Anyone know how much I can give a 4 yr old who weighs approx 30-35lbs? The label says to ask a dr but her drs office is closed.

Whats wrong with her? If she is having flu-like symptoms, DO NOT GIVE PEPTO! It contains aspirin and can cause Rhyes-Syndrome(sp?).

Other wise, my mom would give us less than half teaspoon. I always puked mine right back up anyway........Shew, Pepto is nasty stuff.

Almost to the bottom of the page:

Prevention
Never give a child aspirin unless told to do so by your doctor.

When a child must take aspirin, take care to reduce the child's risk of catching a viral illness such as the flu and chickenpox. Avoid aspirin for several weeks after the child has received a varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.

Note: Other over-the-counter medications, such as Pepto-Bismol and substances with oil of wintergreen also contain aspirin compounds called salicylates. Do not give these to a child who has a cold or fever.

I honestly thought it was "aspirin", never knew it was oil of wintergreen either. I just knew I read it on the side of the Pepto bottle...Shew, that is nasty stuff....I have to get the pills you swallow.

ugh... i made the BIG mistake of getting those cocoa and creme tums smoothies... I had to throw them away... they made me gag... i prefer rolaids peppermint that really settles my heartburn... and I get hearburn a lot more often now that I am taking pain meds....(its a side effect of one of them)

Oh yeah, another thing.... if you or your child has diarrhea, try using coca cola (some say drink it flat) .... and sip it... I think it works a LOT better than immodium... at least it does for me

I like the cream ones, like strawberry peach and vanilla(altho i skip over the vanilla) and the berry ones. I was eyeballing the cocoa ones, thanks for the warning!

I remember my mom giving me coke when i was sick, warm nasty coke LOL.

I never got any kind of pop :( just orange juice or water and some nasty cherry flavored medicine. YUCK! I hate cherry flavored stuff to this day.

I wasn't sure what was in Pepto but I know my son isn't allowed to take it at all. His doctor said to make sure I didn't give it to him. I can't remember if it's because of a medication my son takes or if it will aggravate something. We just stay away from Pepto, aspirin, Tylenol.

I am a nurse, and in the hospital or drs. office, whenever someone, young or old has an upset tummy, we always recommend keeping the stomach empty. Even ice chips can cause nausea to be worse.
