WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A 17-year-old boy is accused of bludgeoning his parents with a hammer, then hosting dozens of friends for a party while their bodies lay in the bedroom, police said Monday.

Tyler Hadley of Port St. Lucie is charged with twin counts of first-degree murder in the deaths, which authorities say happened Saturday. He is being held without bond at a juvenile detention center in Fort Pierce and it's not immediately known whether he has an attorney.

The parents — Blake and Mary-Jo Hadley — were believed to have been struck with the hammer in their heads and torsos sometime after their son posted on Facebook around 1:15 p.m. Saturday alerting friends to an evening party at his house, about 50 miles north of West Palm Beach.

Investigators believe the parents were attacked outside their master bedroom and the bodies were moved into the bedroom and the door locked.

As many as 60 people attended the party that night, according to Port St. Lucie Police spokesman Tom Nichols. They were loud enough to prompt a noise complaint and a visit by police officers. When they arrived at 1:30 a.m. Sunday to warn about the noise, the party was already breaking up, Nichols said.

Then, police said, they received a tip that murder may have taken place. They returned to the home at 4:20 a.m., finding the bodies covered with towels, files, books and other household items, and the hammer between them.

The mother, 47, was an elementary school teacher. The father, 54, worked for Florida Power and Light.

Autopsies were underway, but police said they believed they died of blunt-force trauma.

Hadley had attended St. Lucie West Centennial High School, according to police, but had not graduated. They said they did not know what the motive was.

Motive? He wanted to have a party and they said no. How DARE they!?! :mad:

~~

like casey anthony, he just wanted to live the party life and his parents were in the way... another sign of our times where people's selfishness often results in tragedy

~~

It is only in America that a child can call the cops for his parent because of spanking and the authority will treat the parent as a criminal. If we don't discipline our children this is what we get. I also learn that a teacher can not shout at a pupil or scold him for misbehaviour.Tthis is not how our great ancestors built the greatest nation on earth . Time to wake up and bring discipline back to our school system and homes.. This young man should be kept away from human society for the rest of his life.

~~~
And the government wants to tell me I can't discipline my children?? I discipline them so that they grow up to respect me, other adults, their peers and themselves & not turn out like this sicko. Now parents are living their lives afraid of their own children. This world is upside down!
~~~

I read in a more extended version of this story, on another news site, that they still don't have a motive... I think they are going to start seeing more and more crimes that lack any reasonable motive, because society is just getting more and more sociopathic/narcissistic. so many people have been utterly desensitized that a totally irrational end (partying) justifies the appalling means (murder). it's pathetic, really, into what society has disintegrated.

~~~
Problem we have in the US. Can't discipline kids anymore. Some people say it isn't right. Well, Teachers fear School Board, School Board fears parents, Parents fear kids and Kids fear no one. Grow up with no fear of consequences and you grow up with no fear.
I grew up in a time when we feared parents finding out about our wrongdoings. Would rather have Dean at school handle the situation than have parents find out because we knew it would be worse if parents found out. This sort of thing didn't happen no where near as much back then as I hear today!!
Another example of the "I want what I want and I want it now," generation.
~~~

About a month ago I spanked my son at wal mart cuz he was throwin' a fit, and this lady told me that I shouldnt be doing that because its child abuse. Then I noticed a teenager next to her with an ankle monitor and asked her if that was her son and she said yes and I told her maybe if you would have spanked him when he was younger he wouldnt have that monitor on him today. She got mad and walked away. People just because you spank your kid doesnt mean its child abuse...its child abuse when u brutally beat the child and leave marks & bruises. There is a difference between dicipline and abuse.

~~~
You kill two people...your parents no less...and then have a freaking Party. Wow, that is cold. :brrrr:
Teen held in parents' killings signs autographs
By MATT SEDENSKY | Associated Press – Fri, May 4, 2012
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A teenager accused of bludgeoning his parents with a hammer before hosting a party at their home signs jailhouse autographs exclaiming "It's hammer time," calls himself "hammer boy," and says he has seen and talked to the devil, a fellow inmate told police.
The inmate, Justin Toney, described 18-year-old Tyler Hadley's jailhouse fame in interviews outlined in investigative files released by prosecutors.
Hadley has pleaded not guilty in the bludgeonings last July of Blake and Mary-Jo Hadley. Toney told investigators that Hadley is known as "Hambo" and "Bamm-Bamm" by other inmates and that he has given autographs, including some on news articles about his case.
Every time a new inmate is admitted, Toney said in the Feb. 21 interview, Hadley makes an introduction. "What's up man?" Toney quoted Hadley as saying. "You know who I am? I'm the hammer boy."
The inmate says Hadley has given differing accounts of why he allegedly committed the crimes. First, he said, Hadley blamed it on medication he was on. Later, though, he said Hadley explained it was because he wanted to have a party and knew his parents wouldn't let him.
"All this to have a party?" Detective Kristin Meyer of the Port St. Lucie Police asked. "That's what he said," Toney replied.
Toney said Hadley told him he'd been contemplating the killings for about three weeks and had considered using a garden tool instead. "He said he seen the devil," Toney said. "He said he talked to the devil and the devil talked to him."
Still, there are glimpses of a different Hadley in the files. Toney said Hadley would sometimes bring him a ramen noodle cup, and often expressed remorse for his alleged crimes. In a log of a jailhouse visit with his older brother, Ryan, Hadley tells his brother he loves him and tells him to tell others he says hello and loves them too. Kelly Reynolds, who was interviewed by police but whose relationship to Hadley wasn't made clear, said he was an altar boy.
Hadley's public defender, Mark Harllee, did not return a call Friday seeking comment.
Hadley told a friend interviewed by police, Daniel Roberts, that his father had punched him in the face several times and had shown signs of injuries at times, according to the files. But Toney said Hadley told him he'd never been beaten or molested, and Ryan Hadley called his parents "awesome" and his brother a "pathological liar."
Police have said about 60 people gathered for a party at Hadley's house after his parents were killed, playing beer pong, smoking cigars and drinking. Friends described Hadley as being in a good mood and hospitable. Toney said Hadley claimed to have spent $2,000 on drugs and alcohol for the party, describing it as "so much fun." He said Hadley knew he had "shocked the world" and realized something about his parents as he allegedly attacked them with a hammer.
"I said, 'Did they try to stop you?'" Toney asked about the attack. "And he was like, 'No, that's how I knew that they really loved me.'"
Sounds like someone is working on an insanity defense.
..
This kid is seriously fvcked up in the brain. How can the system rehabilitate someone as permanently damaged as this kid? He needs to be executed or locked up FOREVER, no parole
