Cain on 'Occupy': They want handouts
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain slammed Occupy Wall Street protesters camped out in New York City's Zuccotti Park Friday as hypocrites who would "rather have a handout than work."
"Visiting New York this week, I found the organized street protests against Wall Street were the talk of the town. But I'm sorry -- they lost me at hello," writes Cain in a New York Post op-ed.
Cain argues that capitalism is the main driver of job creation in the United States, and criticizes protesters for the hypocrisy of attacking corporations that supply them with the technologies they themselves use.
"It's ironic that protesters who have uniformly attacked the rich and corporate CEOs happen to sport iPods, iPhones and other innovative technological tools that entrepreneurs have worked so hard to invent, build and distribute to consumers," he writes.
Cain added that the movement included unsavory elements that were confused or conspiratorial, generating "tirades over big business, to 9/11 conspiracy theories, to admitting not even knowing why they're there."
He also notes that the Occupy Wall Street movement didn't appear to have any discrete or specific goals, other than to ask for more government spending that would benefit them.
"I have a hard time imagining what these protesters think will come of [these demonstrations] -- that Wall Street execs will come running out of their offices to write them a check?" writes Cain in The Post.
The former Godfather's Pizza CEO uses his family as an example of the American dream's fulfillment. He points out that his parents - "rich in ideas, faith and love - at one point worked four jobs between them to achieve their goals and provide for their family.
The demonstrators need to understand, Cain says, that attacking the rich doesn't help the poor.
"That's not America -- and not how American dreams are made. Empowerment is the key to success, not entitlement. So those asking for a handout on Wall Street, my message is this: 'if you're not rich, don't blame the rich -- go out there and work for it. You have to earn it," Cain writes.

