Roxxxy Is a Sex Machine. Literally
(Jan. 12) -- Hey, guys, if you're looking for a sure thing, Roxxxy the sex robot is ready, willing and programmed to please.
"She can't vacuum, she can't cook, but she can do almost anything else, if you know what I mean," says inventor Douglas Hines, a former Bell Labs engineer.
"She's a companion."
Ethan Miller, Getty Images
Roxxxy is the first sex doll with artificial intelligence.Just don't call Roxxxy cheap. The retail price for this mail-order bride – available at TrueCompanion.com – ranges from $7,000 to $10,000.
What makes Roxxxy different from her inflatable ancestors is that she's the first sex doll equipped with artificial intelligence. She can talk to you about cars, sports or anything else. She has preferences and moods, and she's always turned on – as long as her battery has a charge.
"She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep," Hines says. "We are trying to replicate a personality of a person."
Users can pick among five prefab personalities, from the user-friendly "Wendy Wild" to "Frigid Farrah." You can even engage in a little wife-swapping – if you have Wi-Fi and friends with whom to swap.
Roxxxy is 5-foot-7 with an ample chest and fleshlike skin, and she was the most-talked-about item at the Adult Entertainment Expo last week in Las Vegas.
Lonely gals might want to turn their attention to Roxxxy's male counterpart, Rocky, who undoubtedly packs a mean hard drive.
Modern technology might not have given us that flying car we dreamed about when we were kids. But at least Roxxxy seems a heck of a lot more fun than Rosie, "The Jetsons" mechanical maid.

What a sad world we live in when our great minds of society are not trying to cure diseases, end world hunger, explore space... they want to build robots to have sex with.
CLASSIC! :top:

Just think of what this will do for the Country of China though, with all those single men!
But truly, this is more of a computer mindset than a chemistry mindset. Theres no money in space or deep sea exploration (heck, there isnt money for the programs there are now) and world hunger, Im not sure how a computer brainiac type person would know where to go with that.

Wow...I could never be that desperate! This is just sad and pathetic.
If you're that hard up, (no pun intended) get a dang hooker.

I'd hate to have to clean that. Yuck.

Maybe they'll make a self-cleaning model. If an oven can do it, surely a robot could. :D

We can fight, fight, fight, donate, donate, donate, I don't think there will ever be an end to world hunger. So now someone can't create/invent something, even if it is something someone might disagree with (a sex doll)?

Do you believe this is a great mind of society?
This isn't a scientist that can cure disease... this is someone into computers that invented something. There are people that are trying to "cure disease, world hunger, explore space......" just not this one.

Ending world hunger is more than just throwing money at people or teaching people how to plant food & feed themselves., it has to do with biogenetics, chemistry, etc...
When people with creative & brilliant minds think that the world would be better off with them by building sex robots, rather than helping society as a whole, WHY, because they make more money?!?!?
What if Louis Pasteur or Marie Curie, Albert Einstein or Jonas Salk all decided to go the route of whoever dies with the most money wins, rather than, using their minds thru reseach to save lives?

How is this being closed minded, because I think this dude is a hose-bag with too much time on his hands, when he should be using his mind to build robots that actually serve a purpose, instead of a bunch of cum-dumpsters?
One good thing, at least this will keep the population down!!!!!!! :dancing:

Not aimed at you personally, just responding to the question on it's own merits.
If everyone, yes everyone, even yourselves, had to give up your 'hobby' or 'interest' would it really be for the benefit of all and is it a reasonable thing to ask?
What if we said, "It's really selfish for those who quilt for a hobby (who own more than one quilt per bed themselves), they should be making clothes and sending it to a poor area for those who have little."
For those who 'scrap book', they should really send all those paper products to 3rd world countries where in school they must write their work on the sand floors in their 'schools' because they have no paper.
What, for world benefit, is bowling, pool, baseball, basketball, hockey, etc....what is that doing to help the world's problems? Nothing. You should use all that money to start farms in impoverished countries and send the rest to chemists and biologists to cure cancer, etc.
So, we will take away everyone's "interests" and "hobbies", redirect all those efforts and funds and soon there will be no one left hungry, sick nor homeless in this world.
Would that be a good idea? Would it work? Would everyone be happy?:headshake
Reality, people have interests and hobbies and it is a healthy thing. :agree I wouldn't want anyone telling me how to spend my money and time or what I should be interested in....just like anyone else here. So to tell this 'inventor' what he 'should be doing for the greater of all mankind' is somewhat hypocritical. We should all be the Einstein or Madam Curie's...we're all capable of having a 'brilliant & creative mind'.....however we're not because that is not where our interests lie. Why aren't you out studying to cure all the world's diseases? Why are you looking to other people to do that and telling them that they should do that? If you are not willing to do that yourself. (and all these "you's" are of course general and not directed at anyone in particular)
We all have our unique talents....and the way they develop is through our interests and hobbies.
*gets off soap box*
So yes, I think this item is not one that particularly interests me and I dare say a bit 'sick'...but to each his own. I'd rather have my 'sick' neighbor have this in their bedroom than have him on his patio next door with his manlihood stuck in the umbrella hole of his picnic table for all to see every weekend.
And, who knows, perhaps someone with a curious and creative mind may be sparked by this 'invention' and further create another device which will help world hunger, peace and cure all diseases. :shrug
It makes the world go 'round.

Geez Louise woman!
They do serve a purpose. Just not one you apparently think they should. At least they would be at home, not ILLEGALLY purchasing a prostitute for an hour or as Pep said sticking their wanker in a park picnic table.
And since when should we be demanding what people invent?

Hahaha... after thinking about this some more, it really is a great idea., Hopefully they'll make it cheap enough for your everyone to afford one., cheap enough for even the poor welfare monkeys to buy it, instead of continuing to breed! Maybe insurance & medicare will pay for it!
How sad these peoples lifes once were because they are so socially ignorant that they cannot hold a conversation with a real girl, now they have a chance to really appriciate a woman, the way man intended., A real Stepford Wife!
I loved that movie Lars & The Real Girl.
Won't it be great if your son or one day hopefully your grandson comes home & introduces his new robot to the family. Oh what a joyous occasion that will be.

What any man, any woman, does sexually behind closed doors, with a doll, with a Mr. BOB, or anything, is none of my concern, as long as he/she harms no one.
Sounds like you'd have to be doing pretty well to get one.... as it says they are between 7-$10,000.
