DH just killed one in the backyard. He thought he had been seeing one fly here and there. :getyou
Any tips or thoughts??? I can't stand bugs, let alone ones that fly and sting. Do you think the nest is somewhere in my backyard???? God I hope not!
Anyone dealt with these before?

Are you speaking of real hornets? the ones that are very large, black and have wings? or are you speaking of black wasps that some people call hornets? Hornets make a round closed nest that hangs down from a tree limb. My daughter had one of those in her yard several years back and she had to call a professional exterminator after her husband failed at getting rid of them.

They are definately Hornets.
We've been looking everywhere and haven't seen a nest. Am hoping its a neighbors problem lol. I can deal with one or two flying here and there. But a whole nest, NO!!!

I had an underground nest last year that was under my favorite rose bush. I tried EVERYTHING under the sun to kill it & nothing worked.
One morning I woke-up to find the entire nest was dug up complete with combs by what I am assuming a bear.
I thought that rose bush was a goner but it is beautiful this year however I now have Chip & Dale living under that rose bush. Those dang little critters dug straight through to the front of my house through a brick & cement retaining wall. I don't want to harm the little buggers but enough is enough. The joys of living the rural areas.

Call your local humane society and see if they have a trap you can borrow. My parents have had problems every year with those things, digging up under the swimming pool.
They called the humane society and got a trap.....when they're caught, they take them back to the HS, and then they are released in the woods.
