My husband got one and only used it a few times, said it wasn't strong enough. He's still smoking as well.

I also heard that the chemicals used in them are dangerous.
"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in antifreeze.
"Electronic cigarettes, also called “e-cigarettes,” are battery-operated devices that generally contain cartridges filled with nicotine, flavor and other chemicals. The electronic cigarette turns nicotine, which is highly addictive, and other chemicals into a vapor that is inhaled by the user." Yuck!

Don't do it, it makes you want to go out and buy the "real thing".
Patch or lozenges, I hear these are great.

Well at least you all care enough to tell me
I tried the patch but I got hives so my doctor
Gave me nicotrol ns it cost my poor hubby
200.00 but they work and I don't get hives
Does anyone know why the patch would give me hives

I couldn't use a patch of any kind either because my skin is so sensitive to the adhesive used. Sometimes I break out when I use a Band-Aid brand bandage.

Good luck, stopping smoking isn't easy for most people and you are doing a good job. Just don't give into temptation of smoking or even a drag off a cigarette or you will most likely have to start all over again.

I gotta stop too... before I can have bariatric surgery. I have quit for a couple of weeks before but it's gonna be really hard... I may have to pm you for friendly support when it comes to where I absolutely have to... it gives me anxiety just thinking about it.

Funny, I had been wanting to want to quit smoking for a very long time. And then my husband had a triple bypass and I knew he'd know when I stepped outside at home that I would be smoking (neither of us smoked in the house) and it would be hard on him. So, I quit. Cold turkey. Eight years ago and I have only been seriously tempted once since then.
justme23, you do what you have to do and get on with life. I know with such a serious surgery in your future that you will do what you have to do, for yourself and I wish you the strength to do it!
BTW, husband has been struggling with smoking for the last 4 years, trying to quit, failing, trying some more. Right now, he isn't smoking. But his surgery was a blessing for me, otherwise I would still be smoking.
