lol

I had a problem that required a urologist. My doctor got me a referral for my insurance company. The doctor they sent me to couldn't see me for over two months. I told them I'd either be dead or cured by then. The appointment would have been next Wednesday. I am cured. lol Winner!

When I have a need and cannot see my MD the clinic has an Urgent Care Clinic (you have to make an appt but you WILL be seen same day) ....nothing like that for you?

What insurance company are you with? I have NEVER heard of any in Florida that don't cover urgent care places.

I have tricare/champus also...are you on standard or prime? Prime is like an hmo, i have stardard...i can go
anywhere. Call your health benefits advisor, they will have to get you in! I am looking for the # for you now,
but everything is in boxes...be back one way or another, vertigo can be dangerous, just from a fall getting up,
and please don't drive.

Soft smiles.

OKAY, I SPOKE TOO FAST, MY SON'S AREN'T HERE, AND I CAN'T GET TO BOXES ALONE, THEY ARE IN OUR SHED, SO I GOOGLED THIS FOR YOU, FIND THE # FOR YOUR REGION. ACTUALLY, I USUALLY CALL AN AMBULANCE, AND EVEN THO' I STAY TWO TO 3 NIGHTS, THE MILITARY WILL MARK IT AS "OUT PATIENT CARE" BECAUSE THEY ARE OBSERVING ME.
BUT MY MEDICAL PROBLEMS SOMETIMES, GETS EXTREME...THE MILITARY PAYS 80% AND I PAY 20% UP TO
$3000 CATASTROPIC CAP, THEN I PAY NOTHING THE REST OF THE YEAR.

Well, the clinic I was referring to is the same clinic where my doc works, therefore they have access to my records, etc. I can be seen by any doc there and my insurance covers it. I have to say that insurance companies are very strange. Awhile back I had an apt with my doc for my yearly and I had to talk to her about something else as well. She said I would have to make a second appt because insurance wouldn't cover it. So they would rather pay for TWO appts? They have since changed their policy but it makes me wonder if they're not run by monkeys!

we are prime..And we can only use our Primary, and specialist they send us to w/ a referral, and the ER..since we are retired all visits are copay which is like $12primary and $25ER
They are trying to start a new program to use urgent care in some south areas but they list the ones you can see and it is over 2 hours away..and that's only a program for active duty..

Got an apt to see the neurologist today and see if he can help...

That's why we went standard...also retired military. At first when they started this change, years ago...
Your primary care would be at the local military hospital, had three of my children in navy hands. 2 were
born in great lakes, and one at balboa in san diego. But once you retire, you never know where you'll settle
down, at least we didn't. Wound up in indiana, hubby lost his job, and we came here to texas. Do you know
that you still can go anywhere, with hba's direction to numerous doctors? Especially if your not near a base,
and something like 50 miles for an outside doctor...you will get one closer to you.

How did your appt. With your neurologist go? Are you feeling better or was he another one of those
"assembly line workers" as i call them, you wait what seems like forever...and then they say un huh...
And your out within 2 minutes, with a few scripts in hand? Hope not. I have so many problems finding
a new doc that i'm comfortable with, with all the military moves...now the divorce. One last move for
me...gonna go visit a few children who married, and we had to leave behind, some relatives, that are long
past due to visit, and will decide where i'll be after that. I hope you are feeling better, and it sounded
like you were having a blast w/ 3lilpigs! (the adding post) ha!

Smiles.

Thanks for asking....put me on a steroid to clear up a possible virus in the ear that is contributing to the vertigo..Have to cut out salty foods..:O(
I hate that feeling of being dizzy and then falling down...I feel like I am walking crooked so I can tell it is about to happen..
This all stems from 2 failed inner ear surgeries for hearing...now I am left with hearing loss in 1 ear, vertigo, ringing in my ear..and 3 meds for my ear problem for the rest of my life...sucks...but other then that I am ok..lol

3 lilpigs and I like to joke a lot..so don't take it personally

One of my doctors has a policy if you arrive 15 minutes after your appointment time you have to pay out of pocket for that visit plus make a new appointment. You will not be seen that day. My problem is why can't I charge him for the hour he kept me waiting in his reception area.

