Only 1 week left and I'm out of this one horse town. I never liked Nashville. I have to get out of the South. I'm heading to Tempe, AZ for a month or so, hoping to couch surf or find a room to rent, while I just chill with my friends, enjoy the outdoors & study up on my spanish., then I'm gonna head down to South America for a bit. Want to check out Peru & Machu Picchu, then head down to Uruguay & see some friends that we met when we were there last year, then end my trip in Argentina. Hopefully going all the way down to Patagonia.
We had our Moving Sale this weekend & I ended up selling my beloved 66 Ford Falcon to a friend of mine, so I know it will be in good hands & he won't immediately pimp it out & re-sell it. In Tempe, I won't need a car & really.. I don't want to drive anymore!!! Living here in the South for too long gave me serious ROAD RAGE!!!!! (Am I the only one who knows that the left lane is the fast lane, or is that just a Florida thing?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?)
Husband is heading to Seattle, he found a place to live & was in sticker shock, when it came to rent prices! After the flood, his company gave him the option to relocate & since my sister lives there, we'll have family there. Thankfully the apt. he found is with-in walking distance to grocery stores & shopping, etc.. We'll be renting out our house here to a buddy of mine & thankfully he's really handy & wants to make improvements.
Once I'm done with running away & get over my mid-life crisis, I'll head on up to Seattle to join husband.
After the flood, I went alittle crazy, lost my mind, and now I'm going to go find it.
Thankfully my husband is a saint & is allowing me to go on this adventure. He knew how unhappy I've been for the past 4 1/2 yrs & what I went thru after the flood. I'm excited & scared at the same time.

Going just by myself.
Got my flight to Arizona yesterday & reserved a hotel for the first few nights.
Still trying to find a place to stay, but I'm not sweating that too much. My friends have offered me their couches, but I'm not one to inconvenience anyone. I've been searching craigslist for temp housing in Tempe, so it shouldn't be a problem finding a place., even for a month or 2 at the most.
I'll have the lap-top in AZ, but gonna ship it to husband before I head south.
I've already packed & re-packed like 7 times. I CAN'T TAKE EVERYTHING! LOL! Thankfully it'll be summer in South America, so I won't need sweaters & more than 1 pair of jeans, etc..
There is this program I'm looking into called WWOOF, worldwide organization of organic farmers, where you go live on someones farm & learn all about organic farming, etc.. I would love that, since I love the outdoors & hard work. So we'll see!!!!!
D'back ~ Husband'll be working in Tukwila., and I think our apt. is less than 10 miles from there.

Awesome! Reminds me a Nicholas Sparks book. "Three Weeks With My Brother" He & his brother went on a 3 week trip all over and left their wives/kids at home.
Sounds very exciting and I hope it fills the need deep within you. Be safe, have a glorious time and bring me back a pot. ;)

Have a safe and enjoyable trip. I envy you. I wish I could take a year away from my life but I can't. I am just praying Earl stays off the East Coast so I can get 1 week away from ringing phones!
Good luck, stay safe, enjoy & keep in-touch & post pictures!

Hey ladies!
Just checking in. I made it to Arizona last weekend & forgot my password, so I couldn't log on to post.
Tempe is great, so much has changed in the 5 years since I had left. A few of my favorite restaurants are closed, but with the addition of the light-rail train, and the free buses around town, that has certainly made up for the fact that I can't eat my favorite linguini & clams on the porch of my favorite restaurant and drink a pitcher of beer.
What I'm not pleased about it none of my friends are talking to each other anymore. So I'm stuck hearing everyones side of the story, I just want them all to let bygones be bygones., life is too damn short to hold grudges. Hopefully while I'm down I can get everyone together again, like the good ol'days!
Still planning to head to Peru here within the next 2 or 3 weeks.
I managed to get my own apt for this month & next, if I want to stay that long. The girl who lives here can't afford the apt right now, its her slow time of the year, so she's staying at her sisters while I pay her rent. Thankfully its nearly fully furnished, I did have to buy an air mattress, but the couch is super comfy too. What I don't like is no wi-fi in her apt , so I have to trek up to SafeWay or McDs and get on their free wi-fi., so it could be alot worse.
Husband is getting settled in Seattle and my sister has been helping him out, unpacking & taking care of my dog. Although she is trying to guilt me into coming there as soon as possible, saying that husband is setting up the house just for me and how much my dog misses me., but I'm not ready to go "home" again. The thought of going back to that life makes me cry, I told him before I flew out that whatever happens, I won't be coming back the same person, I just can't do it anymore., I can't be that perfect wife. I can't go grocery shopping, I can't cook, I can't do laundry, I just can't ... at least right now.
So for now, I'm enjoying life in Tempe, walking all over town and hanging out with my friends.

It certainly takes a lot of faith and courage to do what you are doing. I hope your spirit is fed in ways it needs to be, by Whom it needs to be. Be safe and experience it all!

After thinking long & hard plus the fact that its "IN SEASON" down in South America, I'm gonna head up to Seattle to be with my husband..probably going to wait until March to head down to South America, since it'll be fall there then & tickets will be cheaper.

what do you mean by "IN SEASON" down in South America?
Spring/Summer in South America now. It is much cheaper to fly down when it is in the Fall (Spring in North America).

what do you mean by "IN SEASON" down in South America?
Yeah, what SLance said. Right now flights are over 30% more than they will be than in March & hotel rooms are sometimes over 50% more.