Cain Dogged by Questions Beyond ‘9-9-9’
By SANDYHYA SOMASHEKHAR, The Washington Post
October 14, 2011He opposes abortion, including in cases of rape and incest. He thinks Iran could be deterred from aggression by deploying more warships. And he is a proponent of privatized Social Security.
But just one topic — his “9-9-9” tax plan — has dominated Herman Cain’s rhetoric in this presidential race, helping to propel him to the top of Republican polls this month.
And that has prompted questions about what else he stands for and whether he has the breadth of knowledge — particularly on foreign policy — expected of an occupant of the White House.
An examination of Cain’s words — his remarks as a radio talk-show host, as well as his writings, interviews and speeches — shows a man thoroughly steeped in conservative ideology. He has said that climate change is a scam, that he would not have survived cancer under the Obama administration’s health-care overhaul, and that the United States is on the brink of a socialist takeover.
In the style of an evangelist who can bring audiences to their feet, Cain has used his soapboxes to rebut criticism of the tea party movement, berate liberals and President Obama, and defend conservatives and Republicans against accusations of racism.
Reforming the tax code has been a keen interest since his days as the chief executive of Godfather’s Pizza in the 1990s. But outside of his tax ideas, Cain rarely gets into specifics. That is partly in keeping with his style of connecting with voters by communicating his ideas in basic, catchy terms.
“If you understand the simple concepts,” Cain writes in his recently published book, quoting an old teacher, “you will be able to deal with the complex concepts.”
It is also in keeping with his candor and the everyman persona he has cultivated on the campaign trail. Conservative audiences have found something compelling in his story, that of an African American who grew up in the segregated South and rose to become a successful business executive. And they have been energized by his passionate, humor-laced speeches.
In recent interviews, Cain has called it hubris to claim to know the minutiae of every major issue.
He has extolled the importance of leaders surrounding themselves with able advisers (though he has demurred when asked who his advisers are). He has shown repeatedly that, when faced with a tough question, he is not afraid to admit he doesn’t know the answer.
Asked during a campaign stop in New Hampshire this week about a specific deduction under his tax plan, he replied: “I have no idea. But it’s a good question.”
Cain offers a nine-page position paper he calls the “Cain Doctrine” in his book, “This is Herman Cain! My Journey to the White House,” which was published this month. In it, he proposes empowering states to resolve on their own challenges with illegal immigration, promoting greater domestic energy production and encouraging vigilance against the Islamic principles known as sharia law, which he warns could “seep into American life.”
He pledges support for Israel, but says he has too little information to opine on the war in Afghanistan or on events unfolding in other nations.
“It’s difficult to say how the Cain Doctrine would apply to the Middle East’s other countries, especially those affected by the ‘Arab Spring,’ and to nations elsewhere in the world,” he writes. “I’m not trying to escape the broader issues, but I think a president should first be briefed on classified intelligence about America’s relationships before offering opinions.”
Early in the campaign, Cain was criticized after he appeared unclear in an interview with Fox News’s Chris Wallace about the meaning of the Palestinian “right of return.” Cain has since studied the subject and visited Israel in August, a spokesman said.
More recently, he has proposed beefing up the nation’s ballistic missile capabilities and positioning warships in international waters as a show of force against Iran.
Cain also provoked controversy when he said repeatedly that he would not appoint a Muslim to his Cabinet. He later apologized and said he meant he would not appoint those with terrorist tendencies.
Cain is less conservative than some of his rivals on certain issues. He has said that he favors some forms of affirmative action, and he once opposed school vouchers, which he now supports. He also has not called for the wholesale elimination of the federal Education Department.
Cain, who is also a Baptist minister, has dabbled in social issues over the years. During an unsuccessful run for a U.S. Senate seat in Georgia in 2004, Cain made abortion the centerpiece of his campaign. He positioned himself to the right of the front-runner and eventual victor, Johnny Isakson (R), and argued that abortion should be permitted only when the life of the mother is threatened and not in cases of rape or incest.
But Cain’s interest in the tax code has been more of a signature issue, stemming from 1995, when congressional Republicans appointed him to a flat-tax commission.
Five years later, he became national co-chairman of the presidential campaign of Steve Forbes — before Cain, the best-known proponent of the flat income tax. Cain has since become a supporter of the “fair tax,” which would eliminate all federal taxes except a 23 percent national sales tax. He considers 9-9-9 to be a step toward that end.
Cain has also been a proponent of the “Chilean model” to reform Social Security. The South American nation established mandatory private retirement accounts for its citizens in 1981.
Still, his campaign has hinged almost exclusively on his proposal to throw out the tax code and replace it with a 9 percent income tax, a 9 percent business tax and a 9 percent national sales tax.
He uttered the series of digits 16 times over the course of a 90-minute debate this week hosted by The Washington Post and Bloomberg News. He brought it up recently when Fox News host Greta Van Susteren asked him his solution to the housing crisis. In a recent interview with The Post, Cain said he has become so closely associated with the plan that people often call out the numbers when they spot him at the airport.
“They think my last name is 9-9-9,” he joked. “That’s quite a compliment. That means it’s resonating. It’s easy to understand and powerful. I think that’s one of the reasons why people around the country are starting to know who I am and starting to identify me with solutions, not rhetoric.”
And Cain is unapologetic about the single-mindedness of his campaign. Asked recently whether he would be able to name the president of Uzbekistan, Cain mocked the name of the Central Asian nation and spoke derisively of “small insignificant states.”
“When they ask me who is the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan, I’m going to say, ‘You know, I don’t know. Do you know?’ And then I’m going to say, ‘How’s that going to create one job?’ ” Cain said in an interview last week with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
“When I get ready to go visit that country, I’ll know who it is,” he continued. “But until then I want to focus on the big issues that we need to solve.”

Cain seems to have taken quite a beating lately over some sexual misconduct that allegedly has happened and now a 13 year affair?
It seemed when others were accused of such things there were times, dates, photos, witnesses, charge receipts, hotel reservations, apartments, etc. I only saw a phone bill showing some texts sent and calls made over the years. Not the content of the texts were shown. He's never denied knowing this person, just claims he's helped her through the years. She also seems to be not such a stellar person and questionable background.
Seems like if someone had a sordid affair for 13 years, there'd be a lot more evidence than that.
I'm strongly getting the feeling that he's being set up and lied about. Someone out there is trying very hard to have him not in the running.....
Who was the candidate who had lots of money, was very promising but withdrew a few years back because his family was threatened?

I don't know if it's true or not but I believe it's taking a toll on his wife and family. I bet she doesn't know what to believe by now. You would think that in thirteen years she'd have pictures of them together unless he's really good at what he does like Tiger Woods was.