Wow that is crazy. The more crazy stuff I hear about other Dr offices it makes me so thankful that I have a great Dr. and she doesn't care what I am there for if I have a question she will sit, listen and discuss it with me.

Oh, my doc is terrific! It's the insurance company that was loony. My doc answers any & all questions I have, we talk about life, etc. She only writes RX for meds I NEED and not just to get me out of the office. AND...I get a kiss and hug before I leave the office besides! She takes good care of me and always speaks her mind, which I appreciate.

With everything that my husband has been going through since his accident, we didn't know that the hospital has been sending all of the reports to his family doctor. I guess one of his home nurses made an appoinment for him at his regular family doctor and failed to mention it. So the doctor sent him a certified letter the other day that said because of the extensive nature of your case and the fact that you missed an appoinment I will no longer be your doctor. Husband hasn't been to this doctor in well over a year for anything. Didn't even know he had an appoinment. He called him and left a messege... but this doctor never calls back.

If that doc had been informed that the nurse made the appointment and neglected to inform your hubby and still booted him, sounds like you're well-rid of the doc. If he's not aware of the circumstances and yet refuses to return your call anyhow, you're well-rid of him. I have all kinds of things going on in my body and go to a couple different docs other than my family doc. In spite of all the specialists a person may need, I'm of the opinion that we always need our family doc. Hopefully, your hubby will get another family doc to deal with the everyday stuff of health care, keeping him healthy in the other aspects of his body/health & life. We all need those tests that should be done on a regular basis to maintain good health.

RE: "3 lilpigs and I like to joke a lot..so don't take it personally" LOL, NEVER! I ENJOY WATCHING YOU TWO HAVING FUN..
AND YOU WERE SITTING DOWN, HAVING FUN... IT EQUALED NO FALLS! I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD HAVE HAD A MIDDLE
EAR INFECTION, AS THAT WILL THROW OFF ANYONE'S EQUAL LIBRIUM, CAN ONLY IMAGINE WITH VERTIGO ON TOP??? DID THE
ANTIBIOTICS HELP? IF SO, THEN IT WAS BACTERIAL, NOT VIRAL. YOU CAN ALWAYS TELL THE DIFFERENCE BY PULLING DOWN
ON YOUR EAR LOBES...IF IT HURTS, IT'S BACTERIAL, IF IT DOESN'T IT VIRAL, AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO TAKE ANTIBIOTICS
FOR THAT, YOUR BODY WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME IMMUNE TO THEM. MY SON RANDY JR., NOW 28, HAD TO HAVE TUBES PLACED
INTO HIS EARS AS A CHILD, I LEARNED THE EAR LOBE TRICK FROM A VERY WISE PEDIATRICIAN WHO WAS IN HER 70'S. SHE PASSED NOT LONG AFTER THAT, AND EVERY DOC I ASKED THAT ABOUT, SAID IT WAS TRUE! WELL, WHY DON'T THEY TELL PARENTS OF THIS
WHEN A CHILD HAS MAJOR EAR PROBLEMS? I HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER, BUT THE ONLY WAY I CAN ASSOCIATE VERTIGO,
AND A MIDDLE EAR INFECTION WAS IN MY YOUNGER DAYS...LOL, RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC HERE, AND THAT ROOM, DANG IT!
IT JUST WOULD NOT STOP SPINNING! HA! LMBO!

SMILES.

My Mom had vertigo for awhile a few times, it would come and go. I think hers was something to do with a middle ear infection. I know they gave her some pills that helped. I have had it one time from a reaction to something going on in my body at the time. It is terrible, you can't walk straight or hardly do anything. Hope you get some relief and soon!!!!
