$255 for 30/500mg tablets. CVS is 249.99.

My son was a wrestler in high school. During a meet the host school did not clean their mats. They also allowed wrestlers infected with herpes gladitorium, participate.

My sons school tried to keep it hush, hush. I found out after the school paid a doctor to check out the boys and give them Valtrex along with a script with refills. This is a reoccuring problem. Mostly it occurs on one area of his neck. But last year it went into the ear as well. He gets an out break 2-4 times a year. But now he has no insurance, it is a problem due to their expense.

CVS minute clinic wouldn't touch it. Said he needed a skin specialist. The local township clinic refused as well. County is our only option but of course it is in a terrible neighborhood so hubby is going with him. Now this will effect his school.

My biggest beef is 2 fold. 1. Why are the schools not responsible for the expense he will incur for life. 2. Why can't his doctor give us copies of this portion of his records so county can just give him the Valtrex?

Any home remedies or natural cures are appreciated.

It's a skin infection caused by the herpes simplex virus and it's very contagious with direct contact.
Get generic acyclovir, it treats the same thing and is much cheaper then Valtrex. You can get it for $4 at Walmart.

You know, I'm not usually one who condones any kind of suing... but I would think in a situation where the school actually tried to keep it a secret from the parents that they were bringing in doctors and passing out prescriptions... that yeah, I'd at least consult w/ a lawyer.

So was your son's school the host school or was it an away event? Why were they hush hush? Were these kids under 18 when the brought in an MD and handed out scripts? Get a script from the doc who diagnosed it. I can't believe the clinics wouldn't help you guys, that's laziness. It is a very common condition.

Another school hosted the event. They did not clean the mats after many of their own players contracted it. They also did not inform the refs of the infected wrestlers or they would not have been allowed to wrestle. My sons school tried to keep it all quiet. I found out after the fact from another mother of a wrestler.

I think a legal consult may be in order.

A friend of ours is not letting his son wrestle this year because he kept getting ring worm and no clue how to spell infintigo. He said it was from the mats also.

Yep. My son has sufferd/suffers from impetigo as well. All that is needed is bleach. What a small cost.

If they dont clean up for this, can you imagine how they take care of the mats if someone bleeds?

My sons are high school wrestlers and I go to almost every meet. Our schools always bleach the mats, as do all the schools I have seen. Now.. they did get staph one year but whether it was from wrestling or from them being dirty teenage boys who knows