I agree, but not sure if its just the DNC or the GOP, but Cain is not a Politician, and I don't think either party cares for that idea, might not be able to have 'control' over a non-political person.

There were rumors of a "Campaign Aide" working for Obama who became pregant and was hustled off to a cushy job as a hotel manager in the Virgin Islands. The media ignored it while kicking up a storm about an affair the McCain supposedly had at the same time.

OK, I happened to catch a glimpse of local news this past week, and it seems all the REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR's had a get-together down in Florida this past week, while all this stuff was happening to Cain, and one of the outcomes was 'they' decided that a president should be a prior GOVERNOR, and no-less when running for office. Too bad Senator's can Congresspeople.

I was all for Cain. More so because he never held public office. Our constitution allows for any natural born citizen to run as long as they are 35 years old or more. I so loved the concept. he also believed as I do, that those in office today do not work for us but rather themselves. He seemed like a get it done type man. If these accusations have him backing out, then he was a much weaker man than he initially portrayed himself to be. Clinton had these issues before he was elected.

I think it was a matter of the Opposition was going to continue to throw mud and throw mud and do anything to create scandal to detract and distract from the issues. Cain may or may not have been inappropiate ... but the MSM was not going to cover anything else. Case in point - 7 year old snatched off the playground and the local news lead with a story on Cain instead of a missing and "endangered" child. Interesting what the priorities are...

There were too many for something not to have happened. If some of it isn't true then why did the place he worked for give one of them a settlement. We'll see if his wife files for divorce now that he's not running.

