For those who do not obsessively wacth the weather channel, there is a late storm in the Gulf : http://www.bigbigforums.com/news-information/630244-explain-ida-hurricane-season-over.html Who lives on the Gulf Coast besides Shelby, Sunflowers and I ? I am about 100 miles inland ... but with a 'cane that is still a bit windy ;) Just finished repairing all the damage done by Gustav and Ike - roof replaced, porch restored, trees all trimmed and the debris pile was burned Oct 31 ... :sigh: The "new and improved" tree house ( sans tree now ) was going to be the kids Christmas gift ....we'll have to see about that

Stay safe Jolie and all of you, yes I have been following it mainly because of where it was hitting Mexico since we travel there so much.
I remember all the damage you had before. :hug
Sharon (shadowcats) is from that area and was in Katrina I know. Also isn't Paula and Tina both around that area too?

Tina is in TN, Paula is in MS but she is NE of me ... a lot depends on when - or if - Ida makes her turn. Some tracks have her turning hard right into South FL while others have her doing almost due North and hitting Mobile Bay ... with a little bit of everything in between.

The weatherman said tonight that it will hit very close to the florida panhandle... if he's right, you'll be fine for sure. I hope he's right for you.

I have been watching this very closely. I live just west of Pensacola FL. so this is coming right at me. This is a very similar path that Ivan took 5 years ago.

We are supposed to get 4 inches of rain with high winds tomorrow. We already have a flood warning up for Tues and Weds. I hope everyone stays safe.

They keep telling us that it's losing strength and will not be officially a hurricane when it hits land. I don't know what the difference is... besides wind strength... but I'm praying for you all regardless... Yall please stay safe.

Those of us that live in hurricane prone area's know that the hurricane season runs through the end of November it's just that we normally don't see hurricanes this late in the year.

So far so good. Lots of wind and rain but nothing out of the ordinary for a gulf coast storm. Flooding is likely with this much rain at once though.

It has been raining steady and hard since a little after midnight yesterday. The winds are picking up as well. I feel so bad for the people that are just starting to rebuild from last months flood of the century.

Nothing much here. Just mild wind and rain. It didn't even rain very hard. It rained most of yesterday but more like a drizzling rain.

*sigh* Hurricane season is not over until November 30. So Ida is still within the "time limits".

I already stated I made a mistake... they are not common by November. :sigh:
