I have been reading up on these some, but would love to talk to someone who practices this diet regularly....or even occassionally as a fast. What were your experiences? Have any good sites you'd recommend? Do you follow this type of diet on a daily basis or just the occassional fast?
I'm really looking to jump start my weight loss efforts. Appreciate any advice/tips! Thanks!

I haven't but fad diets are not the way to go IMO. I bet you get a lot of gas or diarrhea when you start to eat so much fruit and veggies since your system is not use to it. Maybe start slow.

I agree with Janelle because what happens when you go back to "normal" eating? You gain it all back and then some!
Now I did try a veggie/fruit diet a few yrs back (wasnt the true "raw" diet though) and I was sick as a dog after the first few days. I seriously thought I was going to die!!!!! Gas, diarrhea, bloating etc etc. It was BAD!!!!

My doctor put me on a plant based diet but not to lose weight although I did initially lose weight on it. Now I am pretty much at the same weight but I am willing to take some of your extra pounds off of you.
Fresh fruit & veggies are the mainstays of my diet. I have a Jack LaLane juicer so I make fresh fruit juice & smoothies almost everyday. I steam my veggies & use sea salt, pepper, garlic powder & some sprinkle cheese as seasonings. Butter, margarine & sauces are no-no's. I use those Glad steam bags which work awesome.
For dinner yesterday I had steamed asparagus, broccoli, & cauliflower. I made a tomato salad with skim mozerella cheese & a regular side salad with low fat dressing. I had a hard time finishing it.
I will warn you that you will go to the bathroom alot. It is not like people reported like Alli. You will get hungrier more often but that is when I eat a bananna instead of chips. Watch eating sugary fruit like oranges in evening. Watch carrots & potatoes because they are high in carbs which coverts to sugars. Iceberg lettuce has ZERO nutritonal value so eat spinach, arugula or kale. Fresh is the way to go. Frozen are ok too but canned fruits & veggies contain too much sugar & sodium.
I do steam brown rice & eat alot of fish too.
