Are any of you being hit by Lee? This hurricane is a slow mover and the area I am in is getting flooded. They had to call the divers in to get some people out of there homes. PG they said is like a island, the Swatara Creek always runs over and floods when we get lots of rain. My sis in law had her house flooded in 2006 from the storms and now they are worried the Schuylkill River will go over its banks again and flood. They were going door to door last night in her area telling people the river could over its banks. She called us at 2 AM for help, hubby went over and they loaded the bakery flour which is in bags. (They own a bakery) and helped her get her cats and dogs out here. They will be here probably until Fri. I think the worse is suppose to be over by then but now sure. Lots of roads in the area and county are flooded and it is still raining.

We've had over 10" here & it is still raining. Local schools are closed. I live in a valley & so many roads are closed it is unreal. My backyard looks like a lake. I've had some water in my finished basement & my wet/dry vac went kaput. Got to go & find one.

Hershey Park is under water????

Parts of it, yes. Go to abcnews27 on facebook and check out their photos.

That intersection where Wendy's, Mc's and Pizza Hut is, is (as of last night) about 4 feet under water!! I *heard* that the Pizza Hut collapsed......not sure how true that is though.

I know they are evacuating over 100,000 people from Wilkes Barre by this afternoon. The levee system protects them to 40' so it sounds like the river is going to be higher than that.

Is that where you are?

Weatherchannel.com is saying mandatory evacuation by 4pm. Expected to crest at 41' between 4-8pm.

Now you understand why we take steps even when it is "only" a Tropical Storm.... NOAA isn't even tracking Lee any longer and you see the chaos she's causing

That's because YOU have common sense. :lol

Not like these other people who think it's foolish to prepare ahead of time.

What's that saying.......something like ''prepare for the worst.......hope for the best??" (is that right? lol)

Wanna hear something funny. (or not??)

I have my alarm set to play music when it goes off, and guess what song woke me up............

REM's "It's the End of the World!" :lol

Tell me this isn't weird........

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes,
an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn,

We had the earthquake first.......
then the hurricane and tropical storm.......
and sadly, yesterday an airplane crash with a Russian Hockey Team on board! :O

(I don't know who Lenny Bruce is, but if I hear about him today, I'm running for cover! LOL)

Lenny Bruce was the very first comic who used the "F-word" in a comdey routine & he was basically blacklisted. I think this was in the 50's or maybe 60's.
I'm about 20 miles from Wilkes Barre & I live a bit outside Hazleton. I live in a valley so all of the creeks were over their banks yesterday so I imagine it is even worse today. I just need to figure out a way home that avoids any creek or stream which isn't an easy task.
I was actually planning on going to Wilkes Barre tonight to return a pair of shoes which I guess I am now going to be keeping.

I'm in NW Ohio and the weathermen here are saying the rain and drizzle we've had the past few days is from Lee. I can't imagine being flooded like that.

Wow, it looks like Hershey got hit pretty bad. Yep, poor bison, you would think they would have tried to move them out.

They did try. They were the last 2 animals to be moved, but they couldn't move them. They said they wouldn't budge, they kept trying to pull back. I guess they could sense something was wrong and wanted to stay in their 'home.' They ended up having to put them down instead of letting them drown.

There's a whole big stink about it on the Hershey FB page. People having a fit over it. I guess they don't realize how hard it is to move a 1500 pound animal who refuses to go. But out of all the animals at the zoo, those were the only 2 that didn't make it, so I think they did a pretty good job.

Reports today, said the road at that intersection have buckled and chunks of it are washing away.

If these 2 wouldn't move short of harnessing them to some kind of machine to lift and move them, I agree they did do good. At least they put them down and didn't let them drown. I think that would have been horrible.
This flood has left devastation in its wake. We were fortunate that we didn't have any damage. Our basement takes in water but the sump pump kept it out and my yard is a marshland now. But it will dry up unlike all the homes and businesses that have been ruined by this.
Did you have any damage at your place? Do you live in Hershey?

No, I'm not in Hershey. I'm about 30-45 mins away. I go there a lot though and it's just sad to see the park underwater.

So far, no water damage here, just one big swamp in the back yard. More rain predicted for the next 3 days.....but not as much as the past few days.

I'm in PG & let me tell you that poor town was hit hard. It will take years to recover from this one.

I have been helping out where I can but you just don't know to start. I am so glad my home is on a hill & not in the town.

I wonder when hollywierd is going to show up & help us out? Oh yeah, that's right..... they won't come in since we are 99% white folk here.

We had looters but hopefully that's all over with. The recerves finally packed up & went home. I can't thank all the volunteers enough for everything that have done for those poor people that were hit.

If you youtube PINE GROVE FLOOD you will see the jest of it but even so, it's after some of the water receded.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZN13cIGNbQ&feature=related Is this the one you were referring too? I recognized the trailer court where they make the trailers, grocery store, tank and swimming pool. The rest I didn't recognize. I drove out that way the other day and got as far as the grocery store and turned around. Traffic was backing up to go into town. I figured I didn't need to go that way so left. I have googled and searched and found other photos and videos of PG.
I figured it was getting bad when I looked out the window and saw the rescue boat things going down the road. I saw the Red Cross going that way also a day or so later. Can you get into town now and is all the water gone yet from the town? I rarely go out that way unless I want Arby's.
In 2006 when haven flooded my sis in law's house got flooded in that flood. It took them a while to get cleaned up and back on there feet from that.
Glad you were safe and didn't loose your home from the flood.

Yeah, that was the main video I was speaking about. It makes me cry everytime I watch it. BG's is my store & I can't wait until they reopen. I hate Berger's store so I don't have any place to stop for a while.

Everytime it floods I go downtown & help out where I can but this is the worst I have ever witnessed. I was 8 years old for the one in 1972 but I also lived in Reading back then.

Most of the roads are opened now. Going from Pine Grove to Tremont is closed so you have to jump on 81 & go that way. I have to go up past Keefer's road & the dump to get past Daubert's & get to Buddy's log cabin. A few back roads in the township are still closed & it will take months or years to get those roads fixed.

I saw a few things yesyerday that brought a smile to my face. One guy has one of those cut out shagow people leaning up against his tree in the front yard so he took his sump pump hose & tied it to it so now it looks like the cut out man is taking a leak!

Down by the trailer park & the Fish & Game someone has one of those black yard jockey's holding a sign that reads...... waiting for obama.....

So far (besides clothling) I got my friends on FB to donate some sofas & I am donating some furniture from my home too. If you have anything you can spare let me know or if you have clothing to spear the church on 501 (when you start going up the mountain towards Berks) are accepting donations.