Ginger White: Another Loser Trying to Cash in

Ok, so here we go again. Now it's Ginger White's turn, except instead of sexual harassment she claims a 13 year affair with Herman Cain. I don't know what happened, or if anything happened, I wasn't there, but I have a few thoughts.
There is a record of 61 phone calls and texts messages on her phone bill. A news channel called the number and Herman answered - so what does that mean? There is the way he signed a book to her, "Friends are forever, everything else is a bonus." Let me pause for a moment to say, I'm not going to sugar coat truth. I am a blunt force, in your face, straight forward, common sense conservative. I'm not here to blindly follow a person everything else be damned. I say that too say, I happen to believe in Herman Cain, I also understand how the attack game is played, and why it is played.
If you are a good ol' boy on the inside, who votes the right way, supports the right things, and supports their globalist plans for the future, you are indemnified against such attacks regardless of your behavior. I digress to say that news rooms today are absolute dens of iniquity on any number of levels, yet they sit in judgement others.
To that point let's turn to Ms. White. Having someone's private number doesn't mean any more than that. And, let's say for the sake of argument they did have some sort of consensual interlude, if that's what it was shouldn't it end there? Until I know definitively I am not prepared to condemn him, nor am I prepared to say it impairs his ability to run the country, less we forget a lot of great leaders who recovered from similar. As for the inscription in the book he gave her, my very first thought is that he was saying what I and I'm certain you have said or thought many times, i.e., that if you have "friendship" you have the best and everything else you have is just wonderful extras. What's so hard too understand about that? There is nothing tawdry or earthy about that inscription. Who would disagree with the truth of it? The media is trying to make us think it was a cryptic way of saying being her friend was nice, but getting in her pants was nicer. There is nothing to suggest that's what that means, in fact common sense dictates just the opposite.
A couple other things. Why are these women all scripted the same? The stated reason for trying to grab their 15 minutes of fame is they were concerned about the way the other women were being treated. Interesting they weren't concerned when, if what they say is true, they were contributing to the destruction of a family. And, the phrase "if what they are saying is true" should have a huge question mark behind it.
One question I have and I posited it in response to comments on this page last night is, what kind of man would Herman be to spend 13 years in a clandestine affair with a woman who has two small children and let her go through six evictions and no job? Does that sound likely, or does it sound more likely that Herman is a garrulous, outgoing type of individual who doesn't consider that people can be treacherous, because he doesn't view the world that way?
Isn't it just as possible that her having his private number is nothing more than that? I have given my private number many times for no other reason than I will answer that number. My other number with rare exception went right to voicemail. My standing joke was that if you called my private number, at least I knew it was someone I wanted to talk to that I wasn't answering at that moment.
Another thing that hasn't been mentioned. How old are White's children? She had a 13 year affair but was she busy having babies at the same time? Also this woman has a background more checkered than the woman who accused the Duke lacrosse team of rape. Remember how everyone jumped to the conclusion that her word was gospel, after all event the district attorney said the players were guilty. Today the accuser, who was proven to be certifiable, is in jail for stabbing her boyfriend to death as he slept. This is after she was in and out of jail for other offenses before the murder. Her background was paved with illegitimate children, battery, lies, prostitution, ad nauseum.
Now we have Ms. White: her former business partner found it necessary to sue her and accused her of stalking. She had a order of protection taken out against White. White was also charged with bombarding her former partner with threatening texts and emails, threatening lawsuit and defaming her character. Hmmm, defaming her former business partner's character, sounds like what she is trying to do to Herman doesn't it?
White filed a sexual harassment suit in 2001 this during the same time she was supposedly involved with Herman. Can you imagine a professional like Herman being involved with someone like that?
Another thing we need to address and I cannot tell you how much I wish I had thought of it first, but alas, it was one of my twitter followers who happens to be a woman. She questioned what kind of superman Herman must be since he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the colon in 2006. This would have been in the middle of the affair she claims they had. She intimates that their relationship was just physical, but she doesn't tell us how that works with a man who is dying of cancer and undergoing rigorous, aggressive cancer treatment for same.
At the very least I argue this may have been, and I emphasize "may have been" something. What it was who knows, but Herman says it wasn't an affair and I find him more credible than her. Another thing, if a person cannot be a serial philanderer and harasser and not have others know it. As I wrote in my daily rant "More evidence that demands an answer" a woman who worked very closely with him stated emphatically that there wasn't a hint of impropriety by Herman, not a whisper. She said, that women in an office full of secretaries, not only know what is going on, but they talk about it and there was never a thing mentioned about Herman.
There is one thing people don't realize who do not live in a bubble. There are people out there who will turn kindness and innocence into something ugly. It's the way they are. I will also say I find it interesting that all of the accusations are coming out of his time in Chicago. Did he simply lose his mind in Chicago and recover when he left?
I seriously hope that Herman doesn't drop out. I hope he doesn't let these Erebusic elapids from the trenches of hell have their way. We need him. I refuse to accept that Herman cannot be elected. Accusations of sexual impropriety are the most difficult to overcome and they are always leveled at Republicans. President Eisenhower was accused of having affairs, Ronald Reagan was accused and when that didn't work they attacked him as having cheated with Nancy on his first wife. The first President Bush was accused of having affairs and a woman on the side. But the greatest philanderer in modern presidential history John Kennedy was unmentioned in the same way. Bill Clinton committed battery against women and is viewed as an elder statesman, but these people want to take Herman down. They are trying to paint Herman as a Dominick Strauss Khan, even though he was set up to keep him from being elected the president of France.
Let there be no doubt about it, these attacks are being orchestrated, they are an attempt to push him out. If he stays in the race how many more will they wheel out? Will they stop at double digits, high teens? How many more will they find to slither out?
A couple final thoughts. Herman is rich, powerful, educated, he is at the top of the food chain, are these the kind of women you would imagine him getting involved with? They fear what Herman will do to destroy the old way of doing business. I will tell you without fear of contradiction, anyone else is just more of the same.
One last thing. I condemn Megyn Kelly of Fox News in the strongest possible terms. In an interview with the pollster Rasmussen she mentioned every candidate but Herman. She intentionally omitted him. She has an obligation to report and she has shown her blatant bigotry toward a man who is accused. She is supposedly a lawyer, what part of her law degree says a man is guilty because of innuendo, rumor, and unfounded accusations? Now that Fox has become the sister station to MSNBC I guess it's her opinion that fairness no longer applies.

I'm not sauying I would vote for the man.....but something here stinks to high heaven. :agree
I caught Ginger being interviewed briefly and she said, "I don't hink he's qualified to be president." Like, as if, she is anyone who has an opinion of value. Duh.:stupid:
And wow, all this and more comes out of.......Chicago....:shuffle
