Has anyone used Debrox drops on a 15 month old?Is it safe to use?I noticed a lot of build up in my sons ears.I thought I was doing a good job cleaning them but I guess I wasnt.I dont want to stick anything in his ear so a qtip is out of the question.Does anyone know an easy way to clean them if the Debrox isnt safe?

I would bring this up with his pediatrician. If he has excessive wax, there might be another problem hiding in the background.

wow, I would not use anything like that on a baby. Go to the md.

I heard on the show drs that olive oil is a natural way to sooth a ear ache and remove excess wax build up.

you can put a drop of baby oil also in the ears and the helps with the build up...olive oil can be used too like suggested above

with debrox you have to use to q tip when the "cleaning" or softening is done, to get the softened wax out, I have used it many times on patients. A doctor can remove any build up of wax safely.

You can get an ear wax removing kit from Walgreens. It basically consists of a syringe, and ear wax drops. We put the drops in and let them sit for a few minutes. Then we mix part hydrogen peroxide and water, fill the syringe and squirt in the ear to remove the excess wax. It works wonderfully on older people, but I have never done it on a toddler. My 9 year old was pretty hard to do it on.

You NEVER want to handle an infants ears, their little ear drums are easily infected/ruptured. You

Anything that can't be safely removed using a soft warm wet washcloth is beyond what you need to try to do yourself. Consult the child's doctor.

Have your pediatrician address this. Do not stick anything in baby's ears. Some babies have more ear wax than others. It does not mean that Mom is not doing good hygiene on baby.
Our pediatrician would use a little device to remove the ear wax, while she had an "ear scope" to look into baby's ears. My boys both had a lot of ear wax as infants too.

ear wax is good for kids ears
My DD gets ear wax that builds up and gets hard. Her doctor gave me a prescription for Colace(sp). Told me to let it sit in her ears for 30 minutes, then take a syringe(very skinny and small) with water to flush the wax out.
I would be very careful about messing with a baby's ears. Heck, when my kids were babies, I left the ear cleaning to the doctor. The kids doctor said that prefers to clean the babies ears so they don't get hurt. So when I took the kids into see her, I had her clean them.
